20 Chicago Restaurants With Holiday Specials - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This brewery has three different packages available and, to be honest, we want all three. There’s a $150 seafood tower that comes with shrimp, ceviche, crab claws, lobster, and caviar; a $100 charcuterie and cheese tower; or a $50 pizza and beer party." - adrian kane

Chicago Issues 30 Citations to Businesses for Violating Mask Mandate | Eater Chicago

"A La Grange brewery that opened in December and held a pandemic-delayed grand opening in July, it bills itself as the suburb's first brewery and places strong emphasis on its kitchen: menu highlights include a gulf shrimp tartine with kimchi butter, corn dogs made with on-site sausages, and wood-fired oysters with mignonette granita. While reviewers praise a funky lager and a thick milk stout, critics say the food quickly outshines the beers and even compare the operation favorably to Chicago's Michelin-recognized brewpubs, suggesting it deserves broader acclaim." - Naomi Waxman

Good mix of high top, low top and bar seating. They have a mix of beers on tap, many with a local flair. You can get a good view of the bright tanks and other brewing equipment. There's a party room towards the back of the house. The food is good, although we just had one small appetizer.

Had lunch here before heading to Brookfield Zoo. Milk Money has a welcoming staff and atmosphere in a friendly area. We sat outside and although the traffic was noisy it was very pleasant. We had the Street Crab Corn for an appetizer, the Lobster Roll and the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich for main dishes. The Buffalo chicken is absolutely the best I’ve ever had. Right amount of spice and crispiness. Their Vibrant IPA and guest beer Booter from Blind Corner Brewery were delicious (my wife and I are IPA lovers). Highly recommend this place if you want quality food, beer, and experience.

Google
My husband and I have been coming here for years and if I’m being honest, it didn’t start as my favorite place. That being said, it’s easily one my favorites now. First let’s start with Sarah their GM; simply fantastic! She has been there as long as I can remember and my husband, who worked in the industry for over decade, comments about how awesome she is; she makes you feel like a regular every time you walk in. Then the food and atmosphere are second to none in the area. As a mother with a young family, I appreciate how it can be a terrific place for adult date night before catching a movie across the street, which also serves their beer, and a place for us to bring our two year old. I can’t recommend this place enough and they are constantly doing things in the community which make it fun, exciting and let you know they care.

Google
Good food, a little too much fried food but decent quality. We asked server for 2 new limes for our drinks because the rind was brown and came back saying the bar wouldn’t let her. Later to order another round of drinks we asked for a menu and the waitress pointed to the QR code on the table, and seemed put out to go get us one 15 feet away ($17 for a 6 oz wine which turned me off). My husband’s wine arrived in a cracked glass. We all would have ordered another round if it was reasonably priced. It’s a good way to turn people off and out the door.

Google
We planned to meet our son there for his birthday on November 2nd. We got there early, went in to check it out because we hadn't been there before. The smell of fried fish was overwhelming. Went somewhere else. We could not have sat in there for 2 hours. Sorry, looks like a cool place.

Janalee C.

Google
They make their own beer. We sat right by the big garage door, which was open for lots of fresh air. Love music. Friendly staff. Really e.joyed their nachos.

Google
I expected more from this brewery. We got a table right away, but when we were ready to order, none of the servers were around. We waited for 15mins without being greeted. I was close to just getting up and going to a different brewery. The beer was average. I asked for a mexican lager they had listed on the menu, but it wasn't available. I ordered calamari, which was pretty awful. Way too fishy. I'm definitely staying away from this place. Just the service alone made me not want to go back.

Keith M.

Google
Nice place with some great beers. Beertender was cool, knowledgeable, and answered my questions. Didn't try any food there, but I'd imagine the menu had several things I would have ordered had I wanted food. Even took something home until my next visit. Parking could be an issue, by I found something just a block away.

Yelp
There are two restaurants that our family frequents in Downtown La Grange and Milk Money Brewing is one of them! We have tried several items: 1) Fried taquitos 2) Roasted Brussel Sprouts and cauliflower* 3) Barbecue wings 4) MMB nachos 5) Crispy pig sandwich with fries* 6) Smoked brisket sandwich with fries* 7) Lobster sliders with fries* 8) Pizza with provolone, mozzarella, and pepperoni* 9) Chicken and waffles* The ones marked with an asterisks are some of the items that we would normally repeat. In fact, the pizza is almost always a must-order for our girls. Service is attentive and friendly. The environment is incredibly family-friendly. They have a section in the back that is divided from the rest of the dining room and it is equipped with children toys. We have yet to make use of the room but it looks like the kids were having a great time whenever we passed by.

Yelp
The inside opens up to the outside, so you are immersed into downtown LaGrange. Cute spot! I liked the Nashville shrimp with polenta, although they went heavy on the polenta and shrimp could have more seasoning. Cheese curds were tasty. Pretty reasonable prices for food, I would try it again. Service was okay, but very nice server. I would give 3.5 stars overall.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
Stopped in while in the area. On a Saturday afternoon the place was busy. They had a nice variety of beer, my husband had a Tres Amigos a Mexican lager, which he enjoyed. He also ordered the cheese curds. Service was not good. My husband ended up ordering at the bar, because our server was nowhere to be found. It took along time to get the cheese curds, but they were very good. Overall, service needs to be improved.

Yelp
The ambiance was very nice- casual, clean and good energy. There food was also surprisingly delicious for a bar/brewery. My lobster sliders were really good- the lobster seemed fresh, the sauce wasn't heavy and the buns were steamed perfectly. The only issue was poor service. I think they are really short staffed, and need to hire more people during busy hours to help manage the volume.

Yelp
Modern clean lines with a marble bar top. They offer food and even a brunch on Sunday.

Yelp
Stopped in and had a beer. Clean and well run. It's a friendly place with screens and food, The front windows open up to give a nice indoor outdoor fee. It's in downtown, nice for lunch or to catch a snack before heading to a movie.

Yelp
Enjoyed this brewery. There were some children, but not too many, as some reviews suggest. I also disagree that it is overpriced. all restaurants are expensive now, but this restaurant is within an acceptable price range. The food was good. The wife had the MMB Burger, which she liked. The Cobb salad was also good, but heavy on the bacon, not necessarily a bad thing. The Oktoberfest beer was my favorite and she liked the On the Porch. We agreed that the LaGrange Lager needed more flavor. The service was good and I would go back.

Yelp
Stopped in after a day at the zoo. It's a cute little place with several tables and a bar (a few tvs if you're looking to watch a game). There was a good selection of different beers so we got 2 flights to try. The stouts were great on a cold day! The food was unexpectedly delicious too. I wasn't sure what to expect because I didn't look at a menu ahead of time but they have a great selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Our waitress was attentive and personable on a busy afternoon. Great place to stop in if you're in the area!

Yelp
Checked out this pretty hip looking brewery in LaGrange. It blasts the hipster alternative music so they're so cool, aren't they? Milk Money also happens to have beer, which seems like an afterthought in this brewery but whatever. Besides trying to make the hipster vibes, it makes a few beers and has food. Things are overpriced. A loud scene in here is what to expect. It's a pretty happening place. There's a bar along with many tables. Hip modern look. Lots of metallic and white. Also it seems to be family friendly. Lots of kids running and screaming. As for the beers, they're okay. It's about $8 a pint. That's kind of a lot, especially since many are from other breweries and not by them. Among the ones by them is the On The Porch. This is a wit bier, pretty smooth. Among the food are healthy options. It's about $12 for a salad. The Fennel Salad is good for vegetarians. Has fruit. This is arugula with apples, fennel, pecans, radish, and watermelon. Good but there wasn't much. This is more like a side item as far as portions. Great drinks and food here. It's just overpriced. There's also small portions so it's even more of a ripoff, but the salads are healthy and whatever.

Yelp
Cute location and family friendly. My issue came when we asked for tab and were charged more for a beer flight than what was on menu. Price on menu was $15 for flight and was charged $23. We mentioned it and got some round about answer saying the price changed. Won't be going back. I know it was only a few bucks, but it was the principle.

Yelp
My co-worker and I found this place exploring the area and I am so glad we did. Shout out to Bruce our bartender, who answered our questions and wasn't pushy about anything. For a place that you could tell had a lot of "regulars" he made us feel like we fit right in. The place is really cool and perfect for families too. They have a couple tvs on the bar and in a sitting area off the bar along with shuffleboard and mini arcade games. They opened in 2020 and not only are the beers refreshing and delicious but the food slaps. I always admire a brewery that can put out quality food. The Cuban Sandwich I would put on par with some I have had in Orlando and the Pistachio Tres Leche was...yup sorry to say it moist and delicious. The next time I am in the area, I will come back. If you are local or stopping through give these guys a visit!

Yelp
Our family loves this restaurant in La Grange. The service, food, and gluten-free options are great. My husband enjoys the beer, while I enjoy the root beer.

Yelp
Milk Money always makes you feel right at home with their personable service and quality food & drink options. The indoor and outdoor sidewalk patio in the summertime also offers a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere once you enter the space. More than just a brewpub, it offers some eclectic food options while offering a full bar as well. Good to sit down at the bar and watch some sports, or, sit with a group and have a full meal! We recently worked with Ashley and John to coordinate my wife's 40th birthday which took place in their semi-private party room, and, everything went off without a hitch! Their entire crew that night was attentive and served some great food for us as well. A worthy stop for anyone in and around the LaGrange area!

Yelp
Cute environment and great service!! Loved the selection of beers to choose from! Tried the flight ( 4 for $15-- amazing deal!!) will definitely return to try more!

Yelp
This is a cool spot for dinner and drinks in LaGrange. I sat with friends inside but right next to the outdoor area on a nice summer evening. I tried the La Grange Lager, Brightside IPA, and Vibrant Hazy IPA, they were all different and delicious. The MMB Burger is a good size if you're hungry; I wish there were more French fries with it. The cheese curds are a delicious starter. Service was friendly and consistent. Parking is easy to find in the nearby garage on Harris.

Bill S.

Yelp
Took the wife there last weekend and holy cow stay away. We saw 3 mice running around. Brought it up to the server and they made a comment every restaurant gets them. We paid our bill and left and never going back.
google avatar

Mud B.

Yelp
Super clean. Server was excellent. Daily specials. We all really enjoyed our food. Large variety of appetizers. Big menu for a brewery restaurant. Right in the heart of downtown La Grange. Park in the parking garage if you don't find street parking. The garage is right behind the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Milk Money Brewing is too cool for downtown Lagrange, but I still appreciate its' presence nonetheless. It's a local brewery with great drinks on tap, good cocktails, and yummy food. I happen to go there during sunset and it was brutal through the glass window, but that isn't so much their fault, just be mindful of the time of day. It's a family friendly place too, so feel free to bring your kids to get some food as well. I'd definitely recommend them!
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
Had a great time here. I had a dry apple beer/sour along with their street burger. Wasn't greasy (yuck!) or overloaded with condiments like I see at most places lately. I recommend it! It wasn't crowded. They have outdoor seating on the sidewalk, so when they open the garage door, you get a nice breeze inside. The ambiance is great, the food is great, and the service was great. I think it was the owner (?), anyway, he shut the garage door halfway when it started to rain. I appreciate it!

Philip M.

Yelp
The beer was good and the food was great. Nice little find in the La Grange neighborhood. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Yelp
Quality brewery/restaurant located right on the main strip of LaGrange. It has a wide variety with a specialty in pale ales (at least I feel so) and a solid food menu. I've gotten the burger, which is a great deal, and then some smaller dishes- a pizza square and grilled octopus taco, not bad, just small. I've had several beers over the 2 years I've been coming here, and all are really good. They sell several of them in 4 packs. They have bar seating or tables. On Monday nights, there's trivia done in the back area. There's a small parking lot just north of the building, but it may fill up fast. If not you can do metered street parking, or park in the garage behind. I always keep an eye out for new beers on tap and whenever there is I make a point to come check them out.

Madison J.

Yelp
This place was awesome. Live music, lots of open air, great beer and food. Perfect way to spend an afternoon.
google avatar

Yelp
This was my second visit. The first was a year ago and the food was fantastic but the service was terrible. Decided to give them another shot today and the service was still terrible but now so is the food. The Cuban sandwich had more pickles than meat. Pricing is also insane. Willing to pay for good food or service and they have neither.
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped in to try some beer. Cool vibe and great beer. We shared a few and I recommend any of the hazy ipa. At time of visit they only had 2 kinds of beer available in 4 packs of cans. Thankfully my favorite beer was available. They also offer crowlers. Fun little place.
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
Came here with a friend to enjoy some good ol' beers. They had live music which was a great touch since they played some great past hits. Place is kid and dog friendly. Arrived early for seating then after 3 hours it was a full house. Didn't know it would get packed but still easy to hear and speak to your party. Service was good. Also easy free garage parking around the corner.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
We actually went to a brewery and didn't try the beer, but the Mildly Inappropriate cocktail was fantastic. It is a Butter-Washed Old Fashioned with bourbon, smoked maple syrup, and bitters. Everyone loved it!
google avatar

JazIv I.

Yelp
Update: they have sooo many good cocktails and new beers. The Oaktoberfest one is my favorite. The redemption cocktail is highly recommended if you like mezcal.
google avatar

Yelp
The wait staff was friendly and very helpful. But at times, our server would disappear. Not really an issue as another server took our order. We started with the Cheese Curds. I got the Belgian Quad for a drink. Both were outstanding. The quad was pretty potent. I took my time and enjoyed it though my whole meal. The cheese curds had a nice light and crispy exterior. They were served with a remoulade which had a nice kick to it. Not crazy spicy, just a little heat. For dinner, we split the Street Burger and the Shrimp Po Boy. I loved the Po Boy. The shrimp were juicy and crispy. The remoulade and pickles offset each other perfectly. Would definitely recommend the Po Boy. The Street Burger was decent. I think I've been spoiled by other places when it comes to burgers. I thought the meat was dry. I don't feel like I really got a flavor or impression from the Bacon jam. Not sure if it wasn't there or there wasn't much on my half of the burger. I don't think I'd recommend the burger. There's definitely better places to get a burger. After seeing other tables get the Crab Tostada, Buffalo chicken sandwich, and the Cuban, I have order regret. They looked excellent, but I can't speak to how they taste. I'm definitely willing to come back and try other beers and food.
google avatar

Crystal N.

Yelp
We had a great time here and I thought the brewery aesthetic was quite cut. The S.O. really, really enjoyed the MMB burger as it was a classic, but super well done. I'm not sure what the ketchup it, but it had a nice, sweet tang that was unexpectedly good. I got the Club salad and I love dressing, so it might be too wet for others. The beers are okay, but the food really made up for it. Parking was really easy and it's located right in the middle of the main part of La Grange. Our server was super nice and easy to talk too.
google avatar

Sara V.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places. Cheese curds are amazing and we love the selection of house made beers. Live music on Sunday afternoon is always amazing and the vibe is on point.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
I'm an LTHS grad and consider Brookfield to be my hometown, so for years I've been familiar with downtown La Grange turning over restaurants on a perennial basis. I've wondered why there wasn't a microbrewery in the mix of downtown options, and I'm glad that Milk Money Brewery is here to fill the void. I hope it succeeds and becomes a long time staple! The beers I tasted were great, and the food and service were also very good. I'm pleased with the experience overall and Iook forward to returning again soon!
google avatar

Jennifer Q.

Yelp
During these difficult times, we are really not going out much. However, every so often, we do want to escape the house and choose a brewery with food. I'm a bit of a craft beer aficionado and this is one industry I am happy has really thrived in the Chicago area and suburbs. We went to Milk Money a few weeks ago; I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and my husband the cuban sandwich. The food and drinks were excellent and the vibe, a very light, modern brewery, is really aesthetically pleasing. Server Matt was very accommodating and friendly, given it was pretty busy. I also like that they have that whole open front / window thing going on so you have that patio feel despite being inside a building. He's a great sales person too, as he sold us a 4-pack to take home (which is a cool feature of having dinner at the very place that also brews the beer). Great place - happy to see another one thrive in the nearby neighborhoods - we will be back!
google avatar

Pete R.

Yelp
Only had time for a piece of pizza, sandwich and a beer but all three were great. Some concerns over the lack of face masks from many of the patrons, but we sat off to the side of the bar, a good distance from others for most of our stay and made it work. We loved the open air kitchen right in the restaurant with the brew house behind glass in the back. The focaccia style slice was uniquely good and the beer itself (a milk stout for me and an IPA for the lady) were a strong B+ in both cases. The sandwiches were also tasty and while the bartender who took our order wasn't the greatest with menu knowledge or customer service skills, it was a great pour and he took care of the food mix-up well. We will definitely be back to try other beers later this year when we feel the pandemic really allows.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
So the beer was pretty decent. Although they were out of the one I had wanted to order, and it was only 5 PM on a weekday. We knew going into this that the food was on the pricier side, and from the description of why we were totally on board with paying a little bit more than average. My boyfriend ordered the burger and thought it was just okay ... worth $18? Definitely not. I ordered the salad with the chicken add-on. The guy (who wasn't our waitress) that brought our food had his thumb in the bowl touching the lettuce... and the lettuce itself? Brown. Literally soggy and brown. There were TWO slices of radishes, the size of a quarter. And to top it off no chicken. I'm ok with paying more for food when the quality of the ingredient is top tier, however, their prices are no where near justifiable. Especially with mediocre service to boot. The waitress finally came by when my boyfriend was basically done with his burger. We mentioned there wasn't chicken on the salad, so we wouldn't be charged for it. We finished paying but we were still drinking our beer when a random girl walked up to our table and asked if we were done? Uhhhhhhh no? We weren't even there an hour and still had a full glass of beer so we felt super rushed. All in all, this place won't be in our rotation.

Destiny C.

Yelp
Amazing service!!! Maggie was such a great server!!! Lovely and great person! She was on point with serving us
google avatar

Chuck J.

Yelp
Food was not good. Everything is way overpriced. Service was poor and the place was not even half full. When the server asks how everything was (First time we saw her since she brought out our food) and I reply with "Not great" then hands me the check and walks away.... That sums up Milk Money!
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
Love it when the large window wall is up! Friendly, bright beer/burger spot on LaGrange rd so allow a few minutes to park. Good craft cocktails and small selection of microbrews. Our go to's nachos w/chicken and their burger. Plenty for 2 to share. Definitely NOT ball park nachos, MM are made with crisp chips, white queso sauce, cojita cheese, grilled chicken etc. Their burger comes with a house sauce, cheese with other toppings and is cooked to order with hand cut fries. TVs over bar with sports showing and occasional events.
google avatar

Alyssa N.

Yelp
We went here for a pre-Thanksgiving meetup with friends visiting from NYC, and it did not disappoint! Great food, drinks and family-friendly atmosphere. The service was truly exceptional and very much noticed and appreciated!
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
Stopped here because of a friend's suggestion, and this place did not disappoint. Lots of classic brews and a few really good newer styles as well. Very well balanced taplist and great bartenders!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This was my first time here on the recommendation of a friend. I had tried one of their beers and it was enough to make me come in. Absolutely love this place. It's fairly new (only open since December) but already had a steady clientele. I love how your water is served in an old fashioned milk jug. They do not have growlers And will not fill them so be prepared to go home with crawlers if you choose. The bar service was a little slow filling our crawlers but they were extremely busy. They have a good Menu of food offering and have a nice outside patio. Over all completely recommended if you like craft beer.
google avatar

Trisha F.

Yelp
The place was super clean and pristine! The server was super friendly, quick wait times, and accommodating! The kids chicken chunks with fries were delicious for my toddler, abs my husband liked the burger. I ordered the beet salad which was really outstanding, however sooooo smallll and definitely NOT an entree. Sadly, I had to stop at McDonalds after dinner :(. I would return, but I would order the beet salad with something else!

Yelp
Our party of three was seated pretty quickly. Waters were brought out within minutes. And our drink order was taken and delivered within the next 15 minutes. Then we waited close to a half hour for our server to come back and take our food order. About twenty five minutes into that wait another server brought a flatbread to our table, which we didn't order. He takes it back to the kitchen table within eyeshot, and our server emerges from the backroom to take it, and retreat back to the backroom. It was HER dinner. After that half hour wait we asked at the desk if someone else could help us. After all, two of the people seating at our table weren't even drinking, so we obviously we weren't there solely for beer. They eventually took our order and another 15 minutes later it came out. Around the time we finished our meal our original server reemerges from the backroom, asking if we got our food (while watching us eat it). It's 2022 folks...you just can't be this dumb. I'll also add that they had seven people working the floor with servers working an average of three tables apiece. They were slow enough that two of the servers folded napkins and silverware at the front desk. Suffice it to say, an utter disappointment. The one beer I had was average, getting a second was never offered. The food was below average for all three plates and the service, well, don't come here if you're hungry! One star is overly generous.
google avatar

Abbie B.

Yelp
My husband, toddler and I went on a Friday evening. We were seating right away and there was a mix of family's and couples in the restaurant. We got our toddler a grilled cheese, I had a flatbread and my husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich. All decent but the buffalo chicken was more like a Nashville hot so beware if you're not into super spicy food.

Dan B.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try something new and the many 5-star reviews guided us here. Reviews correctly identified good service, a cool ambiance and lots of kids. The problem I have here is the quality and attention paid to the food. For me, FOOD is the most important thing in a restaurant and having maybe 6 tables open at 7:00 on a Saturday should have been clue enough. My MMB Burger had nice flavor but it was warm at best as was my wife's chicken wrap. The fries were ice cold. There is simply no way the food served as such an afterthought should ever see even a 4 rating. The potential here is so much greater and I see this as more of a management problem for the owners to solve.
google avatar

Katrina L.

Yelp
The food was great and the beers are pretty good. Will definitely be back for brunch again

Thomas B.

Yelp
Food, staff and overall ambiance is second to none. Although they've only been a part of the historic LaGrange District for 4 short years, they are quickly becoming a staple of the community. Their series of ever changing beers that are brewed on-site each have a unique personality of their own. They have lagers, ipas and everything in between. I personally tried one standard pour of all 8 (yes I walked home :)) and equivocally enjoyed each and every one down to the last drop. I even ended up challenging the bartender to a game of NBA Jams in their arcade. A nostalgic surprise that quickly humbled my inflated video game ego. PS Ask about the MUG Club! 11/10 Would go back again... Actually, I'm headed there right now!

NG77 F.

Yelp
Nice Ambiance and decor. Wayyy overpriced and way way undersized!! Actually so much so it is insulting. Have to go and eat again somewhere 30 minutes after!

David A.

Yelp
The service was good the ambiance was chill the food was great I had the Monday special burger I would come back!

Yelp
Off to a great start! Visited this location with my father, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Most importantly, the beer was good. We tried their hef, golden, and porter and thought all were good. As far as food goes, we began with a half dozen oysters, then moved on to a burger and their buffalo chicken sandwich (all of which we enjoyed). Friendly service, great atmosphere, both indoor and outdoor dining/drinking options. Some canned to-go beer options as well. Wishing them much success!
