Chill out at this vibrant spot serving up housemade breakfast tacos, tasty drinks, and a cozy patio perfect for any meal of the day.
"The Cherrywood restaurant is a pillar for Tex-Mex in the neighborhood, offering massive burritos, sizzling chicken or steak fajitas, and perfect crispy tacos with picadillo. If that sounds good, any and all of it can also be ordered online. The cantina decor inside and on the multiple colorful outdoor patios, however, are half the reason to come here." - Erin Russell, Nadia Chaudhury
"On a sunny Sunday, you’ll most likely find us at Mi Madre’s during brunch on the patio double-fisting a couple of their enormous breakfast tacos. While they clock in around $4 or $5 each, two are more than enough (unless you just finished running a marathon, then okay maybe get three). The menu has 18 pre-set breakfast tacos, and our favorites are the #9 with homemade machacado and eggs (add cheese) and the #4 with black bean, egg, and cheese (add avocado). A couple of warnings: 1. The grackles on the patio are very hungry and want your leftovers, and 2. The tortilla chips here are very delicious and you will have to exercise restraint to not fill up on them before your tacos arrive. What to get: Machacado and egg; Black bean, egg, and cheese; Carne guisada. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"A Tex-Mex staple that’s been around since 1990, Mi Madre’s is not a fancy spot by any means, as the whole building kind of feels like it’s being held together by some duct tape and string lights. But there are two air-conditioned dining rooms and a small, comfortable patio populated by some hungry grackles who have very good taste. While Mi Madre’s is open for lunch and dinner, our favorite time to go is during brunch hours for the enormous breakfast tacos or breakfast plates like huevos rancheros and migas. "There are plenty of margaritas to be had at the Cherrywood Tex-Mex restaurant. The house one is available frozen or on the rocks, made with Paula’s Texas Orange and optional sangria swirl; then there’s a spicy-savory basil-serrano one or the sweet-tangy mango-Chamoy. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Kayleigh Hughes, Nadia Chaudhury
"This Tex-Mex restaurant is a Cherrywood classic, and the house-made machacado with pico and eggs is a great way to spice up the breakfast taco routine. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury
