DC's New Restaurant Openings - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Mélange and Doro Soul Food now have a new home inside Mélange Foods, Inc., a food hall in Shaw from chef Elias Taddesse. If you've been to those spots you know to expect burgers, Ethiopian-inspired fried chicken, and plenty of berbere. Moya, an upcoming spot serving tacos with Ethiopian flavors, will be opening in the space soon." - omnia saed

The Best New Restaurants in D.C., July 2025 | Eater DC

"Top Ethiopian chef Elias Taddesse’s beefy burger shop, Mélange DC, and fried chicken joint, Doro Soul Food, are back and better than ever at his new culinary incubator at the foot of Shaw’s Atlantic Plumbing building. Taddesse’s Mélange Foods, Inc. opened in mid-May with both concepts and will add a third Ethiopian taco spot called Moya soon. The space that formerly housed Roy Boys features a roll-up garage bar situation prime for people-watching." - Eater Staff

HANDS DOWN the best fried chicken AND best burger in the city! Their spicy chicken is super hot and so moist and the burgers are better than anything I've ever experienced and they're grinding their own local Black Angus beef daily in-house! The berbere spiced fries are also amazingly spicy and have a ton of dipping sauces to choose from. Grab a drink at the outdoor side of the bar when the doors are up and order from the coolest bartenders around (shout out to Niki!)

Been here a few times already and it’s definitely gonna stay in the rotation! Food is delicious, cocktails are tasty and strong and the vibes are great.

I know it’s new. I used to go to the Melange down in MVT but somehow this reboot is even better. The addition of the Doro fried chicken is perfect. Now for the food low-key best fries in DC. The Berbere fried chicken tenders blew my mind. Perfectly fried, but also so juicy. go here now before there’s a line out the door and you can’t get in 🤫 I’m usually not a fan of having to order from toast and QR codes call me old school but the wait staff was very attentive. They made sure all of our questions and orders came out perfectly…hey owners 👋🏼If possible ditch toast it reminds everybody of the pandemic…9.5 otherwise 10/10

The chicken tenders here are SO good, and the berbere sauce isn’t too spicy. Mac and cheese was also delicious. The indoor-outdoor bar is a great use of the space, and the bartender/server was so nice and attentive. Excited to try their Ethiopian fusion tacos!
