"You can have two types of experiences at the French restaurant Michel's Christiania: The first is to grab a spot at the bar (where tables are for walk-ins only) and gaze at photos of U.S. Olympic skiers the owner personally coached. The second is to make a reservation for the dining room and enjoy your escargot and mussels next to a table that’s bringing home a filet mignon just for their poodle. Whichever path you choose, order the shoestring pommes frites, which are quite possibly the best this side of the Atlantic. The menu rarely changes, so you’ll always know where to get a great meal, a stiff drink, and a chance to sit at the table Hemingway called his own when he was a regular." - Hayden Seder

"Michel’s Christiania Restaurant is better known as “the Christy” to locals, who come to eat French classics in a room adorned with memorabilia from chef-owner Michel Rudigoz’s time as a coach for the U.S. women’s Olympic ski team. The menu is filled with Gallic standards like escargot, pate, and oysters alongside proteins like lamb shank, filet, and locally caught trout. Reservations are available over the phone for indoor dining, which starts at 6 p.m. nightly." - Scott Wink

We had an enjoyable dinner here on our last night at Sun Valley. Our waiter, Alex was terrific. The lamb shank, oignon soup and profiteroles were delicious. Our appetizer, the pate, was disappointing. The next time we will be in Sun Valley, I would definitely return and try other dishes.

Daniel John

Google
Definitely a little dated inside but it was easy to snag a table at 7 mid-week, and the food was very good. Nothing groundbreaking but the proteins were cooked perfectly and the potato side was amazing. Saw some comments on service but our host was incredible. Also a special call out for an excellent wine list that was hands-down the best deal in town.

We sat on the patio and the weather was perfect. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were perfect. My entree was delicious and the dessert was decadent. We sat and enjoyed the weather and our conversation after dinner and did not feel unwelcome or rushed. Great experience.

We had an incredible meal on our last night in Ketchum. Our dinner consisted of oysters, asparagus soup, salads, rack of lamb with chimichurri, fillets, beef carpaccio, and a delicious dessert to celebrate our friends birthday. The two least favorite items as a general consensus of our group was the asparagus soup. It was not flavored enough. And the beef carpaccio was not a hit either. Everything else was amazing, and meat was cooked to perfection. The waitstaff were lovely and cocktails are killer. My only suggestion would be to update the decor. The interior is so quaint and cozy, but the furniture and carpeting look rundown. could use a refresh. Overall, great experience.

Google
Amazing place and amazing food. We started out with the Mac and cheese, and I had the grilled salmon, so delicious!! Denisa took amazing care of us! Dessert was amazing, we were able to get it without chocolate due to an allergy and Denisa even offered to bring it on the side!!

Hunter Hines

Google
One of my favorite restaurants! An absolute must visit when in Ketchum. The food is always great and so is the service. Our waitress Denisa was absolutely amazing and always made sure we had everything. Michel’s is always a great experience.

Google
Disappointing experience overall. Ordered a nice bottle and we were really looking forward to some fine French cuisine! Unfortunately, between the cold sourdough bread with foil wrapped butter and unavailable dishes such as the braised lamb, high prices, and only moderately acceptable service; Mitchell's Christiana bombed.

Sophia Darlings

Google
The food and service here were phenomenal, and I can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
I am a local and finally made it to Michel's for dinner. My experience was excellent. Our waiter Alex was fantastic. The Capris salad was tasty. Bread was also nice with that. After all the talk about their Burger, well- it was excellent. The meat was juicy and full Of flavor. Also we had the scallops with couscous, it was good. Wine list was nice. The dessert was delicious. Overall good meal and good vibe.

Yelp
The crepes with Morels amazing great service with enough attention sat on patio on a perfect evening it was a 5 star experience

Yelp
How to put this.....DO NOT GO HERE. I have never written a negative review for a restaurant before, but this place earned it and really should be embarrassed. After we returned from dinner this evening, I had to read the comments to see what other people have said about this place. Any one star = believe. Anything above one star = fabricated (or intoxicated). Went here due to a recommendation from someone who had eaten here quite a while back, so I will begrudgingly believe them that it used to be good. To start off everything, the "Maître d" was sitting in the bar when we entered, then was rude and dismissive. The service was untrained and not anywhere near "fine dining" caliber. AND to top it all off, the prices were beyond ridiculous for the experience. The ambiance was terrible, unless you like dining in the late 70's / early 80's. The food was bland bland bland. App's were 5/10 at best. Mac and cheese was bush-league plain. As this was a "specialty" of Michel....this should have been foreboding as to what was coming. Clams were the "best" thing we had and I would rank those near the bottom of clam dishes compared to the numerous times we have had them elsewhere. We order French onion soup whenever it is on a restaurants menu.....in the States or in France and Michel's was definitely one of the poorer versions we've had. Nobody finished it. The entree's did not fair any better. There was no seasoning on the scallops, salmon or steak. There was no sear on the scallops, salmon or steak. Sauces WERE DEFINITLY NOT FRENCH CALIBER. Green beans were flaccid and tasteless (as if out of a can) and everyone left their sides on the plate as they were just THAT BAD. Seasoning must have drop kicked the chef's nuts as some point, as it clearly is not his friend. Spend your money elsewhere at the MANY deserving restaurants in town. We will never return to this restaurant.

Yelp
Our experience was fantastic! We had a wonderful meal and great wine. We ordered the chicken with morelle mushrooms and the prime rib special. Great ambiance, great service and we will definitely be back.

Dina P.

Yelp
I take no pleasure in saying this but feel others must be warned. The service was terrible and the food bland and uninspired. The saving grace were the fresh oysters which were delicious and unharmed by the kitchen. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. I've been eating at fine dining for more than 20 years. Chicago, New York, London, etc. absolutely the most atrocious service I've ever had. We were literally the first table sat. Waitress started off rude, but I didn't think much of it. Read the specials without any real explanation. Seemed irritated to be working, but whatever, I thought she was having a bad day. We ordered the morel crepes and the stuffed morel mushrooms. The stuffed morels were horrible. I've been hunting and cooking morels my entire life. The morels weren't washed/cleaned properly and were filled with dirt and grit, giving them a truly unpleasant sandy/gritty texture. I mentioned it to one of the wait staff. No one came by. We then waited over an hour for our entrees. Mind you we were literally the first table sat. The table next to us (sat afterwards) we're finishing their entrees. We still hadn't been served. I asked the hostess how much longer our food would take. No one seemed to know. As I had a young child with us, I told them I would have to leave as we had already been waiting an hour. They then insisted I pay for some of the meal and insisted on charging me $100. The waitress then said - wait for it - "Sir, this is not McDonald's. This is fine dining." I worked in restaurants for 10 years. I'm an attorney who has frequented Michelin star restaurants and have dined at multiple James Beard award winners. Your service and restaurant are a joke. You should be embarrassed.

Snake F.

Yelp
Was there last week My guess is america is tired of hearing service and food ain't great because of covid then inflation then we can't hire anyone Maybe true but then drop the prices if food and service could possibly be this bad Unless someone died last week the day we were there this is a morose group from front desk to severs. Not knowledgeable of ingredients nor execution Food literally was dreadful. Don't know how to explain how bad it was and still expensive. Please show some pride

Erin M.

Yelp
food was very good (with the exception of the overcooked green beans) the service was terrible. our waitress was very unfriendly, made us feel very uncomfortable. we left to have dessert elsewhere because of her attitude. it's disappointing that her service put a damper on our anniversary meal - hard to justify top dollar when treated like that.

Craig B.

Yelp
Been in Ketchum for a week and have had great meals each night. Always have brought a bottle of wine for the six of us and also ordered additional bottle or two. Corkage fees have been $15 to $30. Brought a decent bottle tonight and ordered two more, both great values with only a $25-40 markup from retail. Was shocked to see corkage was $45 on our $700 bill, plus a 20% gratuity (so $54 for our bottle!). The server agreed with our reaction and said they've asked the owners before about it but to no avail. So, we then chatted with the owners about this and they were rude and dismissive. My suggestion - don't bring wine with you! The meal and service were both good but this left is with a bad taste in our mouth!

Suzanne R.

Yelp
we dined here for the third year in a row while staying at the Sun Valley lodge. The previous 2 experiences were excellent. when ere dined there in ear March it was an awful experience. we we looking forward to a lovely evenin, I dressed to the nines. our wa Chelsea was condescending and rude. We had to ask for silverware to eat our appetizer. Escargot needs a seafood fork. My fiancé had to ask for a soup spoon and by the time we got a wait staff's attention the soup was cold. Continuously had to ask for ice. Chelsra did not explain the side dishes. Couscous was like paste no herbs or spices. Awful Will never go back. i called ane left messages but my calls were not returned. The canales that I loved in France were overdone and not the same as last year. Stay away from Chelsea My fiancé is a huge tipper but this time I begged him to leave none. He added 10%. The staff is under trained for the class of restaurant. Patrons expect more when paying for a gourmet meal and lovely atmosphere

Barbara P.

Yelp
Always consistently good food and excellent service! Very authentic French food very well done in Ketchum, Idaho. And sitting on the back patio on a cool fall evening is such a treat. Thank you for making every time we visit such a great experience!

Kim R.

Yelp
After several attempts to contact the restaurant to inquire about corkage fees, they never answer phone calls, We arrived for dinner, ordered 2 bottles of wine off the menu and brought one with us. The corkage fee was $45 plus 20% gratuity built in for our bottle. We talked to the owner and he defended the fee because "people were smuggling wine in inside their coats." Utterly ridiculous. Never going back.

D. B.

Yelp
Loved that they had my favorite Chardonnay by the glass! Good start. Husband had the special app - oysters. He said they were delish. We moved on to the grilled Ceasar salad (see pic). Yum! I had the Idaho Red Trout and hubby had the Filet Au Poivre. Both cooked perfectly, seasoned well. The potatoes au gratin was amazing. Service was good. Hostess was not very friendly. Lovely ambience.

Spanky O.

Yelp
Cannot recommend more highly. Restaurants like this don't just happen. Someone (the people who run this establishment) pays attention to everything, and cares. We were beautifully treated by the maitre'd (Jackie) and staff (Nancy) The atmosphere was just lovely. Classic The food was excellent -- one of the best filets ever. The lyonaisse potatoes, the morels, the Caesar salad. The wine list was excellent And the place is not a clip joint. Reasonable and fair One of the most memorable evenings you can have in Sun Valley -- and one we won't soon forget Thank you so much Michel's Christiania. Hope we can come back someday. Just the best

God S.

Yelp
The best restaurant in town. Absolutely slaps. Definitely worth the price. Its a must if you're visiting or just moved here.

Tyler P.

Yelp
Michel's was a disappointing end to a wonderful day. Food was two stars. Basic and what you would expect from a hotel catered meal for 200-500 people. Steak was over cooked, clams were dry, Caesar was something you could get from a premade kit. Bread was good, but packets of butter...for a French restaurant? Pretty funny. Service was one star. From walking in the door to walking out, it felt like we were visiting an unfriendly Eastern European country...the "France ambassador" plaque adoring the entry should be revisited by the awarding committee.

Tammy F.

Yelp
Loved EVERYTHING about our dinner. Favorite in the area for a special evening. Will be back for sure.

Alexa R.

Yelp
This is a wonderful, classic Ketchum restaurant. Michel, the chef/owner takes pride in his dishes, and you can taste it in every bite. He's a hilarious, welcoming character, we are thrilled that his amazing place has stood the test of time. Dining here is an experience that makes you feel like you've gotten a taste of Europe right in Sun Valley. The service, food and atmosphere are old world, and rare these days. This place is a true gem, I hope it continues its legacy.

Cindy W.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended by numerous locals. Was the worst food I have ever had in my life. We had a professional chef with us and even he was disgusted.

R. L.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect! Appetizers SOUPE A L'OIGNON LYONNAISE - fantastic French onion soup CARPACCIO DE BOEUF - wasn't put together so you could add as little or as much of the capers and truffle as you wanted MICHEL'S SIGNATURE MAC'N CHEESE - heavenly on a cold night Entrees POITRINE DE POULET AUX MORILLES FILET AU POIVRE VERT ET MORILLES Special was veal Those three will change your life. Absolutely perfection LE BURGER GRILLE AUX TRUFFES We added the burger as a 4th plate for the three of us after hearing from Michel him self and it was perfectly done as well Sean was our waiter / bartender and between he and Michel the owners story's and recommendations it was one of the top dining experiences to date.

Brenna T.

Yelp
I'd call this more French than New American but the food is reliably great. It's definitely rich and heavy - don't expect a light meal!

Jody P.

Yelp
Keep your expectations realistic and you won't be disappointed. This is one of the "fanciest" restaurants in Sun Valley. Sun Valley is just about the most isolated ski town in America. Don't expect this to be NYC fine dining. MC is best described as "fusty Continental." It's got a totally expected French menu, nothing daring, and everything is... fine. We had some delicious old fashioneds (cheers to the bartender!) and a more-than-tasty course of crepes morel (perfect for a cold fall night). The rest of the food was upscale banquet quality. Standard, consistent, not mouth popping. The interior is alpine cozy and delightfully retro fancy. The service was fine. Please know that if you flag that your dinner is a special occasion/milestone they won't acknowledge or care. Everyone in SV comes here reflexively for birthdays/anniversaries/graduations/promotions/etc. They're over it and they don't care. If you think they'll care, you'll be disappointed. Don't bother telling them or putting it in your resy notes. Bottom line: expensive. Formal. Okay. Only dine here if you won't feel awful about spending that much on mediocre food the next day.

T S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat. Great cocktails and the food is reliably delicious. We usually go with the intent of getting Le burger but I get tempted away by one of the specials. They have outdoor seating but I prefer to sit at the bar.

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Outstanding restaurant! We sat at the cozy Hemingway booth and had a wonderful dinner. The escargot and french onion soup were both full of flavour and well prepared. The New York strip and halibut entrees were amazing. Biggest piece of fish we have had in a long time. Service was fantastic, atmosphere inside amazing, and outside looked pleasant as well.

Frank S.

Yelp
Vastly overated reputation. Menu is tempting and some dishes actually met expectations. Portions way too large. I ordered the breast of chicken for $44. Stringy and tough. I mentioned it to Matthew the server. He really could not have cared less. No replacement no comp. Caveat Emptor for sure. Oh yes, the pommes allumettes were great, to end on one positive not. But all in all, look elsewhere.

Justin B.

Yelp
It seems like the Yelp reviews seem heavily dependent on the service received, and ours was top notch by Matt. The white tablecloth ambiance was nice but not stuffy and my wife and I had a lovely meal. The cocktails were strong and really well made. Grilled Caesar was a great take on a classic Caesar salad with just the right amount of char for flavor but not to wilt the lettuce. My wife's French onion soup was savory and served piping hot. Her clams were well cooked with a very nice broth. My NY steak frites with green beans were as solid as I've had at any steakhouse. Perfectly cooked medium rare steak, excellently balance red wine sauce, thin salty frites, and just crispy green beans. Great place for a romantic dinner while in Sun Valley.

Dede B.

Yelp
We were very disappointed in our meal here. Ordered a Caesar salad which had little to no flavor and my husband I split their rib eye steak special. It was equally as good as what I cook at home, and I'm not a superb steak chef! So, that didn't impress us either. If I am going to spend 45$ for a steak I want it to be better than the 12$ one I cook from the grocery store. The restaurant is very nice inside and had a good ambiance. The service was nice and for that maybe I could have given it a 3 star rating.

April R.

Yelp
This was by far my favorite meal in Sun Valley! It's a throw back in time for sure with an elegance that is timeless. The food is spectacular as is the ambiance and people watching. I felt as though I was stepping back in time in an old Hollywood restaurant. I loved it. If you have never been, and you are looking for a special meal in Sun Valley, this is the spot!

Sherry H.

Yelp
Yikes, I'm a professionally trained chef that specialized in Mediterranean cuisine. I've cooked in Italy, France and the USA... everything cooked from scratch and a complete white lines experience. My husband booked this for our 40th wedding anniversary. Not one, not one of the severs even said as much as happy Anniversary....seriously!?! Our server was of NO help with selecting a nice French wines we could pair with our dinner....Really, in my professional culinary world that is their JOB! Guess what, we didn't give him an order. He didn't deserve the bump to his ticket. No additional sale! Alcohol is a big profit in this business...screw you. The bread was still cold from thawing from their freezer...come on! Had to ASK for side plates for the appetizers. Who puts tomatoes in the frig...they do. Seriously, it kills their flavor and we ordered a ,ready, capris salad. It was flavorless because they pre-set the plates and put them in the frig. I expect better from any French restaurant. The most disappointing part of the whole dinning experience was our waiter never even acknowledged our anniversary much les that we were celebrating 40 years of marriage! Really a disappointment. My husband tried so hard to make this a special dinner and evening but the 10 too next to us won out.

Jason S.

Yelp
I'm bewildered by any positive reviews. I wanted to like this, but it seems a front for a restaurant with its glory days long gone. Now simply playing tourists. Bread service was unremarkable, but far less offensive than the rest of the meal. It's French, so we tried the French onion soup - cold, with cheese congealed into one mass. We had the salmon and lamb shank entrees. While both were cooked correctly (salmon not under / overdone, and meat falling off the shank), it was clear both had been cooked - at least - hours ago and reheated in some way - served barely room temperature. We would have been happy with the lamb shank if we were eating it as a leftover the day after a wonderful night out - that's what it was, dried and crusty too far into the center. Just like in the 1970's, both were served with the same vegetable (also, as pictured on their website!) - green beans and a variation on scalloped potato. Again, unremarkable, but not offensive. The old-fashioned cocktail was 4 thumbs up - nothing but Bourbon. Given the food, I think I understand. Anyway, 1 cocktail (for one guest, that is), 2 starters, 2 entrees, 15% tip = $160. We're new locals and will not be back. Ever.

Ellie E.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure of dining in! seriously great food. Nice people working there. Simply enjoyable.

Jeanette M.

Yelp
Awesome! Fabulous food in a perfect setting for a ski town. Atmosphere is cozy, charming and fun as its reflects the outstanding US Ski Team career of the owner, Michel. Highly recommend the salmon entree and the mushroom/blue cheese burger. Like my very picky teenager said "BEST BURGER EVER MOM." Don't have a clue where the low reviews could be coming from. If you want food and an experience that is not like every trendy joint in every ski town today, seriously don't miss this experience. Its what a ski town experience should be, however you will return for the food! time and time again

Sheryl P.

Yelp
My husband says this is the best restaurant of any sort he's ever been to, bar none. Our servers were fast, efficient, and checked on us often. Our hostess was quiet, and rather reticent, but don't let that put you off. Our salads were delicious, with the freshest of greens, my husbands steak was perfect, and my chicken breast in Morel cream sauce was divine. I ordered a side of sautéed spinach and onions, which was perfectly seasoned and not over cooked. One thing to know, you do get large portions, along with a side of perfectly cooked vegetables, as well as a starch. Mine was scalloped potatoes done just right and my husband's was pomme frittes. All in all it was a nice way to celebrate our 20th anniversary, with flavorful food, a nice cozy patio experience and great service. Well worth your time and money.

Susan C.

Yelp
We thought we would go here and have good French food and an upscale experience (as the $ is high). The service was brash..slow and then awkward as well. Such as wanting to pickup plates prior to our finishing, with hands on it...also when water poured, the helper grabbed the glass by placing her finger inside of it. Waiter not knowing any cocktails to suggest when asked, with Vodka. Our son had to go to the bar to order one. When told to the waiter that he had ordered it, the waiter said, well I hope he actually gets you this. Very bush league and the prices were super high. Food was good which was a reief as the entire night was uncomfortable. We even heard the waiter tell the table of ladies next to us that they were expecting to seat others at their table. (To tell them to leave). so rude.

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
Disappointed. Attempted to bring my mom to a nice dinner when she was visiting Ketchum. Terrible first impression, walked out before even dining: Light was off outside, and the placed looked closed. Chalkboard sign showing hours was awkwardly placed leaning next to the door. Walking in and received no greeting, walked further in so the bartender could see us, he ignored us and continued having a casual conversation with someone. We stood there for a minute or so, then decided to seat ourselves at a bar table. No one ever greeted us or gave us menus and another minute or so went by. So we took our business elsewhere. I wish I could have tasted the food, because I've heard it's delicious. However, front of house is half or more of the experience and we were not impressed. We are both in food service and would never attempt to go there again.

Jack N.

Yelp
Absolutely deplorable and my table was attacked by an intoxicated patron and used racial slurs toward us. When we reported this to the owners son he told us we should know better than to have a political discussion at our private table!? He also informed us that the drunk patron is there all the time suggesting our $1000 bill was not nearly as important as his friends. Bottom line: declining food, sad atmosphere, and owners who discriminate. This is a BIG pass if you are in Sun Valley.

Lucio G.

Yelp
Maybe this place is resting on its laurels --- but i was thoroughly unimpressed. The food lacked any kind of creativity, seems a bit stuck in the 1980s and the service was abysmal. Server barely managed a smile, never came to check on us. Food wise -- a ceasar salad to start might as well come out of a bag. Bland, store-bought Romaine with little else. Dressing also lacked any special quality. I ordered the lamb shank and it was a great portion size but, again, nothing special. The red wine sauce was overwhelming and was about an inch deep on the plate. The two sides -- a potatoes au gratin and tomato also lacked any creativity. If you want to go because it holds a special place for you, have at it. But if you are looking for good food, excellent service and a place with creativity - go elsewhere. Sorry, but true.

Kristen M.

Yelp
Expensive French food but definitely worth it! Service is great and food is outstanding. This looks like a place a lot of older locals and homeowners frequent. The owner, Michel, used to be a ski coach so you'll see photos of former Olympic skiers all over the place. It looks a lot bigger on the inside than it does from outside but it's still cozy and charming. We ate here on our last night in SV which was perfect because the experience was so memorable!

Lynda S.

Yelp
Made a reservation three weeks ahead of time for an outside table. Confirmed it. When we arrived the owner and the maitre de even though we had confirmed the outside location they insisted on putting us inside. There were empty tables outside. Told them to disappoint someone else. The inside tables were on top of each other. I asked the head person if she personally was vaccinated. She at first did not respond. I asked again This time she looked down and said yes. I know masks are not required in idaho but the overall behavior of the owner and maitre d. Was rude and not customer friendly in any way. We are locals and have been here 30 plus years. no where have I been treated in this manner at any restaurant in the area. We left and ended up eating outside at another local venue.

Diana M.

Yelp
We have been going here for years and it is one of my all time favorites in Sun Valley. Recently celebrated my "Covid" birthday here and could not have been happier. Beautiful atmosphere, attentive yet unobtrusive service, and the food is always delicious. Yes, it is a bit old school, but that's what I love so much about it.

Chris S.

Yelp
We have been coming to Sun Valley/Ketchum for 20 years and indulging in the atmosphere and all the activities of a very unique playground. We had never been to Michel's until last week when we wanted to take out our dear friends to a memorable dinner. It was outstanding in every regard! Sun Valley is fortunate to have a quality restaurant with a lot of history and tradition to depend on!

Michael Thomas D.

Yelp
We went to this charming French restaurant with a couple of friends and loved it -- great wine, attentive service and good food. The atmosphere is a throw back to another era, in a good way.

Vanessa H.

Yelp
Spectacular meal and great ambience. The whole experience was perfect. Outdoor seating a must. We had a waiter Neil who was charismatic and knowledgeable and gives his honest opinion. We had caprese salad with the freshest tomatoes and beautiful burrata, Caesar salad, a huge dry aged ribeye, veal chop with morels, to die for Mac and cheese and a fabulous desert. The food the staff (ask for Neil) and the experience was spectacular. Michel said goodbye to us on our way out; a very gracious kind host. I look forward to my next visit. I have been coming to Sun Valley for years and this was my first dining experience there. I wish I had come years before. I am a foodie and highly recommend Michel Christiania. ( kind of obvious huh?)

Thomas Z.

Yelp
Amazing food BUT CALL AHEAD if you want steak tartare. Apparently only Michel is ALLOWED to make it. Maybe it is just me but it is hard to overcook steak tartare. The frites are amazing. The escargot is to die for. The matre d is one of the nicest I have met. I wanted steak tartare!!

Anne C.

Yelp
The food is fantastic! Love the lamb shank and Foie Gras! The wine selection is nice! The waiter was meh. Seemed uninterested, wasn't knowledgeable about some items and wished he wasn't here. I took home my leftovers, but the place seems tired.

Brooke D.

Yelp
My mom and I came to Ketchum, ID for our annual girls weekend and we were looking forward to a nice dinner for our last night in town. We had reservations and when we walked in, we were not welcomed but instead told when we needed to leave, rushing our dinner. The food was subpar and we found a hair in our Caesar salad. Unfortunately, due to service we received along with the high prices for mediocre food, we will not be returning ...

Yelp
Had very great expectations... but this place failed. Food was truly a 4 on the scale from 1 to 10... grilled ceasar salad had no dressing, we had to ask for bread about 3 times, wild salmon was as dry as dog bone... after so many years of coming to Sun Valley we finally went to famous Christiania and will not go there again. No, thank you.

Yelp
We came to visit beautiful Sun Valley for a week. Everything here is delightful, except when we went to have our last dinner in Michel's restaurant. We really like the menu we saw. The food was amazing, but the service was absolutely not the best. The boy,who came to serve us was absolutely rude, he rush us to order, never greet us and smile. He had an accent, I believe he mention something like being from overseas. My husband did not wanted to tip him at all, but we can't be like that. This one star is because of the service in the restaurant, and I am so sorry.

Yelp
The proprietor of the restaurant is an extremely friendly French gentleman named, appropriately enough, Michel. Michel is visible during dinner service, and is quite charismatic. I had never been to Sun Valley, and the plan was to go to Michel's for dinner before a night out in town. My experience at Michel's was very good. Not flawless, but very good. The atmosphere was terrific. The restaurant and the patio outside are both extremely comfortable to be in. We were outside, and there is a nice fountain with lots of great ambiance trees. The wait staff was knowledgeable and on top of it. The food was really good, with the one exception being the reason I decided to take off one star. I had never had escargots before, so I decided to have them at Michel's. Now, I am a relatively adventurous eater, so it is not that I am somehow put off by the thought of eating snails. It's just that I was expecting them to be more flavourful than they were. They came in kind of a garlic butter, but it tasted more like a bland pesto without the cheese. In other words, it needed more seasoning. I imagine that it would have been really tasty in a drawn butter like one would have to dip lobster into. This was an unsalted oil, I believe, as opposed to butter. It lacked the taste that I was expecting. All around, everything else was terrific. The wine list is great, the food overall is wonderful. It's just the escargots that made me wish I had tried them in France for my first time.
