17 Satisfying Soups to Keep You Cozy in Los Angeles

"Massy Soups is in the process of opening a brick-and-mortar space, but temporarily operating out of Sky’s Gourmet Tacos. Everything on the menu, especially the mushroom soup, tastes homemade and comforting in the best way." - Eater Staff

This soup was seriously good!! Very impressive. I got the Cauliflower Vichyssoise soup and it was so rich and flavorful! It was so close to getting a 5 star if it wasn't for the bacon (i chose to add the chopped bacon). I wish the bacon would have been cooked better and chopped up smaller. It would have provided a better experience all around vs larger floppy chunks. I'm excited for the brick & mortar location to open to get a better sense of service and atmosphere. I wasn't a huge fan of the experience with the virtual kitchen. But the soup was so good, it outweighs the con's. I'm excited to try the other flavors. As for price, totally worth every penny of the $14.99 per pint. I've paid more for worse tasting food in L.A.

Best soups in town. I had the Sweet Pea; it was delicious to the last spoon full.

The 'backstory' of Massy Soups – recipes created by Hollywood legend Marlene Dietrich for her family and friends and recreated by her grandson David Riva – is what first piqued our interest, but the quality and taste of these amazing soups are every bit as impressive as other 5-star reviewers have indicated. Our favorites are the Cauliflower Vichyssoise and the Classic Chicken soup, but we'd recommend all their flavors after trying samples!

$17 for this thimble sized bowl of soup that came frozen. Complete waste of $

These soups are delicious! The mushroom soup is fabulous and the carrot ginger is also excellent. You can have it delivered but we picked up at the location which is actually Sky’s Tacos but you can have the soup served hot and eat it there. HIGHLY recommend!!

This review is for the Spilt Pea Soup with Crispy Bacon on the side. This split pea has a wonderful silky smooth mouth feel and was seasoned to perfection. Sad that my husband and I finished it in one seating! Will definitely order it again.

Recently, I was looking desperately for soup for a friend that was under the weather. I had tried all the local options for soup when I got COVID twice. They were all kind of basic. Chicken soup and more chicken soup. As this friend needed extra TLC, I was thrilled to find Massy Soup via pick-up at Sky’s Tacos. They put together a care package for him which he could re-heat and then decided, when in Rome! So set myself up with three of their soups for myself too. I tried the mushroom, the carrot ginger and the classic chicken soup. I am very conscious about what I put in my body--the best ingredients only and nothing processed. These soups were yummy, not too rich and not too spicy. They hit the spot. The packaging is attractive and I appreciate that it’s served frozen so I can only heat up what I need. The mushroom was the best mushroom soup I have ever had. The carrot ginger was lovely and creamy with just the right amount of ginger so it didn’t overpower but instead complemented the carrot. Keep in mind it took me a week to finish the 3 orders. None of the soups were too salty and all of them left we wanting more. If you know what they charge for soups at Erewhon, the prices here are very fair. What Chasen’s was to chili, Massy is to soup. I am a pescatarian and with an urge I splurged and tried the Chicken soup. It was the best Chicken soup ever. So happy I rarely do chicken but bravo.

Yelp
Whoever answers the phone whenever I call Massy Soups has this like David Attenborough voice that makes me just want to call and talk to him. His customer service is top notch, and just is an all around kind human. Thanks for guiding me to your temporary store front. If you step inside of Skys Tacos, (which is an institution in its own right) you will find the Massy Soups. I licked the spoon, drank the bowl, of Carrot Ginger, and Split Pea. The soups rock, usually soup is bland, boring, salty, or some other form of a mess. The soup here tells a story, has flavor, and tastes more like you blended a neighborhood of flavor town into a bowl. I'll be back. In the words of Mr Dice Clay, "what's in the bowl" (you can finish the rest)

Yelp
First of all, Massy Soups is not a standalone business. There is no sign outside advertising Massy Soups. It was difficult to locate because it's within another food business, a taco establishment with another name. Inside, they have a separate menu for the soups. I was a little appalled with the price of soup being $15. Nevertheless, I ordered since I was hungry and I expected a pretty hearty portion considering the photos on the menu made them look pretty good. I ordered the minestrone soup. It took about 15 minutes for the soup to come out. The bowl however was half the size I expected it to be, and it came with macaroni on the side, it was not even mixed into the soup. When I opened the container with the macaroni, I noticed that it was completely frozen! A staff member saw me tapping the top of the macaroni and realized right away that I was served frozen pasta and had someone take it back and bring me a heated portion. I added it to the soup, but it did not make the soup any better. In reality, the soup tasted like something I could've made at home myself or by simply opening a can of Progresso. I was still hungry after. The inside of the restaurant is fairly small with only a few stools at the counter. If you're here during a lunch rush, forget about sitting inside, but there are more seats outside. The vibe of this restaurant is clearly more about tacos and the soups take a backseat. Definitely not worth the money and I won't be back. I gave two stars only because they seemed pretty embarrassed about the frozen pasta and worked to resolve it.

Yelp
Amazing soups and great service. Even when the delivery service screwed up (which was not due to any fault of Massy's), th eowner was instrumental in making sure that credits were issued and soup re-delivered. If you like soups - this is the place!

Yelp
The soup is hands down perfection. I need to buy in bulk. Fresh herbs, pieces of white chicken, chincha of carrots and celery. I absolutely loved it! Chicken Soup***

Yelp
The chicken noodle soup is incredibly good and the service is outstanding but the portion size is incredibly small. $15 seems a little pricey for a tiny cup of soup

Yelp
I actually had soup that is real good soup. Massy Soups. The stuff only your grandmother had time to make. The freshness, the flavor, the taste of real care. I have ordered and enjoyed just about all, the mushroom, vichyssoise, lentil and cauliflower soups. Which soup do I like best...For real ALL..But let me add which is important to me..I lost weight. Had the soup for dinners during the week, a couple times added a little salad and yep I lost weight, 5 lbs. Filling, but not overload. Delivery was easy and on time...Loved enjoying this soup in the my room watching the news...

Yelp
These soups are all wonderful - difficult to make choices since I loved them all and can conveniently pick them up or have them delivered. I have recommended Massy Soups to my "soup loving" friends and they all agree that both the flavors and quality are outstanding!

Yelp
Outstanding customer service! The soups are absolutely fantastic - a must-try! The owner's passion for the restaurant shines through in every dish; it's clear that a lot of love goes into the food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Flavorful soup. Just didn't catch on the reviews that it was frozen. You do need to heat up at home after pickup. Pick up area is also located inside Sky's Taco.
