The 23 Best Restaurants In Oaxaca - Oaxaca - The Infatuation

"Masea, part bakery and part tortilla and atole shop, is all about corn and the ingredients of small Oaxacan producers. They offer eight varieties of atole, a pre-Hispanic nutritious corn drink made with tortilla, amaranth, wheat, sesame, or chocolate that comes served in clay pots. Next door, the bakery has gluten-free options like a corn pudding filled with guava jam, corn tortillas, and sourdough bread, as well as the excellent donattela, a tetela-shaped doughnut." - liliana lopez, mariana camacho

A famous local bakery you must try. Once you step in, you feel that is the place to have a nice pastry and hot chocolate for breakfast. Their tarts are great, passion fruit cheese tart and chocolate coffee cream tart are delicious.

Masea is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the service is impeccable—warm, attentive, and beyond anything you could expect. Their atoles are simply dreamy, and the bread is of the highest quality. What makes it even more special is that you can watch as they prepare everything, adding to the experience. I ended up buying one of each of the packaged atoles and their masa to make waffles. You can go upstairs to Tierra del Sol (their restaurant) to try the waffles (they’re delish). The space itself is stunning—everywhere you look is picture-worthy, making it almost impossible to put your camera down. If you’re a lover of good food, beautiful aesthetics, and top-notch hospitality, Masea is a must-visit! I’ll visit again soon!

Such friendly staff and large selection of breads and cookies. The caramel donut was AMAZING! The corn cookie was also pretty good.

This is a great bakery and cafe with a lot of options. I really love their cafe de olla, but the lattes are pretty good as well. The pastries are very well made, with really high-quality breads. I love the chocolate twist the most! It’s classic Mexican baking in the sense that the pastries aren’t overly sweet, which I appreciate. The interior of the bakery is also really aesthetically beautiful! It’s a very pleasant place to sit and hang out for a while. The Wi-Fi is also very good. Definitely a spot to try out for breakfast when in Oaxaca. It’s also nice to note that the Botanical Gardens are right next door.

Food was good though I didn’t think the beef tongue with mole was tender. The tetelas didn’t taste as fresh as I expected nor the complementary memelas. I tried the guayabo atole and it was good though I would have preferred it a bit sweeter. Their pastries are good! They have a great rooftop on the third floor!

Would Return. Worth Trying. A really cool bakery attached next to a well known Mole place. Only tried their Chocolate Coffee Cream Tart, which was light, not too sweet, and well balanced between coffee and chocolate. Reasonable pricing. Would love to try more. Cash and Card.

This is one of those places you found and don't want to go anywhere else. All pastries, bread and coffee are amazing. The staff is very polite and speaks english if that matters. Interior and music are simple and chic. Amor!

I’ve gone to get bread and an atole on the go. The Champurrado is delicious and the cookie de maíz. They have a wide variety of different atoles and all are delicious.
