My fiancé and I came out Saturday night to celebrate our engagement. He had made a reservation for the first of November originally, as he planned to propose on Halloween, but the date changed and Meesh Meesh was happy to change the date of our reservation when an opening came up!
We were seated as soon as we arrived for our reservation and our server, Colton, came by and gave a rundown of the place for us.
He was super sweet and very informative. His overall vibe and attitude really made our night; as a server myself, I understand that having a positive attitude can really make or break the experience of a table. He was efficient and fast but also personable.
We ordered a couple things to share. We split the cauliflower, the za'tar fries, and the salmon. I also ordered their apricot margarita. It was super refreshing.
The cauliflower was very tasty! It came with a garlic dip and an apricot chutney/curry sauce that was very nice. Mildly sweet and well spiced.
The za'tar fries were nice. Very savory, herby, and a perfect match to the toum that came with it. I will admit, they were a tad salty towards the end of the bowl, even for me, a self-proclaimed salt lover.
Between our appetizers and entree, they brought out our salatim. My fiancé liked the pumpkin spread, but he LOVED the pita. It was soft, fluffy, and very pleasing to eat. I tried a little bit of everything with it from our platter. The bean salad was very yummy and their hummus was nice and smooth.
The salmon was a wonderful choice for us to split. It was perfectly cooked. I really liked the tomato stew and chickpeas that came with it and dipped my remaining pita in it throughout the meal.
It was a perfect amount of food for us. We were pretty full but still decided to get a dessert; it was a special occasion, after all!
We got the chocolate babka with cream cheese frosting after asking our server to pick between two items. To our surprise, our server brought us each out a glass of wine to celebrate our engagement. Colton confirmed with my fiancé, who does not drink alcohol, that he didn't drink, and gave him a n/a wine so he could still be included.
They gave us a candle to blow out and congratulated us, and left us to eat possibly the best dessert we've ever had at a restaurant. It was sweet, salty, and warm. A perfect size for the two of us to split after such a filling meal.
Upon receiving the check, we were surprised to see that our dessert had been comped off. Considering we had been given wine for free, we totally expected to still pay for our babka. It was very thoughtful of Colton and the restaurant!
The only small gripe I have is that after we paid, someone bussed our dessert plate while I was still picking at it. There was like a bite left and I had my fork set down, so I can see how it may have looked like we were finished, so no hard feelings!
This was one of the best dining experiences my fiancé and I have ever had. We walked out blown away by the food and the atmosphere and talked about it the whole ride home. We're very thankful for the staff of Meesh Meesh and our server, Colton, for giving us such a wonderful and memorable engagement dinner.
