"If you’re looking to try a newer Cubano contender in the neighborhood, check out Mi Salsa Kitchen. Their roll isn’t quite as crusty as Cibao’s, but the pork shoulder is just as tender and stringy and tastes great in the mess of pickles and thinly sliced ham. I know my colleagues down at Infatuation Miami might give me a hard time for this, but the Cubano is only improved with a dip or dollop of some of Mi Salsa’s other sauces - specifically the chimichurri or the mojo pickled onion-loaded criollo." - carlo mantuano

I had an incredible time at Maria pasteles cooking class! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect environment to learn and have fun. The hands-on instructions were easy to follow, and I truly appreciated how knowledgeable and patient Mia was. We didn’t just learn to cook; we got to enjoy a delicious meal paired with drinks that made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The balance of cooking, eating, and socializing created a memorable experience that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to immerse themselves in culinary culture. I left feeling inspired and with a new appreciation for my Puerto Rican heritage.

I took the Boricua Basics class, and what an amazing experience. Maria is an excellent teacher, weaving in stories about her family and Puerto Rican history. The class is easy and engaging and I got to bring home the sofrito, garlic paste, garlic sauce, and sazón we made in class. After our hard work, there was delicious food - arroz con pollo y maduros and un limber de coco 😋 10/10 would recommend her class. I will definitely be coming again!

Best bacalaitos I've ever had - even than on the island. Sooooooo good! Perfect size, texture, and flavor. I love when I run into her kiosk at festivals and street fairs.

What a heart-warming and wonderful experience with the Puerto Rican Pasteles cooking class. Maria immediately draws you in with her vibrant personality, hospitality, culinary expertise and knowledge of the history behind the origins of these Boricua staples and traditions. She reminds me of the resilient maternal figures in our lives. I would highly recommend this class and her other classes for anyone looking to either learn something new or tap into your heritage and roots.

We are two grooms that recently got married in Brooklyn, NY. While we recognize most processes aren't made for our type of wedding, Maria Bido and her team always made sure we felt taken care of. We chose to go an unconventional route for a wedding caterer so we could focus on an entire Puerto Rican menu that was also fully gluten free due to an allergy. We met Maria at the 116th Street Festival through instagram and fell in love with her food. She remained flexible as the menu was confirmed and adjusted recipes to match our allergies while maintaining flavor and ensuring our guests would have an amazing experience. After encountering rain on our wedding day, the food had a huge part in saving the day for not only ourselves but our guests. We also had a TON of food to take home which was beautifully packed and taken care of by them. Couldn't have done it without her and her team. Thank you.

Mia's "Postres de Navidad" class was an absolute delight! Not only did she guide us through the recipes with expertise and passion, but the homey ambiance added a special touch that made it truly special. We're already eagerly anticipating the next one!
