Yelp
I can't believe I have never left a review for Maru, especially considering it is my absolute favorite restaurant! If you are looking for a cheaper sushi option, this definitely should not be your go-to.
However, if you are willing to pay a little bit more for a delicious meal, this is your spot. I have never had a signature roll that I didn't love (although the cosmo roll with salmon is my all time favorite), and my very non-adventurous partner is always happy with his crunchy shrimp roll. We also looooove the chicken gyoza, sweet fried tofu, and crabby mushrooms for appetizers. I have only had one cocktail, and it was a while ago, but it was yummy too.
I haven't been to dine indoors since covid hit, but I have always thought their interior was very cozy and modern, albeit a little too small for comfort. Service isn't anything out of this world, but is consistently good, which is greatly appreciated in a college town.
I have graduated and left East Lansing (although I am still only a half hour away), but Maru is the only restaurant I continue to make the round trip to get. Which means that I should stop writing this review now before I make some irresponsible financial decisions for dinner (:
