MetLife Building

I have to walk through the MetLife building every time I commute into the city for work. The entrance I go in leads right into Grand Central so it is very convenient. Every time I am walking back to commute home I get to see the MetLife sign on the building. I think it is pretty cool. Inside they have some stores like coffee shops and convenient stores though I never personally went in any. I would definitely recommend checking out the building if you are in NYC. Giving it five out of five stars.

well planned iconic building right next to the most iconic rail station the grand central station in NY. You need a QR code to access offices here. So make sure the person inviting you has registered you in advance and has a QR code ready for you. The building has a central parking that is slightly hard to find and requires you to use the ramp and come over to the other side. The place is directly above the grand central station and has a direct entry into the foyer - taking a sub could be the best bet to get here

Went here for a seminar great place and awesome security. The seminar hall was equipped with the latest technology and it was a very pleasant experience. The associates were polite and very helpful. Bathrooms are very clean and high-tech.

The Metlife building has been one of my favorite building locations to work at throughout the years living and working in NYC. The building is iconic, and it's attached right to Grand Central Station. If you're coming in from Connecticut or Westchester, you can't get any more convenient. Aside from all of the businesses in the area, there is also a handful of nice shops and restaurants within the lobby area of this building. The rent is very expensive so if your company has an office within this building consider yourself lucky!

It is where the Grand Central Station is, always busy except after 10pm or so or before 630am. I love this building, sometimes I make sure I look up to enjoy the ceiling art.

Gorgeous NYC landmark building which is a must see when in the city. During the holiday season, it really shines!! If you are in the area, a must see for sure!!

I can only rate the Christmas display and I don't work there.. The public can view the tree and have pics taken.. A Great Christmas tree

This building can be seen from miles away. When I look South on Park Avenue from the Upper East Side there it is guiding me toward Grand Central Terminal. There are security employees after you enter. I also saw plain clothes police with beautiful dogs inside and on the street. It's hard to keep this building closed to the public. Every day people pass through in and out to catch trains, shop, eat and work in the area. The food and high end merchandise is fun to browse. It's holiday season and decor is beautiful. Afternoon concerts provide a break from the humming city. Bring your lunch and listen to local groups perform. Some are coming from Connecticut to sing too. Employees I meet are always respectful. No problem opening the door for you as you enter and exit. They're helpful with directions too. A must see for any tourist. Just keep your sights low. Up in the building are offices. No admission for the General Public. Just look up to enjoy the building both inside and out. Yes, I have been here many times. It feels like home. I highly recommend.

The sixth largest insurance company in terms of the number of non-bank assets in the world and the third largest insurance company in the United States by the same indicator after Prudential Financial and Berkshire Hathaway headquartered in New York! You should make good use of your time visiting this place and talking to the company's employees about insurance or job opportunities with this insurance company!

A great view under Pershing Square facing Grand Central Terminal and MetLife building. Spend a few minutes on 42nd and you will find yourself people watching. Landmarks will forever define NYC.

I happen to love this building because of its beauty at night when it's all lit up, and often times, with the colors of the season. Actually, I think that's a completely different building which sits directly in front of / adjacent to the actual MetLife Building, but I always look at them as one in the same. Either way, I love finding the MetLife Building, so I can photograph it with the other, more classic, ornate building and its colors and wonderful architecture. This recent trip, we found ourselves walking through the MetLife Bldg. because we took a wrong turn at Grand Central Terminal and found ourselves walking right through the MetLife Bldg. I thought, hey cool.... now I can say I've been there. It truly is a wonderful location to so many things.

Large monument to New York, which the locals seem to hate, and the tourists seem to love, hovering a bit behind and above the Grand Central Terminal, this houses only a few floors of MetLife (who sold the building a while back to a property company) and the name remains along with the board room (shown in some movies). Easy access to the area via transportation options, elevator banks that start on the second floor (main lobby), pass-through first floor, and great views from the higher floors of the surrounding city, unblocked lines of sight up and down Park Ave, which is great. Facilities are aging a bit but still they have working swipe card readers everywhere and the building office spaces house many companies, including Barclays on the lower levels.

This is one of the best office buildings I've ever worked in, the elevators are modern, the security desk personnel are super friendly, and it is easy to access from several different streets. The floors and public areas are pristine, and I just love the "buzz" of everyone around me who works nearby, it has a great energy that really helps get me in work mode every morning. I know it might be silly to gush about an office building, but this one is quintessential midtown Manhattan, I couldn't imagine the Grand Central area without it.

The classic Pan Am (now Met Life Building) is a NY landmark. I even worked in here for a very short while as a temp when I first moved to NYC in 1995. Shopping & restaurants in the bottom, offices up top, and easy access to metro North and Grand Central.

Couldn't tell you anything about Pan Am.... I guess my knowledge of older NYC skyscrapers is pretty bare. Overall, it's a very nice building with lots of food options around. Great building to work in.

As a lover of architecture I always make it so I see a few new buildings every time Im in town. For some reason Id forgotten to write about this place. Compared to many of the other modern architectures or more classical ones, it doesnt stand out unless it's lit up really. If you're spending any time in Grand Central, it's a hop away and worth checking out too

First off, this will always be the Pan Am Building for me and legions of other New Yorkers. That was what it was built as and until the demise of the namesake airline in 1991 what this building was officially called. When Pan Am relocated their corporate headquarters to Miami and sold off their iconic landmark headquarters building, to MetLife, the name was changed. Too bad. If I owned 200 Park Avenue I'd change it back; a lot of people would. When the building opened in March 1963, it was the largest commercial office building in the world. It's still right up there. Built over Grand Central Terminal, the PAB was and remains an architectural and engineering triumph. Many opposed the idea but once constructed it became a much revered icon in the city. Walk through any of its many entrances and you're quickly deposited into Grand Central Terminal. Tens of thousands stream through its lobby daily. On weekends, it's a ghost town. What I remember most about the PAB was the ticket office on the first floor. And until recently you could just make out where the large Pan Am logo hung on the north side of the building. There were always large scale models of Pan Am planes in the ticket office. I always loved to come in here and poke around. Much has changed in the past twenty years. It's become something of a mid-level shopping mall and food court. But there was a time when you could take an express elevator to the top floor Copter Lounge. Here could have a cocktail while awaiting your chopper flight to JFK or Newark. Pretty cool, huh? Yeah, that was when international air travel was something special.

This was a super cool building when I was a kid. Not that I remember. Mainly because of the sign on the roof, which read Pan Am. I think the sign came off in 1992 or 3. After that it ceased to be cool. Insurance is inherently uncool. Face the facts. I like that I can stroll over to Park Avenue through the lane under the Helmsley Building. For that it gets a star. It gets no more than two because it is one ugly looking building. Yes, there is a lot of floor space so it is functional but still no winning the Aesthetically Pleasing Architecture Award. Maybe that's actually a thing.

I worked in the old Pan am building from 1965 to 1986 as a waiter in the Charlie Browns restaurant on the ground floor above Grand Central sta . was working the evening shift when the helicopter acident occured. over all the building is in a very good location midtown .

I loved the Pan Am Building. The restaurants were great. I miss it, and the beautiful staircase. I never got up to the Copter Lounge, but enjoyed watching the helicopters land. So sad it had to end. It was a wonderful era. At Christmas time, there is a huge Christmas tree, and they collect toys for needy children. I look forward to this every year. Outside the Trattoria, in the summertime, the bar is a hot spot. Had fun there as well, drinking champagne, and chatting with friends.
