9 Flavorful Indian and South Asian Restaurants in Denver | Eater Denver

"The menu at this downtown dark horse runs the regional gamut while offering a few uncommon flourishes: lamb-and-egg-stuffed chicken, jhalmuri (a puffed-rice snack with avocado and potato), whole tandoori fish. The kitchen handles it all deftly, so mix it up with chole bhature from the north — chickpea stew accompanied by puffy fried flatbread for sopping — and complex, earthy Chettinad-style curry. Though not quite luxe, the interior’s spruce enough for casual client lunches and pre-theater bites." - Ruth Tobias

18 Downtown Lunch Options for Every Occasion | Eater Denver

"The downtown crowd has come to rely on this Indian kitchen’s ample lunch buffet, but if it’s a quiet day at the office, there’s some time to order off the regular menu. A wide variety of regional curries spans the subcontinent, while uncommon specialties include pani puri and chicken Shahjahani; Mint is also strong on vegetarian dishes like the baigare baigan (eggplant in tamarind gravy) and mushroom mutter." - Eater Staff

Google
Absolutely amazing! Probably the best Indian food I've had in Colorado. We ordered the Chili Paneer, Chicken Shahi Korma, Chicken Rogan Josh, and Garlic Naan. Everything was superbly delicious. The Chili Paneer and Shahi Korma were both my favorite. Will definitely visit again.

Google
Actually really decent Indian food. The samosas and naan had a good flavor. The vindaloo and tikka masala were very tasty too. No spice level options were given but everything was at a spice level of about medium. Service as good and pretty fast.

Mint Indian Restaurant and Lounge - A Downtown Denver Delight with a Few Colorful Notes Mint Indian Restaurant and Lounge, nestled in the heart of downtown Denver, offers a convenient and generally pleasing dining experience. The restaurant boasts a wide array of choices, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian palates. Notably, they also accommodate specific dietary needs, with vegan and gluten-free options available upon request. While the spices and curry preparations were commendable, I did observe a somewhat heavy hand with food coloring, particularly in the Veg Chilli Momos and Paneer Butter Masala. The Paneer Biryani was decent; however, I felt that smaller paneer pieces would have integrated more harmoniously with the overall dish. One of the standout aspects of my visit was the exceptional service provided by Mr. Sunny. His kindness and candor in offering dietary recommendations were greatly appreciated and truly enhanced the dining experience. Mint's downtown location makes it easily accessible for both business travelers and tourists staying in nearby hotels. Overall, I would recommend giving Mint Indian Restaurant and Lounge a try. The positive and humble intent with which the dishes are prepared and served, coupled with the warm hospitality, make it a worthwhile experience, despite a few minor areas for improvement.

Google
This restaurant has joined the list of my one of the worst eating experiences. I went there for my lunch with my colleagues and even while we were not done eating, their waiter Dhanna came and kept the bill on our table, basically expecting us to leave. When I told him the same that we're still eating, he started arguing to justify what he did. And all this happened when there were empty seats in the restaurant. This place was my worst eating experience in Denver.

Google
Best place for some good Indian food. Very authentic and food is absolutely delicious. We got vegetable curry, pork curry and chicken masala. They were all delicious. I highly recommend getting mango lassi drink also 🤌

I have dined at many restaurants, but this one surpassed them all. Here’s my detailed experience: real authentic food and the best customer service. Special thanks to Mr. Chandra and Mr Bhim for his excellent service.

Google
From the bottom of my heart, I wish I could convey just how truly amazing this place was. the food was amazing, the service impeccable and truly if I had to pick somewhere to dine in the city, I would pick this restaurant again and again.

Google
Had a party of 20. Nice walking distance from the downtown Sheraton. Chandra and staff were exceptional with their attention to details. We were asked to provide menu items in advance of our night, so we provided a spreadsheet with each person's name and order identified. Staff carefully brought out the orders to each individual. Helpful suggestion would be if members of the party had name tags, but because we knew who each other were, when an order came out, we were able to guide staff to the person who had that order. Many compliments from the attendees. Best part, since we came from all over the States, each person had their own receipt. This personalization was greatly appreciated.

Yelp
100% yes!!! First let's start with I am pretty judgmental with my food. Especially when I am ordering for someone who has a different dietary style as I do for eating. I walked past them at 4 PM when I first got to downtown. You could smell the food from outside and it was beyond heavenly. I made sure to let my sister and a friend know I was going there that night. I purposely went in two hours before closing to have a drink at the bar, and to order my food. They made me a Moscow Mule, which was amazing. And then I ordered veggies, samosas, chicken, vindaloo, and. Saag ‍ I should've called back and asked if God was whipping it up in the kitchen because somebody's hands were truly blessed. I will be back.

Yelp
Mint was a great place to go for lunch with a medium-sized group (8 people) during a large conference at the Sheraton. The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet ($20) with a wide range of offerings, including a chicken vindaloo, palak paneer, dhal makhni, quorma, popcorn chicken, a chicken roast, and 5-6 other dishes. The chicken is halal. Staff was kind and atmosphere was humble in a very spacious room.

Yelp
Review of Mint Indian Restaurant and Lounge I recently dined at Mint Indian Restaurant & Lounge while attending a conference at a nearby hotel, and I must say, the experience was delightful. The ambiance of the place is simple yet comfortable, complemented by pleasant background music that enhances the dining experience without being intrusive. Upon arrival, the host was very welcoming, offering recommendations that did not disappoint. The vegetable samosas were a perfect start - crispy on the outside with a flavorful, well-spiced filling. I usually go with meat samosas as the vegetable ones have in the past been a little bland. Nope, not these, they were very good. The butter chicken was delicious, having a rich and creamy sauce and plenty of tender chicken. The sauce was so delicious, I found myself sopping up the sauce with the naan bread throughout the meal. For me what set Mint apart was the service - fast, friendly, and efficient. The staff's attentiveness and professionalism added greatly to the overall enjoyment of the meal. In summary, Mint Indian Restaurant & Lounge offers a delightful experience with its combination of delicious food, inviting ambiance, and excellent service. It's a place I would gladly revisit and recommend to others looking for some tasty Indian cuisine.

Yelp
Popped in to this location for dinner while traveling. I was excited to try a new cuisine but was a bit disappointed in the flavors. Upon entering I found the location to be dark, confusing, and a little disheveled. Since I ordered to go I stepped out to grab a few items from across the street. When I returned there was confusion on who took my order and what I ordered. It eventually worked out. I ordered to go excited to eat some of my usuals. The flavors were bland and the love that is usually felt in Indian food was missing. The best part of the meal was the naan. Definitely would not return.

Yelp
The food on the buffet is quite good. There was a decent amount of selection both vegetarian and with chicken. There was also a decent amount of spice in the dishes. If it isn't spicy enough look for the little bowl of red homemade hot sauce. It packs a punch!!!! I really enjoyed the lentils, the spinach paneer, and the spicy chicken. The naan was also delicious. The mint sauce and raita were also great condiments. The price was reasonable. The service was not necessarily bad but not really great either. I would highly recommend it for buffets!

Yelp
Loved this place for some authentic Indian food in downtown. Service was so kind and my boyfriend and I got to try some Indian beers at the bar! They have quite the extensive menu and I stuck to my go to chicken tikka masala (amazing) but I really want to come back and try other things as well.
google avatar

Kara M.

Yelp
I've done both delivery & dine in on a few occasions at this location and have never been disappointed! The food is flavorful & the portions are plentiful. The staff is amazing & their recommendations are always good!
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
The service was lovely, the food was absolutely delicious and overall the ambiance was calm & cool. Started with a veggies samosa, we both got lamb biryani at medium heat which was perfect and deff had us breaking a sweat, along with garlic/cheese naan and a mango lassi. So yummy! This was definitely the comfort food we both needed on our date night.
google avatar

Eean T.

Yelp
Food was mediocre! Not bad but not good either! I will say the garlic naan was good. I ordered online and got it delivered quick!
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been in. The curry is very consistent and it's definitely a stop for me every time I'm in downtown denver! The staff are very nice and the food is delicious!! The spice level is always perfect. The owners take great ownership of their food. Come try it!
google avatar

Brianna C.

Yelp
OMG BEST INDIAN FOOD!!! I'm an Indian food snob I get it all the time and have been looking for 4.5 years here for the best place and I finally found it. I got the chicken tikka masala and the flavors in their sauce were exceptional. I usually hate how dry and chewy chicken tastes but it was PERFECT!!! I also got the vindaloo with chicken as well and it did not disappoint. I thought it was a bit spicy for mild but still incredible. The garlic naan was the showstopper. Wow the garlic minced on it was genius. I usually don't finish my entire meal because it's just okay but I got seconds today. 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Such good food (and for a good price too)!!!! I put up a good fight against the chettinad paneer (I asked for spicy), but there was so much and it was _so_ spicy I ate about a third, so I figure it's a meal for $5.

Yelp
I was promised that the house made achar was too hot and that I couldn't handle the spice. It was a good disclaimer, but I can handle the heat. So, they bring a dollop of the spicy stuff and I smeared most of it on my samosas and pakoras. It had a little kick but it was not as spicy as advertised. We scraped every bit of the achar and added to the flavor profile of all the dishes. The food was nice and fresh, especially the hummus. When the man who promised I couldn't handle the house made hot sauces came back to my table, he was in disbelief that we not only finished the serving but cleaned the dish. I showed him the attached picture just to prove it. From that point on, he was silent. We debunked the myth of the fire sauce that nobody could handle. Not even the devil himself! Hot sauce battles aside, the food quality is good and the service was mostly nice. The room was naturally lit up from the big windows. The only thing missing was a good music playlist in the background. It's good that Indian food has a strong presence in Downtown Denver.

Yelp
Delicious! Everything we ordered was so good! We had 2 types of curry dishes, chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. We also ordered the chicken dumplings. We all shared and were happy with every dish. The service was great and the prices were as expected. The decor is not much to write home about, but it's not a big issue when you serve delicious food!

Yelp
We stopped here before seeing a show at the Buell Theater this afternoon. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Cheese Naan. The naan was full of flavor and each ingredient was perfectly balanced. It truly was the best naan I've ever had. The Chicken Tikka Masala came in the perfect portion and I loved the amount of sauce it was in. I enjoy having extra sauce to pour on my rice and to dip my naan in. This came with the perfect amount. For spiciness I ordered mine medium plus. It was spicy enough to enjoy the heat, but not so spicy that I couldn't enjoy the flavors. It seems to be a popular restaurant as it filled up quickly at lunchtime. I would definitely recommend it!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
We've been back here a number of times since my original review, each time we've had outstanding food and service. Last night we were running late and only had half an hour before we needed to leave for the theater. The staff were so kind and were able to serve us quickly so we could enjoy our food before heading off to the show. What a wonderful place.
google avatar

Kari M.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! So many choices and everything was delicious. The service from Dhana was second to none. Very attentive and made great recommendations.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I love this place. We eat here regularly, the food is always good and the service friendly. I probably wouldn't drive across town for this, but if you're in the area and feel like Indian food, I'd recommend it. If you love spicy, try the bullet naan. It's got a kick.
google avatar

Traci M.

Yelp
So just a PSA, even though this place closes at 10 they stop taking indoor dining an hour before they close. Thankfully they do you still take takeout and they were nice enough to serve us two rounds of beers while we waited for our food to be ready. I got a garlic naan, malai kofta and they provided us a rice pudding since they would not grant the check in Yelp offer because we were not dining in which I thought was nice of them. I thought the food was really good, it definitely seems to be a favorite in the area because a lot of people were coming in after us. Definitely recommend!

Lygia G.

Yelp
Delicious food, very authentic. The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the dishes.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Great food and friendly service. I have had both takeout out and the buffet and it has always been good.
google avatar

Purvi M.

Yelp
This is the best Indian restaurant in the city. The menu is vast and food quality is delicious. We ordered the masala pakora (highly recommend), mataar paneer (a bit light on the paneer but still tasty) and the chicken tikka masala. The ambience is super casual and service is average.
google avatar

Jace M.

Yelp
The lamb shahi korma was beyond delicious. The only reason I didn't say yes to more rice was because I physically could not eat anymore. I will definitely be coming back here when I come back to Denver. Very authentic food and the restaurant itself has a really good vibe. The service was fantastic as well, very nice people.
google avatar

Maryssa G.

Yelp
We came in for the lunch buffet. The food was amazing. We were seated quickly and the service was great.

Yelp
Pretty tough. Was in the area for a college meeting thing and they were accommodating and brought the food faster. Nice interior.

Brooke G.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place through Door Dash and were floored. Best Indian! We've eaten as several other local/popular places and this place is even better. We now have our favorite in town. We got the paneer tikka masala and the alo saag. Delicious. Both were mild but has a spice flavor to them. Super creamy. Next time we may order a little more spice. The garlic naan also great. They tossed in dessert and it seemed like rice pudding and tasted great. Can't wait to order more!
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I am in town for a conference and stay in a hotel right next door to this restaurant. Call ahead for pick up and the food was ready super fast. The waitress who handed me the food was very friendly. Food was delicious.
google avatar

Aloha T.

Yelp
Very delicious.... Attentive service... def recommend The place was busy yet the server (possibly owner) acknowledged us immediately. We knew that we wanted a chicken & lamb dish but couldn't decide which one as there were so many options on the menu. After informing the server our dilemma he took the time to ask a few questions & made suggestions. I asked for mild & medium for my husband. Our server must've sensed we were going to share & suggested "mild if sharing". Great catch! I was able to enjoy both dishes. Looking forward to dining there again when we return to Denver.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible food, unparalleled service. We stumbled upon Mint and we did not regret it! Absolutely will be dreaming about this food for a while.
google avatar

FallonRaye S.

Yelp
Oh My Goodness! Yes yes and yes. Must eat here!! Really good Indian food is hard to find and this place is God's gift to earth. I had the butter chicken, tiki masala, naan bread, and meat samosas. Every single thing was A1. I ordered takeout and it held out nice on the 20 min drive to my place.

Dean H.

Yelp
Great little gem in the Denver downtown. I didn't have much time so I popped in for the lunch buffet. 8 or so hot Indian classic dishes with a fresh salad bar to help get some veggies. The server was very attentive clearing empty plates and refilling the water and Naan. I wish I had more room, but probably better I didn't over indulge. Chicken vindaloo was my favorite. $18 for all you can eat is not a bad price in today's world.
google avatar

Miquel N.

Yelp
Everything was top notch and delicious. Appetizers were amazing. Service was great, prompt & friendly. It wasn't busy at all, so it was really quiet and we were able to visit and enjoy our meal. Loved it.

Elaine E.

Yelp
food: tasted like it had been made 3 days ago. was nothing like it was supposed to be. service: fine. only reason it gets a 2. ambiance: i had to go and the restaurant was empty. i ate here about 2018 when they first opened and t was pretty good. boy has it ever gone downhill. can't recommend this place.

Samar H.

Yelp
Great service and food. Friendly, attentive, staff and the food was really good. I had the chana masala with naan.
google avatar

Magda C.

Yelp
Not crowded at all on a Friday night. We had vegetable pakoras and they were really good, not oily. The place is old and not fancy at all but food is good. It could use improvement and upgrades. Garlic naan was not great though.

Jobin S.

Yelp
Love coming to this place for the lunch buffet. Variety, delicious, and naan included. Dhana also provides amazing service. If you work downtown and you have not been yet, you are missing out big time. This is a true hidden gem that is a must visit!
google avatar

Joshua J.

Yelp
Great location for an Indian food in the heart of downtown, however, when you walk in no one will welcome or say hello to you. Waiter will be straightforward, don't expect smile or an eye contact. The food; I ordered a fish curry, it has flavor, but the fish was refrigerated and hard, fell like eating a chicken.
google avatar

Alayna C.

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. The food was delicious, service was hospitable and welcoming and we loved the experience. Highly recommend!
google avatar

CheIsea C.

Yelp
The food is amazing and authentic. They offer many types of curries and uncommon dishes. The service was great. The waitress, who is from Nepal, provided great food recommendations and was very attentive. The ambiance is nice! It feels very homey and they have room for groups or single patrons. This is my second time coming to Denver and I just had to have Mint Indian food again. I'll be back!!

Issac L.

Yelp
Very good food. They have a buffet on weekdays for around $19ish. I like the chicken tikka masala there, I order it spicy. The naan is very tasty as well, it's a little extra $ if you want specialty naan like garlic and other flavors Very good service

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Love this place. The food and service is so wonderful. Our first choice any time we're at DCPA.
google avatar

Jyoti N.

Yelp
I ordered Gobi 65 & chili chicken. Both were authentic & very flavorful. I'm happy to find an Indian restaurant sticking to their origins instead of americanizing the food so it tastes like ketchup. Thank you very much
google avatar

Simone C.

Yelp
This is my new favorite Denver restaurant. I've been trying to replace my favorite Himalayan restaurant in my home state, and this place is even more delicious! The spices were in perfect harmony with each other. The service was also phenomenal. I love it when waiters are attentive yet not overbearing. I'll definitely be going back.
google avatar

Charlotte C.

Yelp
Ordered veg and lamb samosa, marsala, garlic naan. The service and food was fantastic - best I've ever eaten. The sidewalk entrance smells like a sespool.
google avatar

Shreya P.

Yelp
I have tried indian places nationwide and very few compare to NJ indian. This is one of them - the malai kofta was perfect. Very spicy as a heads up so rell them mild haha. We will be back!!
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Yummy food in Denver downtown area. We ordered butter paneer masala and chetinad curry with vegetables. Everything tasted great. Service was prompt. Lovely ambiance!
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
The man who "runs the show" here is extremely welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. Spicy food isn't typically my go to especially on hot days like yesterday but he was great at pointing me in the right direction and the food was delicious! I was in the mood for lamb and it was perfect. So tender every bite had me wanting more. The flavors of the tikka masala were addictive accompanied with the fluffy rice. I can't wait to return on my next visit to Denver.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Was in Denver visiting few months back and wanted Indian food. My brother in law got me trying the butter chicken. And I had to get the naan. Ordered to go and went back to hotel. When I made it back there it was still warm and tasty.
google avatar

Kaylee M.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience when we came in for dinner. My boyfriend had chicken tikka masala, and I had lamb. korma with garlic cheese naan. I was thrilled with my food, because the lamb in my dish was so tender and perfectly cooked. I asked for my food to be spicy and it came out exactly as I hoped. The server was fantastic, and the atmosphere was casual and not too busy.
google avatar

Lizzy S.

Yelp
Really delicious spot with attentive service. Went during lunchtime and did the buffet option. They offered a variety of chicken and vegetarian options, plus a salad bar, lots of condiments, and dessert options. I was really wowed by the saag paneer and mango pudding in particular. The host and server were both very friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. I hope to be back next time I'm in town!
