The Best Restaurants in LA’s Beachy Venice Neighborhood, According to Eater Editors

"Planted under white brick arches on a surprisingly mellow boardwalk alley, Market has been quietly delighting locals and visitors with its unfussy, aperitivo-influenced menu, bold wines, and indoor-outdoor layout (the glass walls to the inside open completely, while the front patio has ample seating). On a menu that focuses heavily on what’s seasonal, it’s hard to pinpoint one dish to be most enamored with. Along with the punchy salads and fresh pasta to order, always include the crispy fried potatoes, a side that could itself be the centerpiece of any meal." - Matthew Kang, Nicole Adlman

Market - Review - Venice - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Market feels more like a bumping apartment party than an Italian restaurant, so come here if you're looking for a high-energy space near the beach. They play fun nu-disco playlists, the lights are always dim, and Westsiders in expensive linen drink white wine and amaro like it's Evian. It's definitely a flashy place (the NeueHouse across the street doesn't help), but Market is a proper sit-down spot rather than somewhere to drink and be seen. The menu is inspired by Italian aperitivo, but the dishes are a lot heavier than a bowl of olives, like fluffy cacio e pepe fritters dusted in parmesan and pork ribs slathered in a sweet-salty black garlic molasses. We prefer the pasta menu, though, which features a chewy strozzapreti in a nutty, cheesy white pesto and the lumache coated in a thin, spicy vodka sauce." - Sylvio Martins

Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week | Eater LA

"This unfussy Italian on a quiet boardwalk alley delights with seasonal, aperitivo-influenced plates and bold wines; after vegetable and fruit starters I was enamored by the crispy fried potatoes — craggiest, crunchiest uneven hunks, deep-fried and tossed with a creamy Italian-dressing-like sauce and chopped chives — a side that could be the centerpiece of the meal." - Eater Staff

French Market Café Review - Venice - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"French Market Café is a lesser-known spot on Abbot Kinney. It’s one of those neighborhood places that only locals seem to frequent. They probably keep it quiet because they don’t want any non-Venice riff-raff infiltrating. But luckily someone let us in on the secret that is French Market Café and its really incredible patio, and now we can’t get enough of the cheval on a baguette." - Amanda Williamson

Beautiful restaurant just a short walk from the beach — perfect for a birthday dinner or date night. The ambience is warm and stylish, and the service was genuinely excellent from start to finish. We stuck to vegetarian dishes and didn’t try any cocktails. The menu is limited but thoughtfully done. The focaccia was soft and flavorful, a good start. The standout dish was the cabbage with chili oil — likely Asian-inspired, perfectly balanced, and something I’d absolutely order again. The beets were great too. We tried two pastas: • The vodka pasta was creamy, rich, and delicious, but also very heavy — definitely a dish to share. • The ravioli in cheese sauce came in a smaller portion and was lighter but still tasty. Overall, a lovely experience — great vibes, attentive service, and quality food. Next time I’d go lighter on the pasta and repeat that amazing cabbage. Reservations recommended, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating plus a full bar.

10/10 The melon with prosciutto and the Cesar were great to start. The stone fruit salad hits, hard. Can’t forget the squash blossoms. Absolutely amazing. The spicy vodka pasta was delicious. The 8oz steak was cooked perfectly. Everything was perfect.

I can't say enough how great Market is!!! What a total surprise for us. We were able to get reservations about an hour before while we were hanging out in Venice. We thought it would be a little hole in the wall like other boardwalk restaurants. It's NOT! Get ready for amazing atmosphere, service (Danielle was amazing!), and fantastic food. The vegetables stole the show for me. The cucumber salad, charred cabbage, and squash blossoms were fantastic. Plates are small, but meant to be shared. So order EVERYTHING that sounds good and pass it around. We had 6 people and 10 dishes.

Great location, the food is tasty. The ambiance is pleasant. We like it as a cozy spot. However, the kitchen closes at 10:30, and we didn’t get to have our dessert. We will definitely return and try it next time. Next visit, we'll make sure to arrive earlier to savor every course. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. I can already picture enjoying a scoop of home made gelato. It’s the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem in the city

We loved our experience at Market. We came in on a Friday night without a reservation and they did their best to get us a great table outside. Service was incredible. Danielle was so friendly and just made our whole night, we enjoyed her so much. Food was really good. We loved the squash blossoms, spicy vodka sauce pasta and Caesar salad with the perfect amount of cheese. Try the white Negroni to drink- oh my gosh, it’s good. Great outdoor seating area. Great spot in VB.

Absolutely loved this spot! The plates are on the smaller side, so I’d recommend grabbing 2–3 per person, but trust me it’s worth it. Every dish we tried was packed with incredible flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Great atmosphere and a perfect place to share and sample a variety of amazing bites. Can’t wait to come back!

A high quality spot right off the boardwalk. The pastas and steak were fantastic. The menu always has new items worth trying. The staff are friendly, know the menu inside and out, and have great suggestions. The squash blossoms are a go-to appetizer but honestly everything is good. I noticed a few customers had dietary restrictions and the staff came out with a menu marked with notes to help them order. Super nice!

My first time was flawless. My only problem was the food and atmosphere was so engrossing I actually never took any pictures. We had a medley of dishes the ones that stood out where the stone Fruits, which was basically peaches with hazelnuts I would drive a distance for those my next time I go there, which there definitely will be a next time I will pay more attention
