Yelp
A standalone anchored building in an area of transition. You wouldn't know you were entering into a nice restaurant. It is decorated nice and clean. Orange with pops of color and brushed (?) brass lighting throughout. Not overly decorated, just enough for your eyes.
You are warmly greeted and seated quickly. Waitstaff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
What we ordered:
Queso is smooth and cheesy, nice flavor.
Salsa comes out hot, dark, flavorful. Smoky with a hint of tanginess. Not spicy. (I could have used a little heat, but that's just me). It's not over spiced.
Chili rellenos is very good. Chef made it with just cheese, my preference. The rice has little to be desired. No flavor, just a little coloring. It is perfectly cooked.
The other side I got was the crispy potatoes with chorizo. Not what I was expecting. (WH72's was my thinking). It's good. Just know the chorizo is ground with bell peppers & onions and diced potatoes. For me, add eggs and a tortilla and you have a breakfast taco. (We took the leftover of this and it's exactly what the kids had for breakfast next day).
The refried beans are black beans (they are thick and heavy). So if you have kids that prefer pinto, find an alternate. Thankfully, most of my crew likes black refried beans, so it worked out. Ha!
Chicken fajitas cooked just right. Juicy and seasoned well.
Charro beans to us, were a little under seasoned, however, the beans are cooked and they did have good flavor.
The boys who ordered the ribeye (on steak night) didn't leave any behind. The ribeyes were tender, nice cut & great flavor.
Beef fajita enchiladas were tender and flavorful. A mixture of cubed and shredded beef.
We certainly plan to go back and try other items on the menu. My next choice will be the fried whole fish. I can't wait!
Martin, you and your staff are doing great; it was good to meet you.
