Mel's Drive-In Hollywood

Lovely diner with juke box were you can select a song for 25c. We have visited several times this week for burrito, toast, waffle, burger and sandwich, vanilla shake, pop, tea and coffee. We have enjoyed all of our food and drinks. Some staff are more attentive than others, refilling drinks and very smiley. On occasion I didn't get the tea bag for my tea just hot water , I had to ask for it and several times our drinks were not refilled. Food tastes good but a little expensive but then were are in Hollywood therefore we found the prices average for the area. Would recommend.

Great Old Fashioned place to eat with new aged Arnold Schwarzenegger power shake, only comes in chocolate flavor but it was good. Waitress was Kimberly or such, she was 10 of 10 and she is great with service toward the kid and made them feel important aswell, thank you!. Food was also all correct as ordered. Also good location.

Great fries and a fine shake. I love the way they give you the metal shake cup as well as the pretty glass with cream. Beautiful spot with friendly and jolly staff. Moral seems good here . Id love to try more of the menu. Tonight was just a night cap before heading home after a film .

Usually restaurants like this are high atmosphere, low food quality. This one has both to spare! We loved our breakfast so much the first morning, we changed our plans for the following day to eat here again. The steak and eggs are the best I've had ANYWHERE, including much "nicer" restaurants. Mimosa was on point! Take quarters or they will make change so you can choose your own music for the entire meal at your table.

Mel's Drive-In is not a drive-in. It apparently was at one time, but it is now definitely in the diner category. Maybe they hope to increase business by invoking their past status as a drive-in, but it's not clear that it makes any difference in attracting customers. I for one had never heard of Mel's Drive-In before my first visit to Hollywood, and I don't believe they would lose any business if they were to rename the place "Mel's Diner" or "Mel's of Hollywood". It may seem petty, but I have a policy of not rating any place a 5 if their name is misleading. If I was ever going to make an exception it would be for this place, as their food, service, and atmosphere are all high-quality. I will qualify that by saying both times I have eaten here, both myself and everyone in my party ordered breakfast entrees, which are served all day. Everyone was very satisfied with them. I expect the lunch/dinner entrees are also outstanding but can't say from personal experience. Prices here are on the high side, but portions are generous. I will go so far as to say I would rate it 4.4 if I could, or even 89 out of 100. If they do change their name to something more descriptive of their current status I would upgrade the rating to 5. I do recommend going if you are in the area.

A classic diner / touristy experience. The milk shake was great. Very rich. The juke boxes beside each table was fun. Burgers and fries were typical diner fare, which is the point.

Hollywood Themed Standard American Fare Went for the breakfast, as Mel's seemed to be the only place around Hollywood to get a traditional meal. It was....good. Hard to go wrong with bacon, eggs, toast, etc. Got the French Toast / one egg / bacon breakfast. She got a standard breakfast. It was a safe choice.We would probably go back, if the same hotel choice were made.
