The 38 Best Orange County Restaurants | Eater LA

"George Barker opened Mayfield in 2020 and sparked a new dining movement in San Juan Capistrano. The food is influenced by Levantine regional flavors, with hints of North Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East mixed with California. There’s a solid burger with harissa aioli at happy hour and za’atar fried chicken for dinner. For brunch, there’s avocado toast and egg sandwiches, but there are also Turkish eggs with labneh and fiery tomato shakshuka, showcasing the variety from the kitchen. The restaurant is also known for its cocktails, one of which is featured monthly and whose proceeds are given to a local cause." - Jenn Tanaka

20 Los Angeles Area Bars Supporting Joshua Tree | Eater

"Caliterranean? Medifornia? The cuisine on offer at this San Juan Capistrano restaurant and market isn’t easily summarized. Its Westward Bound cocktail, though, shows off the bar’s influences nicely, taking a Westward Whiskey-amaro-lemon base and adding orange blossom and cardamom, a flavor profile often seen in Mediterranean dishes. Pro tip: grab a seat that faces out into the pedestrian-friendly, historic downtown of San Juan Capistrano for excellent people watching." - Vox Creative

17 Remarkable Coffee Bars to Discover in Orange County | Eater LA

"Mayfield is technically a Levantine-leaning restaurant and market, but its coffee program is fine-tuned and exceptional, grander than some cafes even. Neither a server nor a bartender would dare make a coffee here without months of training first. Mayfield’s owner, George Barker, is partial to the Fancy Man cappuccino (made with bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup and cinnamon, and topped with Maldon smoked sea salt) paired with sticky toffee pudding. Or for a nightcap, the Italian Job includes espresso, house-made soda water, and Italian Amaro." - Jordan Morosco

The 21 Best Brunch Restaurants in Orange County California | Eater LA

"San Juan Capistrano’s dining resurgence began a few years ago, and Mayfield was one of the key players. Mayfield’s modern Mediterranean-inspired menu includes traditional brunch dishes as well as inventive takes like brown rice bowls with poached egg, Japanese sweet potato, greens, veggies, and crispy-skinned salmon. Other dishes like the za’atar-spiced fried chicken sandwich are both classically comforting and modern." - Jenn Tanaka

Mayfield in San Juan Capistrano delivers a truly memorable evening. The ambience is lovely, stylish and inviting, perfect for a date night or relaxed dinner. Every staff member carried their own charm and character, making the service feel warm and personal. The menu offers great variety, with thoughtful dishes meant to be shared. The dip & bread starter was so good I couldn’t stop dipping! And the steak? Juicy, delicious, cooked just right. Overall, a gem well worth visiting.

Google
The perfect spot in San Juan Capistrano to have brunch on a Sunday! We ordered a lot of the dips with veggies had a delicious salad and avocado toast. Everything was excellent. They also have really unique crafted cocktails & excellent coffee. It’s beautifully appointed with the most gorgeous tiles & marble. Along with ton of different wines to choose from to take home. I love the bar and the way everything is set up, such a vibe. I highly recommend it!

I’ve been here probably 10 or 15 times, and I cannot overstate how good it is. The high quality of the ingredients, the preparation, the unique flavors which are unlike any of their competition, the textures… i’ve had several dishes here (for example the snap peas, the pork chop, the Moroccan carrots) which in my opinion are Michelin level. Cocktails are also interesting and delicious. And if that wasn’t enough, the place is spacious, cool, and the staff are friendly without being too formal. Recommended.

My wife and I were looking for the perfect place to host our welcome party the night before our wedding, with some criteria in mind. It had to be spacious & aesthetic, have memorable food & cocktails, and have world-class service. It’s safe to say Mayfield checked off all these boxes with flying colors. The amount of people that came up to us to let us know how cool the restaurant was, how excellent the apps and cocktails were, and how professional the service was is unparalleled! Special shoutout to George, the owner of Mayfield, who went out of his way (and with a constant smile on his face) to make sure our requests were covered across all bases. We were already huge fans of everything this place has to offer from a bar/restaurant standpoint, and to have them over-deliver for our welcome party has made us into customers for life. We already cannot wait to come back. Support these guys, because they’re EVERYTHING a dining out experience is supposed to be!

First of all I would like to appreciate their amicable service. Everyone’s here is showing more care towards customer satisfaction and they are very attentive. The food itself was super good and fresh. Some of the best vegetarian food I have tasted in Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered a ton of food and we didn’t realize the portion size. Beware of the portion size Y’all. I think the portion in each dish is good enough for two people. Out of all My fav was the focaccia bread and the 5 dips and the sweet potato fries. Overall I was very satisfied with everything and will definitely visit this location again. Disclaimer - it gets pretty busy so I would advice you to plan wait times ahead

I ate here last Sunday and explicitly asked the server which dips in the rip n dip had any kind of nuts and sesame seeds as my sister and her boyfriend are allergic. She told us that three has nuts and one had sesame seeds. We decided to order it and they would just eat the ones without them. When the order came, we asked the person who delivered it to tell us which had nuts and sesame seeds. She pointed out the three with nuts and one with sesame seeds. During the entree, we realized she was wrong about at least one of them when that same sauce came as one of the nut sauces with another order but this was after we had finished eating the dip. We asked the server to clarify which had nuts and sesame seeds and realized that they had told us wrong and my sister and boyfriend had eaten ones they weren’t supposed to. We told them about this wrong information and they were not apologetic at all. My sister and her boyfriend were sick the rest of the day and it ruined our trip. Very disappointed with the service. Allergies can be life threatening ! BE VERY CAREFUL!

We had been driving by and always said next time. Well, this time we went, and it was well worth it. We sat at the bar and had craft cocktails made to perfection. had a few small plates that were just amazing. The kabob was just so good that we reordered it! Staff was really helpful and they adjusted the menu where they could for my food allergies.

Yelp
Mayfield as a must eat at restaurant in San Juan Capistrano, it is phenomenal. I love coming here for dinner because the vibe is so much more interesting than having breakfast or lunch here. Father's Day dinner 2024 was like any other Sunday with excellent food and service. The eggplant is delicious and so is the salmon crudo! I am giving Mayfield a five star for dinner and a four-star for lunch. Our waiter was so cute and sweet! The octopus was interesting and the hummus underneath was a pleasant surprise! I will be back soon but not tomorrow because they are closed on Monday.

Yelp
Very thankful to get here early on a weekend, the design of the place makes it very, very quickly. The Golden Latte was more foam than drink.. and no coffee. The Curious George however was uniquely delightful & very worth a try. For appetizers we had the corn ribs, which was very well seasoned & accompanied by a lightly savory aioli sauce. This I want to say is a must try. Our brunch meals were the Shakshuka & Bacon, Gruyère Cheese & Egg Sandwich. The sandwich was accompanied by potato's and I would get a plate that alone.. so much flavor, very butter forward but not in a heavy way, as the potato's still held a slight crunch. The Shakshuka was so packed with flavor it makes you overlook for a moment that it is not consisting of very much food. The menu mentions Kale but it is unfortunately not very heavy on this. It's more of an afterthought.. had it been double or even 1/2 more added would have greatly made it more of a mention. Either way, meal over all is a flavor delight and worth the cost. The service is friendly and prompt. I recommend going early though, it seemed like it could possibly be a different story only an hour later.

Yelp
Amazing dinner! We came in on a Wednesday night and made a reservation, and we had such a great time at this adorable restaurant! The place itself has phenomenal ambiance, and I love how it gives an indoor/outdoor feel. We ordered multiple things to share. We ordered a few of the dips with the vegetables and bread, which was amazing! Throughout the entire dinner we kept talking about the focaccia, it was that good! We also ordered the salmon carpaccio which was not what I expected, and phenomenal! Maybe my favorite dish we ordered. We also got the sweet potatoes, and the branzino. The plates came out one by one, really adding to the dining experience. For dessert, we got the mango sorbet which had smashed pistachios in it. I never would have put the two together but it worked so well! Service was great, and our waitress really did a great job of consistently filling our waters as they got low and taking plates. Definitely a great dinner and I'm excited to come back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Great brunch spot in San Juan Capistrano. The menu skews Middle Eastern/Israeli cuisine and I enjoyed my falafel and hummus along with a spritz. It's a little pricey for what you get in my opinion but on par with everything else in this specific neighborhood.

Yelp
We just came back from another exquisite experience at Mayfield. We visited the restaurant for Mother's Day Brunch, and it was FANTASTIC. For 50 dollars per person we got to have a drink each, two dips, two entrees and a dessert. It was such a great deal! I opted for the cucumber elderflower spritz to start and it was sensational. My mom had the complimentary coffee and the brew was wonderful. For appetizers we had the baba ghanoush and muhammra dips and for our entrees we had the shakshuka and egg's benedict with merguez sausage. The flavor profiles were splendid and the lamb pattie sausage was such a unique spin on an eggs benedict. The banana bread was also an amazing treat. Our server Kaitlin was wonderful. She was so sweet and attentive. Wyatt then filled in for a bit and he was just as delightful and helpful. They both elevated our experience. After our meal, we checked out the bottle shop and I was able to buy a bottle of the Groundwork's counoise with the help of Mayfield's owner, George! It's an amazing chilled red that they also serve by the glass. George was incredibly kind and it was just great getting to learn more about the spices and flavors that he has come to love with cooking. Mayfield is such a treat to the Orange County area. The location is beautiful and open concept, giving a modern and light feel to the SJC area. Thank you, Mayfield!

Yelp
Great little lunch spot. You have to get the Corn ribs (skip it if on a date since you will get spicy fingers that are best licked to clean). The middle eastern spices that permeate all the dishes are an enjoyable shift from standard California American or Mediterranean inspired menus. The Chicken sandwich was excellent and I substituted the smashed potatoes from brunch menu and I highly recommend it. The lamb/beef pita was a great portion size and the fries were fun with the spices. The service was great. Put this on your try list if around town.

Yelp
While waiting for our train back home my sisters and I stopped here for drinks. Their cocktails were amazing. We enjoyed every sip. Great selection on wine and specialty cocktails. The food looked good too. Planning to come back to try more next time I'm in the area. Great ambiance and customer service.

Yelp
Oh Mayfield. You never disappoint! Our most recent trip here was for brunch (by the way, lunch and dinner are phenomenal, too!). We arrived around noon on Sunday and were promptly seated in their upstairs patio. They have heaters, blankets, and adequate coverage - making the patio quite pleasant on an otherwise dreary day. Let's start with the drinks! We ordered the Turkish Delight and a Chai Latte with Macadamia Nut Milk. The Turkish Delight was a well balanced, pink, floral, gin-based cocktail. It was so delightful that we each ordered it twice! The chai latte was a little lack luster - if you want a phenomenal chai, go to Hidden House nearby. The brunch blew our socks off. The star? Rise n' Shine! The open face sandwich was topped with whipped cheese, prosciutto, and two sunny side up eggs... all topped with a lightly spicy chili oil. I could have eaten 10 of these! I highly recommend it. Our server was also so kind - he was friendly, made sure we always had water, and was open to talking us through menu recommendations. Just go to Mayfield.

Yelp
Had another lovely dinner. Mayfield is definitely one of my favorite OC restaurants. The food does not disappoint. Shared the rip & dip, a couple of small plates, a medium plate and a large plate, and there was no room for dessert (unfortunately, the figgy pudding is so good). I do wish they would not charge so much for extra bread... but at least the bread is darned tasty.

Yelp
First time visiting here and was excited to try so many unique dishes! We started with the dip and bread as an appetizer. All 5 dips tasted great, my favorite being the spinach whipped feta. We also ordered the Tarragon chicken which was just okay. The chicken was super hard to cut apart and the flavoring was just alright. For dessert, we ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was a date cake. This was good but the butterscotch sauce was a bit too much, could go lighter on this. I was most impressed by the cocktail, Matchacha which I would definitely order again!

Yelp
Fantastic food and ambience. Came here around 2 for weekend brunch. I was looking for something light so I ordered the Turkish eggs and my friend got falafel. We shared the eggplant dip as well. My eggs were amazing! So flavorful and perfect with the sourdough. I tried my friend's falafel and they were perfect. The dips they go with were also so tasty. And the eggplant dip with the pomegranate seeds was so good. The prices were also extremely reasonable. I would 100% return!

Yelp
Right in the heart of downtown San Juan Capistrano by the train depot. Such a cool place. I've been several times for dinner and have never had a bad dish. Some are better than others, but nothing bad. Great cocktails. Great service. Nice ambience (unless it's warm and you're upstairs listening to the very loud dive bar band next door). The servers are great and make awesome recommendations. I've recommended Mayfield to a lot of people and everyone loves it! I only wish they'd accept reservations during the at because I really want to try brunch.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! So glad I used my stalking abilities to find the chef from MhZh's new restaurant. Although, I do miss his old hummus. The new hummus here is good but the hummus from MhZh was unbelievable.

Yelp
I hate to judge a place based on a Mothers Day meal given it's so busy...but we didn't have a great experience. Ambiance: It was beautifully decorated but incredibly loud. The cafe bar had beans grinding loudly and due to the design, there wasn't anything absorbing the noise. Servers were overall nice. Food: Taste wise it was 4.5/5. It took an hour for our food to come out though. And given the casual style of the dishes, I was surprised it required that much time. Our server never checked in to let us know the food was taking longer than expected. The table next to us had avocado toast for their kids and it was the saddest slices of avocado on a piece of bread I'd ever seen in a restaurant. Dessert: I think this was what led to a very frustrating experience. We paid the set fee of $60pp for a drink, bread and dip, an entree, and a dessert. But they gave us 2 pieces of banana bread (as a dessert) to share between three people. I asked the server where the third dessert was given we paid $60pp and she said she would check and never came back. Overall, I know it could be unfair to review a place on one of the busiest days but I wouldn't return. We left feeling like $200 was way too much to spend on a brunch like this.

Yelp
Cool Mediterranean fusion spot right in the heart of downtown San Juan Capistrano. Everything is served tapas style and meant to be shared. For a group of 5, we ordered two dips, six dishes, and a dessert to share. Everything was good but my favorites were the lamb kofta, octopus, and fried eggplant. The toffee dessert is incredible.

Yelp
My new favorite place!! SO good. The service has been great each time ive gone & the ambience is very open. I can see it being a great location especially when it gets warmer. The cocktails & wine were also delicious. My favorite part was the food! I highly recommend trying the 5 dips w/ their homemade bread, as well as the lamb meatballs & the cabbage dish. I'd love to try more of the menu as everything looked great on everyone's table.

Yelp
Mayfield is the cutest place to have brunch! All of the food that I have tried is great, and the service is really good. The restaurant is designed beautifully and has a great aesthetic. My favorite item there is the ZFC! The chicken is fried and so flavorful and moist. I highly recommend Mayfield and it is located in Downtown SJC, which was recently updated!

Yelp
This restaurant is the cutest!!!! I am absolutely obsessed with the ambiance/decor. We stopped by for some small bites while waiting for the train to go back home (it is right by the Metrolink station- so convenient). We ordered: Baba Ganoush dip- simple yet delicious, and that sourdough bread is BOMB Focaccia Orange Blossom & Mint Iced Tea- wow one of the best iced teas I've ever had! All the staff we encountered were so nice and inviting. Will have to come by next time to try more of their food! I also love their little market set up on the side where they display their wine, merch, chocolate, etc.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious! We stopped by for a quick drink because the atmosphere seemed cute. The interior is nice and airy, with nice calming decor. Service was lovely and the drinks were top notch. We got the Birds of Paradise and the Mr. Ripley, both refreshing and quite boozy. The focaccia bread was probably the best we've ever had, we will be back!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Food was good but not lick the bowl good. Loved the Gf DF notes on the menu Great staff Just wayyyyy too pricey. 4 glasses of wine, 2 small plates, a medium, and 2 large plates $245. It just didn't seem like an almost $300 meal. Glasses of wine extremely pricey. We honestly probably wont go back.

Christian M.

Yelp
Great tasting food and drinks! Service is outstanding. Highly recommend. Everything tasted flavorful and great spices.

Yelp
What a cute indoor/outdoor vibe! I really enjoyed trying this place. It has a great fresh air flow. It's located in downtown which is so cute. You can walk to many other stores and shops, and parking was not far or difficult (there is street and garage parking). The food was delicious! The drinks were very good too. I would definitely go back. The owner was onsite and was so nice and professional. We ordered a grain bowl and the fried chicken sandwich and shared both items. The ingredients and way of putting it together is quite unique. It's a Middle Eastern fusion take on food. Very unique and delectable!

Yelp
5 stars because the OC lacks great restaurants! This place is tapas style with a Mediterranean/ Lebanese focus. All the dishes we had were delicious but what stood out to me were the fatoush salad, octopus, branzino and the toffee dessert. Service was great and the ambiance was charming.

Safa A.

Yelp
We went for brunch The food was delicious, appetizers were extra small though, but main dish is good size. cute location .. nice place to walk around and friendly service
google avatar

Yelp
The beautiful ambience and seating arrangement is truly stunning. Good service and the free popcorn is seasoned with all sorts of spices that made it a treat. The rip and dip is a must order with the date labneh and spinach dip being the two that I would get again. The rest of the menu did not appeal to me. The flavors, although interesting, were too clashing in the ceviche and octopus dish that I couldn't eat them. I also felt like the kofta meatballs were just ok. Definitely will be back again but feel like I ordered the wrong things minus the dips.
google avatar

Yelp
I have had two great meals there now. Brunch where we sat on the patio and I had a really great French Toast. Tonight we had dinner family style with the most delicious Focaccia and Spinach Whipped Feta, Smashed Yukon Potatoes with some crazy good Brown Butter, Black Salt goodness and Grilled Prawns with Curry Aioli. Our server MaryKate was sweet and attentive to us, and knew all about the food she was serving. Our food was served quickly and hot... oh and the Sticky Toffee Pudding was perfect! A great place to try new things!
google avatar

Jade M.

Yelp
Mayfield was delicious! Staff was friendly and the vibes were so comfy and cute! I love the pastels. We had their sweet potato and glazed pork. Both were a blast of flavors! I did order the Hibiskiss cocktail and it was not my favorite, the flavors were pretty misleading than how it's written on the menu. But the food really set the bar high! I especially love the complimentary seasoned popcorn when we were seated. I would go here again, but maybe just for the food!

Yelp
Connor was our amazing bartender that served us the best espresso martinis! Their espresso martinis have freshly made espresso which is hard to find. Thank you, Connor! We will be back for 16 more :)

Yelp
Definitely worth checking out Mayfield, whether you happen to be in the area or you're visiting from other parts of SoCal, but the food, drinks, ambience, and service were all excellent! Highlights -- in order by favorite ranking - Corn Ribs: wow. these were simple yet so tasty! It's sweet, tangy, juicy, has a spicy kick, and with the creamy aioli sauce, it was just perfection. - Muhammara: second favorite dish! you can really taste the roasted pepper. also I can confirm it tastes great with everything because I added it not only the bread, but the fries, the eggs, and yes, even the corn. - Turkish Eggs: a definitely interesting dish! Perfectly poached eggs, and the herby labneh had a cooling, creamy taste (almost like a healthy ranch?). - ZFC: pretty solid chicken sandwich that tastes lighter because of the slaw and sauce. It was fried and seasoned well, but I did wish it was a bigger piece of chicken. Fries were well seasoned too. - Burrata Salad: this was just okay, nothing beyond what you would expect but still decently tasty. It unfortunately pales in comparison to everything else we got (which isn't necessarily a bad thing!) The drinks weren't very strong, but they were definitely tasty. If you're a big matcha lover like me, you gotta try the Matchacha! It was so refreshingly good. Wayfarer was just ok - sad that we couldn't really taste the mezcal. Service was prompt and friendly, and the space itself was so atheistically pleasing with the high ceilings, big windows, and beautiful interior decor. Parking is also easy, with a parking structure just two minutes away. May have to come back next time for dinner!

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant for lunch as we didn't want to wait in a long line for another one. With no line, we sat at the bar for brunch. The menu wasn't too big which meant that they specialize in making their food really well. I recommend the french toast as I loved the jam on top. I ordered the grain bowl with salmon. The rice was super flavorful and paired well with the salmon and the salad on top. I wish my egg was soft boiled instead but it was still good. Service was quick and food was good.

Yelp
Aesthetics on point, but the food was even BETTER! I stumbled into this place, solo eater, as I was in the area for volunteer work and was recommended to go by a colleague. The place was so cute and the hostess helped me right away as soon as I walked up. I said table for one, and was given 2 choices where to sit (which I appreciated). I sat by the window so I could get a view of the street and watch the passersby. I was greeted by my server, Jessie, who was absolutely fantastic. NOTE: To my surprise, I read on their menu that their dishes are meant to be shared by 2 or more people. I was concerned for a moment and asked Jessie for her suggestion/advice on what to order, as it was just me. She guided me through the menu with care and consideration. I appreciated her taking the time and being so sweet! Quality customer service, 5/5. Based on her recs, I ordered: Crudo (striped bass sashimi, coconut milk aguachile, kiwi, jicama, cilantro oil) @ $22, the Beef Kabob Skewer @ $7 per skewer, and the hummus & date labneh @ $4.50 per dip and 2 pieces of focaccia @ $2 per piece. I also indulged in their signature cocktail, the Limelight (Kaffir Lime Leaf Infused Vodka, cucumber, lime, ginger beer) @ $15. The cocktail was refreshing, but I'm biased since I love ginger beer and lime. The star of the meal was most definitely the crudo with an aguachile sauce. Not spicy like typical aguachile, but there was a depth in flavor and creaminess to the sauce due to the coconut milk. The sauce was pleasantly light and paired with the bass well, only suggestion was that it could have benefitted from some citrus. The hummus was also a favorite - don't skip! If you are expecting traditional, stronger Middle Eastern flavors, expect to be surprised as it take "modern Mediterranean" seriously and is experimental in the best ways. Would definitely come again with a few friends to try more dishes.

Yelp
Came here for brunch after my wedding day and it was such a special time with my husband :')! We parked easily in the parking garage across the street and walked right over. Immediate walking in, I felt such a lively atmosphere with great music and stupor friendly staff. We shared the Shakshuka which was my first time having it and it was the perfect comfort food after recovering from a night of partying. The eggs were cooked with a spicy roasty red sauce made fresh with some kale and feta. Place that lovely sauce on some sour dough and you've got the best savory brunch entree! We also shared a side of corn ribs a crunchy twist on what tastes like elote but grilled like a corn on the cob. This was by far my favorite and I dream about this corn. We ordered some refreshing cocktails to pair and just enjoyed as the bartenders made cocktails in front of us. If you're in south OC and want to grab some brunch mayfield is the place for you!!!

Yelp
we came across this cute spot while walking around during our staycation. we decided last minute to make a reservation on sunday night and got seated right on time. i didn't look at any reviews, which is very unlike me, so i didn't really know what i expect. the interior so cute and perf for a lil date night. the server was nice and seemed knowledgeable about the menu. it's a family style menu with a lot to choose from. baba ganoush 5/5 - the focaccia was soft and pillow on the inside and crispy on outside. u could taste the smokiness from the dip and it was so creamy. we were starting off strong! cauliflower shawarma 5/5 - we love roasted cauliflower so if that's ur thing, i highly recommend this. my carnivore bf loved this and scarfed it down. it was so soft and juicy. the tahini!!!! *chef's kiss* slow braised lamb shank 5/5 - i wish they told us that it would take a little longer for it to come out because after our first two dishes, we sat for about 20 mins for the lamb to come out. we almost thought that they forgot our order, but it was worth the wait. the lamb was so soft and fell right off the bone. there was no gamey smell (although i do enjoy it) and it was perfectly seasoned. the rest of all the sauces paired so well with it too. we were SO full after the meal that i regretted wearing a tight dress to dinner haha. as someone who loves mediterranean food, i would say that this spot is worth every penny and definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I stop by here on Sunday for Presidents' Day weekend as I was doing a staycation in the area. This is my first time here and I was really excited because the menu looked really interesting and delicious and I had a really great reviews on yelp. When I arrived, unfortunately the host was nowhere to be found and actually took 10 minutes before I saw the host and the two groups in front of me so they were waiting 15 minutes just to put their name down. So that was not a good first impression I don't know if it's because somebody called in sick or they were little staff or if it's always like this, but on a Sunday I would expect them to be staffed higher but again I don't know maybe something happened. Since I was by myself, I got a seat in the bar area which was lovely and it was nice. I ordered the crispy eggplant toast, because everything else had either meat or dairy which I cannot have but this one looked really good and even though I don't like eggplant, it was amazing! The flavors were perfect. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was very Mediterranean, but there was like twist to it, and it seemed that most of the people around me were enjoying their food, and I probably will come back here again. The ambience is really cute and I love the decor inside and very open and quite lovely. But I would say the staff there seem very overwhelmed and I don't know if they were understaffed for that day, but everyone was scrambling. But overall, it has a great selection of food, and very different and priced reasonably for the area.

Yelp
Made a day trip down to SJC and had to stop by Mayfield as our first stop. Such a cute restaurant with a bright, open layout. Food and service was really good. Really enjoyed our lunch even though the weather was a bit dreary that day. My grain bowl was so fresh and delicious, I would absolutely order it again. The corn ribs was something I've never had before and was excited to try. This is a must have when you come here. Overall, it was a lovely Saturday lunch, staff was attentive, restaurant was small but spacious, would definitely stop by again when we're back in the area.

Yelp
This was a beautiful place. Loved it for a GNO (girls night out)! Servers were not very warm and cut right to it. Place is busy so sat on the deck on top. Hostess should work on her wording as we almost turned this place away because were told on a hot day, "we only have seating on the porch upstairs and there are no trees". When we sat, it was under a gazebo and very lovely. Food was great, menu was unique, and prices were decent. Glad we stayed!

Yelp
Went here for lunch right before happy hour. Staff were friendly and attentive. It's very cute and colorful set up that fills warm and inviting. They were ready to answer any questions with menu. Various plant based options both vegan and vegetarian. Staff asked if I have any dietary restrictions- I took as they were willing to make accommodations if needed. The Sabich Sando was delectable and just what I needed for a day of replenishment. That affogato was delicious. My only feedback is provide a a smaller spoon for this. Will be back again!

Yelp
I've come here 7 times over the past several months. I know that implies I love this place, and I actually do love this place. My vegan friends and I can come and share plates, mocktails, and their incredible focaccia. I love bread, I LOVE BREAD! This place has the best bread and dips, which is the perfect way to start dinner. The eggplant, skewers, burrata, cauliflower all delish. Enjoy the place, it's not too fancy, it's just right.

Yelp
ive been here a few times now for brunch, most recently for my birthday and its always an amazing experience!! its such a cute little cozy space and the food is so great! i cant speak on their dinner menu, but the daytime dishes are so good and interesting and everything ive had is delicious, though i am partial to the turkish eggs. theyre perfectly cooked every time and the labneh is so herby, light, and refreshing. my only complaint is they kind of skimp on the bread, and they charge $2 for extra, but to me its worth it! the last time i was there, i also ordered a rose cardamom latte and i loved it!! all the flavors were there but not too overpowering, the coffee was smooth, and it wasnt overly sweet. not to mention it was very pretty! as for the service, everyone whos waited on me so far has been delightful. if you need recommendations, theyre always glad to help. water was always full, plenty of check ins, and they seem to be happy working there! overall, this is one of my favorite places for breakfast, and its walking distance to the antique mall which is a HUGE plus for me!!!

Yelp
Ixl was our server and very helpful. Food was good but prices were higher than expected. You start with dips Ike feta and spinach j or humus. Very small portion and you have to pay for the bread to use to get the sip. They were tasty but expensive for what they gave us. The fries feta cheese was to die for with tomato gastric. The best. The friend chicken with two sauces was very tasty. The corn niblets we're exceptional but very spicy. The desert was lovely. Best part of the meal was a little dish with three little dots and a side of water to pour over it. They gave you wash ups for after dinner.

Yelp
Limelight Popular Opinion

Yelp
Had to make another review because this place never disappoints. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE CABBAGE!!!! I could eat it everyday. Service is always good. I finally got a seat at the open window today and enjoyed people watching. This place is gold.

Yelp
Mayfield is a beautiful, uplifting space, with great food and service. The offerings are unique and have a middle eastern vibe. We had a party of six, with out of town friends who loved it. The owner, George, was super warm and friendly. He told us of his vision in opening Mayfield, which made us enjoy it all the more! We all ordered the Prix Fixe sampling menu and it was diverse with plenty of food. I highly recommend this gem!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! First time I visited, went casually for a drinks with friends and we loved the ambiance. The cozy elegant feel it's the best part, so inviting. Cocktails were amazingly crafted! I finally went for dinner last night and it was beyond expected. We started with two seasonal items on the menu and they were incredible. Salmon Crudo has the best sauce, so balanced that it made every bite amazing. Octopus Masabacha was cooked to perfection, hummus and chickpeas gave it the perfect warm feeling. For entre we got the Branzino (again cooked to perfection and again perfectly balance sauce) We got the steak as well and it was great. You must visit! I know I'll be back again and again. Also FYI ask about the wine club!

Yelp
My wife & I had the most amazing lunch Sunday at @mayfield.oc in #SanJuanCapistrano. Our waitress was Katelyn who was fantastic & made excellent recommendations. My wife had the #Burrata salad with #peaches. I had the #frenchtoast with #strawberries & a strawberry beet #coulis. We then shared a side of the Smashed Yukon Potatoes & washed it all down with some #espresso #martinis. We highly recommend you check them out. Ask for Katelyn. Super #yum! #southorangecounty #foodie #orangecounty #foodies #espressomartini

Yelp
Holy YUM! Omg my husband and I are suckers for REALLY good food and this place did not disappoint. I'm sure there are reviews about the portions being small- they are, but the punch and quality of food makes up for it. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. The ambiance is super cool. Very nice servers and hosts. Just a really good vibe overall. Can't wait to come back!

Just ate there last week for the 1st time. Super fantastic restaurant with a great vibe ! Delicious food and wonderful presentation! The staff could not have been any nicer. I would eat there 2-3 a week if it was closer. Really good coffee too.
