The 38 Best Restaurants in Vancouver, Canada | Eater

"Don’t worry, the queues for this West End ramen favorite move fast, and it’s always worth the wait — especially if you’re a noodle fan. Each day this small ramen shop makes 500 4.4-ounce balls of noodles, which rest for 24 hours before being cooked and slurped up. Hailing from Japan, Maruhachi favors a silky rich chicken broth over the heavier pork-based tonkotsu. Prepare to be enchanted — and don’t miss out on the egg. It’s consistently the best in the city. Know before you go: As the Maruhachi empire grows to several ramen-ya, check the website for details on specials only available at specific locations." - Nikki Bayley

On the Grid : Marutama Ra-men

"You always remember your first, right? Well, Marutama is where I finally understood “Umami,” and I will never forget that. This funky, jazzy, 3 year old, Japanese-run noodle house is, hands-down, the best ramen in the city. I keep wanting to try other menu items, but I can’t bring myself to not order the Ultimate Richly-Textured Cloudy Chicken Soup (pictured). Add a Yaki Cha Shu (grilled pork belly—also pictured) if you’re extra hungry; you’ll be glad you did." - Amer Alkhatib

Marutama Ra-men - Review - West End - Vancouver - The Infatuation

"There are some things that are bad to customize, like family photos on sequin pillow covers. Being able to customize at Marutama Ra-men, though, is why it’s is one of our favorite places to get ramen in Vancouver. Get their signature Tamago Ramen and choose your spice level (either mild or spicy - or ask for a side of their spicy sauce) and your noodle firmness (soft is ‘yawamen’ and al dente is ‘katamen’), then sprinkle some garlic chips and sesame seeds on top. You can order an extra egg, seaweed or braised pork to your bowl or add pork belly. And if you want an essentially bottomless bowl of ramen, keep adding extra noodles or broth for a few dollars, which if you do enough times you technically never have to stop eating while you’re here." - Shelley Mason

Authentic Japanese ramen store. Delicious ramen. We visited this ramen store in the late afternoon while there were less crowd. The store is not big but well designed so it feels spacious. The staff offered us baskets to put our bags and coats in. That's very convenient. The ramen was delicious. The broth was thick, well flavored and not too salty. The noodle's texture was great not soggy. The pork was tender and juicy. This is the right kind of hot comfort food you want to order at a chilly winter afternoon. By the time we left, the place began to get populated. When we passed the store the next day during lunch hour, there was a line waiting outside the door. We were luck to get in without waiting. This store will be in our pocket list for sure.

Wow! We tried so many different items and everybody in our group agreed the food was fantastic. Highlight of our trip. Prices were reasonable for quality , amazing food. Pork Fillet on rice was a must. And all the ramen dishes exceeded expectation. Went at 4pm Sunday afternoon. Great time to walk in. Usually a long wait.

Google
Chicken based ramen so really depends on your preference. Flavours were clean and had flavour add ons. Noodles were thin only so depends if you prefer thick like other ramen places.

Google
Delicous bowl of ramen. I am not a big ramen person so that says a lot. The noodles were made perfectly al dente as per requested. I was impressed by the 4 large piece of pork and an egg with each bowl. The pork slices were actually tender, moist and delicous. Broth was also good! The ramen here is better than many I've had in Japan. Staffs were nice and polite.

Google
Perfect bowl of ramen. It’s deceiving at first glance, it looks like a small bowl but it’s actually quite heavy. Broth is creamy and smooth. I like how that give you the regular or mild option. Noodles were a good bite.

The veggie curry was warming and delicious. The service and atmosphere could be better.

Google
I got the aka ramen, and it was decent. They provide sesame seeds, chili flakes, and umami salt seasoning to customize your bowl if needed. It was filling and good flavor.

The chicken soup base ramen tasted very good. It had deep flavor soup and chewy noodles. Chashu was soft and no pork smell and the egg was special!
