Brooklyn Ramen Review - Brookline - Boston - The Infatuation

"Brooklyn Ramen is located inside the Maruichi grocery store, and it’s the only place we know about that serves ramen made with wagyu beef. The broth is lighter than we’re used to, but not in a bad way - you just have to prepare yourself for a different type of ramen experience. That lightness extends to even the tonkatsu bowls though, so if you’re looking for a really rich broth, you might want to head elsewhere." - Joel Ang

Google
Maruichi is a great place to shop for japanese food and ingredients. They have the standard selection of japanese snacks, drinks, sauces, etc with some additional less commonly seen choices. The onigiri here are good too. Prices are reasonable, obviously many things are more expensive because they are imported.

Google
Hands down has the best Japanese grocery food selection in Boston. Their weekend special tuna sashimi bowls ($35) rival the ones I’ve had in Osaka. They also have a decent Japanese knife selection and some Japanese kitchen accessories.

Came back to visit Boston and came across this amazing place, finally there’s an authentic Japanese grocery store in BOS!! Ughhhhh I wish this place opened earlier before I left the city 2 years ago😭😭😭😭😭

I was so excited to discover this gem sitting in the center of the city of Providence! The ingredients that I need for my Japanese vegan recipes are all right here!!! Love them!!!🦋

Google
We visited this place to get kakigori for dessert. We got the yuzu and the strawberry kakigori. Both were way too sweet for me. I was looking for parts of ice that didn't have any syrup/topping for respite from the syrupy sweetness. I wouldn't get the kakigori again. When Tsurumen in Davis has kakigori, they make it with a much better balance of flavors. And Oasit's Sweet in Brookline also has great shaved ice. It looks like they have a lot of other good food though, so I'd be down to try that in the future!

Wow! A MUST SEE place! Experience for yourself. What a nice place to have great Japanese food and drinks. Can get busy at certain times of the day, but the vibe is a good mix of lounge and restaurant. Definitely a win.

Google
Nice grocery store with a great selection of Japanese goods! The food made in-house was okay. Near the end of the day, a lot of the food made in store is sold at a discount (around 50% off). There is a large cosmetics section with good makeup / skincare brands. Near that area, there is anime merch plus gachapon near the window (mostly Oshi no Ko and Attack On Titan gachapons). Also, there is a lot of cute stationary. The prices are fair, though I would say some of the items are overpriced-but that could be because of imports n stuff. Overall, a good Japanese grocery store.

Google
The place is a heaven to all sushi home “chefs” (possibly professional chefs, as well Japanese food cooks/lovers in general). Great selection of sashimi grade, spotless quality, high grade hard to find fish, plus all sort of sea creatures, seafood (made salads, sauces, marinated goods, sushi), Wagyu, Japanese vegetables, spices, sauces, frozen goods etc etc. Quite OK selection of rice, Nori, Kombu. Store has also kitchen supplies/cutlery section, big cosmetics section, plus liquor section - all Japanese of course. Extremely polite (as most Japanese) and super sweet manager lady, is always exceptionally helpful and eager to help. One of best things: they buy and butcher whole Bluefin Tuna (Honmaguro) - which is EXACTLY what you want,… and what makes them IMO #1 best source of it in entire Greater Boston. Buying whole fish shows they are serious. They not going to take any chances for being passed fake cuts (mislabeled (above 50% standard in industry) cheaper fish passed as more expensive), or cuts being chemically doctored. Even I did not asked, by look, smell, texture and quality of the fish alone, I can tell it was flash-frozen (which is again EXACTLY something you want) - otherwise, at this volume (Bluefin is few hundreds pounds which cannot be sold just in couple of days) it simply wouldn’t be always perfect. This takes care of parasite concern as well, contrary to popular belief, IMPROVES culinary quality and taste of the fish. It simply makes it better. Prices towards higher end, which is reasonable and to be expected IMO, with top quality and some goods being imported from the opposite side of the planet. I’m a bit of a sushi/sashimi nut (making my own). Really, really love the place. Love their products, love their stuff, love cleanliness and ambiance. STRONGLY, STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Yelp
Came in durring the The Maruichi X Yamamotoyama Pop-Up event where a guest chef flew in from Japan to make drinks. It was really good. It looks almost 30 min of waiting in line just to get to the front door, and the line kept spinning around once we got inside. Will need to come back and try their matcha another time to see how it compares.

Yelp
We loved our experience here. It's an order and then sit yourself situation in a cafe like area. The space was clean and serene though fairly busy. They have a pretty varied menu including hot food and fresh sushi. They even have a kids menu (which is a good portion for a good price - and has a good variety of good!). The pork katsu and chirashi were both delicious. We've come for dinner so we didn't grab any lattes but their matcha latte looked delicious and very popular.

Still one of my favorite places to go in Brookline. I stop by at least once a week. Love it here!

Yelp
Love Maruichi Japanese Food and Deli! Popped in today for a quick snack. Salmon Avocado Roll $7.99 Fresh and tasty

Yelp
This spot is conveniently located in the middle of Coolidge corner. Food was easy to order and came out pretty quickly. Mango Matcha: I really enjoyed the seasonal mango matcha, the matcha flavor was strong and the mango "jam" added the perfect amount of sweetness. Yuzu cold udon: it came out quick and the yuzu does come through pretty nicely. There were almost two different udon noodles which was interesting. Overall it was just okay. My friend got the curry which did taste amazing!

Yelp
Maruichi is such a great supermarket to buy your favorite Japanese snacks, produce, drinks, etc. They even have a lifestyle section in the back where you can stock up on your beauty essentials, homeware and cute plushies. Everything is reasonably priced and great quality. Highly recommend the Ogawa coffee grounds for those who like to make coffee at home :) If you're feeling hungry, they also have a cafeteria across the street where you can grab a quick matcha latte and a yummy onigiri. The employees seemed very welcoming in both the cafeteria and supermarket. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Yelp
Iconic Japanese market. We stumbled upon Maruichi during our Boston trip, and it quickly became an unforgettable highlight! We visited this spot two or three times during our two-day trip, which shows how much we relied on Maruichi -- a true staple! We sampled their variety of onigiri, which were decent. The rice-to-filling ratio was a bit off, with not much filling inside, but they made for a satisfying snack while exploring Boston. However, the real standout for me was their dango. We indulged in these chewy, mildly sweet treats while watching Netflix at our Airbnb, and they were absolute perfection. We actually visited a second time and a third time to get the dangos again! -- ironically these dangos were the one thing I missed the most about Boston. Maruichi offers a great selection of Japanese snacks, fresh foods, personal care items, and other household essentials. If you're ever in Boston, this market is a must-visit!

Yelp
Across the street from maruichi select is this cute extension branch food and deli on one side, and a cute Japanese plushy, pencil, pens, personal body care, shampoos and face washes etc. Grabbed a bag of chips and some pencils while here but def would return the pricing here is better than the Korean - Japanese beauty products stores in Allston / Brighton. Didn't talk to any of the staff but did get a quick checkout.

Yelp
If you like matcha this is the place for you! Found this gem in Brookline this week and I was not disappointed. The matcha lattes are one of the best I've had in Boston and the food is not far behind. My personal favorite was the beef Gyudon! The servers in the front were kind and patient and helped us through their menu. The interior design was a small cute shop in the front, and a place to sit and eat in the back.

Yelp
I visited Maruichi to buy some cooking supplies this weekend. I come here often, and their selection of unique cooking ingredients and even some ready-to-eat foods. The store is well-organized and extremely tidy. Not a spot a of dust on any shelf. And the staff are always polite and helpful, eager to help you find whatever you need. While I was here, I also grabbed two of their onigiri, rice balls with a filling inside. I had the eel, which was sweet and well cooked, and the pickled plum, which had a tart sweetness that I really enjoyed. I strongly suggest stopping in here if you happen to be walking by.

Yelp
Service 5/5 The women taking our order was so sweet I'd come back just for her. I wasn't sure about sweetness levels but she assured me I can adjust after if I'd like! Theres a lot of seating but it does get quite busy - there's a water station and it was clean overall. The matcha was the best I've had in Boston and the onigiri was also delicious. I would 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
This place is amazing and I recommend it to everyone! The food was so delicious - I loved my gyudon bowl and the hand roll set was also so enjoyable. You order at the counter and then pick up the food, which came out pretty quick. My friend and I sat in the little dome structure and it felt so cozy and homey. I also love that they sell special Japanese goods you can take home! This place seems like it'd be great for a coffee/matcha date or working with friends!

Yelp
I believe Maruichi is the only Japanese market in Massachusetts. I remember finding out about this place when I was trying to see if there was a Mitsuwa closer by & not have to troop to Edgewater, NJ. Great place to come for some sushi/sashimi grade fish to bring home to eat. They also have so many snacks that you wouldn't be able to find in other Asian markets, even HMart. They've got the cutest stationary items and plushies. A little pricey but is kind of expected, especially with it being located in Brookline. All of their produce is incredibly fresh. Across the street, they have their cafe, which has one of the best matchas in Boston and yummy Japanese food that is just as good as or better than most Japanese restaurants, + not as expensive. Also, they have HUGE onigiris for only $4, premade, & premade dishes that are great to pick up for on the go. There is lots of parking available in the area, including a pay by meter parking lot. I totally recommend checking Maruichi's out if you haven't!

Yelp
In the past few years, Maruichi has continued to improve their Brookline location and has fully opened up their restaurant/cafe in the back. It even includes a traditional floor seating area which is pretty delightful. If nothing in the cold prepared area piques your interest (or if it's dinner and they've run out), then the restaurant in the back has a pretty decent selection of traditional Japanese meals including ramen, curry, gyudon, katsu, and hand rolls. It's counter service where you order on the left then the kitchen on the right calls your food out when it's ready. There's also free water/cups, utensils, and condiments at the front. You bus your table once you're done. Service has been polite/fast, even when they're swamped. I've had their katsu and curry before, both delicious and hearty, and I like the "sets" that they come with (miso soup, rice, and pickled veggies). I've even had their kids meal which was honestly a pretty decent portion if you're in the mood for a lighter meal. The one let down was their hand rolls- I've had them twice now and they're a tad expensive for what you get, but what turned me off was how over-sauced they can be. If they just dialed back the sauce a little bit and let the fish shine, it would have been perfect.

Yelp
Such a great spot! Easy and convenient ordering, and a lot of great, fresh food options. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, which was very flavorful and unlike any Japanese curry I have had (in a good way!). It was light, had onions, and maybe chicken (?). Chicken had a great crunch and was super juicy. My friend ordered the chirashi which was delicious as well. Very fresh sashimi that melts in your mouth. Grand portions, will keep you full and satisfied (especially the curry in these colder months). Service was great, the workers were very kind. The ambiance was modern and clean, there is a small curated area that has food and kitchen items (great for finding unique and useful gifts!) It is a great spot to meet a friend, since it is so convenient and delicious. Made sure to grab hojicha on the way out, so good. Make sure to check out their grocery store across the street too!

Yelp
The best casual Japanese restaurant in town? Definitely here. Maruichi's off shoot, GenSouEn has finally hit their stride and is taking full advantage of their back area. Furnished with a tatami room as a nod to the traditional Japanese tea rooms, the beautiful wooden furniture, the indoor tree and ambience makes this a pleasant but casual place to get some delicious food. I have long been on a hunt for great casual Japanese food that isn't just centralized on ramen or sushi, and not surprisingly, Maruichi has done it. Grab some Japanese food products, or treat yourself to high quality tea afterwards!
google avatar

Yu Y.

Yelp
In addition to the amazing selection of Japanese groceries items, Maruichi also has a great food court. I got the mango shaved ice and a premium chasu and agitama onigiri. The onigiri was savory and there are lots of sauces to add on top. You can watch the shaved ice get made right in front of you. It's the creamiest fluffiest shaved ice I've had. The dining area has a bunch of smaller tables but they were all packed.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
very clean, cute, & well organized. Great Selection of food. The strawberry matcha latte they had for the pop up was really yummy! I hope they bring it back. The gyudon is definitely one of my favorites. I love coming here for the onigiris and gyudon!
google avatar

Yerina K.

Yelp
The deli/cafe selection is really great in my opinion and the quality of food is solid as well. There are a bunch of seats and small tables to eat on/hang out, but there is no wifi (for those who want to study). I highly recommend the donburi and kakigori (strawberry is my favorite). The gyudon was alright and tastes like the meals sold in actual Japanese convenience stores! The onigiris are more rice than filling and a little overpriced in my opinion but still good. The service there is fast and I like the dynamics of the store. Everyone is very nice and friendly + there is a little girl that works there who helps out so that's very cute as well!
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
A fantastic spot for Japanese goods and light Japanese meals. The store is divided into two sections: home goods and market. I often pick up onigiri here, which is priced quite reasonably. They also offer great deals on items like Wagyu when it's approaching the expiration date, so I've been able to score Wagyu at a very affordable price. Staff is pretty much only behind the checkout or restocking, but are available whenever needed. The Home Goods section features skincare products, anime merchandise, and various home items like dishes and plates. There's also a Gashapon machine for mini gacha toys. I love this place and it's always one of my top stops when I'm in the area.

Yelp
An perfect gem tucked in in the heart of Brookline! I have been to Boston many times, but on our most recent visit, we discovered Mariuchi ,and I am so happy we did! It is so cute inside, with a small assortment of imported Japanese goods and small restaurant. The inside was spotless, and the staff was so friendly and patient with me as I tired to decide what to order from the menu. My mom and I both ordered onigri, she got a tuna onigiri, and I got a kakigori onigiri. It was beyond delicious, and if they were not sold out of them, I would have gone back for another. We also got a mango kakigōri for my mom, my friend, and I to share. It was super hot this day in Boston, and it was the perfect dessert to cool off with. Next time we are in Brookline, we will be stopping by Mariuchi! IF you are ever in the area, make sure to stop by!
google avatar

Yelp
I got the cherry matcha latte with oat milk from Maruichi. The cafe seating area is super bite. It was also packed when I went around 8pm on a Thursday night. My cherry matcha latte was pretty good but not great. I was hoping it would taste a bit richer
google avatar

Elena J.

Yelp
They were having a pop up from Fujielabo in Tokyo when we went and it was such a cute vibe. I ordered the hojicha chaffogato, which they make and pour in front of you. The ice cream was a little too sweet for my liking, but I enjoyed the hojicha! Browsing their selection of honeys, teas, and other Japanese items was fun too!
google avatar

Yelp
This Japanese grocery store is incredible! It has everything you could think of and more! From your usual Japanese groceries to accessories, it's a great place to get all your kitchen supply. And also a great place to get gifts for your loved ones that love Japanese stuff. They have a cafe in the back where you can order coffee, lunch, desserts. Their shaved ice is such a nice treat! Super subtle in flavor. Their matcha latte was great too. What I really love about this store is the items that are ready to grab. They have chirashi bowls and onigiri! I love their onigiri for a quick snack while I'm running errands. They also sell the onigiris at their other store across the street. Sometimes they have different flavors so if you want to compare, both these stores are across the street from each other. Everyone is so polite and friendly inside. It's a really clean store that feels so zen and peaceful upon entering. Definitely a great place to get all your Asian goodies and also if you want food, they have a great options on their menu!
google avatar

Chris P.

Yelp
Clean, well stocked, and lots of variety of both food and non-food products. Some of the items I would definitely buy at a Chinese grocery store as it'd be the same thing for cheaper (even some of the Japanese products like Pocky, Cup Noodles, Ito En teas, or Meiji chocolates). If you have a good idea what you can find at a Chinese grocery store, then shopping here is very similar, except that you can find more products that are Japan exclusive. The store itself is fantastic. It has literally everything you could want just like a regular supermarket. It would definitely be easy to spend a lot of money in here, but it's cheaper than H-Mart and more expensive than a typical Chinese/pan-Asian grocery store. Just to give you an idea of the price range. Overall I was very satisfied with my shopping experience here and would gladly come back. The cashiers were also very friendly as well.
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
GO TRY THE KAKIGORI WHILE IT'S STILL IN SEASON. It's $8 for a tall bowl of super refreshing and tasty shaved ice. The flavor was strong yet still somehow light -- an experience you have to go taste for yourself. The food court food was also delicious. I got a curry with tonkatsu for about $14 and it filled me up. The pork was fried delicately and the curry felt home cooked. Keep in mind that Maruichi is mostly self serve -- you order at the cashier and pick up your food at a counter. There are no waiters/waitresses to clean up after you. There are lots of seats available and even the option to sit on the floor with your shoes off.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
While the prices are a bit high, the quality makes up for it - especially in their variety of fresh fish and sushi. My partner and I used to order delivery every weekend, but we've taken to visiting Maruichi instead lately and getting some sushi, an onigiri, or some instant ramen. If you haven't had Japanese instant ramen from the rectangular-shaped packs (they come in servings of two), you're missing out! Our favorites are the yuzu shoyu, yuzushio, and seafood tonkatsu. Maruichi also has a good selection of canned goods like different fish and tofu skin pockets that we regularly get. We haven't tried their marbled meat, but it looks amazing, and their frozen dumping section is delicious! As far as non-prepared food, they have a good variety of sauces (soy, eel, spicy mayo, mirin, etc.), broths (different kinds of dashi), seasonings (furikake), dried goods (and noodles), drinks, and all sorts of wonderful goodies we still have to try. We're extremely grateful to have this store in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Now that the cafe is fully back with meal service, I'll be stopping by quite a bit for their curry. On my first trip, I tried the chicken katsu curry, which I would recommend. The portion size was great and the curry was flavorful. The second time, I tried their udon noodles. I don't think I would order these noodle soups again because when I am craving udon, I am thinking of the thick round style. The noodles used here were regular flat noodles like the dry noodles commonly sold in the noodle aisle of the grocery stores. I tried a beef rice bowl on my third trip and the beef was thinly cut and flavorful, but a little sweet for my tastes. I will mostly come back for the curry. They also sell a beautiful frozen shaved ice which I will definitely get in the summer. They recently added donuts from a local Japanese donut maker and the flavors are unique. I think I will also be getting plenty of matcha lattes from them because their portion sizes of the iced matcha lattes are great. Seating is limited due to the crowds on weekends so I will be more inclined to get take out. The design is nice and traditional, but due to the crowds, it's not the most calming vibe in there on weekends.
google avatar

Donna L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time here! Maruichi is split into about 2 areas. When you walk in, there are many Japanese ingredients, snacks, and cooking tools available for purchase. There is a hang/eating area where you can order drinks and food. Really nice and cozy in here. We got an onigiri, hojicha latte, and hojicha shaved ice. Wouldn't get the onigiri here again bc the filling is lacking, but OMG the hojicha shaved ice is amazing!! Latte was also pretty good and had a strong tea taste if you're looking for that instead of the milky stuff.
google avatar

Sonya F.

Yelp
Didn't know that Maruichi had a small restaurant attached but was really excited to try it! I was craving a burger this day so I decided to try theirs and it was pretty yummy. It certainly satisfied my craving, but it wasn't outstanding. Next time, I would definitely try one of their popular dishes, like the curry, which I've heard good things about. After eating, we browsed the store section, which sells tea-ware and other useful and nice looking kitchen items. I really liked how easy and quick it was to order so if I was in the area again, I would certainly come back.
google avatar

Binh P.

Yelp
Wonderful Japanese market and food court. There was a variety of house wares to look at as well. They are well stocked with their chirashi selections (some even costing up to $100). But there are also affordable options from $11 to $21. I couldn't resist trying out a yuzu kakigori from the food court. Seating might be limited, but there was a cool area where you could sit on the floor to enjoy the food provided that you take your shoes off. The kakigori was fluffy and the cream on top added a rich vanilla flavor to the dessert. I wish I could try their other food options as well. Great place if you need a snack, lunch, dinner, or groceries.
google avatar

Jae P.

Yelp
Located across the Maruichi grocery store, there's a cute cafe & food-court-like dining area inside here. A lot of delicious Japanese-inspired cafe items & tea are offered here and a ton of premade sushi / onigiri are available. Hot foods are also made to order and plenty of seating inside. Loved the no-shoes seating area that offered a more authentic experience as well!
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Still a cool store to visit but I am downgrading them for the poor quality of their onigiri. They are nicely wrapped and presented but were over 90% rice. The one shrimp one I had barely had one piece of shrimp inside. Really disappointing when we've generally been very satisfied with the products from this store. I think we'll stick with the packaged foods like the rice crackers and tea products.
google avatar

Angelina Z.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! I got a matcha latte and it was wonderful (ogawa never fails to hit). The cafe was a bit crowded (Saturday noon) so I took my drink outside. Hoping to come back to try their food items!
google avatar

Arianna L.

Yelp
Came here for dessert and loved the shaved ice! Portion is a fair size for about $8. I think it's a new summer special it it was super light and the store has many cool items for sale! They also sell chirashi and have plenty of open seating. The tables close to the ground make the place feel cozy and we were served pretty quickly with little wait time. Would definitely come again if I had the chance to visit. They have a tea summer special right now for drinks that I'd love to try given another opportunity.

Yelp
There are two separate stores for anyone visiting. Maruichi Japanese Food and Deli is the main supermarket with assorted Asian groceries but it mainly focuses on Japanese food. You might also find various stationaries, beauty products, and other neat things. Maruichi Select takes over for the former Gen Sou En with a bakery/restaurant that serves a wide variety of baked goods, coffee, lattes, and even curry rice. Besides serving food, you may also find a variety of booze (and tea, oddly enough) and imported Japanese kitchen utensils + plates. Maruichi is neater and cleaner than most other Asian supermarkets but may become crowded owing to how much stuff is packed into one storefront. Maruichi Select is a little bit more spacious since they seem to embody Marie Kondo's concept of minimalism while highlighting the store's wares. Definitely a highlight of any visit to Brookline. Yelp
My go-to place for a little Japanese delight! They have decent bento box selections, yet the best part is they offer mini-size Chirashi don. The store layout is exactly the same as it's predecessor GenSoEn tea house, and they have been slowly increasing menu items from the coffee bar.

Such a cute store with a ton of variety for the size! I came in here to get supplies to make sushi at home, and left with waaay more stuff than I needed thanks to the great selection. The store is split in half with all the prepared foods and grocery items on one side and all of the household items on the other. I spend most of my time in the grocery area where they have lots of produce, meat, seafood, frozen foods, and all the Japanese pantry items you could want. This time I bought both the sashimi grade tuna and salmon, along with some salmon roe, and was really happy with the quality. I made my own rolls at home, but will definitely be back to try some of the prepared options next time, I'm sure they're just as good. There's also an impressive selection of different cuts of waygu beef that are calling my name for next time. 4 stars instead of 5 because the place is always PACKED on the weekends, which makes it a little tricky to navigate, and it can be hard to find what you need when the staff is overwhelmed by all the customers. The prices are a bit high too, but you get what you pay for here in my experience. Another plus - this place is super accessible from the green line, and there's a big parking lot behind the back entrance with metered spots. Worth the trip to Brookline to check it out!

Yelp
Extensive selection of Japanese products. I wish I had more time to browse. Pro-tip: if you're looking for the prepared foods, like we were, I believe Maruichi tea house right across the street has a lot more food like ramen, bento boxes, and bowls. We were walking up and down the mart trying to find an actual meal and only saw the selection of nigiri and sushi, which was decidedly picked over on a Friday afternoon. Very disappointed that I didn't try more food but that's for another visit. The mart itself has a good range of products, from produce (certain kinds of greens and squash, which I can't find at TJs or Whole Foods) to beauty products to frozen meats/dumplings to even a small section devoted entirely to daifuku and taiyaki. Don't even get me started on the snack aisle, a sight for sore eyes. If you go further into the back, there's a shelf of clearance items. The staff was a little curt but they were just trying to get through the Friday traffic. I got two nigiris, a can of tea, a box of raspberry chocolate cookies, and some rice cracker snacks, which totaled to about $14. The nigiri, though it had been sitting out for a while, tasted fresh, the rice sweet and well-formed. I liked the eel one the most. Parking: Big metered parking lot right behind the store, with lots of spots. Street parking is notoriously tricky in Coolidge Corner so I recommend just going with the lot.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken and pork katsu and both were really crispy and reasonably priced. The curry is interesting since it has shredded chicken. Good portion size, would come back to try the udon :) Service is quick, you order and pay and wait to be called. The vibes of the cafe are nice as well, would be a good place to study. Super close to the Coolidge Corner stop on the T.

Yelp
I'm currently obsessed with Maruichi. The space is lovely with lots of seating. It gives me very cozy vibes. I frequently come here on my remote days of work and order an iced matcha latte. The service is quick and the staff is always very kind. The matcha is always sweet (but not too sweet) and refreshing. They occasionally have pop ups that are also fun to try. A few weeks ago, they partnered with Fujie Labo, and I got to try the limited edition matcha latte. The food is also very well priced. All of their entrees are pretty big. I've tried the curry, various onigiris, and the donburis. All have been very good! It's a great place to stop by for a quick lunch or dinner. It does get quite busy on the weekends, but I've never had a problem finding seats. One thing to note is that they do not have wifi. However, if you don't need internet or have a hotspot/xfinitywifi, it is a great place to study/work. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely love going here and will continue being a loyal customer.

Yelp
What can I say besides simply amazing?! From the decor to the food to the variety offered in the market itself. Everything is top top notch!!! The decor looks like something out of Japan with the light Japani styled wood that accompanies the ceiling and furniture. A live plant in the center of the market that you can sit around as your sip your coffee or eat from the food court?! The coffee was to die for. I highly recommend the iced Ogawa coffee, it's so underrated in a room filled with cups of matcha which don't get me wrong was phenomenal as well! The food court has a large array of Japanese foods from ramen to Dons. I had tried the katsu curry, Katsu Don, hand rolls, and onigiri and I would say everything overall is simply delicious! I really enjoyed the Katsu Don and the fresh sushi rice. The onigiri is made fresh as well, make sure you opt out for this one rather than the one in the fridge! Also fresh hand rolls that are packed for only $4?! You simply can't beat all this. All this food for under $50 is unheard of in this economy!! Also everything is self served from your food to the utensils. Don't forget to clean up after yourself! My favorite part of this whole experience is the tatami room in the center where you are expected to take off your shoes.

Yelp
The food was delicious! My friend and I came on a Friday night at 7pm and they were a bit busy so most of the tables were taken. There are plenty of tables and even an area where you sit on the floor. I had the chicken katsu teishoku which I thought was pretty well priced for the amount of food you get. I also had an iced matcha which was very smooth and delicious. The service was friendly and fast. Overall, I really enjoyed my food and experience here.

Yelp
Awesome Japanese food and grocery option in Brookline. Well-stocked with Japanese cooking staples, fresh produce, and a great selection of fish and meat. Be sure to visit the store on both sides of the street. Workers are always polite and helpful. Love the cafe-style seating area where you can enjoy a snack or meal. Absolutely worth a visit!!
