The Best Restaurants In San Jose

"This food truck run by a husband-and-wife team serves popular street foods like bean-topped memelitas, red mole-dipped enmoladas, and crispy tlayudas. They’ve also got harder-to-find plates like yiki, a thick stew of red chiles and corn that’s cooked underground and topped with barbacoa. On Monday through Friday (and some Saturdays), the truck is posted up in a large parking lot beside a tax accountant for lunch and dinner. Grab it all to go, and check their Facebook page for location changes. " - shoshi parks

Google
Great quality Mexican food and plenty of options. 👍💯 Food was extremely fresh and very feeling and homey. 💯💆 Prices are a bit on the higher side but I would say it's still worth it. 💵 Food cost: $20

Google
I thought it was a restaurant, but it is a food truck, food was good

Google
Love the pollo taco, will definitely come back to try others.

Google
I ordered the quesabirria tacos, it was not the best I’ve had. The consome had little to no flavor, the tacos itself had almost to no cheese. It was $15.99 for three tacos which was on the pricey side. Would not recommend if looking for good quesabirria tacos.

Google
El Pastor super burrito is out of this world good. It varies from time to time but never disappoints, can be juicy "more amazing" but harder to free hand. Usually comes with spicy pepper and caramelized onions / radish Tacos are also amazing

Google
We love their food it's really Mexican

Google

Bomb carne asada burritos. Even distribution throughout. Each bite had the perfect ratio of everything. Already craving my next visit. Thanks guys. New truck that also takes credit cards.

Yelp
After playing some badminton on a Friday night, we wanted to get something to eat. One of our friends wanted tacos and we planned to go get tacos at this one food truck, but we passed by this one right as we were heading out on Story and decided to try this instead. This ended up being a great last minute decision. I wasn't really hungry as I had dinner already, but I still wanted to try their food. I got two tacos: asada and suadero. They have two types of tortillas: regular or hand-made. I went with the regular ones since they were cheaper, but I would be down to come back to try their hand-made ones. They also had cantaloupe juice, and since all my friends got one, I decided to try it as well. The food truck had a couple of tables set up with a canopy and a string of bright light bulbs. They also had a big tv on their truck, and they were playing some reality horror show or something. The cantaloupe juices came out pretty quickly and the food came out shortly after. I literally had tacos the night before, and although these tacos are a little more on the expensive side, I preferred them. They were warm and the tortillas held up well and weren't soggy. It was very straightforward with the protein, onions/cilantro on top, and lime/caramelized onions on the side. They also had sauces on the table in squeeze bottles which were mess-free and convenient. The cantaloupe juice was delicious! This was my first time trying it, and I was amazed. This was a great last-minute find. When we came, it was pretty empty, but towards the end when we were finishing up, it was poppin'. All the seats were taken and there were a lot more cars pulled into the parking lot. It seems to be a popular food truck for good reason. I hope to return again soon.

Yelp
I tried this spot today, I'm impressed on how good the food it taste, just that homemade and authentic flavor that it's hard to find nowadays in a food place , highly recommended and the cashier was really friendly, I'll be back for more!!! Thank you so much for your work guys, you're doing amazing and please don't change this flavors. Because most places when they get praise they go downhill. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Yelp
We heard this place was good and it did not disappoint. AND it's around the corner from where we live which makes it extra dangerous. The food is amazing. On our first visit the two of us demolished the tlayuda in one sitting. Today it was tacos - brisket, carnitas, chicken, chorizo. OMG - delicious and a bargain at $3.25 each. Just for context our most recent tacos were eaten in CDMX where al pastor was invented so I don't take the endorsement lightly! Also providing a pic of the menu as a community service. And to address the 1 star reviews: clearly they didn't understand this is a food truck.

Yelp
Writing this review for others to look out and watch for their health & safety. We went to buy food from this place 03/22 to go- I saw it had good reviews so we decided it give it a shot. Got some tacos, burrito, quesadilla and huarache mixteco (mixed meats on it) overall food was ok, 5/10 the burrito was dry and they forgot to add sour cream which I asked for. The biggest issue was couple hours later after my meal- I got abdomen pains, headache, chills and diarrhea. It's the second day since and I'm still trying to recover. I've had diarrhea since Friday (Sunday today) and my stomach aches have not gone away. I'm going to have to go to the ER or something of this continues by tomorrow. Make sure you follow all good safety guidelines to prevent this from happening again. Service was below average, ambiance was ok. We for sure will not be coming back to this place. Below is pic of date and food purchase

Yelp
Stopped by here again today because I love myself. I had the mango agua fresa and it was so refreshing and not overly sweet. It's fresh mango, I just know it is. I had tacos again and I think the carnitas are my favorite. Oh! They also have a green sauce that I have not tried yet, but will next time. The sauce I was talking about in my last review is red, and it is The Sauce of Life!

Yelp
Amazing authentic flavor. Our new go to spot for lunch when I am in San José. Service was pretty quick. It is a little on the pricier side.

Yelp
Came here for dinner. It is directly across the street from Tostadas. I felt like we were cheating on them. Saw so much about the tlayuda and was determined to try it. Of course when I got there I had to order more. I ordered a chicken quesadilla for myself, too. Gavin, forever burrito lover so he stuck w/ that. I did not try it but based on its picture the burrito was loaded, the rice, chicken, and beans were nicely distributed. The tlayuda is not something I enjoyed. Maybe the crunchy tortilla or the meats were very salty and dry... but the bean paste and cheese was delicious. The highlight of my meal was their chicken quesadilla. Absolutely delicious and tasty! Friendly service and beware as there is always a line. They accept cards and have one table in front of their truck if you want to sit while you wait for your order or if you want to enjoy your meal there. I'm not a fan of outdoor dining due to the hot sun or wind so we took ours home to enjoy. They accept cards! Parking can be a hassle too because the gas station that they're stationed at does not have optimal space.

Yelp
4.5 stars Regarding my food experiences, I found that it is not better to have loved & lost than to not have loved at all. At an event in San Jose's History Park, I stopped by Mi Rinconcito Oaxaqueño's food truck & ordered two Picaditas (I've seen them called Sopes before.) Had I known I'd enjoy them as much as I did, I would've bought a few more to bring home because the next day, I had a serious hankering for them & my only options were to drive 50 miles to San Jo or settle for mediocre imitations closer to me. There was perfection in its simplicity -- disks of thick, homemade tortillas topped with onions, spicy red salsa, & fresh cheese. Of course you can choose green salsa & to top it with meat, but the way I ordered it was 100% right in my book. Delicious ingredients & nothing else. BF ordered Entomatadas, which looked like enchiladas served with a thin steak, as well as Quesobirrias. How do I get Mi Rinconcito Oaxaqueno in my rotation without spending a grip on gas money every time I have a craving?!

Yelp
Had Memelitas for the first time here... life changing! I thought their tacos were amazing, but this topped it. Hands down 10/10

Yelp
My first time having Oaxacan cuisine and it did not disappoint My sister LOVES Oaxacan food and she was in town and saw this food truck so we ventured over for a late lunch. The line to order wasn't long, one person in front of us, so we looked at the menu to try to decide what to get then it was our turn. Staff was super friendly and helpful with what to order I ordered Memelitas with steak and my sister got the Enmoladas plus a Lemonade and Mango juice The Memelitas were delicious - flavorful and delicate but yet so hearty The steak that came with it was seasoned perfectly and rounded out the dish The Enmoladas were definitely heavier, but the flavors were rich and tasty The piece of chicken was delicious, especially with the sauce The juice was tasty and refreshing, kept us busy while we waited for our lunch to come out. There are two tables out front, we sat family style with the other customers while we waited. We chose to eat there as we were hungry and there was space at the table. Will definitely go back and try to some items as there was so much that I wanted to order.

Yelp
Must have local authentic Mexican food spot! Don't let the food truck deter you they have the best and freshest ingredients. Tacos are fire! Burritos top notch! Keep up the great work!

Glann V.

Yelp
I ordered the entomatadas and they were super delicious!!! Relatively quick and very friendly service too. I'm so happy that more people will be able to experience good Oaxacan food My only recommendation would be to get a space heater for the seating area now that the colder weather is arriving, and please include a napkin with the togo orders! * After reading some other comments... I wanted to add that while the food can seem pricey, they were very generous portions and if I had any self restraint my plate could have easily fed two people :) but you can't restrain yourself!! Because it's so yummy!!

Jack T.

Yelp
this place is fantastic, the food is smacking and I have never had a bad meal. Sure it might take a little longer than some taco trucks and they are priced higher than most, but let's be real here, I would rather pay a little more and wait a little longer for food this good. The Tlayuda is incredible, a crispy tortilla the size of a medium pizza is smeared with a black bean puree and heavy coated in Oaxaca cheese with thick slices of avocado and tomato. There are several different types of delicious meats ranging from al pastor to carne seca, which can easily feed 3 to 4 people. The memolitos are fantastic and packed with flavor. The people are friendly and the food is authentic and amazing, I would highly recommend it.

Yelp
So glad we stumbled upon this spot!! We were looking for tacos and saw this one so decided to try it. Quick and friendly service and delicious tacos. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Stopped here to grab some while getting gas next door. They were out of the first 2 items I wanted so I asked what the friendly young man helping me recommended. My S/O and I shared a carne torta, 2 chicken tacos and 2 carne tacos. I was really excited to be given the option of hand made corn tortillas!! The food was phenomenal, the torta was huge with big whole pieces of carne, well seasoned and not fatty. There was avacado, cheese and beans in every bite. I liked the chicken tacos more than the carne as there was more filling in them. The tortillas were light, fluffy and very fresh, everything helps together well. I also asked for their hottest salsa and it did not disappoint. We are definitely coming back to this gem!!!'

Yelp
I was craving Oaxacan food and found this listed as a restaurant on my Doordash app. Sometimes Oaxacan places can be a hit or miss for me, but this place was definitely a hit! I ordered the Memelita which is a toasted/fried homemade corn tortilla topped with black bean paste, grilled onions, well-seasoned tender carne asada and cotija w/ radishes on the side. It's similar to sopes, but prefer these bad boys over them! The 5 Stars goes to the yummy Memelitas! I'll definitely go back to try out more food items!
google avatar

Izzy M.

Yelp
Entomatadas with a side of Cecina (lightly- salted-aged, thin steak) and salad; was very deliciously satisfying! They're somewhat similar to enchiladas, the primary difference being its tomato-based sauce, as opposed to a chili pepper sauce. My son had a tasty looking, regular burrito (less the rice) it was large and evenly filled with beans and steak. My husband ordered the Steak torta and he said, it was as good, if not better than the torta at "Mexico Bakery". We will definitely be back to eat what we just ordered, in addition to their other Oaxaqueño specialties...
google avatar

Yelp
One of best handmade tortillas for tacos and sopes ever ! If you get a change come and give it try . You won't be disappointed. The ladies ( mom and daughter) are very friendly and hardworking. Their homemade salsa is awesome too.

Yelp
Really good tacos. I ordered Al pastor and they were tasty and the ingredients were fresh. $7.50 for 3.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
One of our favorite spots for Mexican Street food. Highly recommend their crane asada (beef) or carnitas tacos. If you want some deeper fried goodness, tri their Empanaditas (meat and cheese wrapped in a fried reptilian, fresh cheese, lettuce and cream on top. Ok getting hungry and I think they're closed. Good variety on drinks. Depending on the day there's a mix of horchata, melon, passion fruit, mango, or pineapple. All are good choices.

Yelp
Food is delicious! We tried the Tlayuda for the first time and it was a HUGE surprise (see picture). The girl that helped us was very nice. We will definitely be coming back

Mr D.

Yelp
Went to location. Truck not here 11am and nobody answers phone. A small tamale cart on the corner.
google avatar

Johnathan D.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best al pastor tacos I've eaten in my life. Yeah, I know that's a bold statement. I'm not kidding and I don't take it back. 9.3/10.
google avatar

Chino P.

Yelp
Ordered on DoorDash. App says food was ready for pickup. Young man at the counter claimed that they never received an order. After some discussion, it was apparent that they did receive the order, but they cancelled it on their end. After arguing whose fault it was, the young man never offered to take the order right there and then, instead proceeded to tell me about that it will "take a long time" and had a completely petulant attitude about it. In the end, I said he didn't seem like he wanted to take my order at all and I walked away, while he yelled "go ahead!" What a childish person.
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem. The carne asada tacos are delicious. PROS: Yummy handmade tortilla that don't have that gross strong packaged corn taste. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful carne asada. Best carne asada tacos I have eaten. CONS: Once, the meat wasn't as flavorful. Maybe it was just an off day. They don't give enough lime. And when you ask, they are pretty stingy with it. Like I love lime. Just give me some more lime, like damn. LOL. Overall though, great taco truck. 10/10
google avatar

Kasio V.

Yelp
Best Carne Asada Tacos I've ever had in San Jose. Order the tacos with handmade tortilla and you will experience the best tacos in the bay area. The Tacos where so good it tasted better without the salsa they provide outside of the truck.

Jose F.

Yelp
one of the best tortitas I've ever has this Laplace is fire. They also have chairs you can sit out side. Plus they fresh aguas are also very yummy if you are near and are looking for some good Mexican food this is the spot. Definitely combing back
google avatar

Dixie B.

Yelp
What a surprise!! Fresh food thrown down in the parking lot of a gas station?! YASS! The food is incredibly fresh and super tasty. Not overly seasoned. Well crafted. Stumbled on an order of Empanadas (chicken and beef) and just one bite sold me completely. The toppings were crisp. I. Annoy wait to try the rest of their menu.
google avatar

P C.

Yelp
Amazingggggg truly amazing season sooo goood!!!! I will come here any time sopes are really good and big Tacos too very delicious!
google avatar

Abril L.

Yelp
It was good but the price was little higher and sometimes the menu doesn't comes with price and that's no

Isabel R.

Yelp
Best food ever! They have so many choices to pick from. I think the best part is that it's all strictly traditional Mexican food that is not sold in many Mexican restaurants in San Jose. Very unique, very tasteful. And the Tlayuda- my god it's so great. Not a long wait time too.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Amazing al pastor tacos! And other tastiness. Ordered the pizza like dish as well. Best taco truck in Midtown!
