We ordered tacos , enchilada mole, and salmon burger. Food tasted okay. It's not really good but not bad, mediocre. The food prices are a bit on a high side. Good service. The waiter/s are very attentive.

We’ve lived in downtown San Jose for a few years but never had a meal here. We tried a few Friday evenings but it was always too crowded, I guess a good sign :) We had an afternoon lunch and really enjoyed our experience. The service was great, food was delicious, and overall the vibe was nice. We ordered the fresh guacamole, a mezcal and tamarind drink, the tacos, and a chicken burrito. We will be back!

Google
We were going to a show nearby, and this place looked like it had availability and was nicely rated. It was very cozy on the inside and we were seated right away on a Friday. On the menu, they had a Chardonnay that I’m rather fond of for a very good price. My hubs and I both ordered the chicken tortilla soup and chicken tacos. Both were phenomenal! Not gonna lie, probably the best chicken tortilla soup I’ve ever had. Prices were really good, especially for a downtown area. We were so lucky to pop into a place that was so good. Definitely check it out if you are in the area.

Google
Overall great! Food was solid. Environment is nice and chill. Got to use their wifi at the bar for a bit as I waited for a client. Also got some, interesting eyeballs and questions from the staff probably because I had not ordered a drink, totally get it. Had dinner, waiters came to check up on us many times which was fine. Will say portions are small and growing up from a Hispanic household, food didn’t exactly feel like home or filled me. Though I can see people coming here and enjoying some bites and the environment. May come back to have another meeting but otherwise I’ll admire from afar.

Google
Drinks are always tasty and the guacamole nice and fresh. Service is always good, thank you Israel for such wonderful service.

Google
The food and service is great. Giovanni was excellent and attentive and not over bearing. We sat outside at night, which was pretty chilly. They do have heat lamps on the patio, but definitely need something beefier for the cold months.

Google
Beautiful patio seating area, don't forget to make a reservation! I usually dislike dining outdoors, but Mezcal's patio area is covered to protect you from the elements, with peeks of the open sky and fresh air flow. Came here for a team dinner and we tried a bunch of stuff, but I'd definitely recommend the octopus and the guacamole! All the dishes were presented nicely. There weren't too many fun non-alcoholic drinks, but the tamarind drink I got was tasty.

Google
Truly great. The food was so flavorful and special. It was food that you would be familiar with like a tamale or a fajita but made with authentic ingredients and according to oaxacan tradition and technique. The tamale was steamed in a banana leaf giving it a fragrant quality that you don't get from the corn husk. And the mole served with it was incredibly flavorful.

Yelp
Do not miss out on this gem of a restaurant! When a different restaurant left me hanging with 21 people ready to celebrate my birthday, I contacted Mezcal and within hours Adolfo came flying in like a super hero and provided accommodations within hours of contacting them. Mezcal looks small from the outside, but once you step in you'll see the "wow" factor. We were seating in an enclosed patio and it was perfect. That tree in the inside of the restaurant was pretty cool as well. The staff were so nice and very accommodating. They never missed a beat to keep all 21 of us content. The food! I wish I took pictures but believe me, everything we ordered was so good! I really did take a survey for this review and here is what we devoured- chicken quesadillas, corn tortilla with black beans and chicharron, guacamole and chips, steak, enchiladas negras and rojas, chicken flautas, salmon salad, carne asada tacos...Yummy! The drinks were refreshing and not too light or heavy on the alcohol. Tequila shots were served CHILLED. Just like they are supposed to be. Thank you again Adolfo and team! We had a blast and will be back soon!

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner and had a pretty standard meal. We ordered the salmon which had a lemon cream sauce and came with rice and veggies and we got the veggie enchiladas with a dark and smoky mole sauce. The salmon was cooked well and so were the veggies but the sauce they had was okay. The mole was delicious and the enchiladas weren't super heavy so anyone who's a fan of smoky flavors should order the dark mole and maybe an old fashioned made with their Mezcal! It was my friends birthday so the waiter brought out the dessert we ordered (the pecan ice cream wasn't great) but the brownie sundae was awesome.

Yelp
Food was a 4/10. Got the calamari and enchiladas. When my date asked for a spicy margarita the waiter said "are you sure about that" with a very serious face. My date said yes awkwardly, then that waiter carded her, handed back her card with the comment "you look 17". --we are both 26 about to be 27--. We could not determine if the comments were made because the waiter genuinely thought my date was 17 or because she is white. I've never experienced that before tbh. put the fries in the bag dawg. -- the crazy thing is he didn't even card me! Was it also cuz I'm Latino? The spicy margarita was good tho!

Crystal L.

Yelp
Okay Mexican food. Nice you get oaxacan flavors. Nice area with big space for happy hour. I got their pink lemonade but it was very watered down. For a place in dtsj it's decent. I like the atmosphere inside tho and you can rent out the hall like section

Yelp
Called to make a reservation on a Friday night and it was fast sitting at my arrival. Good salsa and chips offered. Also we ordered some chapulines (grasshoppers ) for appetizers. I drink some sangria that it was pretty good and the hubby ordered some mezcal who said it was very smooth too.main dish was oaxacan mole with chorizo very tasty and hisband ordered some mix plate with memelitas flautas and empanadas everything very good. Decoration very nice. Good for a romantic dinner.

JoAnn Y.

Yelp
We ordered enchiladas that were trying to be fajitas. The food was mediocre. The service was good. The chips were OK. It is close to Christmas in the Park, so convenience is the key to their success.

Lin S.

Yelp
This review is only for the memelitas, which deserves one. The tortillas shell was crispy at the bottom and chewy on top. The pork crackling provides the flavor that's well balanced by the black bean puree and cheese, so it doesn't taste too gamey or greasy. Rich in both flavor and texture. I'd come back just for this. We also ordered cocktails and quesadillas, which I thought was just ok.

Isobel P.

Yelp
As others have said, the guacamole is great and so is La Fresa, the strawberry margarita. After each getting one drink each, we ordered a pitcher because it was that delish! The strawberry purée was what sealed the deal for me. The guacamole was also very fresh and one gal I was with even said it was the best she has had. The chips were good too. For my main dish, I ordered the chicken flautas. They were good and came with mango slaw, rice, and more guacamole on the side. It didn't knock my socks off, but it was tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is beautiful and I love the tree in the middle of everything. The patio also looked perfect for the summer months. Parking is convenient in the 50 West garage that's just across the street from the restaurant.

Dalia V.

Yelp
This place is always delicious, hospitable, and fun. The vegan enchiladas are phenomenal (I love the veggies, "cheese", and sauce), and the drinks are sweet and refreshing. Food: 9/10, Drinks: 10/10, Service: 10/10, Ambiance: 8/10, Vegan-friendly: 7/10

Yelp
I recently visited this cute place and was quite impressed! They offer both indoor seating and a covered outdoor area. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures, but trust me, it's charming. The food was pretty good, and the service was great. The outdoor ambience is especially nice, making it a pleasant spot to dine. Overall, I would definitely come back here.

Mike S.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and this place was busy which was nice to see as this is the first time I have been back in the pandemic. Got seated right away and order the guacamole which was fresh and homemade (sorry for no pictures of it), but it came in a mortar and pestle which was cute. I then ordered the shrimp tacos which were good, just with they had a better tasting salsa or something bit hotter. overall service was good and the ambiance is an authentic feel, however parking can be tough as there is no street parking, only paid parking lots.

Ronesha J.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with a nice ambiance. I visited for an event but would definitely go back for a lunch or evening out. Very clean, the service was good and there is plenty of parking in the area. Cocktails were amazing.

Sui G.

Yelp
I'm a few weeks behind in this review, It was a last minute dinner meet up w the girls. Forgot it was Grad nite celebration but we were welcome in for dinner. First timer here and it was a nice experience. The sangria by far is the best! Our waiter was attentive and the restaurant had beautiful art throughout.

Luna D.

Yelp
The service was great! The food was not ...to be honest this is not a Mexican Restaurant...just the cover is Mexican...but the food is not.

Happy U.

Yelp
The ambience was good. The food was ok I guess. I ordered enchiladas with cheese and onion - as present on the menu with no changes. I was asked if I want sour cream on the side and I said yes. And was immediately asked if I was cheese on the inside and I said yes (because enchiladas have a filling and it does not make sense to have cheese on the side). What I was not informed was that the cheese was extra. I have never seen any enchiladas that did not have any filling so I did not occur to me that the cheese mentioned on the menu is different from the cheese referred to by the server. Are enchiladas without a filling even called enchiladas? As per Wikipedia - "a Mexican dish consisting of a corn tortilla rolled around a filling and covered with a savory sauce. " I thought that the server's question was sneaky and I did not like how I was tricked into it. If these do not come with a filling then the dish would contradict the name. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enchilada#:~:text=a%20Mexican%20dish%20consisting%20of%20a%20corn,filling%20and%20covered%20with%20a%20savory%20sauce.

Yelp
I work right across the street from this place and just recently went over to try it. Inside is really nice and a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Going around 1 on a Tuesday it was a lot busier than I would have expected but I took that as a good sign. They bring you chips and salsa and to start ordered the guacamole medium. There was zero spice at all and just tasted like mashed up avocados so that was disappointing. I got the tacos de pollo which came with 3 tacos with chopped grilled chicken, cilantro and onions. The tacos were delicious, they were overflowing with chicken so I had to eat some of it before I was able to lift and fold over my taco. Overall I thought it was a good lunch option, I would come back and try something else on the menu as they have a well varied selection.

Alexis V.

Yelp
Savory food that dance on your taste buds. Loved the incorporation of seafood in these Mexican dishes that I have not seen before. It is such a creative twist on what is typically well-loved, which I admire so much from this restaurant. I wish that the staff was more informative on how to order because it was not clear that it was a QR-code type of menu. We looked around our table and saw from another table that it was the way that we had to order as well as pay for the food. Staff introductions make the guests feel more welcome, so I hope that this is something that I get to see in my next visit, if I come here again and am around San José. Love the photo op moments with the murals and Christmas-like tree. Definitely brightens the aura of this restaurant.

Kemar D.

Yelp
Food was amazing service was excellent. We were seated immediately and it was a busy Friday night.

Brandon S.

Yelp
They put us on the front patio bc we had a dog and they forgot about us. We did not get to order entrees. Our drinks are dry and our Caesar salad is drenched in dressing. The menus are still here crowding us on the table. Went inside to pay the bill. No apologies.

Adrian L.

Yelp
Not very dog friendly, got sat outside and seems that we were forgotten!! Only got drinks and appetizers

Laura R.

Yelp
This place was a pleasant surprise! I didn't have high expectations based on some of the reviews. I made a reservation since we dined out for Father's Day and figured it would be busy. We parked at one of the lots nearby, about a block away. We got there and it was empty! Which made me worry about it being good. Only one family was eating and so many empty tables. Menu was pretty straightforward, lots of options. For an appetizer we ordered the grasshoppers. My husband liked them but I found them to be a little more on the salty side. They are served with a green salsa and some chips and tortillas. I ordered the salmon plate and enjoyed it! The creamy sauce was so tasty! The rice was delicious and well seasoned along with the broccolini. My husband ordered the Tlayuda and he enjoyed it, the meat was very tender and full of flavor. Server was very attentive and kind! I loved the outside patio, very spacious and the decor was unique. Bathrooms were very clean! Always a plus. We will definitely return!

Andy S.

Yelp
Service, restaurant, and food were bad and I do not recommend. The inside dining was reservation only so we had to sit outside which had heaters but was off. It took another 25 minutes of repeatedly asking to eventually get the heater to be on. They barely came out to our table and we constantly had to flag down a waiter. When we finally get out food it wasn't even what I ordered. Rather than enchiladas I got a stack of tortillas stuck together with red mole smothering it. The mole was terrible but might just be a me thing if I don't like mole. Oh and the meat additions to the plates are NOT good. The beef is a tiny slice of rubbery meat. The chorizo is still in sausage form! I've never been served chorizo that was served like this. It even had the inedible pieces tying the sausage. Finally to top it off they tried charging our table a 18% service fee. After looking at the menu it should only be charged for parties of 5 or more and we only had 4 people. I wonder how many people they are scamming by charging this fee unnecessarily. I had to go inside a few times to ask for boxes and remove the fee off the bill.

Kristine V.

Yelp
Came here to surprise my friend for her birthday. We had a table and the whole party was there but she was running late. The workers were nice and patient with us until she came. They were nice and friendly and even helped up give her, her cake. I wasn't really hungry, and wasn't feeling that well, so I just got a salad and it was an actually good tasting salad. It had shrimp and the dressing was light but perfect. I don't remember what the salad was called I just know it had shrimp (sorry) It was loud as any other place in DTSJ. They had a DJ in the other room with lots of people dancing. It was a vibe.

Sharon D.

Yelp
We came here for Valentine's day dinner. Ambiance as far as looks was cute. It was EXTREMELY cold inside. We were seated by the patio door which kept blowing cold air at us every time someone went through it. The guacamole was really good, drinks were ok. We chose this restaurant because they had a vegan option for me. I got the vegan enchiladas. They looked really good, but didn't taste that great. None of the vegan cheese was melted which made for a really weird texture. My partner got the chicken mole. He said the chicken and the sauce was good, but the rice was terrible. No vegan dessert option so we didn't get any. It looked like they had a really nice tequila and mezcal selection at the bar, but less than half of it was on the menu. So we really didn't know what to chose from or how much things were. Overall, I feel like this place is a lot of hype and is good for taking pictures in. The food and drinks are not the best, especially for vegans. This restaurant doesn't know how to regulate its temperature. So if it's cold outside, it's gonna be cold inside and I'm sure the same happens when it's hot outside, it's hot inside too. So be prepared for wearing your winter jacket inside or being too hot during the summer. I won't be giving it another try. Once was enough.

Yelp
Notable items: - Complimentary chips and guacamole were nice! - The chicken tacos (tacos de pollo) were SO GOOD!! The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and in small pieces, which made for great texture. The habanero pickled red onions had a great (very) spicy kick and crunch to them. The sauces included for the tacos were super flavorful. 10/10 I would order this again. It was also a good portion size, it was filling but not too filling. Just right. - My sibling ordered a salmon burger and it looked good. I tried some of the citrus mango slaw on the burger and it was sweet with a bit of a tart kick to it- it was great, I put some on my tacos. - The tortilla soup was very flavorful and creamy. Service: The staff was considerate, offering a non alcoholic drink option when we mentioned we don't drink alcohol. We were offered a tamarind mocktail that I don't think was on the menu, and it probably had tamarind jarritos soda from the taste. Pretty nice and paired well with the food that we ordered. Came with a tamarind candy stick and the drink was rimmed as well. Our waiter came by to ask how things were! Ambiance: Well lit, lots of seating, really interesting eye-catching decor! Overall good portion sizes, reasonable prices, great service, and good flavor. I usually am the biggest fan of Asian food (asian restaurants usually make up my "top 5 restaurants" list) but this has now become one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Tina M.

Yelp
One stop shop ! Very good food and drinks you won't be disappointed. Owner Adolfo and staff take good care of any customer that walks through the door . Hidden Gem in San Jose for sure !

Jerry Y.

Yelp
Pros: - Menu is great! Might sound strange, but the grasshoppers are one of the best appetizer dishes. It had a lot of flavor and went well with the sauce and chips. Must try for the adventurous. I also liked the shrimp and octopus appetizers then finished off w/ 3 carne asada tacos - Drink menu is outstanding. Full bar with really delicious drinks. The perfect margarita and mezcalrita were two favorites. - Lots of space! They have both an indoor and an extension patio area, so makes it good for big parties Cons: - Can be loud especially indoors. Found myself shouting at my guess - Can get busy, so suggest reservations - Service can be hit or miss depending on the waiter. There are times i had to wait a while before I can flag someone down to order another round of drinks. Overall - I would come back especially w/ a big party for a birthday or some celebration!

Wendy R.

Yelp
Welcoming and accommodating staff with great food and fast service. This is perfect for the weekday lunch rush. Portions are well sizes. Keep in mind that in Oaxacan cuisine, dishes tend to be on the sweeter side. Park in the parking garage across the street and have a great meal.

Derek S.

Yelp
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. Parking was available on the street, surface lots and/or nearby garages. Dining was available both indoors as well as on the covered heated patio. Staff were wearing masks. Started off with the chips, salsa, and guacamole and it was quite tasty. Guacamole seemed freshly made although it was slightly on the blander side. Had the steak quesadilla as an entrée and it was huge. I managed to finish most of it and was stuffed at the end. The quesadilla was stuffed with cheese and steak. In addition, the tortilla seemed to have a bit of cheese before placing on the grill as well. Staff throughout the evening were great coming by to refill waters.

Erica G.

Yelp
I've never been so torn from a Mexican Restaurant. I was at the light park in the middle of downtown and came by this place because I thought it looked pretty cool, but I saw the low ratings. So, I thought I would try it out for myself. Well, my fellow yelpers were somewhat right. This place has such an amazing look inside and really loved the ambience that this Hot little gem brings. However, the heart of it and the overall issue is, unfortunately, their food. Not good. And I am far from a picky eater. I even ended up ordering their chicken flautas just to be on the safe side and the dish just had no flavor and was not good. I did enjoy the decor and vibrant feeling this place offered! It's definitely a cool place to have some drinks and small plates.

Sara T.

Yelp
Not very impressed with this restaurant. I use to live in downtown and now work in downtown, so I definitely walked by this restaurant so many times and never tried it until now - that's like 10 years later lol. Well, I'm a little mixed between 3 or 4 stars but I think I'll stick with 3.5 and give it a second try in the future. I already knew the style of food was different and was interested in trying traditional oaxaca cuisine. I love complimentary chips and salsa, nothing special but it's free and perfect to snack on while you wait for the main dishes. For our entrees we ordered the enchiladas suizas with chicken ($19) - this was different because the meat is outside/on top of the tortilla. Very unique but it lacked flavor and chicken was dry. Slightly disappointed that it wasn't more tasty. Prbly try a different meat next time. We also ordered the chicken mole ($22) and this was definitely more flavorful and had a lot of mole sauce. Food was just ok and wasn't impressive or maybe I just ordered the wrong items. Average prices, too. However, service was amazing and our server Francisco was very friendly and attentive. I'll definitely return to give this place another try. Will order something different next time. Btw interior is beautiful with nice decorations and there's even patio seating with heaters!

Stephy H.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some drinks and catch the warriors game. We sat at the bar and were greeted right away. We ordered a margarita and the La fresa. The La fresa was SO GOOD! Made with real strawberries and it was one of the best cocktails I've tried! I loved it so much that I ordered a second one. Free chips and salsa. Calamari was good too. Prices are fair and their guac looked delicious! I need to come back and try more things on the menu.

Richard F.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice. The service was decent but I didn't like the response we got when we asked the waiter to divide the check. Sorry we forgot. Sorry to inconvenience you. If you like authentic Mexican food this is a good place to go. For me it was just a little too authentic and the food was a little on the cold side when it arrived.

Angelina A.

Yelp
The food was top tier, everything had just the right amount of seasoning and portions. The service was fast and efficient, friendly and the server was very charismatic As you enter the restaurant your engulfed In an experience of culture from the vibrant punting to the smells .

Robert C.

Yelp
Gorgeous interior not matched by food. Gorgeous glass partitions between indoor and outdoor areas. One of the most beautiful outdoor dining areas around. The $14 suizas with $5 added chicken resembled a disassembled enchilada, with flour tortilla, covered with rice and one onion, drowned in a pool of green tomatillo sauce, with cheese. Chicken on the bone right next to the tortilla. Got to drain the dish, cut up the chicken, remove the bone, and assemble the enchilada. The 3-flour tortilla are soaked through and have to be eaten with knife and fork. Not something to hold by hand. Wife was looking forward to the seabass, the only reason for coming here. Had to settle for Puerto prawns, six small-medium shrimp for $16, a poor value for an appetizer which was not filling. Wife had to mooch off my dish, to alleviate hunger pains. 20% off meals showing our Broadway San Jose theater tickets, another reason for coming here. Enchiladas start at $14. Add ons: chicken $5, beef $5, shrimp $8, cheese filling $3. Sneaky way of increasing prices with mandatory options. Like buying a new car and having to pay $400 extra for tires. They no longer serve seabass. They no longer give a discount for BSJ patrons. No reason to come here again. And you couldn't pay me to try the fried grasshoppers.

Vincent H.

Yelp
Drinks and food are great. The service is friendly and gives great suggestions. Overall welcoming establishment to visit.

Vania F.

Yelp
Awesome authentic Mexican cuisine spot. Foot was delicious and service was good. Waiter asked if we wanted " dessert, coffee...or tequila". Love it.

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Everyone once in a while I eat at a restaurant and I'm depressed -- not because the experience is disappointing. Quite the opposite. Because the experience is fantastic and I lament that I didn't go sooner. Mezcal is a beautiful space and has a large outdoor patio. The food is authentic to Oaxaca... Chips & Salsa: the chips are thick and crunchy. Not sure if they are home made but the salsa clearly is and is excellent. A kick from jalapeños but not too much to overpower the tomatoes. Free refills. Tortilla Soup: wow! Didn't expect much but this is packed with flavors, tender chicken and good crunch from the tortilla strips. Pulpa al grill: the mango slaw and salsa verde are nice compliments to the lightly grilled octopus. The chorizo kicks it up a bit. Mole Negro: this is a lighter mole sauce than many places with just a touch of smoke and sweet overtones. The maduros are excellent. For the adventurous eater, Mezcal serves fried grasshoppers, a common snack in Oaxaca. Mezcal Owner Adolfo Gomez is a welcoming host and is actively involved in the community. If you haven't been to Mezcal, don't make the same mistake that I've made and try it immediately.

Sendy T.

Yelp
This isn't your typical Mexican restaurant; Mezcal centralizes its palette and seasonings to authentic Oaxacan cuisine. If you're sensitive to spices, or have a knack for going "basic" at a Mexican restaurant, please move on. This is a go big, or vamonos spot. Everyone in Mexico makes mole different, I appreciate that. It gives someone a homemade taste based off their roots and family traditions. But this Oaxacan mole Their mole sauce is a little sweet and nutty, fully smoky, and smoother than room temperature butter. I've returned once too many times and I'll do it again.

Lisa W.

Yelp
I dine at Mezcal each year while at the San Jose Jazz Fest. I had a jalapeño margarita & scrumptious guacamole on Friday night & returned on Sunday with a party of 12. We were able to get a table large enough to accommodate us all and in a lovely outdoor patio with a nice breeze coming in. The decor here is cool and there's a DJ on Sundays playing some fun music. There are fantastic tequilas are on the menu. Happily, there are several menu options for vegetarians. Their salsa & house-made chips are fabulous....and complimentary with free refills. I enjoyed the blackened salmon salad- would have liked a few more toppings on it tho. My 3 year old grandson devoured their rice and quesadillas. The service was efficient- especially with our large party (and 5 kids) was appreciated. See you next year during the San Jose Jazz Fest!

Maira C.

Yelp
Their food is absolutely delicious! I have tried the mole, the quesadillas and the enchiladas. The service is superb, one of the best restaurants in San Jose.

Phong T.

Yelp
I found this restaurant while looking for a place to grab dinner before a show. The hostess was very quick to greet us after assisting the previous party. Since it was a Friday evening, they were only seating parties with reservations albeit there were several vacant tables. Luckily, we were offered bar seats and took them. SERVICE The bartender was great. Attentive and checked on my partner and I several times throughout our meal. INTERIOR Love the decor inside. A little bit of everything. To name a few: Dia De Los Muertos skeleton hanging above the entrance/exit. A faux tree in the center of the restaurant with a cool anatomical heart on its upper trunk. A huge painting of Frida Kahlo. BAR/STARTERS *Extensive list of drinks and very nice bar! My partner ordered a Manhattan initially but they didn't have Vermouth so the bartender couldn't make it. He proceeded to order a a Bourbon neat. *Several drink orders ahead of us so it took a minute but we were brought water + chips and salsa (complimentary). Chips were thick-cut and very crunchy. Good bite size. The salsa is delicious and has a kick! On the spicier side. ENTREES *Tacos de Asada: 3 mini white corn tortilla with steak, onions and cilantro. It was served with pickled onions, verde salsa, avocado purée, and lime wedges. The protein was bland and not well seasoned. The sauces helped finished the meal. *Enchiladas Coloradito: This entree was a miss. They probably should state that it's a deconstructed-modern take on enchiladas. The only thing that sorta saved this entree was the oaxacan mole. It had depth with sweet-earthy notes. However, it was missing spice. The white rice, cheese, and chicken were bland. I wish the chicken wasn't bone-in either. The enchilada tortilla were layered slices underneath the mole and protein. We came here for grubs and was disappointed in the food although the service was exceptional.

Rheina C.

Yelp
The food here is so good! The guacamole was super fresh but the only thing is we ordered medium spice level and it wasn't spicy at all. The calamari is some of the best calamari I've had. Also tried the new lemon pepper salmon and it was packed with flavor! The hostess was very kind. Our server was nice but didn't really tend to the table even though it wasn't really busy.

Alex M.

Yelp
The food was pretty decent - I really enjoyed the Torta the most. The chips and salsa were pretty good as was the appetizer and the crepes! But I just wish there were more portions to the crepe! The best part of the place was the atmosphere. This place looks so nice. It's definitely casual, but a very nice and almost hippie vibe nice. There is a huge tree in the center of the restaurant which is lighted with lights. Service was pretty good! It came when I needed it. Drinks were tasty (and strong) - an important combo Overall 4.5 stars

Yelp
Service was super rude, we would ask for extra things and they would never bring them, never once asked if we needed more water or drinks, waitress would pass by and mug us, when we were getting ready to leave she charged us 40% for a "tip" if u take 6 or more people, which we weren't aware of until we got the check, THEY ARE STEALING MONEY FROM PEOPLE, would not eat here again and i do not recommend it unless u want them to scam you, the food mas bland too.

Yelp
I had been here in past and everything was great . I came back raving about how good it was with 19 of my family members for my uncles birthday . Food was not the same by any means , dry no flavor , very little for the high price you pay .. Service was as horrible .. from waiter to greater they were not friendly nor did they have a good tone while speaking to anyone . Our bill was $638. And only my uncle was happy with salmon plate .. everything added extra cost , not a good experience at all .. I will not refer anyone anymore .

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars, but Mezcal deserves it! We had a margaritas! to celebrate my dad's 91st birthday at 5 pm for 15 people at another place, and they "lost" it. So, we ended up at Mezcal. The staff quickly put a table together for us. Our waiter was fabulous and took care of us. The food was delicious, and so were the matgaritas! I will definitely come back and I will never try going to the other place!

Yelp
Beautiful interior with its Mexican decor - Frida Kahlo on the walls, and we sat under a flowering tree. The menu QR code was on a little brown bag which you can use for your mask! So cute. So innovative. Loved its double use. We sat down and chips and salsa were served right away, along with a carafe of water. We ordered 2 cocktails right away. It took a while for them to arrive. They were pretty and they tasted good but I feel like I paid $14 for juice. Where's the tequila? Where's the alcohol? The service was slow! We got there at 6:30 and let the waiter know that we are seeing a show at 8pm. At 7:15, we had to ask the waiter to check on our order. Our food came out at 7:35! So we ate FAST! Paid FAST! (Had to ask for our Broadway San Jose discount) and ran to the Center of Performing Arts! We ordered: La Fresa Sangria Pulpo Al Grill - as my entree. Delicious. Very tasty and the chorizo was amazing! Tricolor Salad - nothing exciting. I was hoping for a colorful salad but it was bland and barely dressed for $8! Potato Flautas - beautifully plated. The potatoes inside were seasoned well but there was something missing. More sour cream? Sauce? For the price we paid I was expecting more. Overall it was okay.
