The coffee's pretty good here but there are a few things you should know before going:
1. Cappuccinos and flat whites are made the same way despite both being listed on their menu as if they're different drinks. Even though recorded history would tell you otherwise, Menotti's believes that flat whites are, in fact, cappuccinos.
2. If you order a cortado, they'll add sugar to it. They won't tell you this because they believe that cortados are traditionally made with sugar and that you should know this. Maybe every book and blog on espresso drinks is wrong and Menotti's has cracked the case, but they won't educate you on their revelation upon ordering. If you want your cortado made without sugar, you have to order a piccolo, a drink that's supposed to be made differently than a cortado and is not listed on their menu.
3. Don't expect them to ask you what size drink you'd like if different sizes are an option. They default to a large and expect you to know that.
4. The onus is on you, the customer, to order your drink according to Menotti's unspoken rules and redefinitions. If you don't, you may be berated by the barista (like I was yesterday).
My husband and I had been going to Menotti's weekly, but we've found other coffee shops in the area that serve up drinks that are just as good, if not better, and don't make ordering confusing or give attitude.
