"Tourism is a huge, huge thing for Hawaii’s restaurant industry. The state’s reopening date was pushed back three times; 40 percent of people were unemployed. When we finally opened Miro Kaimuki in June, [my customers were] 100 percent local. We started making takeaway bentos inspired by longtime mom-and-pop shops—and selling 1,000 boxes a week. Though we weren’t doing the food we’d originally planned, we’re exposing our food to a wider range of people. You do what you have to do, right?" - ByAshlea Halpern

Hands down, this was our best meal on this visit. We've done a tasting almost every day on this trip and this was by far our favorite! From the food, to the small details like changing the silverware, using the proper glasses for the wine, and clearing the crumbs from the table between courses, this place gets it all right. The service is exceptional and everyone made us feel like we were a part of their family. Thank you to Chef Chris, Martin, and the entire staff for an EXTRAORDINARY experience. We cannot wait to do it again!

My husband and I went here for cerebration. From outside, I was not sure. Also, I drove by here many times but never paid attention to this place. I side is totally different from outside. It is much nicer, stylish and good atmosphere. We took a counter seat. The acoustic in this place was a bit too loud for me, so I was glad sitting next to each other helped. This place may not be suitable for quiet romantic place though. The food was great enough. Portion was good, but for some people may find not full enough. I could have eaten more, so it was satisfied amount. (maybe better for health wise.)

It’s been almost a year since I dined here and I literally haven’t gone a day without thinking about the experience! We sat at the bar for the tasting and wine pairing which was absolutely incredible. Portions were just the right size, allowing full enjoyment of each course without Staff was welcoming and despite the undoubtedly high scale food the entire dining experience was relaxed and enjoyable!

I booked Miro Kaimuki back in Sydney Australia to celebrate mum’s 60th birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant, I panicked because the outside did not look like a fine dining restaurant! But from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and interior was totally different from the exterior. The set menu surprised us with its inventive combinations of fresh ingredients, each dish beautifully presented on our plates. All dishes provided alternative options to cater my dietary requirement (vegetarian). We ordered two bottles of wine and a non-alcoholic cocktail. My favourite dishes were the Miro sourdough bread and beef cheek, celery root & green farro (beef was replaced by mushroom for vegetarian). The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, their friendly demeanor and attentiveness adding to the overall enjoyment of our meal. I am so pleased that I found Miro Kaimuki to celebrate mum’s special day and I will definitely recommend Miro Kaimuki to all my Aussie friends.

What a wonderful fine dining experience! We had the tasting menu and everything from the drinks to the bread to the dessert was amazing. The scallops were fresh, the cod was nicely flaky, I don't even like lamb but the texture was so nice that I couldn't resist, the dessert was a hard shell ice cream that you break with your spoon. The service was great, although in an very under-decorated place for a fine dining place - we really enjoyed our time!

This was our first visit and we had a great time. We had a dinner reservation for 5pm and the meal lasted til 7:20pm. The food was interesting, beautiful, and delicious. We did the cocktail pairings and those were fun too. We added a few items to the meal, foie gras, uni brioche and ahi brioche. Several tables also had these and some also had the escargot which looked fabulous as well. The service was smooth. The space was comfortable. The sourdough bread was outstanding. Our favorite dishes were the beef cheek, the kajiki, and hiramasa. I also really liked the black sesame macaron they brought out as a surprise. Yum.

It was so weird walking into the place as from the outside it looks dodgy but the interior of the place is a huge contrast. It’s a nice and cosy place to have an intimate dinner and has a rotating menu that will encourage a return visit. The server we had was very accommodating for us as he gave recommendations and made adjustments to our menu when needed. We were also was quite impressed how almost each dish was brought in by a different staff member and explained to the detail. I also recommend the cocktail pairing because at the end of the day, it’s the most cost efficient drink choice and despite them saying it has less alcohol, if you eat your dishes quick, you will feel the buzz. As this place was quite expensive you do expect top quality and at most times, it was the case but there were just a few exceptions. In terms of food, we loved most of it but was let down by the crab curry. The drinks, were fine too but the last drink in the small glass just tasted like cleaning product and did not pair at all with dessert. We also had to wait for our first cocktails when our first dish arrived which defeats the purpose of a pairing but everything else was prompt. Despite the nitpicking, it really was a good experience that I would recommend if you got the $$ to spare

We had a lovely birthday dinner here. Food and staff were both amazing. Everyone was attentive and friendly! Highly recommend the cocktail pairing add-on with the taster menu!
