The Best Restaurant Dishes the Eater Boston Team Ate This Week, Winter 2022 | Eater Boston

"A Malden dim sum destination offering an array of photogenic and tasty plates: steamed shrimp dumplings in jet-black cuttlefish wrappers (garnished with a bit of gold), crispy shrimp in red rice rolls, crispy shrimp rolls with celery, salted egg yolk buns, turnip cake, and a durian pie that serves as an approachable intro for the curious. Fish balls were a hit with the reviewer’s one-year-old. While takeout was enjoyable, the write-up still longed for the communal, in-restaurant dim sum experience." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Polished Malden favorite with broad dim sum offerings and banquet-style seafood. Lauded by the Boston Globe’s area-wide tasting and included in Resy’s dim sum roundup, it’s a go-to for larger groups and special-occasion spreads.

We came for the 10am Saturday dim sum. Got seated right away, but by the time we finished around 11am the place was packed. Everything was delicious and matched our expectation of a no frills dim sum experience. In addition to the typical dim sum dishes they also had some fancy options like the red rice shrimp rolls which was delicious and taste like rice roll, fried shrimp and youtiao in one perfect bite.

I have dined at Ming’s Seafood a couple of times, but yesterday I had the worst experience by far. We arrived around 10 AM when the restaurant wasn’t busy. However, the waiter was very rude and bumped into my chair at least ten times, despite my efforts to adjust my seating. They continued to push my chair with their carts, which was quite frustrating. Additionally, the food was not good. It used to be acceptable, but the ingredients didn’t taste fresh at all. We also ordered the minion egg custard bun, which was a complete disappointment. Instead of what was advertised in the menu photo, we received a bun topped with seaweed. It didn’t resemble the dish at all. When we asked why the bun didn't look the same, they simply said the cook didn't have time to decorate it. Overall, it was truly disappointing.

I’ve been dining at Ming’s Seafood Restaurant for quite a few times , a dim sum establishment located in Malden. Given the significant Chinese population in the area, this restaurant has always been quite popular and busy. Today, during the Memorial Day long weekend, the restaurant was particularly crowded. While most of our meal maintained the usual quality standards, we were disappointed with two specific dishes. One is the fried dough (youtiao) in the rice roll. The dough arrived as steamed rather than crispy as it should be, giving it an unappetizing soggy texture. Additionally, the pork congee with preserved egg was remarkably bland, lacking any distinctive flavor. I suspect the kitchen may have been overwhelmed by the holiday rush, which could explain the decline in food quality. Unfortunately, the restroom conditions were also quite poor and in need of attention. A little extra effort in maintaining cleanliness would significantly improve the overall dining experience. Unless we hear that these issues have been addressed, this may be our final visit to Ming’s Seafood Restaurant.

We went for dim sum on July 4th. The place was crowded. Our food was good in general, but dim sum dishes took long time to be served. I thought they used to have carts before Covid, but now no more carts.

Everyone seems like this one in Malden than Quincy store...I love their dim sum and dinner, every dishes are just delightful and so comfortable to eat in, service is friendly and we never wait too long to have our yummy dishes, it's a good place to try authentic Hong Kong style food, highly recommended

Ming's seafood restaurant was just what we needed when we were in Boston. Just plain good Chinese food !!! :). The meal was excellent. It really reminded me of restaurants in Hong Kong.

My general impression was positive overall. First they served loose leaf green tea in porcelain tea pot and cup. I ordered something I hadn’t tried before (white fish with some green vegetables). I asked the name of the vegetable but the waiter didn’t speak any English, I think, so didn’t understand probably. It looked like Bok choy but I wasn’t sure if it was. The plate was huge and filled up to top with a very generous serving of food. The food had a little taste to it but compared to the food I eat lacked spices and oil, but I think it is healthy food. I could only eat half of it and took home the remaining food ate the next day. The price for such amount was good! The tables were clean and the employees were friendly.

I stepped into this place with a craving for authentic dim sum, and it didn't disappoint. The shrimp dumplings were plump and flavorful, and the fried tofu with shrimp paste was a delightful surprise. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff managed the bustling crowd efficiently. However, the wait time was longer than expected, and the spare ribs were a bit too oily for my taste. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely return for another round of dim sum delights.
