Ok, where to start… this is hands down the best Happy Hour I’ve come across!! Plum wine was just one of the sweetest softest I’ve had, perfect way to pair the food, first time trying it but now I want to get one for home. Fish tacos were crispy and tasty. Cucumber salad had me wanting more and more, edamame just the right amount for me $1?? Just insane. My fav roll were the shrimp tempura and also the Kani. Make sure to get the Harumaki if you want one more addition to your dinner! Amazing place, with good ambiance, friendly staff and easy to find location. Will definitely comeback soon, new favorite gem.

We were sat in a different part from the previous times I’d gone before, and I gotta say I liked it more. The back seating area is a bit more comfortable in space and seating. Like always the food was 10/10, super delicious! We got Crispy Rice, Spicy Tuna roll, Spicy Salmon, the tacos and the peppers. All very good! My friends and I have dubbed the Mikado on 14th as our Catch Up Spot. Always a good time.

Great food, atmosphere, and service. The staff is very attentive and efficient. I love to stop in before work for the happy hour for a quick bite and some sake. Definitely try the sushi tacos! Looking forward to my next visit!

Incredible experience. Sushi (and apps! and drinks!) are delicious and well priced - rolls are generously filled with fish. Everything is clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Maria, our waitress, was absolutely wonderful. She handled our walk-in group of 14 with ease, taking each of our individual orders with grace and humor. If I were ever to open a restaurant, she would be my first hire! And I can’t forget to mention the ambiance - such a cozy setting, perfect for anything from happy hour with friends or date night. Definitely don’t miss out on Mikado!

If you want a minimalistic atmosphere with great food, this is the spot. Honestly came here for the first time because I was craving Japanese flavors. I just came out of work and have been up since 4:30am. It is now 13 hours later and was worth the walk in. The sake was great and comes in gorgeous handmade vessels. The sushi tacos were so cute and have great flavor. The service was fast and diligent. The Tuna ball…. Let me tell you…. This ball has so much flavor I wish I had just a plate of them. Overall will come back again… dresses up and maybe with friends who can appreciate good food. Thank you Mikado.

Oh, Lord! Delicious menu. The sushi melts in your mouth. The quality of the fish is fresh and smooth. The service is great: attentive, friendly, and professional. The interior of the restaurant is a calm and serene palette, aesthetically pleasing. A must!!!!!🥰🍣

Egregious bartending. I ordered a drink called the Lexington with listed ingredients soju, ribena, lemon, & sparkling water. I saw the bartender use classic club vodka and dubouchett peach schnapps instead of soju. When asked about this, the bartender simply said they’re the same. Clearly they are not and quite offensive (Korean). Bartender remade the drink using peach soju and it tasted completely different from using vodka/schnapps. Based on the response, I suspect this may be common practice here. The hand rolls and karaage were quite good for the price point.

I came here because of a TikTok I saw about their happy hour. The restaurant was beautiful and they were able to seat us without a wait on a Saturday at 4:30. We ordered happy hour drinks, appetizers and rolls. The drink was good but strong. The sushi tacos were a real stand out and a great value. The happy hour sushi roll is only 4 pieces but seemed nice and fresh. But a little smaller than we thought they would be. Would go back.

Went in on a weekday for their lunch special which is sooo worth!! The rolls are sizeable with large chunks of fresh fish. There was no wait to be seated and the ambiance was quite nice. Service is also quick and efficient, will def be coming back if I'm ever craving sushi

Came here a bit last minute and was confused; they were booked out for reservations however when calling the restaurant we were notified that they had an open table available for us. We ordered the below- Caviar Dumplings Truffle Mushroom Bacon Fried Rice 2x Maki Roll Sets Service wasn't exceptional and this is definitely one of those spots that has a 70-80% fish to rice ratio where they put more fish inside the roll, which I know majority of people like. Like any restaurant trying to survive in the city, the lunch menu is exponentially cheaper than the dinner menu so if you do want to take a dip and trial this place out, then I'd recommend either capitalizing on their happy hour/lunch menus.

Came here on HH from Meg's tiktok and was blown away!! The prices on the HH menu were ranging from $1-$6 and you would think since it's so low the quality would be low too but it's far from it. The rice to fish ratio was perfect!!! The cucumber salad also surprised me. Although so simple, we loved the sesame sauce that came with it! Dip your rolls and edamame in it 10/10

The best place for lunch if you're in the Union Square area! My friend and I met here for lunch and shared the 4 roll combo and an unagi don. Their rolls are extremely fresh and everything came out super fast. The place is pretty full during lunch time and there was also a bunch of people waiting for their lunch orders. Really cute interior, would be a really cute date spot as well!

Would definitely recommend as a elevated dining experience for lunch or dinner - super cute date spot or even for a client dinner! The staff was super friendly and sweet to my party of 4, including two kids under 10. The only thing that was frustrating was that the only other party that was there midday on a Monday were seated RIGHT next to us, a party of 2 at a 4 top which seemed a bit silly and loud for no reason. We got 4 rolls, edamame, the sushi tacos, and the matcha cheesecake! All really decent portions, especially the sushi. I'll definitely be back to try the lunch special.

I came for the happy hour and will definitely be coming back!!! Everything was such a good price and the quality was so fresh! The vibe of the restaurant was very chill and welcoming. The servers were very nice as well. When I am back in the city, I will be coming back here!

The fish to rice ratio was amazing! You get four pieces of a roll for 6 bucks which was surprisingly worth it since the pieces were big and there was a lot of fish. I also really liked the Sushi Tacos and they had a great crunch. The happy hour deals are unbeatable. My fear is that this place has been getting very popular and that the prices will go up soon. The beer bottle was $3 and the Sake was $5. The restaurant is also very big and spacious. They are quite busy during happy hour so the server wasn't very attentive and you had to flag them down sometimes if you needed something. Overall I would give it a 4.5

Delivery Container was awesome. Simple rolls may be slightly preferred over the special rolls for taste. Spicy Mayo on the side was great. Would order again.

Mikado offers fantastic lunch specials between 11-3:30. I almost don't want to share this hidden gem. Fresh sushi, donburi and bento boxes are all great prices. I ordered Kaisen Don which had salmon, hamachi, tuna and salmon roe over rice. Loved it! Fresh ingredients, flavorful options and nice relaxed atmosphere, make it solid choice for a quick, delicious lunch. If you are looking for Japanese food without breaking the bank, I highly recommend. I must come back for other dishes & "Happy Hour"!

Solid Japanese food! I got the hand roll set which came with 4 rolls! I upgraded 3 of them (all except the wagyu uni) and it was so good!! We also got the Yuzu salmon salad which was more salmon than salad which was awesome! We also tried both desserts, the ice cream and cheesecake. I think the ice cream was mid but cheesecake was delicious!

Sushi tacos at happy hour between four and seven, or not to be missed. A very bustling place with many sushi entrées and fast service. Prices are moderate, and the place has a fun vibe.

Came for dinner and it was great! Generous portions in the salmon bowl. Miso cod could used a bit more sauce but was lovely. The texture of the rice is amazing. Great service, nice ambiance. Maria was also super nice!

This place is one of the best happy hours in the city. Cheap wine, beer and sake, super quick and friendly service, HUGE sushi rolls that were delicious, and a cute, intimate date night feel. I'll definitely be back again for an insane deal ($80 including tip for three rolls per person, edamame, shumai, and two drinks each!)

My boyfriend and I went for happy hour (~5:30 PM) on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. The waiting area is quite spacious, and the overall vibe was modern. We ordered a bunch of items off the happy hour menu: sushi taco, edamame, cucumber salad, plum wine, spicy crunchy kani roll, salmon avocado roll, yellowtail roll, eel and cucumber roll, and shrimp tempura roll. We also got a miso soup. Overall, the food was quite delicious for its value. There were three sushi tacos with different types of fish. The small bowl of edamame (for $1!) was great for snacking. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad were crunchy and drizzled with dressing that resembled sesame and peanut dressing. Each of the rolls came with four pieces which is a fair amount for $6 in New York. My favorite was the yellowtail roll and my boyfriend's was the salmon and avocado roll. The miso soup was warm and delicious on a cold winter day. I think the restaurant falls short on service. I was not very impressed by the happy hour menu that had soy sauce previously spilt on it previously. It was dried by the time I got the menu, but I think that it would be better if they had recycled it. Our soy sauce jar only had a couple drops left and there were no servers in sight to ask for more (or when they were around, they were focused on their task and couldn't see us trying to get their attention). I would say that Mikado does an amazing happy hour with great value. Perhaps in the future, I'd revisit this restaurant to try out their lunch and dinner menu.

I got the Alaska, tuna and salmon sushi rolls. All of them were good and tasty. The wasabi seemed to be better quality than some other sushi places.

The food was amazing, along with the service (the receptionist and the waiter in the white shirt with the brown apron were so fine), the whole getup is amazing with the lights and decoration.

They have an amazing happy hour! The sushi rolls are only $6 and even though they come in 4 pieces, each piece is fairly big. We got the yellowtail roll, spicy tuna crunchy roll, spicy salmon crunchy roll, salmon avocado roll, shrimp tempura roll, tuna roll, salmon roll and the shrimp shumai. They were all very good!! My favorite was the spicy salmon crunchy roll. We also got some sake to share. We got our food pretty quickly. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Totally worth it!

Such a good happy hour deal! Drinks: I got a glass of white wine, red wine, and sake. My husband got the asahi beer. Food: we got the edamame, pork gyoza, sushi taco, and then for our rolls we got-- spicy crunchy salmon, spicy crunchy tuna, salmon avocado, eel cucumber, yellowtail, & tuna avocado. Each roll for happy hour comes out with 4 pieces. Overall the food and drinks were both good! Was it the best wine and freshest fish I've ever had, no. But I truly don't think you can find better prices.

I hate to say this but my experience here was pretty mediocre. While the service was prompt and it was fairly easy to make a reservation, the sushi was just okay. I ordered the Yellowtail Jalepeno nigiri and the unagi nigiri. Both were delicious but I didn't love the crab hand-roll. On a positive note, the restaurant was modern and chic!

A number nice Japanese restaurant with good sushi and nice cooked dishes. It is relatively inexpensive with very good fish. Service is nice and it is nice ambiance.

Was thrilled to find such affordable happy hour deals especially in an expensive city like NYC! I made a 5:45pm reservation on a Sunday to enjoy their HH deals but there wasn't a wait anyway. There's ample seating in this moody, upscale environment. Service was friendly but not super attentive due to the restaurant becoming busier and busier through our experience. Portions were small as pictured, but my party of 3 was still happily fed with $68 worth of food including tax and tip, as pictured! Wasn't the tastiest food ever, but I would still come back.

It's hard to find a Japanese restaurant in Manhattan with such good happy hour deals! $1 edamame, $3 beer, and $6 sushi rolls. The sushi was 4 pieces per roll, but they were of amazing quality. The tuna and salmon were so fresh, and my favorite was the spicy crunchy kani roll. The sushi tacos ($5) were also delicious. I am definitely coming back for the happy hour! The interior is elegant and beautifully decorated. The staff are extremely friendly, and the service is fast.

Solid to go spot-- sushi was fresh, but I wish they gave a bit more ginger! The soup hit the spot and the chicken appetizer was a smidge soggy (very much could be due to the rain outside)-- need to come in person! Cheers!

The happy hour is great for the price. The quality is pretty good. I personally would prefer 6 smaller pieces over 4 large pieces but otherwise, no complaints. I went around 5:30 on a weekday and was seated immediately. The inside is very clean and sleek. Would come again for happy hour :)

3.5 stars rounding down to 3. Service is great and the ambiance is a vibe and charming, but the quality of the fish compared to other competitive sushi restaurants is not up to par. I did really enjoy the yuzu salmon salad and the matcha cheesecake.

A group of us sat down for Happy hour last week (HH window is 4-7) and had a really lovely (and economical) time. One of our friends regularly orders their catering platters but she had never been inside so she organized the outing. The restaurant is smack in the middle of the village, right on 14 st so it's super convenient. Apparently it had relocated to this spot, and it's a nice modernized space with some design-ey touches. We ordered exclusively from the Happy Hour menu, which generously lists a variety of alcoholic beverages (beer $3, cocktails $7) and a bunch of apps and sushi rolls. We ordered a few rounds of drinks as well as a bunch of apps (shrimp shumai and veg gyoza) and rolls. Food was good, fresh, and we really enjoyed the upscale ambience. We were pleased with our drinks overall (yuzu lemonade was maybe a bit sweet for me) and the amazing deal. Definitely one of the better HH deals in the city ATM.

The prices are good for lunch specials, but the sushi isn't great. There was too much filling and it was hefty. Dessert was good though! I might come back for the hot entrees instead.

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Monday night. Their happy hour is from 3pm to 6:30pm. $3 beers, $5 wines, $6 sushi rolls, and other great deals on appetizers/food (as of Nov '24). I had the cucumber salad ($3) and an eel-cucumber roll ($6). Affordable and delicious. The inside of the restaurant is really nice and above what I would expect for the prices. I would definitely come back!

I loved this restaurant. Would recommend and go again. Great staff. Sophia and the chef and waitress were amazing . The caviar topped dumplings were too die for. Crispy rice good n tasty. The deluxe set and salmon avacado roll, spicy yellow tail roll and salmon kura don all had fresh, buttery fish. The eel was yummy. The mango redbean icecream delicious.

What a wonderful place. The music and ambiance was peaceful and made me relax. I enjoyed the good food, compliments to the chef. The mixed fish sushi was delicious. Wish I could come here more often.

First time I ordered for pickup from Mikado. I had trouble finding the place because the street outside was under renovation. I ordered the any 3 rolls (Eel avocado roll and 2 Salmon avocado roll) and Japanese fried rice with chicken. Everything was fresh. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. Note: Similar to previous review, I found their chopsticks to be high quality and kept them after the meal.

Came here one day with a big group of 9 people and surprisingly we were seated immediately. Right off the bat, super good ambiance and gives off a classy vibe. The food came pretty quickly and it was all delicious. I personally ordered the handroll set and everything was so good. There was a lot of meat which I really liked. Additionally a friend got the cucumber salad to share and it was delicious as well. Everything was wonderful and it was honestly a surprise because I thought this place was a hole in the wall. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice date spot and I will be back!

oh my goodness. best happy hour you can get in the city. I came in from seeing a tik tok displaying how cheap it was for happy hour. I mean the prices were insane! i got the cucumber salad, it was great. I also got two rolls of sushi, they were fresh and delicious. I also tried the shrimp shumai, they came with a lot more than I expected but soo good. Service was fast and I sat at the bar and food came out super fast as well. Inside the decor was so pretty and clean. I will definitely be coming back!

we went to mikado for happy hour bc we heard their prices were super good for what it's worth! it was $6 for 4 pieces which we thought was kind of on the pricier side. the viral tiktoks lied to us (or we just have different definitions on cheap) anyways, besides the price point, the sushi was very delicious! our favorites were the spicy salmon crunchy roll. the flavor was great and the crunch added texture! we also got edamame (which was $1!!) and cucumber salad ($3). solid appetizers! spicy salmon crunchy roll: 9/10 everything else: 8/10

I met up with my sister around 5:45pm for happy hour. The menu is simple and lots of choices. We got the edamame, shrimp shumai, gyoza as starters. My sister ordered the plum wine and it was quite sweet. We also order some sushi - spicy crunchy Kami, spicy crunchy salmon, shrimp tempura and sweet potato. It turned out to be a lot of food for the two of us. It was good for a quick early dinner and prices were reasonable.

Updated review on Mikado's customer service: Great customer service! Owner had reached out to me personally to apologize about my experience and to let me know that the restaurant is in the midst of upgrading to be like the Brooklyn location. He did offer me a refund and did not ask for me to change or update my review. I wanted to give an update because I really commend their customer service.

Had such a lovely time at Mikado! My friend and I got 3 rolls for $17 lunch special. Their lunch menu is really great! The sushi was delicious. We also got the Yuzo cheesecake. It was so pretty and also delicious! I got the green tea, which was also really delicious. The service is great! The waitress was helpful and trying to figure out what to order. The ambience is so nice! It is decorated very well. Lots of flowers, trees, and has a rustic feel. Highly recommend!

Great deal for happy hour with cheap edamame and rolls. The rolls are abnormally large though and is too much for 1 bite. Interior was also nicer than expected!

I went for the Friday night happy hour, I sat at the bar, I don't even think they had seating at tables, was rather packed at 5PM. Everything was great, no complaints. Beer on tap would have been cool. I thought the sushi would come out as a cut of six from the roll. It was four, no complaints on them, they had lots of fish, tasted great, but were rather large, and was expecting six cuts. I would suggest this place, it is cool, odd that it was so packed on an early hour of Friday, maybe the happy hour specials. Check it out! PS Cool plates/dishes as you can see in the photo -- looked handmade and unique.

This was my go to sushi lunch spot (daily) when I worked at 28 Liberty in NYC. At first, I put off by their four-piece roll servings--thinking it might be like a cheap trick to charge full price for less fish--but I quickly discovered that each piece is significantly larger than your average sushi piece. Not only are the portions satisfying, but the quality and flavor are on point. If you like sushi, this spot is a good go-to for lunch. The prices are comparable to the grocery/take away sushi available in the area (Hessia). Much more affordable than Blue Ribbon. Also, the ambiance and decor is nice, would be a decent place to try for happy hour, but I've never been after lunch. Recommended!

LOVED this place in Chelsea (14th St. between 6 & 7th Avenues). The food was fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. We shared the Hand Roll/Maki Roll Set, where we chose 4 different hand rolls to share (they were large & yummy!). We also shared the Cheese Chicken Katsu Don, which was crispy friend chicken pieces w/ a cheese & egg sauce with pickled onions and scallion over rice + the Salmon Ikura Don, both which were excellent and huge! Two firsts for us were the Kizakura Kyoto Matcha IPA (it was green & delicious!) and the red bean ice cream for dessert, which tasted like an excellent vanilla, kind of with a earthy caramel flavor it that was subtle. The other two things that made the meal great was our really funny & kind server who made sure we didn't order TOO MUCH food and the atmosphere, which was also great. We will definitely be going back!

I ordered delivery from Mikado and there was a discrepancy between what they advertised and what I got. I ordered the Mikado set, which is pictured with 9 sushi pieces and 6 pieces of a california roll on the Door Dash menu. When I got the delivery, it had 8 sushi pieces and 4 pieces of a scallion roll. It was also missing the Miso soup I ordered with it. When I called to complain, the woman on the phone rudely told me (practically yelled at me) to call Door Dash. When I asked to speak to a manager, she told me the manager wasn't there and would call the next day. That didn't happen. The Mikado set is $38, which is pretty expensive. Given that each piece of sushi can cost $6 to $8, missing a few pieces feels like a serious oversight. They also never addressed the fact that I didn't get my miso soup. The meal I received (and ate) was pretty flimsy. Furthermore, they used to have a sushi deluxe I used to order, which was much cheaper ($31), had more pieces of sushi, and was a much more satisfying meal. That's no longer on the menu. I'd recommend ordering from Marumi (which actually is a Japanese restaurant, unlike Mikado) or Umami Sushi, who still have an equivalent of sushi deluxe for a fair price and relatively similar quality. I used to like ordering delivery from Mikado, they package things well, but the combination of false advertising, high price, rude reception, and failure to remedy the situation on this order is a dealbreaker.

This is one of my favorite sushi spots! I get the the 2 sushi lunch box! I like the Godzilla roll and Tokyo roll

Great energy from the staff who were also super attentive. We were seated right away. They have great happy hour deals for food and drinks. Everything was so delicious. We tried the sushi tacos (2 plates), cucumber salad, edamame, two sushi rolls, yuzu margarita, and high ball. I would absolutely get it all again! Will 100% come again!

My new favorite take out sushi spot! They are featured on Uber Eats with some promotions to draw business in and I'm so glad I tried it. There are very few good quality non-chain sushi spots in FiDi and you can appreciate the care they put into preparing each nigiri, roll, and dessert

Amazing happy hour!! They have extensive drink, appetizer, and sushi options (bonus: vegetarian friendly!). The service was incredibly quick, and the servers were kind and funny. I went with a large group and they happily accommodated us and even gave us mochi on the house! 10/10 recommend

we got sushi delivered tonight. just not good. so much sugar in all the dressings and sauces. The fake crab tasted old and fishy. We are sushi officianados and we're hoping by the reviews for a better experience.
