Yelp
This review was at the Mila Omakase room but for a pop-up dinner with Dominique Crenn, the first and only 3 star female Michelin Chef in the United States. I have not been able to get a reservation at her Atelier Crenn in my visits to San Francisco so I jumped at the chance to see her here in Miami. Even though the price was over $1,200 per person with tax, tip, wine, it was well worth it for the opportunity to spend time with Dominique and a small handful of diners. The regular Omakase here is only about $260 pp +++ and I hear it is excellent.
I realize that you will probably not have the opportunity to have another dinner here with Dominique but you might be interested in coming here for the Omakase. The culinary director here has been responsible for and worked at Michelin restaurants in France, Monaco, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, having spent 12 years with the Robuchon group. He insures the quality of the food at the Omakase and in the restaurant is something you will not be disappointed with.
Mila is a multi venue restaurant, roof terrace, separate club and private members only club. Mila Omakase is in a room for only 10-12 people located downstairs from the main restaurant and next to the private club bar. Private club membership is $5,000 I believe, but you can go to the Omakase without being a member. The former Sommelier from Thomas Keller's Surf Club presides over the wine list here.
Mila has become one of the most successful restaurants not only in South Florida but in the US. The reason for it is they hit all the right notes, venue, atmosphere, food quality and presentation, cocktails, wines, service, entertainment. There is something for everyone, as long as you have some credit cards with decent credit lines, lol. Reservations are mandatory, and hard to come by especially on weekends. They do not want people to come only for a drink and an appetizer to enjoy the view and entertainment. They want patrons who enjoy great food, wine, cocktails, spirits and are not on a budget. Do not think about walking in without a reservation unless you are a Super Model.
