Miceli's Italian Restaurant

Our experience was excellent! My son and I dined here and, because we had a late lunch and saw that the portions were huge, we asked to share an appetizer and an entree. Some waiters tend to look disappointed and even annoyed when a table orders one entree but our server was so nice and offered to split it onto two plates for us. The food was GREAT and the portions were perfect when we shared. The restaurant has so much character and, although completely full, wasn't so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. The singing waiters are incredibly entertaining but, again, not so loud that everything stops when they start.

Great atmosphere and service, however not a fan of the food or drinks. We are huge Italian food fans and for the price you can eat at much tastier places. My husband got a rigatoni dish and it tasted just like spaghettios, no joke. Like I said very cool atmosphere, but I would not consider this fine dining by a long shot.

Amazing! Beautiful old school Italian restaurant. Service is great. Atmosphere is lovely! I had 1/2 spaghetti and 1/2 ravioli. The spaghetti was great, but the ravioli (with meat) was the best I’ve ever had! I cannot wait to go back for more! My bf had Aunt Angie’s Orginal lasagna and also LOVED it! We split a the Uncle Frank’s tiramisu, which was also great! Thank you for being just soooo good!

First time here. Always heard of this place, So glad we took the time to enjoy this place. Everything about it was classic and so well done. Can't wait to go back

A well known Hollywood institution, my friend used to come here 40 years ago. I loved it immediately because you can feel the history and the moody ambiance is fun and atmospheric. The service is good , prices reasonable and the food delicious,. We had fried zucchini ( deep fried zucchini fritters), spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread and lasagne. Everything was delicious but pretty rich ( the garlic bread large slices of doughy deliciousness). Only fault is that the meatballs, marinara and lasagne had a lot of garlic. I understand, being Italian , this is expected but it was almost overkill ..Overall, I loved it. Recommend .

Came here for first time, had heard the food was good. The inside of restaurant is pretty cool. Was seated quickly, server was polite and friendly. Ordered drinks and appetizers along with a pizza we decided to get for dinner. The appetizers came out in timely fashion, and were amazing, the meatballs were juicy and seasoned well, the bread was dense and cheesy, both very good. Our pizza for some reason took an hour to come out, which honestly wouldn't have been a big deal if our server had told us what was going on, if a mistake was made, that happens, we would have understood, but no communication. Lucky for us the apps were so good we were pretty full, lol, the restaurant did give us the pizza for free, which they didn't need to do, but was an awesome gesture. The pizza was worth the wait, probably 1 of the best ive had in a long time. Definitely would recommend this place and will be back again soon.

Fantastic food - great ambiance in a traditional Italian restaurant. If your looking for the perfect meal, candles (LED) on the tables and live piano and waitstaff that sings too, this is a must stop, family owned, local eatery. Service was adequate, but a bit slow at times (took nearly 10 mins for first contact from our waitress). Still, if we lived in this area, this would be a regular place for us, no doubt about it.

This place just screams fun. Walking in is like stepping back in time. Looking up, you wonder if this is a Hollywood prop or did someone drink that much Chianti. The sound of piano hits you as you step inside. And for the lover of movies or stage, you'll recognize the tunes. And stick around long enough, the staff may pick up a microphone and sing a tune. The food is definitely shareable, so choose wisely. The Pizza options are good for families, and the salads are just too large for one person. The lasagne is good and hearty while the chicken lasagne disappeared from my friends plate too quickly for me to even attempt a taste. While I only gave the food 3 stars, it isn't because it's bad, but it doesn't stand out. But if you are in Hollywood and have a group of people to feed, this is a terrific place. You get good food, an amazing atmosphere and possibly a show all for a reasonable price.

Ambiance was very settle it very much fitted the theme of the restaurant, Service was nice we had this male waiter and he was so nice to us. Not to mention the design and atmosphere this place gave off was absolutely nice there was even music that was low that fit the theme Food was sooo good but took quite a while which is understandable but it took like 10 minutes max, would totally come back here!

How have I not written a review for Miceli's yet? This is one of my favorite places in Hollywood to grab some lunch. It's a neat little old school Italian restaurant. They have traditional Italian food, and pizza. Another thing that's unique about michelli's is that their servers and some of their staff will occasionally sing in the dining room. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and it's a nice little place to stop and check out and have a bite to eat. The pizza is pretty good, it's not the best pizza in the world, but it's certainly not bad. Like I said, very good pizza. They also have other entree Italian food dishes. I've had the manicotti on several occasions it's very good. I've never had anyone complain about the quality of the food that they got here. The tiramisu is also at especially good treat. The only downside to this location is that it's difficult to find parking, without having to pay a lot. But, if you're already in the area and are looking for a nice place with some good atmosphere to have a pizza, I can't recommend this place enough.

100% recommended. I came here with my family for our first time. We loved the food, the vibe, the live music and the fact that all the waiters and waitresses were singers. If you haven't been here, and you're thinking about trying this place out, do it! Side note: Our waitress, Avella, was awesome, props to her.

The food is slightly better than Chef Boyardee, but not quite as good as Pizza Hut. I expected it to be low-grade tourist fare and was not disappointed. If you like to spend way too much money for food about as good as what you could get from a Stouffer's entrée at your supermarket, this is your place. Frank Sinatra is weeping.

No. No and no! The food needs more flavor. The piano player was pathetic. They need more life in this place. The only nice was hearing the waiter sinning.

Absolutely phenomenal, one of a kind atmosphere! The pizza is the best I've ever had, quick service. Will go back, no doubt.

Miceli's is classic Italian fare served in classic Hollywood style. Great service, great food, great drinks and the decor is almost like going to an Italian restaurant if it was conceived by Disney. Just a true classic. What more can I say? It is just great and reasonably-priced. Whether you are a tourist or a local, Miceli's always delivers. One of my all-time favorite Italian restaurants with no pretension and just great basic Italian food the way it was meant to be!

A Hollywood icon and landmark. The dream of the classic Italian restaurant of your imagination with dark wood carvings, checkered tablecloths and a billion Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling. The live pianist on the mezzanine is just magical and he's joined onstage by the occasional server, who all seem to be professional singers. The red sauce Italian is very good, but there is no food on Earth that can compare with the incredible atmosphere and overwhelming nostalgia of Miceli's.

Some of the best restaurant service I've experienced. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. Decor Old school American Italian restaurant service I've. Dark, warm, and ornate. Very cool. Food was great; old Italian Americana. Pastas and meats shine. I ordered vermicelli with meat sauce and meatballs. Fantastic. Their pizza wasn't anything to write home about. Would come back and look forward to it.

4.5 stars. Amazing and unique decor in this classic L.A. Italian restaurant, featuring three or four levels of seating. Cocktails and Chicken Parm sandwiches were a fine introduction to the lunch menu. Plan to return later one evening to catch the piano player in action.

This place has been here since the 40's and it's supposed to be the first Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Hollywood/Los Angeles. I have always wanted to try it out! I honestly came here not expecting much, it was more for the experience but I was completely shocked at actually how bad this was. The pizza was probably the worst pizza I've ever had and I'm not exaggerating. I think I have made better pizza with store bought dough. The meat tasted old, veggies were crunchy and raw, the dough was borderline undercooked. It was so horrible, I'd rather eat little Cesar's pizza. We also got chicken Milanese which didn't taste like anything and vodka pasta which also tasted like a little heavy cream was splashed into existing marinara. It was not good, but the pasta was al dente I'll give them that. So many oddities during our visit. We ordered a bottle of wine and was shocked when the cork was popped off and it was just left on the table. No taste, no pour, nothing. Old fashioned was poured into a wine glass. Never seen that before. The bathrooms are gross and had no hand soap. Server decided to add 20% tip himself and adjusted the bill with writing in pen, this was so shocking and I have never seen this before. I wanted to say something but I was with a large group and didn't have the energy or desire to make an uncomfortable scene. Funny thing is we would've left 20%...but this just didn't sit right with me. We were under the impression there would be singing carolers but that was not the case, no big deal at least there was a piano player... I think this place used to have a vibe at some point but now it's just an old run down restaurant with overpriced bland food and the weirdest people if I'm being honest. Felt like we were in a twilight zone. I would not return or send my worst enemy to dine here.

Very nicely decorated. Ordered lasagna and it was among the best I've ever had. Sauce was rich and not too sweet. Good service. Great experience.

Miceli's is a family tradition for us. When my dad was a struggling college kid in 1961, he brought my mom here on their first fancy romantic date. Dad wanted to impress her, and I guess it worked, because they got married in 1962, and I was born 15 months after that. You could say I owe my life to Miceli's! Over the years, Mom and Dad would come to Miceli's to celebrate their anniversary or a birthday, and the experience continued to be memorable and magical. Mom is no longer with us, but my husband and I decided last year to keep the tradition alive, and last year and this year we brought Dad to Miceli's to celebrate their anniversary. Still memorable and wonderful! The food, the music, the ambience, the drinks -- everything is wonderful. We've been lucky enough to be greeted by Frank Miceli each time we've brought Dad. Frank's love for the restaurant is evident, and it's infectious. His parents started the restaurant together in 1949, decorating the walls and ceilings with campy Chianti bottles, booths rescued from the famous Pig 'n' Whistle, and lovely carved woodwork and stained glass accents throughout. We ordered calamari and antipasto for starters, and a rye Old fashioned for my husband and an Italian 75 for me. The drinks were a generous size, and potent and flavorful. Calamari was tender, served as rings with very little breading, light garlic, lemon wedges, and a fresh marinara sauce on the side. Antipasto was simple with a nice mix of roasted red pepper, salami, cheese, fresh tomato, lettuce, peperoncini, olives, and a light dressing. Both were a decent amount of food for the three of us. For the mains, I had shrimp scampi. Served on a bed of al dente vermicelli in white wine sauce, the shrimp were succulent and abundant, popping out of their tails with little effort. The pasta was nicely seasoned, and was a generous portion. My husband had the carbonara -- also a generous portion with perfectly cooked fettuccini, rustic-sliced thick bacon, and a sauce that wasn't thick or greasy, allowing the flavors to come through. Dad had the baked mostaccioli, and his dish may have been the best of all 3 for its authenticity and flavor: al dente mostaccioli filled with delicious meat and sauce, the perfect balance of fennel and spices to really make the tomato base POP and wake up the senses. We really enjoyed our meals! We saved room for an affogato and a slice of cheese cake, both winners! Throughout the meal, we were well-cared for by our server, and the piano music was playful and wonderful, two of the wait staff sang several times -- hitting the high notes with confidence -- and the vibe in the restaurant was wonderful. Frank came by to check on us personally a couple of times and shared more stories of his family history going back to Palermo, and he was eager to hear more about us, too. After a leisurely two hour dinner and drinks, we bade our farewells, and are already looking forward to next time. Miceli's is a place that makes magic. It makes memories that last a lifetime. Miceli's is an important part of our family history, and of L.A. history. I hope our daughters and their families will also continue the tradition of experiencing this kind of magic. I truly hope the next generation of the Miceli family knows how special this place is, and the deep and lasting love that touches so many people, and that they are waiting in the wings to take the reins one day.

The live piano pushed it into 4 star range. Pizza was amazing and I don't like pizza. Lol The rolls fresh out of the oven are spectacular and you could eat them all day! Chicken Parmigiana was ok. Sauces was rich and deep. Pasta was done. The chicken was not the best cut of meat. Drinks were yummy. Service was attentive and genuinely nice. She took care of us quickly and efficiently and with a great smile. Definitely a nice little surprise off from Hollywood Blvd.

The original Miceli's s is an old world Italian Resturant in Hollywood just south of Hollywood Boulevard on Las Palmas. They have a parking lot that they share which is about two doors down from the restaurant on the same side of the street. I paid 15 dollars and received 11 back after validation. They have pizza and eggplant and lasagna ( one of the best dishes ) and if you come after 6 your entertainment may also be your waitstaff. You will enjoy singing and piano music. The restaurant is on multiple levels and was built long before ADA so you may need to walk upstairs to use the restroom. When you walk I. You will notice years of hanging wine bottles and you will feel you have privacy at your own table. This is about .5 miles from the Pantages Theater so it's a great spot before the show. Portions are large so bring along a cooler for putting your leftovers in the car. Also if you like garlic make sure to share a Caesar salad with the table. I can not speak to dessert because I never have room. If you have out of town guess it a great spot to eat and then walk the stars.

John was our waiter and he was great! Some people would dry heave walking into this place, but I love it and you have seen it in your favorite LA based tv shows. Had a Negroni at the bar and then grabbed a table, I made a reservation but I was told seats are always available. Walking to Hollywood Bowl, going to Pantages... this could be your spot! Huge parking lot15$ or less with validation. Food was tasty, had bruschetta, house pizza and a lasagna, probably the best way to try a new Italian place. Sit by the piano!

Go for the complete experience of it! So much history fills the air. It's like stepping through time. You expect to see Frank Sinatra or some starlet sitting near by. Can imagine a mafia meeting in the upper room. Who even knows what went on in the lower level! So many menu options, but had to get the pizza, and so glad I did! Fantastic FULL bar. Enjoy The architecture, artwork, ornate ceiling, so much for the eyes and the appetite! Live piano music sets the mood.

The server was slow to arrive, was non-apologetic about the many rules for how much each person has to order despite someone in our group not feeling well (other rules were fees for no split checks, $20 minimum per person, etc etc). The sink was broken in the men's room. An order was incorrect (antipasto salad instead of Ceaser) and the rest of the entrees were not brought out until the others were half done with their food. Then he seemed to remember he was working for a tip and became friendly.

Been coming here for over 20 years and the food and ambiance never disappoints. Waiters are on top of you with their service making sure they serve you well too! Miguel served us last week and did not disappoint! Thank you Miguel!!!

I thought Miceli's was pretty good. the Small pizza was around 30$ which is slightly outrageous even for hollywood blvd in my opinion. the pizza however was very good and crust was nice and crispy! No one was dining in this massive place which was a bit peculiar. Service was 2/5 but we were really only there for the food.

Came here on a Wednesday night and was seated right away. This quaint restaurant feels like an old school Italian spot from the eighties. Our server was friendly and attentive. Ambiance is great for an intimate date night or dinner out with friends. We enjoyed the tossed green salad, Caesar salad and chicken lasagna with a meatball. The salads were average and the lasagna was ok, had more sauce and cheese than noodles. The meatball was a bit bland but still decent. Overall we enjoyed a pleasant dining experience.

Really was looking forward to visiting. Will come another time - prayers everyone at your place is safe.

I ate here for the first time recently, and it was such a disappointment. Because of the touristy area, I wasn't expecting the food to be great. But it went way beyond that. Here's what we got: Cheese ravioli with pesto: the ravioli itself was tender and flavorful. The pesto sauce was just some mashed up basil that had turned almost black with oxidation. It did not taste fresh. It cost $23 for 6 ravioli. 3/5. Lasagna: again, small portion for the price, the sauce was very one dimensional. Lacked flavor. 2/5. Antipasto salad: mostly iceberg lettuce with a few chunks of goodness here and there. I liked the little pieces of fried eggplant. Super expensive and barely worth eating. 2/5. Tiramisu: way too sweet. Not bad but tiramisu is kind of hard to mess up. 2/5. My husband also got the world's smallest espresso shot ($6). He said it wasn't very good. The waiter tacked on a 20% tip for himself even though there were only 3 of us. The service was good so I would have tipped that amount anyway. But it was still annoying. TLDR: one of the worst meals I've had in LA

Miceli is Hollywood's oldest Italian ristorante as told by our friendly, soft spoken, understated yet helpful waiter who was great.  Loved the overwrought, hackneyed, trite, pan Italian décor at Micelli. It's the idealized American vision of what an old school Italian restaurant should be. In some ways, it reminded me of the Cellar restaurant at the Del Sol Hotel in Fullerton, California or Le Petit Château in North Hollywood（rip） where reality is suspended if only for an evening. Food as expected was just ok.  I feel that you come to Miceli to experience the charm of the overlaid layers of kitsch and rococo-like complexity with hanging woven basket Chianti bottles everywhere. The various dining areas are multi-leveled from up on high to the basement below.   1）Ordered the large Miceli Special Pizza. Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Meatball, Salami, Onion, Green Bellpepper, Button mushroom and good amount of molten Mozzarella cheese.   Tomato Salsa tasted mostly of oregano and garlic. Crust is thin, no real yeasty scent. Bit sweet, drier texture yet a bit gummy as one keeps chewing.  The vegetable toppings are al dente and not cooked through so they add a refreshing vegetal, watery crunchiness to contrast to all the meat, fat, carbs.   This pizza is big enough for 4 people which is a good deal. Not the best pizza in L. A., but good enough.  2  Lasagna comes out like Vesuvius, bubbling, angry red, hot. Mozzarella on top is molten. The flat, thick pasta sheets are interspersed with Ricotta and Romano cheeses and a beefy, tomato Salsa Bolognese. Aunt Angie knew how to make a good lasagna.  Ice Tea default flavour is passion fruit which is ok by me, but there should be warning for those expecting plain ice tea.  3）Tiramisù is modified at Miceli. The top is covered in what seems to be eggy, velvety Crème Anglaise like Mascarpone Mousse with two Savoiardi lady finger biscuits sticking out, scattering of powdered milk chocolate. Hidden under the mousse is the standard soft mixture of Savoiardi soaked in Espresso, Coffee liqueur, whipped Mascarpone cheese.   Pleasant variation to this classic Italian Dolce.  Food here is 3+ stars. Décor 4 stars for old school over the top charm. 4+ stars for our waiter.  4- stars overall for a fun group experience.

** The most fantastic immersive Italian restaurant in LA ** WOW another place that I am super stoked to share that after 5 years of living in LA, I have never been! And now, I cannot wait to return. Miceli's is soooo delicious! We went on a Friday night at 7PM and it wasn't crowded, the service was fast and fabulous and the atmosphere was lovely. The setting in this restaurant really makes you feel like you're in Italy ...never been to Italy but I feel like a lot of the restaurants would look like Miceli's which I think is the point. We walked in when Beauty and the Beast was playing on the piano - instant love. Out waitress let us know she may sing which we thought was super COOL. We didn't know how the singing worked but it turns out almost everyone that works at Miceli's has a tremendous amount of talent and can sing! What a treat! A concert and a dinner! In some places, you know they charge you extra for these things! NOT AT MICELI'S! Let's talk about the goods now. The food! Miceli's has the classic Italian menu. Think of any Italian dish and they probably have it here. I had the shrimp scampi, my wife had the spinach lasagna and he rest of our party of 5... had the good ole class lasagna. THEY LOVED IT! We had to scoot otherwise we would have stayed for dessert. This place was an all in one. Music, ambiance, and the best food. We can't wait to take our parents here!

Admittedly, I haven't been to Miceli's in 15 years, but Yelp didn't exist the first couple times I visited. In all, I dined at the Hollywood location thrice and the Valley location once. All four experiences were mediocre at best, lousy at worst. The food is bland, the decor dated; even the pizza wasn't good and I really don't know how you can screw up pizza (but they figured it out!) I can only assume that uninformed tourists keep them in business, because it's certainly not the cuisine. With so many wonderful restaurants in Los Angeles, it's perplexing that Miceli's is still around.

RACIST WAITER ON MY BIRTHDAY 04/04/2024 Reservation time 7pm I was super excited to eat here. I did my research. I love chicken parm, so this place is where we ended up. i wanted my birthday dinner to be at an authentic italian restaurant, but the feeling wasn't mutual. Introduction by host was pleasant he took care of us more than our own waiter. Our waiter was the worst . He was a tall white man. The moment he saw us, we were not treated equally.. We ordered our food 20 minutes after a family sat down, and there were 4 of them and 2 of us. They got their food before us, and they got exactly what we ordered. We were there during 2 birthdays and sang along it seem very nice cool atmosphere . During one of my trips to the bathroom, my boyfriend told the waiter it's my birthday, hoping they would do it for me. Never happened! All I have to say is we were dressed to impress with the exception of my boyfriends dodger hat. Which is a given where in LA. it's unfortunate that Mexican Americans are still discriminated against in LA.

The only reason this place can survive is because of all the tourist traffic on Hollywood Boulevard . The food is just NOT GOOD. This restaurant has been in the same location since the 1940's and it ought to be great. It NEEDS to be great. It SHOULD be great but it falls so short . The saddest thing is that they ( the owners and management) simply do not care. I stop in about once a year to check them out after a movie at the Egyptian Theater. I keep hoping the restaurant will improve, but it never does. They charge as though Miceli's is a really solid place to eat. No way. The prices are unjustified. I suppose the bar brings in enough money to make things worthwhile. The pianists are good, and the singing waiter / waitress efforts are commendable. Do not go there for the food. Working at Miceli has got to be soul crushing. The one on Ventura Blvd. Is a little better.

I've been a happy customer at Miceli's since I was 19-20 years old and they never disappoint. Food always hot and delicious, wait staff is always amazing!! I always look forward to forward to go back!!!

I go to Los Angeles at least once a year. These days, my trips to LA are confined to leisure activities. Not that I'm a snob (well, maybe just a little), but I typically seek out joints that are Michelin-starred or are close to it in order to elevate the experience of our rare vacation time. To be quite frank, on most trips, I typically steer clear of any restaurant in a high tourist area. This year, we stayed on Hollywood Blvd. at the Hollywood Roosevelt for a classic film festival. In keeping with this theme, we decided to forego the fine dining routine and focus on joints that were around when Frank, Dino and the rest of the rat pack were in their glory. Bonus points if an eatery was in walking distance from the hotel. Miceli's was one of the few dinner restaurants that we chose simply based on outside appearance and looking as if it had been around for more than a few decades. And my better half was charmed by the old-school, somewhat kitschy, ambience. After doing some quick research, thanks to Mr. Google, and discovering that Miceli's has been around since the forties and claiming to be LA's oldest Italian Restaurant, we decided to give it a whirl on a Friday night. The menu is chock-full of old school, Italian favorites. I chose the Chicken Cacciatore. It met my expectations and was satisfying...there was nothing to find fault, but also not above the ordinary. The service was fine, but we did have to wait a bit in order to get our check. Overall, Miceli's is worth a stop if you're looking for an old-school experience, with traditional Italian dishes, and are in the Hollywood Boulevard area. If we're back again next year and get some hunger pangs around lunchtime, we'll certainly consider making the hike over to Miceli's; perhaps, this time for a meatball sandwich.

The atmosphere inside this restaurant was amazing. Signed chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling. Upper and lower lever for seating. Beautiful colored glass windows created a great look inside. Staff very friendly. We went on a Sunday afternoon in late February. Busy inside and kine out the door. We called our order in for pick up. One cheese pizza. Order was ready on time. Authentic taste, great crust. Will definitely be back to dine in.

The pasta we had was tasty but the calamari was pretty bad. I wouldn't recommend it. The service was just okay for being 1 or 4 tables in our section to e waitress was pretty absent. She did sing at one point and the was nice. The inside is beautiful, don't forget to look up!

Birthday celebration. The food is so good here. I haven't been here for a while but my family took me here and went right to the wax museum after. Too much fun. Our waiter Cale worked very hard back n forth don't know how he does it. Great waiter. And the young lady at the front to greet u into restaurant so nice Catherine. Highly recommend this restaurant. Reallyyyyyy good food Italian. Public Parking around the corner $20, but if u get it validated just alittle before the 2 hours are up u get $16.00 back and get to parking lot to give to the parking guy. We were there 1 hour 50 minutes and got the parking back except the $4.00 went towards parking. Also there was music. The restaurant is adorable fun clean and amazing.

Went to Micelis in Hollywood last night for New Years Eve and it did not disappoint!!! My boyfriend and I have made Micelis our special occasion spot because we fell in love with their pizza, romantic ambiance, and fantastic live music a few years ago on a Valentines Day. Last night we tried the meat lovers type pizza and Fettuccine Miceli with spinach. Both were so delicious and large portions; we were so excited to finish our leftovers today. Service was also outstanding-- hostess, servers, management were all energetic and attentive. Wonderful wine suggestions by our server, some complimentary fresh rolls to start (by request and a must try), and friendly staff throughout our evening. To top it off they even handed out cute New Year's party favors and free mini Prosecco bottles for a toast at 9pm!! So unexpected and memorable for us. Thank you Miceli's we will 100% be back for more!

It'd been over a decade since I'd visited. In the past the food was good and there was some history, so decided to visit again. Unfortunately it's lost its luster. I don't know if it's due to the area declining (feels more like Holly-rough than Holly-weird these days) or the abundance of other choices, but sadly this isn't the Miceli's I'd remembered. Maybe it's the chaos on the street outside that alters your perception but upon entering the dimly lit eatery, instead of feeling atmospheric, it seemed dark and dingy. The server was friendly and there were other patrons, although not crowded since we visited around 4pm on a Saturday. The real disappointment was the food. In the past the pizza was tasty but this time it lacked flavor all around - from the toppings to the crust. None of us enjoyed it. We got a large for about $30 and it fed three people, but for half the price the takeout pizza joints taste better. We also got the chicken and marinara appetizer and it was OK at best. Sadly, this will be my last visit. I hope they can find a way to turn things around. As Hollywood's oldest Italian restaurant, would love for it to continue its history.

First time at Miceli's Filet of soul, $26 plus tax and tip. Melts in your mouth. Shrooms were awesome and zucchini were good too. Older Italian restaurant with traditional decor. Place was a little dark. Parking validation was clutch. Staff were friendly enough. Would venture to have this dish again. Give it a try.

Oh boy, where to begin. I guess i'll start with the positives. The bartender was nice and attentive, for the most part. She got to me right away when I sat down. But, kind of ignored a woman who sat down before the 2 guys next to her. The bartender took the female's order after the 2 gentleman. But, she took all 3 in a row. Another positive was the server who sang. A lot of people at table behind me were asking a lot of questions about some or the sauces and he was very patient and explained each one in detail. Then, he belted out a song. Dude has a good voice. Now, the not so positive. I walked in and waited at the host table and was basically ignored. The person tending to the table was helping with other things, but she didn't even acknowledge my presence. That's when i chose to sit at the bar. Next, the food is really really bland and just not that good. I got the veal parmesan, which came with a side of spaghetti. You get a good portion of veal, and fairly thick. Well, it wasn't a good cut of meat, or just cooked poorly, or too thick. A couple of pieces were chewy. Some were ok. Plenty of breading. But, zero flavor. Same with the spaghetti. The sauce had no flavor. I tried drowning it in grated parm, but that didn't help. And, the grated parm was kept in a fridge, so it turned my food cold. I was hoping the dessert would have saved the day. I am a tiramisu snob. And one would figure an Italian restaurant would have good tiramisu. Boy, was I wrong. I did get it to go and had it in the fridge for about 2 hours before I ate it. The top was almost like soup, which I'm guessing was supposed to be some sort of whipped topping. And the standard tiramisu flavor just wasn't there. A positive was that there seemed to be some mini chunks of chocolate or chocolate chips which added a nice pop. But, um, yeah. This place was a miss for me.

The food quality is adequate. I was here with a larger group, and found they were quite short of servers, getting our checks took forever, as did trying to order additional dessert and coffee. The atmosphere is always fun, quintessential Italian kitsch.

Great food , good service , nice ambiance , easy parking .The workers are cool , good pizza .

We live in Long Beach, but have been coming to Miceli's for years. Absolutely love the food and the ambiance, feels like we stepped back in time and we love it!

Our family visited a museum down the street today and Miceli's was a block away. We've known about them forever so we decided to have lunch here. I didn't look up the Yelp rating until we got there. It was not very good, so I did not expect too much. When we walked in, the young man who "greeted" us (that is definitely a generous use of the word) and seated us was very unfriendly and looked like he was annoyed that we walked in. Thankfully, he was not our server... 4/5 - Sauteed Mushrooms: Really good and large serving to share 3/5 - Italian Sausage Sandwich: My expectations were so low that I was actually pleasantly surprised. No sides with it, which I was glad about. They served it with a bowl of marinara, which was completely unnecessary. 2/5 - Spaghetti with Meat Sauce: just okay 2/5 - Complimentary Rolls: Meh. Pet Peeve...serving cold butter out of the refrigerator so that you can't spread it on the bread. 2/5 - Chicken Fettucine w/ Broccoli: mediocre 1/5 - Pepperoni Pizza: "Famous for Pizza since 1949" it says on their menu. They should stop saying that. This could have come out of the freezer section at the grocery store. Nobody wanted to eat it. My daughter used to be a server and I have heard the stories of large parties leaving without tipping, so I am okay with automatically adding a tip to a party of 5 (with notification). However, they decided 20% for us. That's mighty big of them. We interacted once again with the guy who seated us, and he was still an unhelpful grouch. If you're going to demand a higher percentage gratuity, then maybe give better service... The food came out to 2.3 stars. No need to round up to 3.

Poor tasting pizza, it was better years ago. When bringing complaint about poor tasting pizza with very little cheese- the manager tells you 8000 other people love it. The managers can't take criticism, and I've eaten there over 29 years when the pizzas were quite good. Apparently, his goto rebuttal is s to accuse you of wanting free food- the pizza was terrible, manager has a poor attitude about criticism, and we did not take the uneaten pizza with us after he took it off the bill. It was only a 4 slice pizza, we ate two slices and didn't eat the rest. If the attitude and food quality was better- then it would be more crowded with more than 4 oeople. I read in other reviews about a manager complaining about someone leaving less than 20% tip for a waitress who was more concerned about singing than providing food service. This place was great- with waiting lines- back in the day! We know good tasting pizza, this place does not have a good quality pizza- it's thin, barely any cheese, and a crappy manager (old guy) that can't take any criticism. We have eaten here over 60 times over 20 years, it went downhill after 7 years sgo. The manager tried to blame the doe, the changed ingredients, but can't take any responsibility for his role- to ensure it was as good as it was years back. Just raise the price if it cost more to make. No need to attack patrons, he followed us out and accused us of wanting free food,hardly the case- but seems like an a""*"le anyways.

Love the vibe here!!! It has that old Italian feeling! I also loved that there was live music while we were there! The food was delicious! We both got the pesto and really enjoyed it! The calamari was also really good! It was busy but the service was still good and quick!
