Best Restaurants in Waco, Texas | Eater Dallas

"Milo All Day boasts a bright, locally influenced menu with tons of culinary creativity. This farm-to-table mission means the menu changes frequently. Diners can expect colorful dishes like roasted jerk salmon with sweet potato curry, hot honey fried quail with corn salsa, or strawberry walnut salad with the option to add fried or grilled chicken. The indoor space is bright and airy, decorated with thriving plants and a rad octopus mural painted above the bathrooms, but diners can also enjoy their meal on the welcoming, parking lot-facing outdoor patio, where well-behaved dogs are welcome." - Amy McCarthy

Stopped in for a quick bite with some friends! Loved the open concept atmosphere for seating. If you are someone who enjoys the patio regardless of the weather- there is a place for you here. The space is well covered and provides the perfect protection during the summer heat. Started with the cast iron cornbread- delicious! If you are someone who enjoys a little kick with their meal, the hot chicken tacos will be perfect for you! If you are looking for something sweet but relatively light- the French toast was very nice! Service was great. Bathrooms were clean. It was the perfect place to meet some friends!

Pretty good spot! They had half off appetizers and margaritas which allowed us to try s few things! We got the pimento cheese (very good and I enjoyed the homemade crackers), the brussel sprouts were also quite good. my husband got the burger and I ordered the steak lettuce wraps. The burger and fries were very fresh and flavorful. maybe it was supposed to be this way, but the steak for my entree was cooked so much it was crunchy.... The flavor was good, but I found that odd. Fresh ingredients and good service. A relaxed, bright and airy atmosphere! Some entrees seemed smaller, but the appetizers helped fill us up.

Google
The portions were very small. The blackend salmon was tasty but there was virtually no side dish to accommodate. I ordered a salad and the chicken add on was $8 and was 1 small piece (see photo). Overall the salad was also tasty but basically entirely lettuce. They gave us a 25% discount but I gave the money to the waitress as none of the limited portions were her fault.

Google
My family and I tried this place for mother’s Day and had a burger with fries that were very good. We also had the salad and some potato skins, which were delicious as well as the ricotta pancake. The food was good, but the drinks were not. We had margaritas served in a whiskey glass, which was very strange and very small portion for the amount that they charge and a bloody Mary in a tom collins glass. Again very strange but ok taste. And to top it all off, they were out of the drink that my wife wanted for Mother’s Day by 11 AM in the morning so it was a bit disappointing.

If you’re looking for an incredible farm-to-table experience in Waco, look no further than Milo. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what really made our visit unforgettable was our server, Kaitlyn. She was phenomenal—every recommendation she made was spot on. The pimento cheese? Absolutely next level. Creamy, flavorful, and the perfect starter. You can tell everything here is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. This is the spot for brunch—no question. Drinks? The Bloody Mary brought the heat, spicy in all the right ways, and the mimosa flight never disappoints. Whether you’re a brunch regular or just passing through, Milo is a must-visit. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Wonderful food and staff! We went on Mother's Day at 2pm and it was extremely busy! Thankfully I had made a reservation a month in advance so it was no issue so definitely make a reservation! Food was delicious we had the Brussel Sprouts, Biscuits and Gravy, my husband had the Milo Burger and I had the Hot Chicken Tacos and everything was heavenly. The Brussel Sprouts were the best part for me. I think our waiter's name was Andrew and he was very attentive! it is definitely a must try place and if I lived closer I'd be visiting often!

Google
The strawberry salad was delicious. All the food looked great and we were seated right away. The music was a little too loud for conversation.

Google
Really enjoyed our trip to Milo today. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. Our waitress was very friendly, gave nice recommendations, and brought out water bowls for our dogs. The food came our quickly and was well made. I had the short rib and my wife had the butternut squash risotto. We also had the almost expresso martini and frozen ocean breeze. They all came out very well. The patio is dog friendly.

Yelp
Came here for a date night with my husband and was delighted! Unique drinks, farm to table seasonal meals, and friendly service. We even toured their banquet facility after dinner. This would be a wonderful place for company party, engagement celebration or wedding shower. Their attention to detail was on par with much finer restaurants but we loved the laid back and casual atmosphere. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
This place was probably the best option for brunch on Sunday. Almost everything is locally sourced. This was obvious in the freshness and simplistic menu. Simplistic in the amount of options NOT in the curation of taste profiles. While I can't quite put my finger on exactly what genre the menu would be classified as, I can say it was simply delicious. The food was hot and delicious. I don't know exactly what it was called but the blue corn cake was unlike anything I've ever had. It was a cornbread pancake with some Serrano apple butter stuff on top. Wow. Wow. Wow!!! Taste and texture off the charts. Our sever (Kara?) was amazing. We had 2 different managers come over and check on us. They had tons of gluten free options and this was amazing because they were extra careful. Definitely would go back and try more. So so good.

Yelp
Excellent food. Stopped after visiting the distillery across the street. Great service and quick. Loved the hot Thai chicken biscuit. Salad was super fresh, and grits excellent. Loud environment but really good food for a great lunch.

Yelp
Bright and lively place for brunch. Lots of greenery which added to the ambiance. Food was delicious and service was friendly. Would definitely return again next time we're in Waco!

Yelp
Came here a couple of days ago for early brunch. There was no wait and we were seated promptly. The inside had a nice modern touch with ample plants decorating the space. It really highlighted the organic and locally sourced ingredients. The food was visually appealing and tasted great. We could easily tell it was locally sourced and packed a heavy dose of flavor.

Yelp
What a cute places nestled in the heart of Waco! We were driving to Fort Worth but needed to stretch our feet a bit and decided to stop for a light bite and some ice cream next door. The interior and concept is beautiful - fresh and open space concept that gives you "farm to table" vibes. The parking I saw was limited, however, they might have more parking in the back... The staff were friendly albeit there was no one at the host stand when we walked in. It was after the lunch hour so the restaurant was very slow and empty and only a couple of patrons. Our server was friendly and checked in on us. We ordered the strawberry salad, crispy Brussels sprouts, and deviled eggs with candied bacon and jalapenos. Hmmm... I think they missed the mark on the food though. Firstly, the food came out in roughly five minutes after we placed the order, which makes me think that the food was all premade and little to no prep work. The greens in our salad were not fresh, but wilted and soggy. The brussel sprouts were good, but not fresh, and a bit too soaked in the sauce or dressing it was tossed in...and the deviled eggs had candied bacon that has the texture of a raisin...definitely my least favorite... While we were eating, our server Emily, was really great in checkin-in on us but once we were done eating she didn't come around to wrap us up and provide us with our check...so I had to get up and tell her we were ready... Cute concept but missed the marker on quality fresh tasting food.

Yelp
The food was amazing and worth it. And my server phill was nice and welcoming the best restaurant experience I have had in a while highly recommended this place. Service was nice and accepting

Yelp
Very over priced for mediocre food. The portions were super small as well. I got the hamburger it was good but not the best I've had and it was served with a tiny side of fries. The hamburger and fries were both just warm not hot.. wouldn't go here again. It also says online they were serving brunch and lunch at the time I went but when I got there I was told there was only brunch..

Yelp
If it weren't for my husband having a client in the area, we likely never would have experienced this gem. He woke me and surprised me with dinner here on our drive home. It was definitely worth interrupting my nap! It's such a delightful space to walk into with the flowers and light airy atmosphere. Our server seemed somewhat new, but she was absolutely delightful. The menu is rather small, but that's because they locally source and make everything from scratch. For this reason, their prices are a little higher, so you may want to know that going in. The corn ribs were crispy and good enough to make a meal of all on their own. I ordered the burger medium and it was one of the best burgers I've had. My husband had the quail and didn't share, so I'm guessing it was as good as my burger. If you're in the area, I recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Walking in the door, we knew we were in the right place for dinner! It's very open and inviting and the energy pulls you right in! There were three of us on a Friday night and we were seated quickly despite them being quite busy. Our server greeted us right away and was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. She made a couple of suggestions and we took her up on those! We ordered several small plates to share and each ordered an entree. The food came out quickly, all piping hot and cooked to perfection! The Corn Ribs are absolutely stunning! They were tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The brussel sprouts were another stunning bite, so much so we ordered another one for our meals! The meals came out shortly after our small plates and again, piping hot, fresh and delicious! The salmon was cooked wonderfully with a nice crispy skin, the pork chop was a tasty smoked medium and the short rib was melt-in-the-mouth perfection! It was just one delicious bite after another! Add perfectly mixed cocktails to the list too, they definitely know what they're doing in the kitchen and behind the bar! I highly recommend Milo All Day, every day and twice a day every once in awhile!!

Yelp
really great experience. my family and i were passing through waco on the way to the state fair and decided to stop to get dinner here. Our table got the burger, steak frites and sticky rice salmon and it was all sooo amazing. there were good flavors and a good person (but i left wanting more bc it was so good lol). our server was so nice and the vibes in the resturant were so cute. if youre looking for a good resturant to go out with some friends this is a great place.

Yelp
Such a fun spot to go in Waco. It's a beautiful space with lots of plants and light. The menu is full of delicious items - I have loved everything I've ever gotten. Service is great - friendly and warm atmosphere. I highly recommend the pimiento cheese and crackers to start. Today I got the farmers daughter entree with fried chicken. It was to die for!! One thing to note- this place is LOUD. If you are hoping for quiet conversation this is not your place. They do offer outdoor seating that might be quieter, but I don't have experience with that. I'd love to see a bigger selection of mocktails.

Yelp
Ambiance was great and food was really good! Service was okay just had to ask for things multiple times but no issue. The salad and dressing was lacking in flavor but the chicken did help. The sando was underwhelming, by no means bad but the sausage was crumbling and avocado was barely present. The best part was the aioli and I had to ask for a side because it was a bit dry. The biscuits were very good, nice and airy and buttery. With the jelly they are delicious! Finally the Brussels sprouts. They are definitely top tier sprouts. Very crispy and flavorful. Most sprouts can't hold the crisp like these do! Overall I enjoyed Milo but with the many new restaurants popping up in Waco I would not prioritize coming back for anything (besides the sprouts!)

Yelp
Loved the happy hour options... good value! The atmosphere was awesome with all the plants and modern vibe. Service was good!

Yelp
This was such a quaint and dope spot in Waco. It was super busy, but after just a very slight wait, we got in!! It was a great breakfast spot, and the service was great!!!! Must stopped, while in Waco!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a beautiful space. Reminds me of Snooze but greener. There are gorgeous plants everywhere. The food is delicious: all local. The drinks, YUM! The staff is kind, helpful and knowledgeable about their menu. Definitely recommend for brunch dates, birthday celebrations, a hangover or any reason to enjoy a meal and drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed lunch here. Food was prepared well, but eh service was superb! Get the deviled eggs!

Yelp
I brought my family here as we were visiting Waco. We loved the food. My daughter had the Steak Frites and she said "it was bomb dot com". My son had the watermelon salad, which he said "it was awesome". I had the braised short rib with crispy shallots, creamed potatoes and a beautifully done bordelaise sauce made with rendered bone marrow. That dish was rich and wonderfully designed to melt in your mouth! My wife had the sticky coconut rice with crispy skin salmon. That dis was the star of the table. The coconut rice paired with the hint of chili was perfectly paired. It tasted like the spice was dancing in your mouth. The salmon was perfectly cooked as well! Since it was my wife's birthday, they surprised her with an amazing beet root pistachio cake! The atmosphere of this restaurant is warm and inviting, perfect for the family!

Yelp
Dined here while in town on business. I don't always love eating alone while traveling but the staff made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I ordered the crispy brussel spouts and chicken tacos at the suggestion of my waitress and then added on some greens- squash salad. All 3 dishes were delicious! You could tell the ingredients were all fresh and flavors were fantastic. Portions were very large too- definitely ordered too much but was up for the challenge Would definitely recommend

Yelp
Came here for lunch & ordered a few dishes. We ordered the corn ribs which was good, but it was a tad bit salty since there was a bit much tajin. I had to scrape off the tajin so it wouldn't be as salty. Also ordered the brussel sprouts which was good as well, but it was overly crisp & charred for my cup of tea. My main entree i ordered the tomato soup & grilled cheese sandwich along with a side of potatoes. The tomato soup was not your typical Campbell soup or Panera soup lol. The tomato soup was NOT salty & it had a different taste to it which was tasty. The grilled cheese was cheesy just the way I like it & it had a nice crunch to it. The side of potatoes were nice & crispy. I would return to this place in the future to try out other items on their menu.

Yelp
OMG wonderful service and excellent service complimenting some amazing food! Started with the fried okra with new twist for us left whole and quick fried with buttermilk salt and romalaude. Followed with the Steak Frites and short ribs that melt in your mouth!

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious here. Presentation and colors of our appetizers were GORGEOUS. And they tasted fantastic too! Highly recommend checking out Milo All Day!

Yelp
Milo was always a favorite of mine when I was attending college in Waco -- and I love to see that they're staying consistent and delicious. I made a reservation for our group of five a couple of weeks in advance for a Friday morning brunch. I ended up having to adjust our reservation the day before, and still had no issues getting a table at the time we wanted. I'm sure if school was in session, that would be a different story! The interior to Milo is a fun mix of natural and industrial design -- with plenty of plants to brighten up the space. I started my meal with a Bloody Mary, which was quite tasty, but a bit small for an $11 drink. My husband's pineapple margarita was the same size, but even more expensive at $14. The food was fabulous, as always. We started with the Corn Ribs and Brussels Sprouts, the latter of which is one of my favorites. I ordered the special for my entree -- "Sic 'Em Chicken." This delightful biscuit sandwich is topped with a fried chicken thigh and a well-balanced coleslaw. I also managed to snag a bit of my husband's Smoked Pork Hash, which was surprisingly light, while maintaining a lovely smokey flavor. The service was also great -- not only was our waitress friendly and attentive, but the general manager stopped by our table to chat with us for a few minutes. I always appreciate this gesture, especially in a restaurant like Milo. I'll continue supporting this Waco staple, and look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
We are new to Texas and love brunch. This was truly an amazing experience. Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is cute as can be and the food was outstanding! We started with the deviled eggs, some of our favorites so far! The jalapeño was the perfect addition to the creamy egg! I had the burger and it was so flavorful and the bread was worth the carbs! The fries were crispy and well seasoned! My boyfriend had the hot chicken tacos. Spicy but well balanced with the cotija! We will for sure be going back!
google avatar

Preston S.

Yelp
Milo deserves a great review for more than one reason. Right off the bat, the menu is small and simple. A much needed change from the industry norm. Secondly; the service is top notch, truly I have never experienced the same care from a restaurant. Third, the sticky coconut rice salmon was the BEST salmon I have ever had from a restaurant. It was a delicious meal that I would certainly return for. The only miss from the whole experience was a not so good airliner chicken, the chicken didn't live up to the menus description and unfortunately was not either my fiancée or I's favorite. Luckily the manager was making rounds asking how everyone's food turned out and was able to graciously help us out by not charging us for the chicken. Overall, Milo is a beautiful, delicious place to eat! Go if you can!
google avatar

Goose G.

Yelp
The food was good but not great and the same with the service. Very expensive for little old Waco, Texas. They must be trying to cash in on the Chip and Joanna craze. The burger and/or the tacos were $18. and the patty was small.
google avatar

Phillip A.

Yelp
This place was a really nice gem to stumble on. Visiting Waco for the first time and you definitely have choices for places around here. But we chose Milo for some other reviews that we had read. The restaurant is spaced out nicely and never felt crammed in. There's music playing in the background. That's not too loud where you can still have a good conversation. The food was fantastic. See the pictures that are posted. Sean was a great and attended to all our needs. He was very informative and knew the menu well and drinks to go with our food. Although it was a great experience and I would highly recommend eating here.
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
Great service from a farm to table restaurant. Everything was delicious - had the short rib melt and chicken sando
google avatar

Yelp
We had Sunday brunch here. The chilaquiles and pimento cheese grits were outstanding. Portion sizes were appropriate for one person.

Yelp
We were searching/yelping for a brunch place that had cocktails and Milo's was one of the top ones. So glad we decided to go with them! First off, I want to praise the staff- especially Key and Jeremy (who I assume is the GM). Key was our waitress and she was absolutely fabulous! She helped us decide on dishes and wow were they good recommendations. We shared the brussel sprouts which are a MUST! I have them all over and Milo's are one of the tippity top best. The farmer's daughter salad was delicious but filling; generous portion sizes which allowed me to enjoy it again later on. Their "regular" mimosa was anything but. The super-fresh-squeezed orange juice goes down easier than the bubbly! I ordered another not just for more cocktails, but more juice! We also got margs to go because those were also outstanding. This place is refreshing on every level, literally and metaphorically. Jeremy came over to say hi and he was so fun and friendly. This one of those places that make you feel like you're visiting a friend's house instead of a restaurant. Key aided big time in that too... never rushing but never absent, engaging but never too talkative. Just right! Last but not least, the ambiance... yep that's perfect too. SO MANY PLANTS! It gives off major cozy, Austin-type vibes. Nearly everything is farm to table too. Even going to the loo is entertaining. Just get here already!
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
This is the 2nd time we've eaten here. Menu is slightly different from 1 yr ago but it was equally delicious, satisfying. The staff was friendly & attentive as well as very informative. The vibe of this place was very inviting and homey but also quite hip & modern. Highly recommended!

Raynette C.

Yelp
Excellent fresh farm to table food. Very good drinks. After dinner go to milk bottle cookies around the corner.

Yelp
We went here for lunch while visiting Waco. We were greeted very nicely and our waitress was great! We sat outside and it was a good time. Absolutely loved the corn ribs & the pimento cheese spread. I ended up not ordering an actual meal because I was so full from the apps. My husband ordered the burger and it was delicious. He added bacon and a fried egg--def recommend!
google avatar

Sage O.

Yelp
This place was cute and the service was very friendly and attentive. However I feel like the food is a little overpriced for what you're getting. We came here after Magnolia Table cut off their waitlist. It was a cute vibe and the food was good but not worth $90. We got 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 1 salad and drank water. Everyone was talking about how they were obsessed with the crab hush puppies but I couldn't even taste it because the spice level was overpowering. (and trust me I like spice!) My grilled cheese was burnt and the Caesar salad was overdressed. The tomato soup was not flavorful or creamy.
google avatar

Tammy M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this restaurant and the decor was very cute! Initially we were going to sit outside, which is very nice and shaded, but a tornado watch was in effect so we moved inside. Turns out we didn't need to move but the inside was really great as well. We started off with the Brussel sprouts which had great flavor and a nice crunch. I got the burger with fries and both were cooked to perfection and had a nice flavor combination. My friend order the trout that was cooked well and had a bit of a crispy side with a risotto type rice it all went together nicely. The winner of the meal was most definitely the croissant bread pudding. I already love most bread puddings but didn't know I could love something so much, we paired it with a nice decaf coffee and boy were we happy! Our server was a sweet college student from Baylor who made excellent recommendations and told us all about her family. She was fast, checked in with us the perfect amount of times and made a point to say goodbye as we were walking past the restaurant while we were outside. Overall this was a great experience and absolutely loved the interior of this place with all of the plants. Highly recommend!

Brenda S.

Yelp
Beer, burger and service were great!! Ask for Jackson -, what a great waiter! The beer from a local brewery, Brothers Brewery, is now my favorite! I had the Mad Dog burger and now I'm really upset. I'll have to drive one hour one way to get another one! Best burger ever!
google avatar

Steven H.

Yelp
Best biscuits I have ever had. Super tasty spot hidden in Waco. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect brunch spot. Amazing decor and relaxing environment. Quick and great service!

Jennie H.

Yelp
We love the food at Milo! Every time we visit our daughter in Waco, we make a point of heading here. The chicken is outstanding, and they have the best ice tea. The service is awesome- everyone really seems to know the menu and they make outstanding recommendations. The atmosphere is both casual and urban.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We have been here four times now and it is always incredible!! Their drinks are refreshing and delicious. I especially love the lemonades! Today I had the ribeye rice bowl which was light, fresh and a work of art! We also love the corn ribs, brussel sprouts, and pimento cheese.
google avatar

Catrina L.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I first got the bourbon cocktail which comes with cinnamon and pear and it was an amazing combination. Then we started off with the Brussels sprouts which tasted phenomenal. It was our favorite off the menu. We also got the pimento cheese with pita which was pretty good. Hubby got the wrecking ball and it he enjoyed it. But he said the portion was pretty huge. Then I got the blue corn pancake and the texture that the blue corn added was a nice touch to it. It was very nice, light and fluffy. Reservation: Do it in advanced! The wait time takes about 30-45 mins if you are a walk-in. The wait is worth it though! We really enjoyed everything off the menu.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
Amazing service and even better food. If you get Jon as your server, you're even more lucky. Place is open and airy as well. Not overly crowded.
google avatar

Clayton S.

Yelp
First thing the ambiance was great. The place is wide open and has the farm to table vibe. It is really cool little spot and would love to check out the patio next time. The service was great and our waitress Key (if I miss spelled my apologies) was awesome. We were seated quickly and well taken care of. She made excellent recommendations and knew the menu well. She took great care of us and was just Down Right the Best! The food was great. A good selection of the farm toy able scratch kitchen variety. We had the pimento cheese as a starter which had a good kick. At the table kids had burgers, old fashioned breakfast, hot chicken tacos (which were pretty large fyi) and the chicken biscuit. All were good and nothing left behind! Really solid food. We meet fam in Waco as a halfway point between Austin and Dallas. This will be a go to for sure!

Yelp
My husband and I visited the Waco area to shop Magnolia Market, and stopped here to have dinner the evening before. I'll start by saying, the restaurant is in a great location, just a short distance from the Silos. The ambiance was beautiful, and the place seemed to be well kept. Our experience here was less than pleasurable. Firstly, our dishes were pretty bland. I chose the Salmon and Grits, which I had to heavily salt and pepper to no resolve. My husband had the Mad Burger, which also lacked flavor and was only saved by the chimichurri. The hostess staff were friendly, and seated us without delay. However, we noticed one of the chefs, in black attire, spoke to all the guests at every table expect us. I do mean every single table, but ours. To hold a full conversation with all guests, except the only black couple, does not seem inadvertent me. This individual even made rounds to the patio guests. We were completely in shock as the dining tables are very close together. It became very apparent that this was intentional after he walked past several times and even looked at us from the kitchen area. Conclusively, we were pretty disappointed with the overall experience. This place really missed the mark for us.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
Loved the visit once again! Started with the deviled eggs which have a really great twist of a hot sauce vinegarette.. but we ran out of water because our serve Stevie left us dry while eating hot sauce KIDDING, the service Stevie provided was incredible and would truly bring me back every time I visit Waco! Had the burger and Nashville hot tacos & both were great. Atmosphere is laid back and easy for adults or with children.
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
If you're visiting Waco and want to eat a GREAT meal - come to Milo! Save yourself from the banality of Magnolia's overpriced fare. Milo is truly farm to table and their food is always a hit! Any time I have visitors Milo is one of the first places I take them. Service can be hit or miss, but typically it's a lovely experience. The cocktails are superb as well!
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great food. Wonderful staff & service. Will definitely come again next time we are in Waco.

Jean Paul M.

Yelp
Had a fantastic experience at Milo - they serve farm to table and have an original menu! Our server and staff were all attentive and the manager went to each table to check-in with customers. The food flavors were great and well la a es, the pork hash with mole had a small kick to it but a balanced ending. The coffee is critical for me and it was brewed on point, even though it is mass brewed they are able to keep the flavor pallet and notes for a great sip. In termos of ambiance, we saw all ranges of groups from families to brunch crews and felt the "grove" was ideal for a Saturday morning. The space is open and has a clean minimalist look. Probably our favorite place we dinned in Waco

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Dog Friendly and the fresh scratch kitchen/gastro pub food is delicious! Worth the wait!

Yelp
Held a business dinner, wonderful staff and the food was tremendous. Highly recommend for dinner, lunch, or a big group.
