"Peter Merriman was one of the pioneers of the local food scene in Hawaii—he was at the forefront of efforts to grow vegetables in the local volcanic soils, so they could be eaten fresh (rather than after a lengthy journey on a boat). Today, he partners with local farmers to serve his three restaurants, and there’s one each on Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. The dining room and menu are dressed up without being overly stuffy, so it’s ideal for a nicer family or group outing. Try the upcountry salad (made with kale and butter lettuce from local farms), the fresh-caught mahi mahi, and vegetarian taro cake."

Merriman’s - Review - Kapalua - Maui - The Infatuation

"You’ve always wanted to crash a wedding, but the fear of knocking over the cake while hiding from the father-of-the-bride has kept you away. Since Merriman’s doubles as one of Maui’s most popular wedding venues, dinner here might be your best chance. Overlooking Kapalua Bay on Maui’s west side, Merriman’s is perfectly positioned for sunset views and gazing out over the water to seem like you’re contemplating life when really you just can’t decide what to order. They use almost exclusively local ingredients in their farm-to-table dishes, though if you’re not looking to spend quite as much, you can still enjoy the views at their outdoor lounge, The Point, which has daily live music and Happy Hour specials from 3-5pm." - Leah Ponichtera

Merriman’s Kapalua delivered an unforgettable dining experience. The food was phenomenal—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The oceanfront setting made it even more special, especially during sunset. Service was top notch from start to finish—attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. It felt like every detail was thoughtfully handled, making the whole evening feel effortless. This is definitely one of those places where everything comes together just right. Five stars without a doubt, order everything and share it so you can try more things.

Google
Very nice setting, excellent service, both are 5 stars. Most tables have a very nice ocean view, and you can see the sunset as you eat. Food unfortunately didn't match - I would give it 3 stars - not bad but nothing special. Pork shank was too salty, fish was overcooked, pasta was just ok - none of the entrees were memorable although the lamb was very well cooked. The octopus al escargot, beet salad appetizers and the bread were good. It's still a very nice experience, you are paying mostly for the excellent atmosphere and high end service. I would still recommend going once to experience the sunset and the feeling of a high end restaurant.

This little restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. Found a last minute reservation after our original dinner plans fell through and I was left very impressed. The food and cocktails were absolutely delicious and thoughtfully presented. The service was absolutely lovely: friendly, attentive and efficient. Our server Lauren was fantastic and deserves top marks. We were given a table close to the water, which unfolded to a lovely sunset as the meal progressed. Is it expensive for what it is? Yes—I won’t lie. But the experience could not have been better and I hope to return again in the future!

We had made reservations long in advance because we knew we wanted to experience Merriman's Kapalua. We had a perfect table with a view of the point and sunset. We brought our favorite bottle of wine (that they didn't carry) and wine corking fee was only $35. Our server was very attentive and even shared a glass of wine with us because she had never tried it! This was my wife's favorite food during our trip. The appetizers, main entrees, and desserts were incredibly delicious.

Merriman's was amazing! We were celebrating our anniversary, and the entire staff from the moment we entered until we left made us both feel special. Gary, our waiter timed everything perfectly, and the food was incredible! I highly recommend coming here.

This was our first trip to Maui and we wanted to try Merriman’s but didn’t think about it until shortly before we arrived. I was still able to get a reservation at the bar and it turned out to be the best place in the house to sit. We got to watch an amazing bartender make cool unique cocktails while we enjoyed our dinner. We were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us a special treat. Food was delicious and the service was top notch. We definitely enjoyed the evening.

Google
One of the most romantic restaurants I’ve been to. Beautiful scenery. We were given the perfect table to enjoy the view. Service was amazing. Our server, Michael, was excellent! Would go here again when back on Maui!

Google
It doesn't matter where you sit, this restaurant has stunning views. The cocktails are artfully hand crafted, the food is exquisite, and the servers are delightful. Everything is fresh and delicious. We didn't feel rushed. We ordered and transitioned from appetizers to entree to dessert at our pace, not the server's or the restaurant's pace. Our server, Alexis, was genuinely nice, knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients, and was our personal tour guide on our culinary adventure. We look forward to visiting this establishment again soon.

Yelp
Merriman's was the restaurant in Hawaii that I heard the most about and it lived up to, and exceeded anything that I could've imagined. The view from this restaurant is spectacular and I highly suggest getting a reservation at sunset. The service and ambiance here is some of the best I have experienced. I ordered the Harissa Scallops & Clams which were just incredible. They were served Parmesan potato gnocchi and an orange saffron butter sauce. This pairing was incredible and was one of the best dishes I have had. The chow fun noodles were also amazing and all of the seafood we ordered was so fresh. The pork shank was incredibly tender if you are looking for a non-seafood option here! Great experience, and hope to return.

Yelp
Merriman's in Maui gave my wife and me an unforgettable experience for our 10-year anniversary this January. From the moment we arrived, the warm ambiance, attentive staff, and breathtaking oceanfront setting set the perfect stage for a romantic evening. We were seated just before sunset, and the views were absolutely stunning. The golden hues reflecting on the water, coupled with the gentle breeze, made it feel like a scene straight out of a postcard. The food was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, highlighting local ingredients. Merriman's is more than just a meal; it's an experience. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion--or simply want to treat yourself to an incredible dinner--this is it. Thank you to the team at Merriman's for making our milestone anniversary one to remember!

Yelp
Dining at Merriman's Kapalua was an unforgettable experience! The oceanfront setting is stunning, but what truly made the evening special was our server, Leah. She went above and beyond with her friendly, attentive service, and spot on food recommendations. The steak she suggested was cooked to perfection, and the Mai Tai was easily the best I've ever had...perfectly balanced and refreshing. Every dish Leah recommended was fantastic, from the freshest seafood to the decadent dessert. If you're looking for top-tier food, drinks, and service in Maui, Merriman's is the place to go.

Yelp
Had a really nice meal here! The service was great and attentive. We had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi and the daily special. We really enjoyed both meals. We thought the fish was cooked perfectly on both dishes but the sides felt a little lack luster. A little boring and didn't seem to fit the flavors of the fish. It's definitely an upscale vibe if that's what you are looking for, but also lots of families with kids. We came late (after sunset) and do think we missed out on a lot of the appeal of the place without the nice views. I'd recommend coming earlier to enjoy in daylight.

Yelp
Great restaurant! Started off with the hummus which was great, we also had complimentary squash soup which was also very good. For entrees we had the shrimp and clams and the 12 oz ribeye, both were delicious. Our server was excellent and so attentive. We also had a great view from our table. Would 100% recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! We started with the Chow Fun noodles. The pork and shrimp were delicious. For entrees we had the Mahi Mahi and Seared Ahi. We loved the slaw that came with the Ahi especially. We finished off with the bread budding. View was beautiful and there was a refreshing breeze while we ate. Service was very fast and attentive. We made a reservation a few months in advance and would stop again if we came back!

Yelp
(+) Fantastic ocean views (+) Wok-charred Ahi & Ono (+) Lilikoi Pot De Crème Merriman's Kapalua has the most amazing ocean views you'll ever see. Chef/Restauranteur Peter Merriman, who has restaurants all over the Hawaiian Islands, has created one of my favorite fine dining experiences. He is known for their 'farm to table' concept, which means that they only serve the freshest products. 90% of the products are grown locally or caught. Valet parking is for use and the menu is created with all Hawaiian favorites. Reservations are recommended and do fill up during sunset hours. Food/Drinks: My wife and I shared the chow fun noodles with pork and shrimp, macadamia nut-crusted fresh catch, and the wok charred ahi & ono. The quality of all the ingredients were on full display. My favorite is the wok charred ahi because of the seared ahi and how tender the ahi is. The cabbage slaw and scallion rice were a great choice to pair with the fish. I also ordered an old fashion that was also good. Service/ambiance: From the valet to leaving the restaurant, the service was great for a fine dining experience. We felt comfortable and well taken care of. I forgot the name of our waitress, but she was awesome in answering all our questions. The dress code is dressy casual even though some people weren't dressed that way, but it doesn't bother me. Overall, if you want to splurge on a nice dinner, I would recommend Merriman's Kapalua. I have not been to the other locations, but I definitely want to visit if the opportunity presents itself.

Yelp
Just wow wow wow! View is incredible! We ate at the bar and it was great with a great view and fantastic bartender with yummy drinks. Such a cute a place. And the food left me speechless!! It was the best. Had the shrimp cocktail, beet salad, cavatelli app, poke, yummy bread, the scallops & calms w/gnocchi, ahi entree, bread pudding, and mochi cake and it was all fantastic! But the ahi tuna was the best I've ever had in my life with that smoked taste. Just wow. And my 2nd fav was the poke and tuna is not even my fav fish but apparently Hawaiian tuna is like no other!! It's a must when on the island!

Yelp

Yelp
Merriman's has one of the most spectacular sunset views paired with a resaurant on Maui. Definitely book a table right before sunset and if you can, try to get one on the edge. Totally worth it. If not you can order and stroll along their grassy area near the shore. Lots of great photo ops. Food was pretty good. I've eaten here twice and my faves are either wok seared ahi or macnut crusted fish. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were super cool. Our food came out timely and watching them churn drinks provided entertainment. Also Merrimans had live music which added to the overall ambiance of the night. Highly recommend this spot as a beautiful upscale restaurant with good food and beautiful views. Aloha!

Yelp
Delicious restaurant that really makes you feel like you're on vacation! The food was delicious, so were the malasadas that aren't always on the dessert menu, and Barry is a great waiter!

Yelp
As always a great meal with wonderful service. Started with an amuse bouche of mushroom soup and warm bread with tomato water. Then table side made ahi poke with. Avocado and taro chips. Then rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and veggies and scallops and clams with gnocchi. To finish the always incredible chocolate purse with vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
Solid spot for date night- very beautiful ocean side location and we got to enjoy live music all night, which honestly to me was the highlight of the whole experience. The artist singing the night we went was fantastic. Our server was absolutely lovely. The views are good but it's a little overblown in my opinion and everyone is trying to get a sunset view and snap pictures around sunset so it's actually not that pleasant of an experience. In terms of the food, I enjoyed the appetizers a bit more than the main dishes. The fish dish we ordered (which I believe was their special of the day) was average and the pork shank was very tender, but a bit too salty for my taste. We got their pasta appetizer and the octopus, and I very much loved both of them.

Yelp
Again, Merriman's Mai Tai (Kula White & Dark Rums, Orange Curaçao, House-Made Macadamia Nut Orgeat, Lime, Honey-Liliko'i Foam) did not disappoint. I just love sipping Mai Tais and enjoying the sunset at Merriman's. Their food is not bad but on the high side. The staff is always friendly and professional. Parking is a little hard to find but they have complimentary valet service so you and your party can just relax and enjoy the dining experience.

Yelp
Merriman's Restaurant is such an exquisite place to dine, especially with the beautiful ocean view. Service is beyond exceptional from the valet, hostess, server, and manager. It was our anniversary, and they customized the menu for us, which was such a nice touch. We ordered the steak with garlic potatoes, and it was honestly the best dish I've ever had. The steak was so juicy and buttery. We also ordered Wailua purse (dessert), which was a flakey pastry and ice cream. I highly recommend ordering both the steak and Wailua purse! Valet is complimentary. Reservations are highly recommended as they are booked and busy! You can also check out the beach during your dining experience. I personally swam after dinner, and we saw double rainbows! 1000% recommend dining at Merriman's!

Yelp
Okay first off, they have complimentary valet parking. We came early and were told we can enjoy drinks at the bar outside. We should have stayed outside. Drinks were average overall, the would say choose the Mai Tai or calamansi drink. The view was beautiful from the bar, we were able to catch the sunset. Tables are first come first serve. My reservation was at 7, and I was told the host will text me when our table is ready. I checked with the server at the bar at 7 and he said he'll check 715 came along, I checked with them again. Then he went inside and I was told they forgot about us... they did apologize. They said they'll make it up to and and that they got us a great table. I felt like that was a lie, from our table we weren't even again the view. My table faced the table pictured. We can barely see past the table in front to us and they sat us at a 4 top, not 2 so it did not feel romantic. Our sever was extremely sweet! Food wise I would say the bread and ceasar salad was great. We shared the steak, they split everything for us and we also got a side of the broccoli. Our meal came, they forgot the broccoli until I mentioned it. It was just ok, taste a bit burnt. Now for the steak, my cut did not rest for long enough, it was a bloody mess. We wanted a medium rare. My partner cut was a lot thinner and he didn't have this issue. That's inconsistent. The sides (mash potato and green beans) were just ok. Save your money and go elsewhere for a meal and drinks over 300+ there are so many other places to go to on Maui.

Yelp
A truly one of a kind anniversary experience in the heart of Kapalua Maui. We booked a reservation telling them it was our 2 year anniversary and they blew us out the water. The staff is exceptional and very helpful. They know their stuff. Any questions will be answered and jokes will be made. Our waiter also did a great job at explaining the catch for today and their specials. We first sat at the bar enjoyed a Mai Tai and another specialty drink. The host was kind the entire time and got us seated in a timely manner. As for the food -- the sashimi was very fresh as to be expected for Hawaii. But the ribeye steak here is an absolute must. Super juicy, tender and succulent. I would come here again just for the steak alone. A classy place for couples or anyone looking for an upper echelon experience. Thank you guys again for making our vacation visit a place to remember. One of the best memories I'll have for a lifetime.

Yelp
Started out a little rough with the main hostess.... She was a bit inconsiderate and rude. But the evening turned out to be an incredible birthday dinner. We landed at Leah's table and are so fortunate. Leah is so attentive, cares about your experience and you can see the passion she has for the great food Merimans provides. We sat out facing the ocean and a lovely table, perfectly placed in the center of the tables. Started out with the Tako a l'escargot - their take on escargot. Octopus instead of snail. Wow, just wow. The octopus was tender, buttery soft. And the cognac garlic butter was so flavorful. Paired well with the sourdough bread. Don't let me forget about bread service - fresh baked bread with olive oil tomato, yum! We enjoyed the fish along with the clams and shrimp. Both delicious and full of flavor. If you want the best experience they offer, try to sit at Leah's table. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for a great time and meal!!! Oh, and the chocolate purse is heaven.

Yelp
A beautiful fine dining establishment. The food and service were excellent. We had the Wok charred Ahi & Ono, Kalua pork & sweet onion quesadilla, and chilled white pacific shrimp. Everything was well made, fresh and delicious. The main selling point that distinguish this eatablishment from the rest is its georgeous location, situated to have an unobstructed view of the Maui sunset. Unfortunately we didnt win the weather jackpot, as the evening was cloudy and windy. That was no fault of theirs Reservation is required. The menu pricing is what one would expected of a Hawaiian fine dining restaurant. No real dress code as plenty of people including myself attended in beach wear. Would recommend if you are interested in fine dining with a memorable view.

Yelp
Service was great and the food was as well. We were given the best seat in the house for our pre reserved date night overlooking the bay and out into the ocean while listening to live performance music nearby. We both ordered the land nightly special (7os filet) with a sauce or compound butter to accompany it. The steak was tender and itself easy to eat but was not salted or peppered before or after cooking. It tasted like it had been unpackaged, cooked, and plated never seeing a speck of seasoning, salt, or pepper. That to significant degree reduced the experience for the both of us as steak is supposed to be even mildly prepared. Not even the sauce or butter provided with the steaks could save it and it was akin to eating beef flavored water The ceviche was tasty (despite the only 4 provided tortilla chips) the bread and oil was delicious, the desserts we ordered were as well. Chocolate purse and bread pudding. The chocolate purse was very small which was a bummer as it was so good! Overall a great place but could use a little improvement to better the experience. Mostly really the steak needs some love because this left me sad and unsatisfied for the money spent.

Yelp
After extensive research online on Yelp, multiple food blogs and Reddit (yes, Reddit is a fabulous source for food reviews), we decided to book Merriman's Kapalua, and it was probably one of the best dining experiences I've ever had - definitely ranking in the top 10 so far. In addition to that, the view of the ocean and sunset from our table was exceptionally breathtaking. From start to end, our server Miguel gave us a personalized experience. He was attentive, resourceful, and added to our evening. We were celebrating my partner's birthday, and Merriman's - Kapalua and staff definitely made it one to remember. From the live music to front-row seat watching the sunset to 5-star food quality, we were big fans. We easily spent over a few enjoyable hours just enjoying the entire experience. This place felt like a dream. The food, drinks, and dessert were all phenomenal. We honestly had zero to no complaints about any of it, which is rare! Miguel did a great job pacing the orders too, because everything came out at the right temperature and time. The three standouts of the evening: Daily Fish Special - Hawaiian Ono Pineapple-Macadamia Nut Bread Pudding No Ka 'Oi My partner and I agreed that the Ono was probably one of the best-prepared fish we've had in a very long time. We were blown away by how tender, flavorful, and delicious it was. Overall, we're extremely huge fans of Merriman's - Kapalua. I strongly recommend checking this place out if you're celebrating a special occasion and/or are looking for an upscale food experience in Maui! Oh, and keep an eye out for reservations! We initially had an earlier time, but was able to snag a reservation closer to sunset. Be diligent! We're both still smiling about how magical the experience was!

Yelp
The hubby and I went for a special occasion during our Hawaii vacay, and we are so glad that we did! Amazing location, service and food! From the valet, to the host / hostess, the wait staff, cooks and manager, service was top notch. Shout out to Tiffany, who provided service with a warm personality and friendly smile. We had a reservation just before sunset, and we were so fortunate to get seated at a great table in time to watch the sun retreat. Tiffany kindly offered us bubbly to start off our special date, and gave us plenty to time between ordering drinks and food to settle in. For drinks, we ordered and enjoyed the no ka oi and calamansi crush. Reviews raved about the tako escargot, so we started with that. I ordered the scallop and clams while the hubby ordered the night's a'ina, which was lamb chops. Shortly after, we were served fresh bread with a tomato oil dipping sauce. I liked the gazpacho like dip and bread, but I would have preferred an herbed butter (not a dig, but more of a preference). The tako was served piping hot, enveloped in seasoned butter. I enjoyed it atop the toast, as did my date. The dish would benefit from 2 more slices of grilled bread, but we were able to enjoy it with the remainder of the initial bread served. We were also served an amuse bouche of mushroom soup before our main dishes, which was a delicious bonus. Now for the mains. Both dishes were nicely presented and temperature HOT (super important to us), and both were absolutely delicious. My husband said the lamb chops were the best he's ever had, and the shepherds pie that accompanied it was smooth and tasty. The scallops were so tender and delicious, and the overall dish was a hit. We were so full, but we opted to order dessert anyway! We thoroughly enjoyed the pineapple and macadamia nut bread pudding, which was served hot and with a scoop of ice cream. To top off the night, Tiffany sent us home with some chocolates to enjoy later! The only damper, which is not at the fault of Merriman's, is our date started with these annoying tiny flies that were attracted to my water (several stuck to the condensation on the glass) and one decided to take enjoy my cocktail as well! We were constantly swatting them away, but luckily they went away once the sun was completely set. It was a nearly perfect night and we will definitely be back on our next Maui vacay!

Yelp
Beautiful spot for dinner. Book at sunset! Need to book in advance. Service and food both great! Free valet.

Yelp
What a blessed dining experience! It was our first time here, but our dear friends who have been before praised their food and drinks, and especially the phenomenal view! We arrived just a few minutes prior to them opening. We didn't have reservations, but it was early enough and the friendly host was so kind to seat our party of 5 right away. We placed our food and drink orders as soon as we sat down and then went outside for a quick photo op since it had just finished raining. LOL! Phenomenal view of the Pacific and the island of Molokai in the background. Our drinks were overflowing and sinfully refreshing (mahalo bartender), and our pupus came out hot and delicious! The bread service and shot of mushroom bisque was next level! I can't end my review without special mention to Alvaro (not "Alfonso" because we enjoyed the food and drinks...lol!), who took great care of us from beginning to end! The best places have the best workers! Aloha & mahalo till next time...

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Merriman's in Maui, and I can say without a doubt that it was one of the most remarkable culinary experiences I have ever had. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was captivated by the stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the lush, verdant landscapes that surrounded us. The service at Merriman's was truly exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. They were able to provide expert recommendations on the menu and were more than happy to accommodate any special requests or dietary needs. But the real star of the show was the food, particularly the fresh seafood. I opted for the daily catch, and I was blown away by the quality and freshness of the fish. It was perfectly cooked, with a delicate and flavorful preparation that allowed the natural sweetness of the seafood to shine. The presentation was also top-notch, with each dish served with an artistic flair that added to the overall dining experience. Beyond the food and service, the ambiance at Merriman's was truly breathtaking. The open-air design and strategic placement of the tables allowed for unobstructed views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of tranquility and connection with nature that is hard to find in a restaurant setting. Overall, my experience at Merriman's in Maui was nothing short of exceptional. From the stunning views and impeccable service to the delectable fresh seafood and inviting ambiance, this restaurant has truly earned its place as one of the best dining destinations on the island. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure in Maui.

Yelp
We came to Merriman's to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The location, service, and food was out of this world! Let's start with the location. Located on the Kapalua side of Maui on a point overlooking the water. The restaurant requires reservations but there is an outside area on the point that offers bar bites and drinks. It's first come first serve. Since it was our anniversary we made reservations in advance. Our reservations were at 4:30pm, which didn't give us a table right by the sea side, but the view was still amazing. Once we were seated we were greeted by our waitress Tiffany. She greeted us with Prosecco and acknowledged our anniversary. Such a special way to start the evening. Post sparking wine, we both enjoyed the Merriman's mai tai. The lilikoi foam with egg whites is amazing! Our meal was over the top and I loved every part of it. Our evening stated with an amuse bouche of mushroom soup and homemade bread. We stared with an appetizer which was out of this world. If you like octopus, you have to get the tako l'escargot. Buttery, herb goodness. Pure amazing! For dinner, I ordered the nightly fish special which came with three proteins (all seafood) and a tom kha base. The flavors were so amazing! My husband ordered the red snapper, which was 1.5 lbs! It was giant! Normally for 2 individuals, but he tackled it by himself. I tried a handful of bites. I could have shared it with him. For dessert, we got the chocolate purse which was the gooey ness of a lava cake wrapped in phyllo dough with vanilla ice cream. My love language! To top it off, I enjoyed an espresso martini with dessert. Dinner was beyond amazing along with the service we received all night long.

Yelp
We made reservations for Merrimans for our very first night in Maui, and it was practically straight off the plane. After a 9 hour travel day, I wanted to cancel the resy, but we rallied and made it. Best decision ever! It started our trip off amazing, and really set a good tone. Mai tais were amazing, I was so pleased that one of their more casual sister restaurants near our hotel, Monkeypod, served them as all. The poke, which I had unbelievably high expectations for, hit full marks. So fresh, so well seasoned, and the taro chips were a great pair. I also had the nights special which was a white fish, I cannot remember. There's so many names for the same kind of fish, it's kinda crazy. But it was served with kabocha squash, my favorite kind of squash. I was pleased to see such a seasonal influence. I also have celiac disease, and they were really great at making me feel safe to eat. They were very willing to make substitutions where necessary to make a dish GF. I had wanted to try the macadamia nut crusted fish, as I found it unique to Hawaii, but the crust actually has panko in it. They offered to even do it without it. But the special was naturally GF!

Yelp
IMHO We wanted to share a special meal and a spectacular Maui ocean view with our friends, and we knew Merriman's was the spot! We made a 4 p.m. reservation for best "front" table seating availability but were taken to a slightly obscure spot, which was just okay. My husband spoke to our waiter Eric, and asked about better seating on the lanai, and he was happy to get us re-situated, even though it meant we would have another waiter. Eric said he wanted our whole dining experience to be memorable and he was happy to oblige! (I'm glad my husband slipped him a thank-you tip!) Our new table spot was absolutely perfect, especially for our friends who could see whales breeching in the far-away distance. Brandon was our new waiter, and he was just as delightful as Eric. We started with a Merriman's Mai Tai and No Ka Oi cocktails, each $20. Both refreshing and my hubby loved his Mai Tai so much, of course he had to order another. We chose a Chow Fun appetizer, $28. This was tasty but a tad too salty and unlike the chow fun I'm used to. For that reason, I wouldn't order it again. We shared the Beet salad, $24 and it was yummy! My hubby ordered the Scallops and Clams, $72, and I had the 14 oz. ribeye, $89. I brought a hefty portion of that ribeye home as leftovers! It was super juicy and flavorful, just like I love my ribeye to be! We chose the Bread Pudding, $24 for dessert. It was nice but not memorable. Overall, our dining experience was wonderful, the service was epic and the views spectacular! If you've never been to Merriman's, make that reservation! You won't be sorry!

Yelp
Wonderful view, service, and food! They are right next to a gorgeous public beach, so plan to take a stoll or dip after your visit. Perfect lunch spot! From the second you walk in, there are gorgeous flowers and cute lizards lining your path. The cocktail list is wonderful! The was especially delish. This place is very Vegan friendly! They put the steak on the side to make the Papaya appetizer vegan. It was so yummy. The bread was a hit at the table! The Vegan Curry was phenomenal! They swapped the fish for tofu. The dish was accompanied by several sides, including sambal, mangos, and bananas. After trying my first slurp of soup, I was in heaven, adding the sides made it next level. Protip- plan ahead, the desserts look amazing, but we were too full to order any.

Yelp
I'm somewhat shocked by the love for this restaurant. The highlight is the view, but the food was only ok -- perfectly serviceable, unexciting and overpriced even by Maui standards (though not a factor in the "score"). The service was off; our waiter repeated himself and it really felt like he was going through the motions. Our visit was by no means a bad experience, but it was fine, full stop. We won't be returning.

Yelp
Merriman's is a restaurant we always try to go to! The food is always amazing and service is wonderful. I particularly love the Merriman's in Maui because the restaurant is located right along the ocean, so the views are spectacular! You can even easily walk down to take a picture with the sunset there. I do recommend making reservations early because they tend to fill up. Also note that you have to put down a deposit when making your reservation ($5 per person) but that deposit will go to your bill.

Yelp
Had a date night here, and it did not disappoint. The catch of the day when we went was ono, which is my favorite, and we got the ceviche and it was delicious. Not to mention, it was during sunset and this little cove on the coast has one of the best views I've seen. Jasmine was our server, and she was so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend coming here if you're in the area, and looking for a nice dinner!

Yelp
Five stars is not enough! First trip to Maui, and wanted one really nice dinner experience. Merriman's came highly recommended and I know why. Service was impeccable from the valet to the host staff, and even our server, Carmen. Drinks were terrific, and we enjoyed the amuse bouche and complimentary bread with bruschetta style dipping oil. Entrees were delicious, and my fish was probably the best version of macadamia-crusted I've ever had. Chocolate espresso creme brûlée' was fantastic. The view was amazing, and the decor inside is understated but subtly tropical. The little touches they offer make for a memorable evening. Pricing was fair for a restaurant of this caliber. Truly can't wait to go back, it was worth every penny!

Yelp
Reservation is needed for this place and we reserved this place few months before we know we are going to Maui to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant location is awesome with amazing sunset view. It has a unique huge deck and it's close to the ocean. You can hear the waves while sipping drinks. Mai Tai is a must order. We ordered Merriman's salad to share, Harissa-spiced diver sea scallops and clams (replaced by prawns due to out of claim and Macadamia nut crusted fresh catch (Mahi Mahi) They gave us honey bread to start which is soft and tasty. The salad has fresh ingredients. The fish are moist and juicy. The scallops are to die for. I am not a fan of gnocchi but it was slightly seared with a crunchy outside but soft inside. It's a perfect texture and I finished all gnocchi at the end. We finished off our dinner with chocolate espresso creme brulee. They gave us ice cream and macadamia nut tart as our anniversary dessert. The tart is surprisingly very delicious. This is a high end expensive restaurant but we are glad that we celebrated our anniversary in such a unique location, excellent service and quality of food. A must try once in your life.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to Debra, our server, who was AMAZING! Honestly, this was one of the better dining experiences I have had. We made a reservation a few weeks in advance and arrived right on time. it is valet parking only, but they were really efficient. The view here is unbeatable. The grounds that surround the restaurant are breathtaking and you have endless ocean around you. The restaurant is open air and it seems like you have a pretty great view, regardless of where you sit. There was live music when we were there on a Friday evening. The service that Debra and others on the team provided is unbeatable. Everyone was incredibly helpful and kind. We tried various cocktails and their mai tai, NO KA 'OI and espresso martinis were exceptional. *The Caesar salad was fantastic and came with pieces of fried green tomatoes instead of croutons. *the shrimp and pork chow fun appetizer was great. Good portion and had a bit of a zing, but wasn't spicy. * we had the fish special, which was seasoned and prepared well, and tasted extremely fresh. * my son loved their kids menu and was super happy with his fancy steak that came with mashed potatoes and green beans.

Yelp
We dined here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We reserved an early dinner time hoping to get a ocean view table on the lanai. We made reservations early on and put in the request for the specific seating. However when we dined there, they sat at inside the restaurant and sort of far back. We did see the ocean but from a further distance. That was a disappointment because its not that everyday we can travel to Maui and we were here to celebrate something special. We noticed a few tables that we closer to the ocean and were emptied. However the hostess said they are reserved for a big party. I guess reservations for small parties are less important than big parties. As for our food, everything was delicious except the chowfun. Do yourself a favor and do not order this if you come here. It was overly salty and tastes strongly of ginger. And I am person who prefers savory foods over sweet. It didn't have a good wok flavor. We got it as an entree for my husband who doesn't care for fish. They charged us $58 for it. Not worth it. Our server was nice and professional. He gave us a complimentary dessert. Parking is only valet parking but its free. If you have the money to splurge for a special occasion you should dine here. But be aware that you may not get a nice table even if you request it and book an early seating. And stay away from the chowfun!

Yelp
Merriman's in Kapalua is an absolute must when visiting Maui. Every time I'm on the island, I make a point to dine at this stunning restaurant. The outdoor seating with an ocean view sets the perfect tone--romantic, classy, and wonderfully relaxing. We valeted the car, which is complimentary, and the service from the valet to the host to our server was exceptional. The food? Incredible. Every dish we ordered was a 5/5. The day's special fish was fresh and flavorful, with a sauce that elevated it to the next level. The macadamia nut-crusted catch was perfectly cooked, with amazing seasoning and texture. The scallops with clams were another highlight--perfectly seared with a mandarin butter sauce that was simply divine. Merriman's continues to exceed my expectations. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Maui. The prices are reasonable, the food is outstanding, and the service and views are unbeatable. Don't forget to make a reservation. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I'd recommend this place just for the view and the service. The food itself is really expensive (probably a bit more I d be willing to pay for it). Appetizers and desserts were delicious but our main entrees fell a bit short (fish was overcooked sadly). I'd probably come back but might pick different items on the menu.

Yelp
I've been eating here with family/friends for decades and sometimes by myself! Land in Maui, eat at Merriman's. Start with a Mai Tai which is topped with lilikoi foam. The food is consistent, flavorful, and amazing. Always. Local caught seafood and farm to table. I have heard live music here sometimes. Outside patio happy hour from 4p on. Best to get a reservation for main dining. Service friendly and attentive. Highlights- Poke, the caesar salad has fried green tomatoes as the "croutons". Diver scallops always good and prepared a different way each time I've come in. Ahi, mahi mahi, and tender filets. Always hard to pick ONE dessert. This is the place to get a few!

Yelp
The service was excellent, the food was very good although I feel that their land selections were limited, forcing me to have a salad, an appetizer, and a side of vegetables. Also the broccoli didn't have chili or garlic, just normal pan sautéed broccoli. The drinks were delicious and actually had alcohol in them which was nice for a change (compared to other high end restaurants in the area).

Yelp
Sat out at the Point Bar and ate from the happy hour drink and food menu. Exceptional Food, service and sunset views. The happy hour at the Point doesn't take reservations and Happy Hour menu is from 4-530pm. Would recommend this to everyone.

Yelp
I wanted to treat my boyfriend for his birthday and use it as an excuse to eat somewhere on island I otherwise would avoid due to price tag. I am so happy we chose to do that with Merriman's. We were greeted at our table with complimentary champagne and a personalized Happy Birthday menu for him which was a lovely way to set the tone. They do note reservation tables are given by res time so we went at 4:45 and got a lovely table at the window with a view of the bay. The mai thai and the basil vodka cocktail were great. The spicy tequila cocktail wasn't anything special and was more of flavored chili water than a fun drink for my taste. Not much in the way of a beer list, and the wine list was fairly priced. We got the Tako Escargot (octopus) as an appetizer and then proceeded with the Filet and the Scallops and Clams. Absolutely everything we ate was delicious. We could have taken or left the bread service with the tomato jam and gazpacho palette cleanser but it was still nice to have. The espresso martinis at the patio bar were a lovely post-dinner sunset cocktail as well! Had such a magical time.

Yelp
We showed up early for our dinner reservation and we're able to sit, have a few drinks, and watch the sunset at their patio area atop a cliff overlooking the ocean. What a great concept, that all restaurants with a view should adopt! It was a stunning view. Dinner was great, too. Would definitely return.

Yelp
From the moment you check in, you feel welcomed with warmth and smiles and genuine service. This dining experience was the best I have had in years. The beautiful seaside view is unrivaled. Some of the special features: Live music, great ambience and just lovely people taking care of you! We were treated to an amuse bouche, escargot style tako, yummy seafood scallops and clams, fresh fish and some awesome bread pudding and a chocolate "purse" with ice cream! Then like other fine dining experiences they gave us a small brownie treat to take home. This is my new favorite Maui establishment. Thank you to the staff and managers who make this place such a delightful experience! Oh and they have complimentary valet! What else can you ask for

Yelp
Our closer meal after a week in Maui... this was one of the top 5 meals of my entire life - it was that good! From the moment we walked in we were hooked - the vibe was immaculate with the twinkly lights and live music. Now for the food: * Cocktails - the Pu'u Keka'a was one of my favorite old fashioned riffs I've ever had. Bread - warm, soft, wow * Apps - Chow Fun Noodles and Ahi Poke were both incredible! * Mains - all 4 were divine - Steak, Mac Crusted Ahi, Rack of Lamb cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. * Dessert - both perfect The bill was $700 for 4 of us, but worth every penny for this experience!

Yelp
Amazing views! We got the perfect table at the edge over looking the bar and ocean. This is THE restaurant to enjoy a fancy meal at sunset. The food was perfection, the service was exceptional, and the views...well I just can't say enough. The live musician was a great touch to keep in line with the island vibes. Just note that you will have to make reservations here months in advance. It is that kind of place. A definite must!
