First time here. I've heard much about the place so I was excited to check it out. Clean place, larger than I thought, looks as though they have food ready to go in a cooler for those on the run and not too loud in the bar area which is where we sat. We didn't have to wait long to be seated. We were brought water to start with a carafe to fill our glasses as we needed. Our server, Jasmin, greeted us within minutes. Jasmin clearly knew the menu well and was able to guide us in the right direction with ease. She was very friendly, easy going, obviously an experienced server. Once she passed our table with something for another table and two plates for our appetizer. As she passed she stated something to the point, plates for your appetizer. I loved that. She didn't need to stick around, didn't need to say more. Impressed. Then again she did it again before our main course arrived with a plate of small metal filled cups of condiments (ketchup, blue cheese, etc). Impressed again. The food was great! The chile chicken wings are not spicy, actually very sweet; plenty for two to share, plenty for one for lunch.
The hamburger was cooked perfectly. I was starving and barely finished my burger with fries. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken sandwich. We shared the cheesecake for dessert which was really delicious and thick.
Here is where the experienced crashed. We finished our appetizer, the wings, as our meal was brought to the table. I purposely said the appetizer plates could be taken. The guy just left the table leaving the dirty app plates in front of us. Mind you, our table wasn't that big to begin with. Nonetheless, the expectation of Market Town is to sit with dirty plates crowding our table in front of us while trying to eat our main course. Epic fail. I bussed the damn table myself by putting dirty plates on a clean table. Wow - in less than a minute they were picked up.
Fast forward to dessert time. We ordered the cheese cake and I purposely stated, "these plates can go." They weren't removed. Again...EPIC fail. And again, I bussed the table myself by putting dirty plates on a clean table. Again - quickly picked up. So, you can bus a clean table but not mine.
Anyone that knows me knows I won't sit with dirty plates at my table, especially when staff are at the table and able to take them. "Never leave a table with empty hands", "you have time to lean, you have time to clean." Any respectable manager instills this in their staff during orientation.
Tip was not the usual 20%, sadly.
I come to Stockton twice a month. I look forward to the opportunity to have a better Market Town experience and leave a 5 star review.
