Best Ramen in Austin | Eater Austin

"Another of Austin’s favorite ramen bowls comes from Michi, which had already been serving takeout noodle soups for a while. The bowls include the spicy Jungle with Thai chiles, and the Meat Lover’s with loaded double chashu slices and ground pork. Pickup orders for all locations (the other two in the Barrington Oaks Center and on South Lamar) can be placed online; the North Lamar and Barrington Oaks locations have indoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

We went around 945-10pm. A few people were there. It’s BYOB if you want. The veggie broth had a pinch of spice. The noodles didn’t have a particular taste to me (they’re clear), but the broth brought all the flavor. Michi had a flavorful broth and soft sliced pork belly. The broth was creamy. They have free water you can drink. You can purchase cans of coke, tea and other drinks. Great music (80s hits), dim lighting and a quiet atmosphere.

Google
Probably the best ramen in Austin. That being said... tables were sticky, got bit by a mosquito 4x indoors, we were the only customer, and it took 20 minutes to get our ramen. We ordered dipping noodle and tori ramen with a side of mayu (black garlic oil) and a bottled texas sweet tea for lunch. Came out to around $38. Almost $20 a person after tip. Flavor wise, both ramen tasted great. The tori ramen was foamy?? Both noodles could have been better, tasted a bit like the cheap noodles from the supermarket. Porkbelly was 50 cents extra and really thin but wasn't freezer burned. Noodles were slightly undercooked for the tsukemen/dipping noodles. Chopsticks were disposible, and water cups were styrofoam that you had to get yourself. The lighting was very dark, and the menu was hard to read. Staff was friendly. If I were to come back, I'd order to-go.

Google
Ramen noodles, broth, and sides were excellent too. The atmosphere is a bit different after Demia, but service was great. Thank you for your presence to celebrate a birthday dinner.

Google
They're still remodeling, which is better than the location on S Lamar that has their lobby closed entirely. Food is just as great as I remember and service has always been friendly and kind. Been going here on and off since I was fresh out of high school and they've never let me down.

I was worried when going to this location and the other because I notice the reviews have gotten more negative since the last time I've been here. That was about less than ten years ago. So I go to the N Lamar location and there was a physical change. No more outdoor patio, bar dancing a white design wall, children's drawings on the wall. We were the only ones there. It seems they got a few delivery orders though. I got the veggie ramen with spicy broth. It was good and personally it's just as good as I remember. It's still the best ramen shop to me in Austin.

Google
Don't let the outside fool you, Michi Ramen is a wonderful place to get Ramen. The choices alone are worth the adventure! I went here with kiddo, and took a bowl to go for a friend. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is amazing, and the food is just so damn good! Any Ramen enthusiast must come and try it out. They have straight mild to burn your face off hot. We went to the North Lamar location.

Kait M

Google
The atmosphere is really icky and terrible. The entire place, inside and out, looks so rundown it practically looks abandoned. They seem to have a lot of things in disrepair, and I understand maybe not being able to afford proper repairs, but it doesn't cost anything to clean up. The state of the restaurant is inexcusable, if I had been alone I would have just walked right back out the door.

Kelly Michael Skelton

Google
Good experience at Michi. The restaurant was going through renovations so I won’t comment much on the ambience. The ramen was good, definitely better than other places in Austin. The karaage was delicous, both chicken and squid. Seafood salad is done well and fries are average.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for a late lunch yesterday. Unfortunately, there were a few groups who ordered ahead of us, and one had a party of 4. We were super frustrated to have been waiting for our food for about hour, especially bc neither of us had eaten since breakfast and it was so cold inside the restaurant. The girl who took our order came around to us and apologized for the wait, and even offered us free drinks or free mochi for the trouble. While we ended up not taking her up on her offer, we really appreciated how kind she was to come up to us. Now- THE FOOD. It was by far the best ramen I have ever had. If I hadn't been so hungry coming in, I wouldn't have minded waiting an hour for our food. It was that good. I hope they work on their wait times, whether that be a staffing problem or something else. If you don't mind waiting a while for great ramen and bringing a jacket (and maybe even a blanket) I recommend stopping by!

Yelp
I went in for the first time since the pandemic the other day and man... A LOT has changed, and not in a good way unfortunately :/. I'm gonna reflect on the past here for a bit in hopes that ownership sees it. Back in the day michi used to be the spot. The outside of the store was only slightly better than it is today but it almost acted as a contrast to what was inside. Inside the store was warm and welcoming. Plenty of space to seat guests, a bar for those looking for that experience, and my favorite part, a little corner with shelves full of manga. Music in the store was nice and subtle, the lights were dim, the service was good. A whole bunch of great things to be said about how the place USED to be. It was like a haven for weebs like myself. My memory was all I had of Michi, and it made me desperate to come back. Now after I've been sad to say, I don't think I'll be going back. The outside is no longer contrasting to the inside. The kitchen was moved to front of house where the bar used to be. I suspect a sort of ghost kitchen operation going on in the back (no hate, get that bread). dining space was effectively cut in half. Theres a tacky kind of store replacing a lot of the dining space which also kind of doubles as a storage space. The lights are bright, it kinda stinks in there, and the music was a hinderance to conversation at times, just overall not very welcoming. The food however was similar to my memories. I ordered the michi with thick broth, sliced pork belly, and an onsen. Seeing reviews here I probably wouldn't change my order in fear of further disappointment. All in all, I miss the old Michi. The one now is essentially the same as the one found in that one grocery store. Which is unacceptable considering its an entire store.

Yelp
I've given this review a lot of thought because I don't believe in leaving reviews that are sub five stars without constructive criticism. For context, I do know how to make my own ramen broths. And I come from an area in California known for very high quality ramen. My husband got the dipping ramen. I got one of the more basic ramens. My ramen arrived completely foamy. When I flagged down the waitress to ask why that was, apparently they're using some sort of hand mixer to mix the broth. That's a huge red flag to me because a really good broth shouldn't have to need such aggressive mixing like that. Perhaps it was to get whatever pace they were using properly mixed but again, I have never been to a ramen establishment that needed such an aggressive shaking of a broth. It was also a little bit too salty but other than that, the meat tasted great. The broth would have tasted great if it wasn't a little overseasoned. The meat and my husband's dish was well prepared and had a nice barbecue flavor. However, after all is said and done, we paid almost $40 for ramen that was okay and he didn't improvement as far as technique is concerned. It seemed that other reviewers of this establishment feel the same. I suggest creating more processes regarding the expectations of a good quality broth. This is Austin. There are a lot of new food establishments popping up every day and there is simply too much competition here for us to waste another $40 on ramen, when we can get an even better ramen at Blue Fin Sushi for less money.

Yelp
Don't let the abandoned look on the outside of this establishment to run you off. The food was great. I have to be super careful of my diet and Ramen is not on that list because of the soy in most dishes. The server tried to comfort me on no soy in a couple of their broths (it tasted way too yummy to be chicken broth only). The dish I had (chicken broth) was amazing. Makes me disappointed in regular Ramen from a package, The runny egg could have been cooked a tad bit more but other than that tiny complaint, it was amazing. My husband liked his dish also but the "lean" pork was too dry for his taste. When I found Michi, they claim that their chicken and beef broth doesn't have any soy items in it. So, I decided to give it a try... the worst I could have is stomach problems, so why not?, So far is been 35 minutes and I'm still not sick. I'm thinking their claim was spot on and I'm glad I tried it. Ambience - it's very dim in the dining area. The outside of the restaurant has not been taken care of so it looked closed/abandoned.

Yelp
Walked in just now and there's a strong sewage smell in the restaurant. There was only one party sat and they were laying down on the bench. I can't review the food, but the smell alone was too much and I had to walk out. Also, nobody came to help and there were several parties waiting. We stuck around for a few minutes but then left and got food at the food truck next door.

Yelp
Michi Ramen looks abandoned from the outside. There was parking at night available in the auto shop next to the restaurant. My friends and I were disappointed by our experience here. We ordered the Michi, which is their classic ramen bowl. It says the choice of meat is included, but we found out later they charged $1 extra for pork belly, which was not indicated on the menu. They also charged $1 for chili oil! Most restaurants like this have the chili oil bottle ready to use on the table. The ramen was fine, but there were definitely not enough noodles for the price. The lighting was dim inside.

Jeffrey X.

Yelp
Pretty solid spot for a reasonably priced bowl of ramen. Everything tastes pretty good. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not what we were looking for, as it's a bit dim inside of the restaurant. Felt a bit humid inside as well. Service was relatively fast, even though most things were self serve
google avatar

Yelp
No just no lol $12 unseasoned ramen I could have made myself for $2. It was also hot as hell inside it just was so unpleasant all around.

Yelp
When it comes to ramen in austin, Best places to best. Granted, it looks like a hole in the wall. However, what it lacks in decor is that it makes up in service and excellent food. The excellent selection of ramen and appetizers is excellent. Check depending on which broth you use in. Your ramen can make or break the soup. This is not the case for this place. All the brosts are very delicious. The appetizers are very fulfilling. If I have to give a negative point for this place. Is that the daycore and location is something that needs to be greatly improved
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Deeply flavorful ... had the pork belly classic ramen... tender noodles...delicious broth. I should have asked for thai basil. We also had the fried chicken thigh pieces and they were crisp and a nice side with the ramen. Friendly and quick service. The "ambience" -- to the extent it exists at all --is super casual to the point of spartan. Michi is perfect for carrying out. Will definitely return to try other menu items.

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened to this Michi Ramen location but it is the worst. The atmosphere is depressing and uninviting. The service is slow and I've only seen one person up front doing everything. So, unfortunately the service is slow and tables & the floor are not clean. Now to the main character, the food. It's kind of hard to screw up this simple dish....but...when my dish finally arrived it was lukewarm and half was warmer than the other side of the bowl signaling the dish was not fresh and was most likely reheated in a microwave. And the topper the slice pork was burnt ruining the entire dish. Well needless to say, I won't be back, as there are many other ramen shops in town.

Yelp
They are OPEN for dining in! I really wanted to give it another shot so I came back to try the hot-right-out-of-the-kitchen experience and it was pretty good! Food was tasty, we got calamari salad, michi ramen and sapporo ramen. I have to give them the praise for this menu setup because it makes sense, it gave people choice for what they enjoy and what they don't want to get charged for. I love that now I can choose to get pork belly instead of ground pork, and all of the options are clearly presented in the menu (unlike the misled information on take-out apps). Staff was very helpful and attentive, it seemed that they were short of people though, so there was only 1 lady running around, but she did great! All the food we got were tasty, price was reasonable and quickly served. I took 1 star off because it seemed to me the dining room was not completely done yet. Tables were still stacked up on the other side, light was dimmed, a bit too dimmed that we couldn't really see all the ingredients in the bowl if we sit on the wrong side of the light bulb. I wish it could be lighter or the set up of tables and light can embrace each other. Other than that, I would definitely come back for more ramen!
google avatar

Bri K.

Yelp
Pretty average decent ramen. Our food came out hot and pretty quickly after ordering, I enjoyed it. Some of these reviews are pretty polarizing and the vibe is definitely off in here but overall, it was a fair bowl of ramen. Not bad not great.
google avatar

Pax S.

Yelp
I guess it's their proximity to me but I keep giving Michi a second, third, fourth, etc. chance and I keep being let down. This time was especially bad as all of my noodles were in one clump (as if they were unwrapped from a plastic wrapping already cooked) and had a congealed outline as if they had been sitting in the package forever. I would have taken a picture but I was too thrown off. I am finally saying no more to Michi. Ridiculously disappointing restaurant.

David M.

Yelp
Talk about a real fall from grace. Michi used to be my wife and I's favorite ramen joint and we had been going for years. We hadn't been inside to dine in recent years due to the pandemic, but we finally did recently and what a let down. I was skeptical when people were talking about lower quality due to new ownership, but it's true. The indoor dining area has been revamped and looks much more dingy and unwelcoming. There's no more bar or wait staff and the dining area is a fraction of what it used to be. The food just doesn't taste nearly as good as it used to. It's just ok now, which is a massive downgrade. I'm sad to say that I would recommend you look elsewhere for ramen.
google avatar

Barbara D.

Yelp
It's hard to find good ramen outside Japan but this was pretty good. I was a fan of the veggie broth which was full of flavor. All of their broths and ramen can be mixed and matched. The vegan gyoza was a nice touch since it's not easy to find vegan options. So 4 stars for making the effort to feed the vegans ;-)
google avatar

Yufan J.

Yelp
I did a take out from here about a year ago. Today pass is again needed to write a review. I understand things were tough in pandemic but the soup was foamy and the food was packaged in a BLACK plastic bag. Which is not appetizing and weird. The noodle was soft and soggy. I am not expecting something like Marufuku, but if it's close to Ajisen I'll be happy

Kayla L.

Yelp
Love this place! I get the Sapporo at regular thickness and the employees are also super nice. My favorite ramen place in Austin!
google avatar

Nicholas M.

Yelp
Okay so, it's a cute place where you order at the register, get your own water then sit where you like, the food came quickly after; (there is also a little shop area with a nice selection of imported snacks like chips and candy.) As far as food we ordered the Michi ramen and the Jungle ramen, both with pork belly. I have to say the menu was a little funny, I was unclear about what sort of broth I was getting, BUT they were fantastic! The flavors were unique, delicious, and thoughtful, not too spicy.
google avatar

Ray J.

Yelp
The food is decent but the wait and service is horrible. I placed an order about two hours ago and still have no food and no update. They don't answer the phone so you have to wait in line to ask the only employee for an update. I cannot recommend wasting your time here.
google avatar

Tony D.

Yelp
Food 2/5 Aftermath 1/5 Got their signature Ramen for $11 Noodles were AL Dante,Pork nice char but not tender. Broth is fine: kinda boring a little chili flakes if they offered would be perfect. Bowl came out fast and was great hot if you wanted to eat in your car. if my nose starts running when I eat a ramen, thats a physical indicator it was good, no running nose but other running things later :(

Kako D.

Yelp
I want to give Michi the benefit of the doubt since this was my first time but this was the worst ramen I've had. We got the normal Michi ramen and the Meat Lovers with mala and diced chilis. Both of the broths tasted like nothing, even with mala. The noodles were okay at best, nothing too special. I expected more flavor from the broth but it just tastes like watered down chicken broth. We also got the burnt pork ends and it was super salty. The food overall was 2/10. Service, however, was great. Very friendly and attentive :)

Joseph A.

Yelp
First and foremost, my official rating is a 4.4. My cousin got the veggie ramen with shoyu broth and got the regular strength broth. The broth was flavorful, on the mild side. The vegetable mix, mushrooms and egg were great. The mushrooms were the most memorable. The egg was good and well done. I got the jungle ramen with chashu pork. It's my favorite ramen and I get it every time. Absolutely delicious. Pork is crispy and well done. Broth is the star of the show. Spicy with a depth of flavor that can't be beat. You can't go wrong with either ramen choice here. The staff was nice and attentive and the food came out pretty quickly. Love this place and will always be a fan. Their drink selection could use improvement as there is no soda fountain or a selection of sugar free drinks. They had a lot of drinks and a cool grocery side of the store. A lot of iced tea from texas made which are great as well, but if you're looking for sugar free, it's tough. This is just a minor peeve, so it's fine. The ambience was nice, but it was quite stuffy and warm.
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place, if anyone thinks otherwise, they aren't ordering the right thing. Order The Sapporo ramen light broth, no butter, and spicy pork . Amazing.
google avatar

Basilea A.

Yelp
The service was and friendly and as warm as the food! It was very delicious! This was my first time here and everything was a perfect 10! Not to mention the low light ambience and vibe it gave! I love how it's such a small and cozy place to get some really yummy noodles
google avatar

Jessreen P.

Yelp
Two words only "THE-BEST" Tried so many ramen in town but always comes back here coz of the consistency.
google avatar

Cole T.

Yelp
A food first company. If you need ambiance, leave the number they give you on the table and walk through the mart and find foods and drinks you've never experienced. The Michi bowl with regular broth, pork belly and an added ajitama is the perfect traditional ramen bowl in my opinion. No matter what bowl you order it's the best ramen on this side of the Pacific Ocean.
google avatar

K S.

Yelp
Vibe is completely gone and the ramen was served cold and tasteless. This place will most likely be gone in a few months, and I'm super bummed because it used to be my go to for good ramen, sake, and environment. Real bummer :(
google avatar

Toby J.

Yelp
I've eaten here since I lived in Austin from 2015-2017. Every time I visit I make it a point to go. I'm glad to see the restaurant side is open again although I do miss the entire ambience of the full restaurant. The ramen hasn't changed an it is still a solid bowl of food. This is my opinion of course so take it as you will.
google avatar

Anna R.

Yelp
My husband and I have been ordering from here for a few years now and have not been disappointed yet! My husbands favorite is the Meat Lover's and mine is the Saporo Ramen. Their Broth is very flavorful and they have homemade dumplings that are mouthwatering delicious!

Anna A.

Yelp
Food was just okay. Ramen was only luke warm at best. Server was great. I told the manager (maybe owner??) about a cockroach crawling across the floor and he told me it's just an insect... someone next to me ended up having to kill it. Pretty gross. Made me worried about the state of the kitchen.

Heather S.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for years and I most definitely wouldn't recommend coming here. It's run down there's some weird store inside and the ramen was frothy and inedible! It was absolutely disgusting! I've never sent back food in my life and sadly I did today. I will never go back:(
google avatar

Craig D.

Yelp
We went for a mean, but they were closed for take out only. Popped into Side Kitsch Vintage for less than 5 Minutes and they had put a boot on my car. Even without this, I feel like the quality in service and food had drastically fallen.
google avatar

Rl E.

Yelp
Very simple straightforward meme. Good service good flavor good prices. I've gone a few times now and I'll be back a few more times in the future .
google avatar

Anna Q.

Yelp
Been coming here for 5 years now and the consistent taste, quality, and the savory broth here always keeps me coming back! Michi Ramen is my favorite ramen spot in Austin as their noodles are cooked perfectly, the portions are always so generous, and the broth is the perfect blend of savory saltiness. Compared to Ramen tatsuya, which is extremely oily and salty, and Jinya, which can be expensive and skimpy on their toppings, Michi is the all-time winner! Get the Sapporo ramen which has a creamy Miso Tonkotsu broth, served regular with pork belly or lean pork. The corn/butter is so good as a topping and really brings out the light sweetness of the broth. A unique feature of this ramen shop is you can adjust the lightness of your broth from light to stout, but I always find the regular is the perfect consistency to drink down afterwards. The atmosphere is dark and moody, and pretty intimate for dates. The restaurant has a nicely decorated exterior and interior, classically Japanese, with an outdoor patio for the warmer months. There is a lot in the back for parking, which should be easy to find. Don't skip out on good ramen in Austin! Go to Michi and you'll taste the difference.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Ramen! What's different about Michi vs ramen tatsuya is that the menu is very customizable. So, if you are a picky eater you can choose to take certain things out or add what you really like! I tried the Sapporo with the Spicy ground pork and added the egg, which was delicious!

Ambrielle L.

Yelp
Dee at the North Lamar location is always so helpful and kind, which keeps me coming back. She treats me like a friend every time I come in, not to mention the food is great! I love the "build your own" ramen aspect and this is my favorite ramen place I've found in Austin.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I really love this place. It was one of the first ramen restaurants I have tried and would definitely return.
google avatar

Joanna J.

Yelp
Food was truthfully horrific. Possibly because it was delivered? We couldn't eat it. Then gave it to the wildlife. They didn't eat it either. Always heard great things. Expensive mistake for us.

Actve C.

Yelp
Terrible service and even worse food poisoning. ordered ramen from Michi and got so sick I wasn't able to eat solid food for a week afterwards and had to go to the ER. Bring people here if you hate them.
google avatar

Adrienne C.

Yelp
Ordered the jungle for delivery via doordash and it was amazing. Spicy and flavorful, just what I needed when recovering from a cold.

Colin K.

Yelp
Just know they in no way adhere to there hours of operation. In regards to the time they say they're open until, expect them to close or refuse to answer an hour or two before that time.

Julian L.

Yelp
Ramen was tasty. It was extremely hot inside; not great for ramen-eating. And the server doesn't come to you; YOU have to go to find them
google avatar

Puja C.

Yelp
After returning from a recent trip to Japan, my husband and I craved an authentic bowl of Ramen. We polled some Austin locals and found out that anyone who's tried Michi loves it! We placed a takeout order of the Michi Ramen, Meat lovers ramen and the veggie ramen! My husband and I loved the Michi ramen and the Meat Lovers ramen! The veggie ramen was good, but not as exciting as the other two dishes! It is definitely the closest to what we had in Japan because the flavors are perfect! Also, the ramen was packaged thoughtfully and securely, we weren't worried about anything leaking! We also noticed that there is a window for pickups and a barrier between the employee and customer. They are definitely taking all the precautions to ensure the safety of their customers. We can't wait to order from them again!

Anna G.

Yelp
Disgusting dirty bathroom, no AC so we swear to death, and veggie miso broth was burnt soy sauce, and the server was flat. The veggie curry was really good but everything else made the experience unbearable.
google avatar

Blair V.

Yelp
Convenient that this place was the only ramen that was open really late in Austin and that was decent. I recommend anyone to try their fried potato appetizer. Crunchy on the outside and just like mashed potato on the inside. The drizzle of sauce adds a touch of flavor and it's addicting! Dipping broth was decent, nothing like Tatsuyas though. It could use some work, the broth seemed to be missing that extra something. However, the chashu pork belly was delicious, caramelized with nice flavors! Service was great, food came out promptly. Only wish is to add wok fired brussel sprouts on the menu! Most ramen places have it and it's great to add with the dipping broth ramen.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Solid four stars for good ramen and great service! Honestly, I have tried ramen places, but wasn't blown away enough to want to eat it again from craving it. It was a cold day so we decided to try Michi Ramen. Parking was interesting! It is on a one way area on the side of of the restaurant. I luckily found a close parking spot, but I had to reverse a bit into Lamar to back all the way out. Inside it is not as big as I had pictured in my head. Their tables are pretty close together so you will be next to other diners. Not a problem! Our server was helpful in trying to help me find the spiciest item on the menu. I went with the Miso based broth and fresh chilies to spice it up. Also, opted for the spicy pork to see if it makes it spicier. The broth had really good flavor...except just like he warned me it wasn't going to be that spicy I was hoping it would be. I didn't care since the broth was good! Yummy! I think I found a great place for ramen!

Yelp
I was excited to try out Michi Ramen during a trip to Austin, but, having recently visited Japan, I think my standards for ramen are just too high right now. It's not a bad ramen shop, but it didn't overwhelm me with amazingness. The restaurant has a very casual/next-age vibe, with some interesting artwork, including wall murals outside and in the bathroom. It was pretty dimly lit at our table during the lunch hour, which I think is part of the vibe. Also there is a bar area with two TVs in case you wanted to catch a game while there. The service was great; we arrived at opening time at 11 am and were seated quickly. All the service is done by your server on an electronic tablet; the order is made on a tablet, and after your meal the bill is paid via the tablet. My friend got the okonomi fries for an appetizer! They were pretty yummy; they were basically waffle fries (like from Chickfila!) with bonito flakes, green onions, and a yummy savory/sweet sauce on it. Would recommend. For the ramen, you choose your broth, most of which come with a choice of chasu, aka meat (diced lean pork, sliced pork belly, spicy ground pork, or diced chicken). You can also add various toppings for extra $ or extra noodles at the end if you need to top up your broth. It was very Japan in the style of ordering. The base prices were pretty comparable to that in Japan too! My husband got the Michi Ramen with pork belly for $9.95, which is the standard ramen. I tried some of his, and it was pretty tasty, with the right amount of salt and some umami. I got the Jungle Ramen with the spicy lemongrass broth for $10.95, with diced chicken. The side dish of lemon/jalapeños/cilantro was tiny, the broth sadly wasn't very deeply developed, and the noodles were a bit too firm for my liking. I wasn't unhappy with the ramen, but I didn't find myself wanting to eat more. :( Even though I wasn't blown away by the ramen at Michi Ramen, I did enjoy my experience overall. Also, I have to give props to this restaurant for their community involvement; they give you free mochi ice cream when you donate packaged, non-perishable food items!

Yelp
This is my 100th Yelp review, and it's fitting that it should be about one of my favorite restaurants in town, and my favorite Ramen restaurant ever. When I moved to Austin I had never had ramen before--aside from those little packets from my college years--and kicked it off at another local favorite. I was in love. I thought it couldn't get better. But then I found Michi, and I have never looked back. Their broth just cannot be beat, and we all know the broth is key in this amazingly versatile noodle dish. You can pick your thickness, but Stout is where it's at. The broth is lush, deep, and flavorful. I don't think any other ramen spot in town can compare. They are also the most customizable ramen bowl in town. Don't eat pork? Try the chicken broth. Vegetarian? Their non-meat broth is just as tasty. And you can build and edit your bowl however you like. In the past, the Sopporo with Stout and added egg and spice was my favorite, now I add spice and egg to the Vegetarian bowl and I love it. For those who aren't keen on ramen, you can make a meal out of the second side of the menu. From fried chicken to curry to the best loaded fries you'll ever have, everything is amazing. Bonus: their sake specials on Wednesdays, birthday mochi, and seasonal flavored sakes. Make sure you try the apple spice option before the season is over! Skip the wait at that other place, grab a delicious bowl here, and thank me later.

Yelp
Hands-down best ramen spot in Austin and even maybe the state of Texas. Ordered the michi and it came with super rich and flavorful broth. Highest quality ramen ingredients I've ever tried
