"Matthew’s Restaurant has been a staple in town for years. While the regular dinner menu is always good, the Chef’s Adventure Tasting Menu is a true experience. The six-course menu is $95 per person or $145 with wine tastings added on. The tasting menu typically has a stuffed pasta course, a crudo course, and a more filling meat course, along with clever desserts. Special attention is paid to the plating and presentation, where dishes may come out under smoking domes and more." - Megan duBois

"One of the most acclaimed restaurants in Jacksonville is Matthew’s Restaurant in the San Marco neighborhood. The restaurant combines French and Mediterranean cuisine into dishes that use sustainable seafood along with farm-to-table produce. The menu is filled with options like Hawaiian tuna tartare served with a lemongrass broth and refreshing ginger-compressed cucumber. For a classic entree consider the beef tenderloin, which comes with a fragrant truffled bread pudding and brown butter baby carrots." - Megan duBois

We were very blown away by the entire experience from start to finish. The valet opened our car door and said Welcome and Happy Birthday Audra. I still have no idea how he knew who we were? Then we proceeded to order the Chefs 6 course dinner with wine pairings. It was masterfully executed. Every course was amazing. Perfectly balanced and delicious! I am very picky and quick to point out errors. But Matthew’s absolutely blew me away! This was the best dining experience I’ve ever had in North Florida. Salute to the Chef, the server and the entire staff. Well done my friends. You’ve earned a loyal follower. Whenever I have a special occasion, Matthew’s is where I will be! Wow! Our server was fantastic. Forgive me but I think his name was Ryan. My receipt says Porter. I’m not sure. But the entire team was very professional and on point! Great job guys! Thank you for such a special night that we will never forget! Bravo! 5 stars!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I recently dined here and had a mixed experience. I tried the special of the night—the sea bass—which was just okay and lacked a bit of flavor. The steak tartare was definitely unique, they used gochujang paste which gave it an interesting twist, though it may not be for everyone. The standout dish for me was the tahini eggplant—absolutely delicious! The lamb chops were well-seasoned and cooked nicely. For dessert, we had the soufflé, which was good but didn’t blow me away. The ambiance was decent I liked the open kitchen concept but overall, it felt like something was missing. On the bright side, the service was excellent. Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive, which I really appreciated. Overall, it’s a good spot to try once, but not a place I’d personally rush back to.

This was amazing! As new parents we haven’t gone out much just us, so we splurged on ourselves and did the tasting menu. It was worth every penny and absolutely delicious. They brought out the scallop, house made pasta with braised short rib, lamb.. my only “complaint” is that the dessert they brought out, bread pudding, ruined all other bread puddings for me because it was THAT good!!! Hands down the best dining experience we’ve had. Also service was top notch!

Incredible! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. Cricket’s greeting set the tone for a personalized and special evening, and Carl and Jess’s attentive service really made us feel like VIPs. The food was exceptional, each course crafted with care and bursting with flavor. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the dining experience. We left feeling truly impressed and grateful for such a memorable night! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for top-tier service and unforgettable food. Thank you also to Chris, Becca and the Chef!

We recently hosted our wedding reception in the Wine Room at Matthew's and we could not recommend it enough. From our first dining experience to the end of our wedding night, every single thing was perfect. The staff are incredible - Maribeth, the private dining coordinator, was an absolute gem to work with. She is prompt in her responses to emails and always took the time out to meet with us and our coordinators when necessary. Our wait staff the night of our wedding were all amazing, and I cannot thank them enough for everything they did. The food? Fabulous as always. I'm sure preparing and plating 41 meals at once can be difficult, but you would never know it with the easy and expertise in which it was handled. Highly recommend. Matthew's is, and will always be, our place for special celebrations.

Bring family, friends and co-workers. From the start of your experience with the amazing valet to the lounge service and then the exquisite dining service you will be overwhelmed with not only the delicious food but the exceptional service. Our waitress and waiter Jessica and Carl made us feel like we were the only guests in the room with their attentiveness, food suggestions and amazing service. Chef Alex’s dishes are divine we had the Asian lettuce, escargot, charcuterie board, duck, braised beef, pasta and ended with the delicious chocolate tort. The wine selection and cocktail selection are exceptional. The entire staff made sure dinner was not just about the food but the experience. We are excited to be going again.

The service, ambiance, and food were exceptional, in that order. We started the night with a warm welcome from Cricket and Makayla, and received outstanding service from Peter. We had the perfect spot that was quaint and cozy. Then came the food! The smoked salmon and beet salad were delightfully refreshing, while the escargot and foie gras were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed soaking up the soup with some bread—yum! Next were the entrees: Chilean sea bass and duck. Both dishes were very tasty, although I’m not a fan of truffles, so I’ll skip those next time. We topped off the meal with a nice, refreshing sorbet. All in all, it was an amazing experience!

Matthew’s Restaurant is has an amazing vibe the lounge area is beautiful and the drinks and appetizers are amazing. In the main dining room there is an open kitchen concept that allows you to experience the magic happening. The food is amazing and the portions are a nice size. The wine list is extensive and the staff were all just so delightful. This is an experience that you will never forget. The Medure Family has done it again!

Yelp
Another enjoyable happy hour experience. I loved the daiquiri, $8 at happy hour prices. The sliders with brie from the bar bites menu ($13 during happy hour) were good to very good, better than I remembered. I liked the escargot from the regular menu ($17), though maybe not quite as much as I remembered. Get the plain rolls and use the salty part of the butter on them, and also sop up the escargot's sherry cream sauce with them. I didn't like the house sparkling wine ($6 at happy hour prices) as much as I remembered, preferring my daiquiri. We also got the souffle from the regular menu ($15); I wouldn't repeat this particular one (chocolate with caramel sauce and pecans, IIRC), though I fondly remember their souffles in the past. It came to $75 for the five items and tip. Maybe try some of the sides from the regular menu ($8; a squash with gorgonzola looked tempting) next time. Maybe also try one of the little tables near the door, which look cute, though I do like being at the bar for Josh's expert service. I always enjoy happy hour here and I'll be back.

Yelp
Matthew's Restaurant is as good as everyone says it is! I'd been here before for cocktails during Happy Hour but hadn't had any of their food. We decided to go here for my birthday which proved to be a perfect occasion! I decided that I wanted to do the Chef's tasting adventure. We choose to do the 6-course experience and added on the wine pairings. You do have the option to add extra courses on but honestly, I don't think you need it. We were stuffed after our 4th course! For a tasting menu we found the portions to be very generous. Everything was absolutely incredible and we loved the wines that were paired with the meal. Our server was AMAZING and made it a truly standout occasion. The personalized menu which was then signed by the staff was such a thoughtful and special touch! I do highly recommend making a reservation before going.

Ravindra M.

Yelp
Amazing food with elegant presentation. Probably the best customer service we have experienced in Jax from the valet to the wait staff. I have to give kudos to Sam, his understudy, Melissa and Robert for their attentive and polite interactions with us. The Ambiance was cozy and quiet. We had a great view of the kitchen with the chefs busily preparing our meals. We ordered cocktails which were refreshing and well made. I could not choose a favorite dish as everything was wonderful/ I could not include the dessert pics as I was limited in this post. It's worth a reservation!

Yelp
For our Anniversary dinner, my wife wanted to try Matthews' Chef's Adventure Menu. "Let our chefs take you on a culinary voyage with our 6-course adventure tasting menu ; a creative twist in this season's flavors." Tasting menu is currently $95 per person or $145 per person when paired with wine. It's omakase-style so you won't know what you're having. 1st Course - Tuna Crudo with orange segments, orange fennel, radish, puff rice (enjoyed this) 2nd Course - Blue Lump Crab cake with sriracha aioli and pickled onions (my favorite) 3rd Course - Creamy Polenta with brown butter mushrooms, poached egg, chive oil 4th Course - Lamb Chop with roasted Romanesco, spinach purée, paprika oil, farro (I prefer medium, but this was still too rare for me) 5th Course - St. Nectaire, Olive tapenade, herb focaccia 6th Course - Chocolate tart and Mascarpone moose (tasted like dark chocolate which I didn't care much of) I was skeptical when my wife wanted to book this tasting menu. I rather order from the menu so at least I know what I'm having, but hey "Happy Wife Happy Life" right? Don't get me wrong food was delicious, but not enough for me. Was still hungry when we left. Service was extraordinary though. Staff worked well as a team.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try a tasting menu in any restaurant and decided to go with with Matthew's mainly due to good reviews and no need to pre-pay. I know it was going to be pricey, so what better way to splurge than to celebrate a special occasion. So I finally convinced my husband and made a reservation for our anniversary. The six-course adventure tasting menu was indeed a surprise since the food will be revealed as they serve. I was already expecting small portions of food but it was really a few bites per course lol. Good thing I ate 2 pieces of bread before the main event. Also, I ate and chew slooooowly to savor each meal :) The 6 courses were the ff: Tuna Crudo - very light and tasty! Crab Cake - delicious! It was just all crab and amazing seasoning! Polenta with brown butter mushrooms- simple yet flavorful! Lamb Chops - this was just okay for me. I know my husband would've wanted more lol St. Nectaire - forgot to take a picture of this. But it's a baked Brie cheese on a sourdough bread with a balsamic glaze. I enjoyed this. Chocolate Tart with masculine mousse - did not really wow me. Excellent service but I was not really impressed with the food, I guess because I had high expectations. Definitely a great experience but will probably not do it again. We will still go back but will order from the menu next time.

Yelp
Caroline was outstanding! We have a one year who we had a babysitter and noticed she moved the courses faster for us which appreciated: did the wine tasting pairing and 6 course menu: usually there is one course that is a dud but every course was so good: we want to go back and take our parents there as well.

Hayley G.

Yelp
Fancy and unique restaurant in Jacksonville. The staff is very formal and polite. The food was delicious and cooked fresh. Valet is an easy option as well if you decide to try it out!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Incredible! We had such an amazing experience here. Our waiter Phillip was funny and friendly. We got the chefs 6 sampler and loved it! I ordered a mocktail and they made something special for me that was so delicious, all I said was "half sweet" and they read my mind. Each taster was phenomenal and you could tell home made. I absolutely appreciated the fact that we were told happy anniversary so many times and it was a nice touch to put it on the menu! The valet was a lifesaver as we'd never been to the area and didn't know where to park. I love that the valet takes Venmo, so convenient because we didn't have cash. The booth we were in was possibly the most comfy booth I'd ever been in. It was smooth and my legs didn't stick (ladies you know what I'm talking about lol ). We would definitely come back!!!!

Bailee A.

Yelp
Incredible. I'm not big on trying super new things but wow this was amazing. The entire dinner was spot on and the staff was amazing. The ambiance was very nice and matched the menu. They also have a bar you can goto for a drink! We will be back!

Michelle B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Service was impeccable. Our server Ryan was so attentive and explained the entire menu to us. Every bite was better than the last. Don't skip out on the muscles, the broth was so flavorful. We will be back.

Yelp
Turned away from the dining room after reserving four $115 six-course tasting menus, and planning on doing a few wine pairings so quite a bit of business was turned away. Apparently somewhere on the website it says there is a business casual dress code and they do enforce it. The hostess offered to let us sit in their small lounge area, but I'm certainly not spending upwards of $500 at a restaurant that will not let me eat in the dining area. Unpleasant experience.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Very classy spot! A bit small, but top notch in service and the food was great quality. Food was small portions but tender and delicious. I'm not sure if I would come back. But it's certainly a spot to have a great date night. It's a wonderful spot, but I didn't feel like the menu was speculator and feels too small and crowded. Parking is a bit annoying to find but we did valet.

Stephen L.

Yelp
Wow ! Matthews ! We came for Valentine's Day with 6 people. It was a nice vibe ! The service was 5* - the food was even better - you can't wear a ball cap here and that was saddest part of the whole experience. I think that should be changed - we had a closely set menu but enough choices to pick from from all 4 courses. The starter bread and butter was a nice surprise! A great wine selection as well. The martini was great too. We started with the Lamb Carpaccio - soooo good ! 2nd dish was the lobster bisque! Best thing I had! Followed that with the diver scallops ! Also really good ! I didn't eat dessert- but everyone said it was killer ! Our waiter and his backup Sam were really great !

NaSchelle S.

Yelp
My husband & I went to Matthews for my birthday and I enjoyed every minute of it. The ambiance was just perfect for a nice dinner. Our waiter Ryan was absolutely amazing. Very knowledgeable and he gave us top tier service. The brand ambassador Jeff was also amazing. He gave us a brief history on Chef Matthew, long they have worked together, and we really enjoyed hearing that they are close as family. Overall we had a wonderful experience and we can't wait to have dinner at Matthews again!

Angel W.

Yelp
Loved the staff and service. Everyone was polite and friendly, starting from valet through to the hostess to the server and the manager. Restaurant was extremely clean and had a warm and inviting feel.

Yelp
I was here recently, about 2 weeks ago now. But it wasn't my first time here. I've always made reservations here, I never just walked in, so my review is based on my experience with a reservation. As soon as you walk through the door, you'll be presented with some outstanding service. Very outstanding. To the point where it seems rehearsed. It's too perfect. The entire staff was like this. I went with the tasting menu, and I enjoyed everything that was brought out except for one of the dishes, but I can't remember what it was. I tried hard to get one of the servers to break character but I was unsuccessful. I like the ambiance. I was there in the early evening, so there was a lot of natural light but not to the point the light was glaring, they have working window shades. The restaurant was designed in a way to where you can see the kitchen and the staff working. But it was done cleanly and professionally. Bathroom's were clean too. You should expect a fine dining establishment, fine dining service with fine dining entrees but it comes with a price tag. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. I'd come back. Not anytime soon but I'll definitely be back.

Melissa G.

Yelp
Came for happy hour. Happy Hour menu is great! Atmosphere is wonderful - classy but chill. Food was great. Tried the cheese board, fish and chips, the waygu dumplings and soufflé for dessert. Perfect after work break! Service was excellent!

Steve C.

Yelp
Matthew's 4 star rating is based on the food, which was excellent. The presentation and plating also were impressive. The issue we had, though, was with the slow pace of the service, which is why the rating is not 5/5. It seemed like it took way too long between different courses in the tasting menu. The excuse from the restaurant was that they had a few very large parties that evening. We eventually just gave up and left - they did box up a few additional items, which we didn't eat. To their credit, they did reduce the bill and of course I tipped on the full amount.

Nancy S.

Yelp
Over priced. Nothing on menu that caught my eye even a Brie or shrimp (like bang bang) and a reasonably priced cocktail or glass or bottle of wine. A dessert to die for that makes the visit memorable like the carrot cake at J Alexander or Cheesecake. I was not impressed especially after check came.

Gina R.

Yelp
Outstanding! Is not enough to say to describe the cuisines. Every bite was exquisite. We were at the bar for happy hour & those appys are just the best and very unusual. Dinners were just heavenly. Servers Melissa & a well informed Gentleman ( not sure of the spelling of his name ) we're very attentive. If you've not been here you should! for a special occasion or just make one. Asap!

John H.

Yelp
A fantastic experience with high end cuisine while on a trip to Jacksonville. Frankly, I did not expect such excellent dishes and skilled service. The only concern on the service was they neglected to do the crumb sweep between courses. The hostess was friendly and I was taken to my table immediately. The waiter had excellent recommendations on cocktails and an accompanying full bodied red. Missing from the service was an amuse bouche which is derigure in the high end market and is indicative of the skills of the Chef de Cuisine. The food was excellent though. The soy infuse tuna tartare was great and my main course, lamb chops was excellent, though a little bit of a small proportion. The pot de crème was imaginative, with a honeycomb pastry over the crème. Accompanied by a perfect Brandy Alexander on the recommendation of the waiter. If ever in J'ville again, I will return.

Aurora B.

Yelp
This is fine dining at its best in Jacksonville. I love the upgrades that have been done to the restaurant- the new bar area is beautiful. Although the look of the restaurant has changed, the food remains phenomenal. Our server was fantastic and we trusted him to take us on a journey. My husband and I did the Valentine's Day experience and every bite was fantastic. Thank you Matthew's management and service staff! Top notch.

Joshua T.

Yelp
DO NOT order the chef's tasting menu. My wife and I got the 6 course and it was more than disappointing. I wish I took pictures of each dish. They were small, underwhelming, and not worth the ridiculous price. One of the courses was a single carrot cut up into pieces and another was a tiny piece of bacon with blue cheese and half a strawberry. It took about 20-25 minutes for each course to come out and we were there for more than 2 hours.

Rosa M.

Yelp
Matthew's Restaurant, set in the heart of historic San Marco, focus on fine dining scene in Jacksonville using locally grown ingredients.: From handmade pastas to sustainably raised meats and local seafood. At Matthew's you can expect menu to seasonally based . Service was impeccable... Mathew's offers valet parking .

Susan H.

Yelp
Was so excited to dine there for dinner Tuesday - every single item, including the Rose', was outstanding. The waitstaff was incredibly thorough & pleasant! Excellent suggestions. I can't wait to come back. I LOVE CAVIAR! And the lamb was incredible!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Matthew's adventure tasting menu is certainly an experience of a lifetime! It's 6 courses inspired by whatever the chef decides that week. My particular week was Italy. There is an option to do a wine pairing, and we chose to do so. You can also add in an additional dish from the regular menu, which we also did! The wagyu beef certainly lived up to the hype! The waiter was extremely knowledgeable of all the food origins and wine. I loved hearing his stories and the information. The service was really great, and there were several waiters who walked around only with bread or water for refills. This restaurant is towards the pricier side, but the cuisine is worth it! It was our anniversary, and they certainly made us feel well celebrated!!

Laura D.

Yelp
My new favorite place. Everything is great. Service: check Ambiance: check Food: check The prices are appropriate for what you get. In a word: delight.

MF Q.

Yelp
Amazing food, great staff Good selection. Easy parking Nice ambiance. Definitely will be back .

Yelp
We celebrated my wife's birthday by enjoying a pre-reservation drink in the comfortable and welcoming bar! It was VERY hot outside, but cool and comfortable inside! We gently joined a few others who were already sitting in the bar area having their conversations and cold beverages. While enjoying our early arrival, we finished our appetizer of pan seared cauliflower and cold drinks just as our reservation was to begin in the main dining room. Upon being seated, our waiter (Sam) took the time go over our menu options as this was our initial visit to Matthew's Restaurant. We certainly appreciated his patience by helping us to select the six-course Chef's Adventure Tasting Menu which included a wide offering of bread, shrimp, delicious escargot, an interesting and very tasty crab dish, succulent duck, a cheese tray and cream brûlée for desert. Sam and other attendants made sure our drink glasses were filled and that, along with each course, we were provide fresh utensils with which to enjoy our meal. All in all, our French cuisine experience was completely enhanced by an appropriate level of attentiveness that totally allowed us to enjoy our special birthday evening in San Marco! The evening was surprisingly topped off by our waiter. While we were paying our check, Sam presented my wife with her personalized dinner menu that had been created specifically for her! We'll both have very fond memories of her latest birthday experience and look forward to our next visit.

Bob F.

Yelp
Outstanding service, food & atmosphere. Hostess Cricket & waiter Ryan made us feel welcome. The food was excellent at every course. We'll be back. Good Show!

Barry N.

Yelp
Matthew's bar is comfy but they do require shirt-n-shoes . . . and, apparently, pants. The Bar is clean & newly renovated. The happy-hour menu is good and fair-priced. Josh is mixologist and the wine list is extensive. Ask for Jess and ya gotta meet Cricket, our San Marco cereal killer. The bartenders are chemists, but can still pour a vino. Jess rocks!

Cheyenne R.

Yelp
We were brought here by a potential employer and thus the cost of the meal was covered. The service from when we walked in was top notch. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable. The interior of the restaurant was interesting because for such a high end place you would expect a dimly lit ambiance but in fact the restaurant was very well lit with nice natural light and I really enjoyed this. I had the house old fashioned as well as the 4 spice margarita, both excellent. The homemade bread was to die for. The charcuterie board was very good. We ordered the escargot and vichyssoise. The vichyssoise was served warm, with a puff pastry filled with crème fraiche that you crack into the soup. This was delicious and the escargot was decadent. I got the duck breast which was cooked perfectly, so tasty. Would highly recommend, the price may be a bit high but if you're ok paying for good food I would come here at least once!

Kim C.

Yelp
Wow! Chef's Tasting Menu was indeed, an adventure! I may never eat any of these things again, but, I put my trust in the Chef and it was a wonderful experience. However - be prepared ... no one rushes a Chef ... 3 hours long! You make sure they know your food allergies - and leave the rest to the Chef. By the way - be prepared ... not cheap ... 2 ppl ~ $300+ Reservations a must. Valet car park is available. Dark walking to car! Full service bar. Upscale dining in downtown Jacksonville. Server, David was exceptional - polite, gracious and enthusiastic. Friday night was non-stop busy!

Clemson Tom W.

Yelp
My son, and I said at the bar. The bartender, cannot remember his name, but he was excellent. Travis maybe? Either way the guy was aces. Recommended numerous items and drinks throughout our night. We tried the escargot, which was delicious as well as the homemade pasta. 100% recommend this place. It's perfect for a date night.

Mario G.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Matthew's, definitely a spot i would recommend to others. My wife and I celebrated our 10th year anniversary and this was the best place to celebrate. First, the staff was great, friendly and very attentive to everything. Second, my wife and I were caught by surprise with the menu in which it had our 10th yr celebration and name on it, this was amazing, of course we had to take this home. Third, our waiter Bow, great guy, he loves what he does and is very knowledgeable on the menu and the wine pairing that came with our courses. Forth, loved all the courses and would highly recommend the tasting menu with the wine pairing, amazing experience. We will definitely be back again very soon, we're going for the Wagyu steak. P.S. To Matthew: I'm headed to Culinary School at the end of this year, (CIA), I would be grateful for an opportunity to work there when I return!

Terry A.

Yelp
Great attentive dining experience with great food and excellent service. We arrived early prior to another function and had the attention of the entire staff. We started with cocktails and the charcuterie board. Excellent cocktails and a great variety of meats and cheese. For my entree I ordered the beef tenderloin which came with a side of "bread pudding". It resembled your mom's stuffing at thanksgiving and it was delicious. A great accompaniment to the well-prepared beef. An awesome experience, well worth the money and I'm sure, I will be back!

Candice M.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to Matthew's 4 or 5 times and food and service is always consistently fantastic. We love that the Chef's Tasting Menu changes all the time, so we always get it to be surprised by the wonderful chef and then add in other appetizers from the regular menu, like the Wagyu on a hot rock, or oyster and cavier if a special occasion. We've never had a bad dish or poor service. Matthew's has become like a comfort restaurant for us that we can always go back to when we want a great meal and/or we are celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Highly recommend!

Amber J.

Yelp
Easily one of the top places to dine in Northeast Florida. The food is perfectly prepared with attention to every detail, and the presentation is always flawless. Chef is incredibly talented, and the team is professionally trained to ensure you have an incredible dining experience from start to finish.

Tuesday F.

Yelp
Going to start this off with Ryan and Bailey are the absolute best, and made a nice dinner 100% more enjoyable then it would have normally been. Everything was so explained to us, they were personable, friendly, and incredibly warming and welcoming. Could not have asked for better staff to be with us tonight. The food was great, we had the chefs special, so we got to sit at the counter and watch them make everything. Since it was the chefs choice, fish was brought out and I don't eat fish ( it's a moral obligation) Robert, the general manger, even came up to me and asked if I'd like something else. (Which is totally fine! And I didn't need anything but it was so appreciated and so kind. I've only been here once, but I would absolutely recommend this place, and if at all possible, ask for Ryan's section! And if you can, sit at the counter and talk to Bailey! Their kitchen dynamic is awesome, and the people are awesome too. 10/10 would go back.

Yelp
Came to Matthews based upon recommendations by a friend. It was our wedding anniversary so we wanted something nice. Jumping to the conclusion, we were extremely disappointed with the entire experience. Upon being seated, we got water and our server took our drink order. The drinks came relatively quickly but it was 35 minutes before we saw our server again. We placed our simple dinner order, only two courses, and asked for some bread/butter. A young man stopped by and offered us each a single piece of bread. Our first course arrived at the one-hour mark, salads. We asked for a bottle of wine which took 15 minutes to arrive. At the two-hour mark, we flagged down our server to complain about the wait for our entrees. Our salads had been consumed nearly an hour ago. Our meal finally arrived. Portion sizes were insultingly small. My beef tenderloin, advertised as accompanied by a potato of some type, turned out to be about 4 ounces of tenderloin on top of a single 1/4" slice of potato and two small carrots. Nearly $50. By the time we left, it had been nearly 3 hours and we were still hungry and out $400. We will never go back there or to any of their other properties.

Danielle F.

Yelp
Why did we wait so long to try????? Great bartender and delicious cocktails. The food - wow!!!! We started with the beef tartare and i compare all beef tartare to Berns in Tampa - this was the first I've had anywhere that compared. It was delicious. The mushroom Anglioto was so heavenly we ordered another plate. Hubs had the lamb and it was seasoned with middle eastern spices - really lovely and delicate and i had the short rib which was braised and pull apart delicious. Finished with the soufflé and a glass of port. Our waiter was attentive and personable. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Went here for our anniversary dinner. This place was top notch! Started before we even entered the restaurant with the valet when he congratulated my wife and I on our anniversary. Once inside the restaurant, the server was very detailed in explaining the menu. Service was above reproach. I had the Japanese Wagyu steak which insanely delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely patronize this place again.

Yelp
Do not eat here! This place is over rated and chef'd by arrogant loser. Spent a thousand dollars in the bar then went to dinning room, ordered 8 course tasting menu for the table. One person at the table was a pescatarian. The chef could not accommodate. Fuck him/her we left and went to Cowford. Had a wonderful evening

Yelp
Went for a dinner tonight and service was slow and the waiter forgot drinks I ordered. Started with frisée salad then Beef Tenderloin was small but good, the apple tart was good as well wish the crust wasn't super hard.

Yelp
Awesome dinner spot! Our waiter was fantastic! He was very impressive and was a culinary artist at its finest! He had a passion for food and wine pairings. The restaurant brings you complementary bread and butter. I started with a nice Pinot pour! We ordered the scallops , beef tenderloin and the side of mac n cheese. The portions are nice and full of flavor! They also have a menu where the chef will prepare an entire spread of multiple course for you! The atmosphere is nice and intimate. It's quiet, dimly lit, and very nice date night spot! We will be back!

Yelp
Matthew's restaurant might be the best dining experience I have ever had. The menu is carefully crafted with seasonal ingredients and executed food perfection. Every course was treated like a work of art in terms of flavor and presentation. The foie gras appetizer was one of the most decadent dishes I've ever tasted and the same can be said about the lacquered duck breast entrée. Service was top level as well, our waiter Ryan knew the ins and outs of every menu item down to where each ingredient was sourced from. If you're looking for a super high level dining experience in Jacksonville, this is the place to go

Yelp
If you're willing to hand over control to the experts, the six-course Chef's Adventure Menu is a must try. Each plate was unique, fresh and full of flavor. The wine pairing was a fantastic compliment to the food and a great opportunity to taste wines we would not have tried on our own. We added on the Japanese A5 Wagyu based on recommendation and were not disappointed. Not only an incredible presentation but unforgettable treat as well.

Yelp
My SO and I finally took the opportunity to have dinner here for our anniversary and just couldn't have been happier overall. We opted to go all out and do the Chef's Adventure Tasting Menu and added the wine pairing that goes with it. Not a thrifty choice by any means so be prepared. However, it was well worth the experience. It is a 6-course meal chosen by the chef and you also have a separate glass of wine that is chosen for each course when you add that option to the meal. While I would like to say I remember every course in detail, there were a lot of details that I didn't remember. All that wine doesn't help the memory they say . However, we were pleasantly surprised to find they did all the work to write out the menu and have everyone sign it. Who does that?! What an awesome treat! I'm posting the menu here instead of writing it all out. I will say that I truly loved every course, but that Veal cheek was just melt in your mouth fabulousness. Our server was very personable and matched our energy. We like to goof around a little even in these higher class settings and she welcomed it and answered our ridiculous questions while also being quite professional when explaining our courses and wine pairings. If you want a superb experience (not just a nice dinner) then you must try Matthew's. I'd give 6 stars, if they'd let me.
