Craft cocktails, tiki drinks, and tater tots in cozy digs

"“Before Uncut Gems, there was Punch-Drunk Love, the excellent Paul Thomas Anderson movie that showed what Adam Sandler was capable of when he decided to, you know, act. It’s only 95 minutes long, but filled with relentless, slowly ratcheting tension (plus romance and the occasional physical altercation). So to-go cocktails from Melrose Umbrella Co. are the ideal accompaniment. My favorites are their traditional mai tai, or the Ring Of Fire - a perfect balance of mezcal, aged cachaca, Aperol, lime, habañero, and ginger. Like Sandler’s character, these tiki-style drinks are sweet, boozy, and likely to knock me out.” - BK" - brant cox, kat hong, brett keating, james montgomery
"One of the best places in town for cocktails, Melrose Umbrella Co. has done a great job making innovative (and excellent) drinks to-go. Their cocktails lean heavily towards tiki territory, making them ideal for drinking beachside (or at least next to your friend’s apartment pool). Our favorite is the Ring Of Fire, a mezcal-based drink with Aperol, fresh lime, pineapple, ginger, and habañero. Their mai tai is also great, and guaranteed to put you to sleep." - brett keating
"Located on Melrose (surprise), this relaxed cocktail bar has walls lined with umbrellas and antique trinkets. The ambiance here is usually lively, so it’s a solid option for a group hangout. Non-Alcoholic Options: These mocktails are some of the most creative we’ve seen. Five are made with zero-proof alcohol, and two others without any booze alternatives (they’re lemonades). They also have two canned N/A beers, a canned cocktail, and a bottle of rosé." - cathy park
"Melrose Umbrella Co. was once a crowded, sticky-floored bar where waving down a bartender took a half hour. These days, it’s mellowed out and is an ideal stop for some yuletide beverages. The vaguely pre-industrial space (Is it a medieval church? A wand shop? Everybody sees something different) is decked out in Christmas trees, wreaths, and a chalkboard menu on the wall with cold-weather specials. Think boozy eggnog, mulled wine, and gin cocktails made with vanilla and cinnamon." - sylvio martins, brant cox
"It only makes sense to enjoy a cocktail in a historic bar built during the end of Prohibition, which is exactly what you can do at Melrose Umbrella Co. Cozy and relaxed in a charming apothecary-like space, the West Hollywood watering hole pays homage to the bygone era with decorative vintage umbrellas (which were used to symbolize that more “wet” days were ahead).. Frankly, there’s no better way to tap into this period than popping into Melrose Umbrella Co. for a spirit-forward cocktail, like the Grand Old Man, the bar’s spin on an Old Fashioned made with Jameson Black Barrel." - Mackenzie Filson
