The Best Restaurants in Seattle’s Pioneer Square | Eater Seattle

"Mirabelle by Orphée’s mission is to “eat, drink, and celebrate like in Paris”—a motto that appears front-and-center in its stylish space on First Avenue. Paris-born chef and owner Ophee Fouano’s masterful technique can be seen — and tasted — in just about every croissant, baguette, and pain au chocolat. One of their most popular pastries is the kouign amann, delectably sweet and reminiscent of a croissant but with a caramelized-sugar exterior. Sandwiches, coffee, and wine round out the menu, with a curated selection of imported dry goods to boot." - Joey Carreon

The Best New Restaurants in the Seattle Area | Eater Seattle

"After a snafu with some imported French flour that delayed the opening, this Pioneer Square bakery and cafe opened in March. It’s very French — croque monsieurs with salad for lunch, duck products in the little fridge, and a pastry case begging you to get a croissant. The croissants are exceptionally buttery and don’t fall into the American croissant trap of being just funny-shaped bread, but the thing we like the most here is the least traditional: a cruffin dusted with cinnamon sugar with such tight layers that it’s chewy and almost cinnamon-roll like." - Harry Cheadle

If you're a bakery fan. This place is a must. Bravely opened in the heart of the most historic parts of Seattle. The baked goods are top tier. My wife and I frequent many bakeries around Seattle (usually weekly) and we have to say, despite just opening, this place is giving our staples a run for their money. The head chef comes from a prestigious pedigree of French training and it really reflects. We always check the plain croissants first, and Mirabelle's are really quite perfect. Soft interior, pull apart, slightly crispy and flaky on the outside. It proved true here as everything else we tried was amazing. If you want to try some of the best baking in a great atmosphere this the place.

Who knew a baguette and butter would be the best thing I ate all day! Mirabelle is a charming French cafe in Pioneer Square. We went there at 9 am on a holiday, since we knew it’d be busy. We tried a couple different pastries, a sandwich, hot chocolate, and tea. All of their pastries and bread are made in-house using a very specific type of flour from France. They were all delicious, but the imported French butter stole the show. Seriously, you need to try the butter. Despite all of the important ingredients and items, I felt the pricing was honestly not bad at all, pretty comparable to any other cafe in Seattle. Also, I thought it was nice that the owner, Orphée, went around and checked on all the guests and asked how everything was. I will definitely be back!!! Pro-tip: arrive before 9:30. They were PACKED by then, no open seats.

I visited this authentic French bakery at 11am and was instantly transported. Everything from the location in Pioneer Square to the beautifully designed interior made me feel like I had just stepped into a café in France. It’s walkable, welcoming, and filled with the scent of fresh pastries. The menu offers a wide variety of pastries, brunch and lunch dishes, as well as gourmet items to take home like truffle butter and French cheeses. I ordered the avocado toast on gluten-free bread with a cage-free egg add-on and was pleasantly surprised to see it came with a side salad. I usually overlook the side salad, but this one had an incredible dressing that was so good, I ended up drizzling it over my toast too. And of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their butter croissant because I try one anytime I get the chance. As you can see in the photo, it’s a work of art. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly golden. I paired it with an espresso and continued my stroll through downtown Seattle completely satisfied. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a high-quality French experience in the city.

As someone who’s a bread and pastry snob (at least my friends think so!), I have to say that I love this place. I first visited at the end of June for a casual lunch after a morning hike, and was so taken by the quality, care, and actual joy in every bite that I broke my usual rule of never repeating restaurants on vacation…and went back the next morning. From the Le Parisien Cochon — think the combo of perfectly crusty baguette with truffle-infused salted butter, tender ham, and Emmental with a delightful sweetness — to the tarte au yuzu layered with dreamy meringue, lemon-grapefruit confit, and bright, silky yuzu cream, every item was both elegant and satisfying. The chef himself was in the shop that day and graciously gifted me a warm beignet - which was, of course, simple but delicious. The kouign amann came fresh out of the oven, its buttery layers caramelized to perfection. I got a whole baguette and a jar of salmon rillettes to go the next morning (anfter ordering a quiche and coffee for breakfast) and had myself a wonderful picnic with some goat cheese and apricots! Everything I got was an honest celebration of good ingredients and precise, loving craft. Definitely one of my recent culinary delights. And at the risk of repeating myself, I highly recommend having their baguette as a household staple (they come out fresh several times a day, so maybe go early if you can!) Merci, Chef Orphée. I can’t wait to return.

My friends and I took a private croissant making class to celebrate one of our dear friend’s birthday. It was an absolutely incredible, unforgettable experience and we all loved it! Orphée was friendly, welcoming, and has created such a beautiful cafe. He shared the history of croissants and then patiently guided us on how to make them. Joy and laughter filled the room and the croissants turned out delicious. It was inspiring to hear his story and witness the passion he has for his craft and culture. We had a wonderful time and will be back again soon!

I visited on a Saturday morning and ended up waiting in line for 30 minutes in the rain. The place is tiny, so if you're planning to go, I recommend arriving early, being prepared to wait, and knowing that once you're seated, you'll need to move quickly—there’s always a crowd waiting for your table. The food is good, with several classic breakfast options. That said, even small add-ons like eggs or bacon can noticeably increase the price of your meal. The coffee was solid, and the bakery case is full of tempting treats, though those are also on the pricier side. The staff was generally kind, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear everyone speaking Spanish. However, we had to ask three times for help cleaning our table. When someone finally came by, they used an overly wet cloth that had a very unpleasant smell. I ended up using napkins to fix the situation myself. I get that they were overwhelmed with how busy it was, and I imagine service is better on slower days. Overall, the place has real potential—the food is good and the vibe is charming. But I do think they’ve outgrown their space. Hopefully, they’ll find a more accessible location soon to match the demand they clearly have.

Great new French cafe/bakery in pioneer square (less than 10 minutes walk from Link). The croissants were crispy, and fluffy. I’ll come back for the croque monsieur for sure! Crispy, cheesy crust, gooey inside. The avocado toast was loaded. Overall great vibes. Loved seeing Chef Orphee running orders and talking to customers. Very warm.

The bread was perfectly crispy and flaky. The butter was delicious. My mimosa was great. Even though there was a line, it moved fairly quickly. The inside was very cute and I was able to get av seat at the window. I think a nice though world be if they played some French music. I can't wait to go back and try many of the other options.

Yelp
I'm happy for the owner and excited for anyone who visits this café. It's special, unique, and beautiful. Front of the house operations went smoothly. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Pastries were of high quality. If I had more time I would have dined in. I will have to come back for a more leisurely experience. It's located in heart of Pioneer Square near the Pergola (built in 1909). The Seattle Ferry Terminal, the Water Taxi, and the Free Waterfront Shuttle are also nearby. Well done for the first day of opening. Congrats!

Yelp
Today was their opening day. a friend from work and I decided to give them a try. She went with a hazelnut chocolate croissant and I had an almond croissant and latte. Cute space my friend loved the Parisian feel. Service was friendly and very helpful. I'm a savory person so excited to see what they put on the menu once they get settled. A nice addition to the Pioneer Square neighborhood.

Yelp
Food was delicious. I ordered a cappuccino and two croissants. Had a chance to meet the owner as well and he was very friendly and professional with his work. A great environment, and worth a visit!
