Master Donuts

Master Donuts is a cute and clean spot with good prices and plenty of parking. The donuts are fresh and sweet, though many of them taste quite similar. Still a nice place to grab a quick treat or drink!

One of the best cheese danishes I have had and I've had many because I love them so much. The pastry itself and the cream along with the fruit topping is perfect. I think what makes a really good Danish is the actual dough being used and this dough is buttery and flakey. Great breakfast sandwiches as well. Inexpensive yet quality food.. you just can't beat that.

On occasion, my family and I enjoy their donuts when we’re in the area. We absolutely love everything from them. From the apple fritters to the jelly donuts and donut holes - my husband and two sons devour them quickly. I restrain myself as best as I can but I end up eating more than I anticipate. When I’ve gone, I’ve noticed others purchase their kolaches so those will be ordered on our next pickup.

The donuts are delicious. My first time trying them and they were one of the best donuts I've tried. I have gone to a couple of donuts shops around this area and I feel like this one is one of the best one. 😊 10/10 recommend.

Very fast and very friendly staff! This place must be popular because I came at 7:00am on a Tuesday and it was packed and the cases were starting to empty out. The apple fritter was nice and crispy but I wish it had more cinnamon flavor to it. The regular donuts and nice and fluffy and buttery.

Excellent find on the southside of Austin! Amazing pastries and their displays look beautiful as well. They have a variety a breakfast sandwiches, kolaches, and all sorts of sweet pastries that include Donuts. The staff was super friendly as we were greeted as soon as we walked in and they even included several handfuls of donut holes with our order! From the reviews, it's looks like their sandwiches are worth coming in for as well!

Expensive. And you have to count your money before buying. I gave them a 20 dollar bill and they gave me change for a 10. I questioned it but she showed me a 10. My money was gone and I wasn't going to argue at 5 am. I had already wondered before I went into the place whether they would take a 20. I know now they certainly will. Caution: Watch what they charge and watch your money. They didn't get the 2 donut order correct either I had to remind them. The whole transaction was rather like I was being taken advantage of. Not a good feeling. And their donuts are more expensive than any place I've been to. Apple fritter and blueberry cake w small coffee is over 6 dollars. They taste good but for the price, even discounting the 20 dollars, they should taste out of this world. Bad experience all the way around.

I was a little skeptical at first but I'm SO HAPPY we gave them a shot!!! Ordered custom donuts for a birthday party. Blue with an assortment of toppings. I had asked on the form about adding fillings to half of them. When they called to verify the order they kindly explained that the custom letters can't be filled due to the shapes and discussed easily adding on 6 filled regular shaped donuts - EASY. They then sent the invoice via text, easy to pay, receipt emailed and pickup was a breeze. I will absolutely be using them again - the kids loved them they tasted and looked great and reasonably priced. We'll done Master Donuts!

I stumbled upon this place while staying with a friend on the East side and I was amazed! Absolutely delish kolaches. The spicy boudin is a great. The other thing they had, that I've never seen before, is the master kolache. It had egg, ham, sausage, and cheese. You really only need one of those and you'll be full to the brim. This spot is 10/10! I'll be back!

Got donuts for a friends birthday!! They were really yummy and looked so cute!! A little over priced but for a special occasion it was worth it!

When I'm in need of a lite breakfast snack, Master Donuts never disappoints. I love their large croissant kolaches which I usually pair with a cinnamon roll or apple fritter. I could absolutely ruin myself with all of the choices to start off my day but I yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin however the delectable delights in this venue keep me returning again and again!

Have it your way! They make anything pre order. Only downside is that if you walk in, they might be slacking on inventory. I typically come in later so it's understandable.

A friend and I were staying in Austin and ran out of coffee at our accommodations on our last day! Coffee is a must for me and I needed it that morning. I initially went to a nearby café because my friend wanted an Americano, but unfortunately when I got to that café something was broken and they couldn't offer any hot drinks! [and we both like our coffee warm] So I found Master Donuts close by to stop in for some regular brewed coffee. It's very straightforward with their donuts, pastries, and coffee! The woman who was there was friendly and kind, and helped me pick a little snack. [go for the blueberry donut if you're down! :D] Got two large coffees, she put it in a little carrier tray for me, AND surprised me with two little donut holes with my donut! [I didn't realize that until I was back at the accommodations] Super happy with the entire experience and super happy I tipped with cash because she deserved it! :D Enjoy!

Very good donuts and kolaches. I had a jalapeño and regular. Both sausage. The jalapeño was best. Also had an apple fritter. Not as good as southern Indiana but still good.

Awesome place with unique donuts! They are way better than voodoo. Check out their instagram! They do custom donut orders as well as donut letters which are perfect for whatever event you are hosting. I ordered donuts for a fundraiser and they turned out amazing! Y'all, I LOVE this place! I've gotten their donuts several times - once for the royal wedding, another for a friend's birthday, and another for our wedding! We wanted to do a donut board that my husband made and asked for a variety, and then they asked for our hashtag and then they hand-iced our hashtag on a lot of the donuts! SO COOL! Not only do they do amazing letter donuts for birthdays and such, they are straight up GOOD donuts. Only problem? I live too close so I'm always tempted to go

I'm torn on this place. The first time I ordered happy birthday donuts they did an amazing job. Colorful and well presented. I got another one today and the 'variety of colorful donuts' included white, brown and blue. They also didn't have a box for it so stuffed my son's name into a small box. It sort of ruined the 'happy birthday' message. I know they couldn't magic a larger box out of thin air but they said the supplier was out so they knew they wouldn't have them. It would have been helpful to know when they confirmed the order that morning so we could have purchased a cake box somewhere else. Overall, the donuts are cute. If you do order, I'd recommend you be really specific.

Fantastic job creating memorable donuts for my anniversary! There was a slight miscommunication when it came to pickup timing but that was made up for the second I bit into one of the donuts. Delicious!

This is my go to when I need donuts for work. They have a good selection of donuts to choose from. One of my favorites are their kolaches. The regular and jumbo size. If I'm getting a kolache just for me I like the jumbo but if I'm being nice and get a dozen to share with my coworkers then I get the regular size. They also carry a few breakfast sandwiches either made with a biscuit or croissant. Awesome spot with good service and legit donuts

The people working here are great and so kind. We came to try them out and get some decent cake donuts which haven't been the easiest to find here in Austin. They were delicious and a big hit at my daughter's birthday party. We also came to place a custom letter donut order for my daughter's birthday. We also tried the jalapeño sausage kolache since I saw so many good reviews on here for them and they were awesome. The donuts were simple and done well and that's what I was looking for

I guess it's nice to have a local doughnut shop but I'll keep going to Combo Doughnuts in Lamar. I went out of the way to try them this morning and was met with a pitiful selection. The variety of breakfast items was not bad so I purchased a ham, egg, and cheese croissant and a small sausage kolache plus a pair of glazed doughnuts. The kolache was good, not greasy, dough texture and taste were good. Croissant was tough to chew, both bread and ham. Egg was good. The doughnuts were not of the quality I have become used to. Strange aftertaste that sticks with you. Texture of the dough was chewy but the glaze not too heavy. I should have gone back to Combo but wanted to see if this place had what it takes. If you live close by, it's good enough.

I'm not really sure how to describe it but this food gives me so much positive energy to carry throughout the day. This has become my favorite places to get breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee in Austin. The staff is super friendly and efficient as well. What a hidden gem. This place is really the best.

"Dis" is going to sound harsh. The amount of oil absorbed by the donuts means too many frying at once and the temp in the fryer drops. The after taste was "dis"gusting as a result. The flavor was a little odd as if, the jalapeno kolaches were cooked in the same oil? Not sure? Couldn't put my finger on it? Today was not a good day for "dis" place. May I suggest changing the "M" in Master Donuts to "Dis" as in, Dis-aster donuts. You have to earn the "M" back. I didn't try anything else, just drove the 10 miles to see what all the reviews were about on the donuts.

Love this little donut shop. Everything is the perfect price. Kolaches and donuts are really good. They always throw in some free donut holes. There's a credit card minimum so if you're coming solo then bring cash!

We ordered doughnuts from Master Doughnuts for our wedding reception, as it was a morning wedding. First, placing the order was a breeze. They were SO kind and helpful..they explained everything and even offered solutions and suggestions. We ordered two weeks in advance and they called the day before to verify the order. My maid of honors boyfriend picked up the order and I was pretty nervous. They had everything ready to go, and even threw in a big bag of donut holes on top of our order!! We were beyond excited with the way everything turned out and they all tasted incredible!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone, especially for the specialty letters, they did a wonderful job!

This place is amazing!!! Went in after the crazy winter storm to get some donuts and kolaches for all of my co-workers that endured the insane week. Everyone loved everything. One co-worker said, "now THIS is a kolache!" and proceeded to eat three. The blueberry donut was my favorite. By far the BEST blueberry donut I've had in Austin. Customer service was awesome as well. Random side note, yelp says California under my name, but I've lived in Austin for 3 years and I've never lived in California.

Cute place, friendly owners. The glazed donut holes were light and fluffy and perfect but my apple fritter was too heavy and full of grease. I also tried the egg, potato and cheese taco and it was kind of flavorless. I had to salt it and I never add salt to my food. My husband had a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. I asked him how it was while I'm trying to write this and he said "Uh, yeaahh...I liked it but the eggs were in a weird, pre-cooked, flat square." I asked him what the "square" tasted like and he said it could have not been on there and it would have tasted the same (read: bland). They have pictures up of custom orders your can do to spell out a message like "Happy Birthday" in donuts. Very cute. The glazed donuts seem tasty so I'm sure that would make a unique gift to send someone. Or, like what if you spelled out "Feelings" in donuts and had it delivered to yourself on a bad day? That could be fun.

There's lots of goodness at the Master Donut but here are some highlights: *About 20 varieties of donuts, including Chocolate Ganache w/ Pecans, White Chocolate w/ Fruit Cereal, Chocolate w/ Coconut Shreds, and Blueberry w/ Lemon Glaze--my favorite! *This isn't your typical donut shop that serves up mediocre kolaches as an afterthought though...just while I was in line this morning, the 3 people ahead of me only ordered kolaches! *MD also has breakfast tacos & savory donuts...but if you're looking for something substantial I would stick with a kolache *A few free donut holes with every order : D *Sadly no espresso drinks, but they have regular coffee and a huge refrigerator full of bottled drinks, including Arizona Tea, Gatorade, and Coke products *Always smiley and friendly employees *Clean clean CLEAN. I just read a quote by Bourdain where he said that he won't eat at a restaurant with a dirty bathroom because if they can't be bothered to clean something that the customer sees, you can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. *Cheapest prices in town! $0.69 per donut, or $6.99 for a dozen! *They make great gifts! Their boxes are adorable, so I often pick up half a dozen for friends to brighten their morning. They also do made-to-order donut letters which make for the perfect birthday present! *Unlike most donut places, MD stays open (and continues cranking out delicious donuts) until 2 pm, although if you want some of the unique options mentioned above, you better get there before 9 am! Luckily Master Donut is in my hood, but it's definitely good enough on both the kolache and donut fronts to justify a drive across town.

Great doughnut shop open early in the morning that has more than just donuts. They also have kolaches and breakfast tacos. I came in one day and got a doughnut, a kolache, and a breakfast taco. All were very good in their own way. The glazed doghnut in particular is light and fluffy - a nice contrast to say the Krispy Kremes of the world. Family owned business that'd I'd support by returning again.

These donuts are just ok. They're thicker than regular donuts which is not my fave. Check it out if you want something different, but not a place I'll go to again.

We had high hopes for Master Donuts and tried to cater donuts for our daughters' school party. We placed the order more than a week advance and drove all the way down and were told that the donuts weren't made and would not be ready until the following day...maybe. It was disappointing and the lack of urgency much less professionalism was not what we expected from a place that has such great reviews. Don't get me wrong, their food looks amazing, but we will believe when we can actually taste one.

Delicious! We tried the donut holes as there were no more plain glazed donuts available. We tried the kolaches and a creme filed donut and a taco. Donuts were delicious. But the creme filled really needed more creme inside. There was hardly a dollup. The taco was good. The kolaches I guess were a hit because they were gone so fast I do not know who ate them. What I really liked was the donut...the texture and flavor of the holes and the donut part of the creme filled donut was superb!

The main purpose of heading to Master Donuts was to try the kolatche. This Texas tradition has a sausage in the middle of a sweet puffy dough - like a jumbo pig-in-a-blanket. This place was the closest one that had a big selection. I had the jalapeno sausage version plus an apple fritter and blueberry cake donut. They threw in a few holes for free. I did enjoy the kolatche, especially the sweet-savory combination and the uniqueness aspect. The fritter was above average, but I was not impressed with the blueberry cake. I do not think Master Donuts was worth the extra drive, but it is a good option for the neighborhood. Thanks for the memories!

So after our wonderful experience at Master Donuts today, I had to return to leave some more positive feedback. I love that Master Donuts is part of the neighborhood. We come here at least once a week, normally for a weekend treat. I was so excited to walk in today and see that they have started making ham and cheese kolaches (a request on my last review)! We immediately ordered 4 and they were absolutely delicious! Thank you for listening. Not only did they recognize us from our review, they paid attention to our recommendations and delivered nicely. Awesome treats, and thanks again for the free donut holes! The level of customer service has totally won us over. We won't go anywhere else :)

You can't go wrong with Master Donuts! My husband and I have tried them many times and have never been disappointed. The kolaches are always fresh and the donuts are tasty. I personally have ordered these custom donuts a few times and they are a hit at a party. Give them a try :)

My grandson loved having donuts instead of a cake. I ordered in advance and was called to confirm and pay the day before pickup. Everything was exactly as I requested. The letters were really a cute way to celebrate his big day.

We popped in on a whim and OH MY GOD these legit might be the best donuts in Austin. Also, it's cute, clean, and the people working there were SO friendly and informative. They do these super cute birthday letter donuts and the girl was so helpful and nice. Love this place.

Usually love the breakfast sandwiches when they're fresh however on the first day of a new job I wanted to do something nice for my colleagues and bought a dozen of assorted donuts and they gave me old donuts that tasted like old grease ! Guess I got there too early. I'd ask for fresh or don't buy anything at this place it very embarrassing to show up at a new job with the new staff and I have to give them old donuts that tasted like old oil Clean your oil up and stop serving old product. It the reason I don't go to Sugar Mamas either bc cheating people and disposing your leftovers onto loyal customers is not a place I will ever support.

Nice, small locally owned donut shop. I loved that they have an online form for custom donuts. It made the process very easy. The donuts turned out great! Everyone at work loved them. At only $1/donut, it couldn't have been better.

Open 4th of July 2019. Friendly staff and loved their sausage, cheese, and jalapeño croissant. Will be coming back for more.

Great food all around here. They have donuts, kolaches, breakfast sandwiches, etc. and all are good and fairly priced. Not to mention, the people that work here are always so nice. I definitely recommend!!

This place turned out different than I expected from the other reviews. Not a really big selection, they didn't warm my donuts, and the "capuccino" comes out of a gas station machine. The donuts taste fine, just like any old donut, and not really as cheap as a Shipley's or somewhere else. I don't think I'll go back.

Good donut shop with a lot of flavors/toppings to choose from. They make letter donuts for only $1 each, so I had them make me letter donuts for my wedding dessert bar spelling out HOKE WEDDING. Turned out perfect!

Upon waking up early at the Hyatt Lost Pines at a work retreat, I felt my need for a craft coffee and donut nagging at me than ever. Fortunately, 71 East of 35 is a breeze in the morning. I jetted into East Austin to grab some joe and punched in "donuts" on my way back. Lo and behold, East Riverside boasts quite the selection of donut shops. Here, you find decent options with some of the better pricing in town. Not that the 6100 address block is often considered "in town." At $1.50/dozen of donut holes, the $6 I spent provided 8 people far more calories, sugar, and oil than they might have wanted at 9AM.

Breakfast tacos were delicious! They had a great variety to choose from which was awesome to find. Their donuts are also great, I'll be back to try their kolaches for sure!

I can't say enough about Master Donuts. They have the friendliest staff. They go above and beyond on service there. Every time I have gone in, I always walk out happy and they give you an extra treat either it be an extra donut or some donut holes. I have never been disappointed with anything I've gotten. Highly recommend them!

They made some birthday donuts for my daughter and they were a hit! They were as pretty as they were delicious.

I had been seeing the letter-shaped donuts on IG for a while lately, and when my daughter's birthday approached, she specifically requested donuts instead of cupcakes this year; I searched for a local baker to make the donuts and found Master. Ordering online was very easy and I even got a quick confirmation email shortly afterwards. I picked up the donuts a few days later and they looked great. The lady at the counter was cordial. After looking at the other goodies in the case, I also decided to order a jalepeno sausage kolache (with a Big Red to boot). I ate the kolache in the car and headed to my daughter's school to deliver these delicious looking morsels of pastry heaven. After getting ambushed by a mob of sugar-crazed 2nd graders, my mission was complete. I didn't get to taste a donut, as planned, but judging by the pleads for second helpings by the students, I can safely presume that the donuts were five star worthy. I've developed an addiction. Love their breakfast tacos, sour cream donuts, and plain donut holes. Everything is always fresh and service is so sweet and helpful. I come every time I do laundry and sometimes when I don't.

By far the best donuts and kolaches in town... and I've tried them all. They are located on east Riverside but well worth the short commute.

Best donuts in Austin! Highly recommend the glazed donuts and jalapeño sausage and cheese kolaches. They are so soft and warm. They make fresh batches only so make sure you get there early! I can't wait to go back to try everything else. Paulina handles the custom orders for special occasions and she's very informative and receptive to what you want. Very nice family owned shop. Service is quick and pricing is very affordable, a dozen of donut holes for $1.50? Yes, please!
