Nashville is Having a Mexican Pop-up Moment | Eater Nashville

"Taking cues from abuela’s kitchen, Mijo Gordito has been popping up at spots like Nicky’s Coal Fired and Redheaded Stranger with rustic, homestyle cooking; I especially notice the pozole verde studded with pork belly, tamales stuffed with puerco verde (slow-cooked pork with salsa verde), and chicken with mole poblano. The care shows in details: the pork butt is brined for eight hours, the chicken is seasoned with over 39 spices and herbs, and the pozole marries tomatillos, poblanos, jalapeños, cilantro, and onion slow-cooked for hours. Orders are placed via Instagram DM and pick-up locations vary." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Nicky’s Coal Fired Hosts Mexican Pop-Up Mijo Gordito for Dine-In and Takeout Tonight | Eater Nashville

"For the Mijo Gordito pop-up I see a menu spanning carnitas, pork rib, redfish tacos, shrimp ceviche, and pulpo a la diabla (spicy broth with octopus and diver sea scallop ceviche), plus one-night-only coal-fired pizzas such as a braised beef, salsa verde, and asadero cheese birria-style pie served with a dipping consomme; the pop-up runs 4–8 p.m. with dine-in and takeout options, online preorders accepted, and Nicky’s full cocktails plus a few unique creations available, and Mijo Gordito has appeared at several other locations around town over the last year — follow them on Instagram to watch for future pop-ups." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Asia and Pepe run a phenomenal business. Their food, first and foremost, is fantastic. They took into account what our parties interests were and developed a tailored menu, customized to perfection. Not only was the food great, but it was priced fairly. Asia and Pepe delivered the food to us over two consecutive days. The food was warm and ready to eat at the predetermined times. They have incredible energy and their vibes were on point to engage with their customers. I would recommend them without any reservations. They made an extremely important part of my cousins bachelor party stress free. Thank you, Mijo Gordito! -Joe Davies

Google
We have eaten their amazing one pound burritos! Last night we tried their catering and chose an Asian menu. It was perfect. They were communicative, accommodating, timely and most importantly- delicious! So grateful. Highly recommend.

Finally got a chance to try their delicious looking breakfast burritos and it didn’t disappoint. Had their homemade chorizo and the addition of their nice and spicy hot sauce was delicious!

Some of the most tasty bites in town tucked into an unassuming hole in the wall in the Shops at Fatherland. I've been wanting the bigass burrito since the moment I laid eyes on it on social media. It was everything I've dreamed of and more with tender pastor, stupid delicious rice and beans, pulled together with saucy goodness and encapsulated in a majestic cheese and jalapeño encrusted tortilla. Also got to try the mornay mac n' cheese balls. Delicious crispity crunchy outside of ooey gooey savory inside. Dipped into the tomato soup, it was delectable. I can't wait to go back and try every menu item these folks think of! On top of being taste masters, they are also gracious and warm hosts.

Yesterday I visited Mijo Gordito for the first time. I was really impressed by the creativity that went into every menu item. My best description would be a cross culture fusion of flavor doubling as a therapy session at the table. The location is perfect. The chefs obviously have a lot of talent and heart for what they do which comes across not only in their dishes but in their modus vivendi of cooking whatever feels right to them. I'm excited to keep up with them for future exciting tastings and highly recommend you check them out!

Google
Tiny hole-in-the-wall with amazing food and unapologetic staff who are gonna make what they like. Always worth eating. If you see then offering the big@$$ burrito, get it. It's amazing and will feed you all day. 🌯 🌯 🌯

I live in East and I haven’t been able to try this place. It’s never open when they say they’re going to be. I can understand the casual nature of the business, but I don’t know how you tell if they’re open. And it’s kind of a hassle to get to and park. Twice now I’ve gone and there’s an open sign in the door, but the door doors are locked. And it’s within the hours they post on Instagram…

Google
The burrito is a must obviously, everyone loves it but the best is when they surprise you with off menu items. Get a burrito but don't miss out on everything else too.

Yelp
What an honor to be the first to review such an awesome business! I came across this restaurant via Instagram. If you don't follow them, do it now! They have the funniest and sassiest captions. The food on their page looked so good so I dragged my sister out to find this spot! Their hours vary, so make sure you check their social media to see when they're available and what the menu is for the day. We ended up ordering 2 al pastor burritos, the crab rangussy, and the summer rolls. The burritos were HUGE! My sister and I shared 1 burrito and my boyfriend attempted at finishing one during one sitting, but he was defeated and almost passed out from a food coma. Everything tasted amazing and it definitely seemed like the food was made by someone who truly enjoys what they're doing. Make sure you check them out when they're open, because they do sell out!

Yelp
Mijo Gordito is one of Nashvilles hidden gems and I am not mad about it because they make some of the best food in town. Pro tip # 1 - they are not open all of the time, gotta follow them on social media (Instagram - peep their stories for drops/open times etc). Pro tip # 2 - everything is excellent and we have not literally had a bad meal from them EVER. They are very accommodating with food allergies ( I am allergic to avocado) and they make it happen for me with no issues. They also do catering which my wife and I fully plan on taking advantage of (part of the reason they do not keep standard hours). Pro tip # 3 - they have limited area inside the storefront BUT they have a delightful shared courtyard to eat yo food. No pictures - because we suck and eat all of the food before we think of it. Get Mijo, no ragerts.

Yelp
Everything I've had here is top notch. The burger is incredible and the creativity with all of their dishes makes this a must stop and try location.

Yelp
Not only some of the best food that I have found in TN, but some of the best food that I've had period. Local family owned place where you can tell they put their heart and soul into everything they make. Their offerings are always changing so make sure you check out their instagram page where they post menus and updates often.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I got the burrito and it was the best burrito I've ever had. It's the size of a small child and totally great to split or have to yourself!! The owners are amazing and super welcoming and friendly.
