The Best Pupusas In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You could come to this Reseda spot several times and not even make it to the pupusa section. That would be a mistake in our books. Mis Raíces’ pupusas are crispy and golden, with scalding hot interiors that require several minutes to cool off before eating. What stands out most though is the sheer variety here. There are 26 different kinds of pupusas on the menu, including shrimp, zucchini and cheese, and squash and spinach. If you’re looking to expand on your usual pupusa routine, head to Mis Raíces." - sylvio martins, brant cox, nikko duren

Google
Excellent restaurant. Accurate Salvadoran flavor. I highly recommend stopping by and eating some pupusas with horchata!

Victoria Marie

Google
All the food is good, and good customer service. Order ahead of showing up. My favorite is the bolio con pollo.

Glad Cedeño

Google
I went there with a friend on a Tuesday to try their Tuesday specials for less than 2$ each. I ordered 2 for to go and a small order of Horchatta. Had them to go and they were sooo good. I mean not yet the best but God they were soooo good. Same with their Horchata. This is a place I would recommend if you need your Salvadoran fix. I only went there for pupusas but I saw a lot more in their menu and they were mouthwatering. I will definitely be back.

Google
Ok Lets start by saying my favorite food is Pupusas, I grew up eating this amazing things and I usually don’t like the Pupusas from random places because they are not authentic, they can either be too greasy, or don’t have enough filling, etc…. Well this place has the best Pupusas, best pan con pollo, etc and all at resonable prices. We ordered 4 Pupusas and a pan for less than $20. The lady was nice when I placed my order and told me food would be ready in 15 mins. The food was authentic and sooo tasty. Place was clean and there seemed to be a good interaction between employees. We will definitely be back.

Google
This place had really good food when they open today I took my kids and I'm so disappoint we order chicken soup soup was. Only water with 4 vegetable ceviche was nasty had litle tiny pieces of shrimp water with salt really disappointed and pupusas were very greasy I pay $30.

Google
I get the especial de desayuno at least once a week, sometimes twice. It comes with coffee included which is a nice bonus.

Justin Mata

Google
This place is the bomb! I can't get over how good their pupusas are and everything I've tried so far has been delicious. We like it so much we came here two days in a row.

Carolina Taillon

Google
This is authentic food from El Salvador. There are other similar restaurants in Reseda, but this one is by far the best. They have various specials throughout the week, but their prices are reasonable everyday. They provide plenty of salsa and curtido with each order. During the current pandemic you can call them to place orders. They give you an approximate time that your order will be ready but usually it is ready sooner and they call to let you know that. Great customer service!

Yelp
Got a takeout order scheduled through Yelp for dinner on a rainy night. Parking was tough in front of the place as there's only street parking so you may need to walk farther down. The lady staff opened the door for me and also kindly took care of me when the customer in front of me was dealing with the cashier. While I waited, I looked around and saw there were several people inside but there was still plentiful seating lined with long tables and chairs. The spot's ambiance is small yet cozy and lively, with warm lighting and a TV mounted up on one of the corners. I had ordered four pupusas revueltas which come with a mix of cheese, chicharron, and beans. They added good sized bags filled with curtido (pickled cabbage relish), kimchi, and tomato sauce with my order. As such, they were extremely yummy to pair the pupusas with and I was happy with the amount given. They were also quite large pupusas, with the span being similar to pancakes so I was happy about that! The only downside was that I asked for extra cheese (which was printed clearly on the receipt), yet the portion of cheese felt like it was the norm, if not maybe less. I had to dig to find the cheese and got good cheese pulls in only a few parts. It was mainly dough and beans rather than chicharron and cheese. I don't know if that's how pupusa ratio should be to be honest. But other than that, it was delicious and I found myself feeling satisfied with my meal. I didn't finish them all and I saved a couple pupusas for the next day!

Letisia G.

Yelp
Pupusas are freshly made and are delicious. They are priced very well. They have specials for Tuesday

Mark S.

Yelp
The best Salvadoran spot in the valley Ben always takes care of me can't beat the quality and prices as well as the customer service, definitely recommend

Niccole R.

Yelp
Pupusas are on point. The garlic pupusas really hit the spot. The chicken soup also is a family favorite.

Yelp
Food!!!! Amazing!!! Service Amazing!!!! My first time here. They have daily specials, today it was $1.65 for bean and cheese papusa's and cheese and squash, it must be placed to go. So I ordered a combo of the pork, cheese and beans and a shrimp and cheese. Comes with the cabbage and hot sauce. Came out scorching hot! So flavorful made to perfection. The two gentlemen up front were so kind to keep checking on me to see how I was doing. When I was done eating they had my to go order ready. If you pay in cash you get a discount. I definitely will be back to try other things on the menu. These may have been the best papausa's I've ever had. The place is busy and I see why. It's a must try. You will not be disappointed

Georgia A.

Yelp
I am planning to serve pupusas for a group and tried one place then came here. I FOUND MY PLACE! We tried the spinach/cheese, cheese/loroco, bean/cheese, and just cheese. All were so DELICIOUS. So fresh and yummy. The owner and waiter were so HELPFUL and INFORMATIVE. I am definitely coming here for my group. Update: 5/14-- Last night my book group met to discuss the book Solito and we had the spinach/cheese and cheese/loroco pupusas, and the chicken salvador. Our whole group enjoyed the yummies! Thank you again

Stanley G.

Yelp
I ate there a few weeks ago with my son who owns Ultimate Food Tours in NYC. We both really enjoyed the food He has the proprietor what the best thing was on the menu and it was some beef with a bone in it and a gravy, and it was a delicious. I had an egg dish which would four stars, my sons choice was to taste your than mine and would give that five stars The people were super nice and we enjoyed our meal and will be back.

Yelp
Super duper good !!! I live down the street from here service was 100% n fast I'm stuffed n happy :))
google avatar

Fernando B.

Yelp
I ordered pupusas to go and I can honestly say they were the best I've ever had here in the San Fernando Valley. I couldn't experience the sitting in service but the staff was very friendly and there was a minor mistake on my order and they were very kind to correct. It might not look sophisticated nor extravagant but it's a nice clean place to eat.
google avatar

Norm R.

Yelp
Honestly idk why i gave this place another try. I ordered pupusas de arroz. The dough was under cooked causing it to fall apart in a cracking way that we couldn't even pick up a piece of the pupusa. we paid extra for the rice flour and it was not even edible. We had to toss them out, if theres lack of knowledge in that recipe id remove it from your menu before making someone sick.
google avatar

Karla G.

Yelp
This restaurant is definitely doing better. They're still making the pupusas con loroco too thick (too much maza), but they've improved. They forgot to include my plátanos on two occasions, but made up for one of those times during my last order. I appreciate them taking ownership of their mistakes and offering to make up for it. The food is still overpriced for Salvadorean food, but let's be real...everything is overpriced these days. At least it tends to be worth it 8/10 times. The desayunos con huevo con vegetales y plátanos y queso, and the pupusas de frijol con queso and queso con loroco are definitely my fav.
google avatar

Kristofer R.

Yelp
The food was ordered via Ubereats and was packaged with all condiments for the pupusas. Only thing that didn't come with our order was flavor. The prices aren't bad but it's also not good. I ordered pupusas revueltas and one de loroco con queso and it just was lacking that yummy flavor you get from a good pupusa. If you want some pupusas that are in the Canoga park area, I guess this is your go to, but don't have high expectations.
google avatar

Mirella G.

Yelp
I use to live it here for over a year but lately when i've order thru delivery i get the food very burnt or not enough effort anymore and it sucks
google avatar

Nina E.

Yelp
I'm typing this review as I'm eating their pupusas and drinking their horchata. Everything is absolutely delicious. Will definitely order again. They are also fairly priced.

Ed S.

Yelp
This place is a little gem! Don't be put off by the 'Mom & Pop' appearance. I knew nothing about Salvadorean fare and Mis Raices was terrific. The food was Excellent...and great coffee, too. Christian was a wonderful and attentive host who helped me through the menu choices. Great Food. Great Service. Great Prices. I will be back. THANK YOU.

Yelp
Mis raíces is my #1 Salvadoran place to go too here in the valley!! The food is delicious and well portioned, their Pupusas are very tasteful and satisfying, my son loves their panes con pollo he always orders that. Their chicken soup is also really good and we always end up with empanadas de leche as pastry. All the servers there are welcoming, super attentive and nice. They greet you with a smile they make you feel at home!! Thai place is always clean, I recommend this place if you want authentic Salvadoran food!!

Magdalena S.

Yelp
Rude. Prices ridiculous. Pupusas are bad too much masa and very little filling. Every time I go get my order the cook is diferent. Flavor bad to worst. I don't recommend it to anyone.

Cristy G.

Yelp
The most disgusting most rude f*cking people I have ever met in my life. This place is a such a disgrace the plates were dirty and the cups were dirty. I also found several hair follicles on my food so nasty. This place should be inspected I saw cockroaches all over the floor. I even found a cockroach on my plate! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS "RESTAURANT". FOUL

Erik R.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend the pupusas they are not Salvadorian they don't taste like a pupusa I don't taste the cheese whatsoever I wouldn't suggest coming here and don't get me wrong I'm all about the chicharrón and supporting businesses but this didn't taste right and it actually kinda ruined my meal
google avatar

Jacqueline J.

Yelp
I am obsessed with these authentic Pupusas here. The best Pupusas in the valley. The owners of this restaurant are sweet and welcoming. Call ahead to order for a short to no wait time. They have sales on Pupusas on Tuesday's and Wednesday. Check them out!
google avatar

Mr. C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Pan con pollo, so tasty. Exactly how my mother-in-law would make it. Simply delicious. Pupusas too. Cooked fresh as you wait.
google avatar

Janet M.

Yelp
Stopped by while in the area, and woah these are one of the best pupusas I've had. I had a bean & cheese pupusa and agua de maracuyá , my boyfriend had the same but with agua de tamarindo, both beverages work so rich in flavor with the perfect amount of sugar. The pupusas were soo good alone without the toppings, so that alone says a lot.
google avatar

Aramiss M.

Yelp
Ordered my food online, it was so tasty and reminded me of childhood. Can't wait to order again soon!
google avatar

I. Aracely T.

Yelp
The pupusas here are the best I've tried in the valley. If you're planning to pick up from the store make sure to phone in your order before. If you order at the counter it can take awhile to get your food. I usually just doordash it about an hour earlier than I plan to eat.
google avatar

Nellie V.

Yelp
The pupusas are usually very good but the customer service is always great. Happy people will greet you and the prices are reasonable.

Mike A.

Yelp
So far, the best tasting salvadorean pupusas empanadas, chicken soup in the valley.once you try it and you are hooked forever

Erick B.

Yelp
google avatar

Hugo B.

Yelp
Mis Raices pupusas are amazing, the taste is great. I really like the way they make their pupusas, they really valance their filling to corn masa ratio. Other pupusas are mostly corn masa and a little filling, but not here. I personally like the revueltas pupusas, but they all taste great. I'm Mexican, but I grew up in the valley eating pupusas. I have nothing, but love for Salvadorean people and cuisine
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
Love their pan con pollo and popusas. Must try the cheese with chicharon. Super delicious.

Isabella V.

Yelp
Mine & My families go to favorite place for fresh popusas Definitely would recommend to try out!

Pamela L.

Yelp
I really like this place. The pupusas taste authentic, tamales are great, sopa de pollo is great, empanadas de plátano are great. Their homemade tortillas remind me of El Salvador I've read some reviews that hate on this place but I've never had any issues. The employees are nice and when I'm craving homemade tasting food from the motherland, this is my go to spot.

Marina P.

Yelp
I usually love the food here. but I drove here and got to the restaurant at 8:30pm to get pupusas and the girls said I couldn't ordered that anymore because they had a lot of orders. how is that my fault ? or put a sign that says no pupusas after 8pm

Christine K.

Yelp
Delicious pupusas! I've been coming here forever and quality has never gone down. Great service too
google avatar

Israel J.

Yelp
Best Pupusas in Reseda.. definitely recommend this restaurant. Try it out can go wrong!

Rachel T.

Yelp
SO good!! We ordered 9 pupusas via UberEats from here and they were sooo delicious and flavorful, perfect temperature too. I had a phone call that went 30 minutes past when my food arrived, and it was still as if they were freshly made with no sacrifice to the quality. The pupusas were also super filling, so we have plenty left over. I'd 1000% eat here again, so impressed!
google avatar

Devoney A.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE the pupusas salvadoreñas here!! Great flavor and my favorite is the calabaza y queso pupusa!
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
Was craving papusas and convinced my bro, sister-in-law and mom to order some for lunch even though they never had. We ordered the following flavors: cheese, spinich and cheese, and bean and cheese. All we sooo good! VERY big in size (super generous with portions almost the size of a quesadilla). It comes with the vinegar cabbage slaw and red sauce (tomato vinegar sauce ? Not spicy). We also ordered empanadas de leche (they tasted like mashed sweet plantains with a soft cheese in the middle). It was really nice. Everyone was very content and pleased with their first time trying papusas.

Domelin B.

Yelp
Muy buena atención y uno de los mejores comidas de este lugar recomendable y la amablidad de los empleados un un lugar bueno muy agradecido estoy
google avatar

Renato S.

Yelp
Nope! No, I don't think so. Nah! There is nothing good about this review, just like their menu.
google avatar

Melissa E.

Yelp
I'm in awe of how the Pan con Pollo tasted. It was so delicious . I honestly want another one! I loved the sauce on the side, this is the spot to get your antojitos for Salvi food. It tasted like my mom made it. Brought me back to Saturday's getting our plátano frito on with beans and sour cream. So worth it. I would of provided a picture but it smelled so good and I ate it all up before thinking of taking one. I will definitely be ordering more to come!
google avatar

Bravo M.

Yelp
I've been their client about 6 years and I'm kind of happy in here just couple of times they forgot to put my tortillas in my orders and I called them right after I found out and they just said, oh next time you'll get double tortillas and I had to eat my food without tortillas. Before when I had bought pupusas I always asked, is there any special, And they're like nop there is no special but know because of the pandemic they have special now but well time changes but I like dis place and I will be coming to buy more pupusas.. MAY GOD BLESS US ALL!!!!!!
google avatar

Araceli R.

Yelp
I love their pupusas and now they are making them bigger, what I don't like is that they give you little sauce. Now with the pandemic they are having specials Yesterday I ordered 8 beans and cheese pupusas and I paid 13.14 I will continue ordering on tuesdays if they keep their pupusas specials
google avatar

Mika L.

Yelp
When you go somewhere to order pupusas, there's a good amount of things you have to take into consideration. Does it have enough filling? Is it too oily? Is it a good size? Is the salsa good quality? Is the curtido just right? This should be the basics when it comes to having that A-quality pupusa experience from ANYWHERE (yes, the salsa and curtido that comes with it should ALWAYS be taken into consideration because it can make or break the meal as well). For starters, I was really taking a chance with this place. I don't like switching up the places I get my pupusas from because I'm very wary over if they'll taste well. Unfortunately, the place I wanted to get them from does not offer delivery. It was plain luck that I found this convenient place to order from! I almost didn't because I do think that their prices for pupusas are a little too much, but nonetheless I decided it wouldn't hurt this one time to spend the extra dollar on them. In the end, I'm very glad I did. The pupusas were amazing !! The size of them were good and they were still hot (I should know, I almost burnt my hand while trying taking them out of the foam container). My sister and I each ate 2 of them, and despite being full, we split another one because they were just THAT good!! My only complaint is that there wasn't a lot of salsa, but I also feel like the amount of curtido we received made up for that. With all that being said, I'll definitely be ordering from here again!

Vanessa M.

Yelp
very tasty pupusa! great service :) i ordered delivery but i'm sure would have been better in restaurant. amazing cabbage mix :)
google avatar

Aileen R.

Yelp
I cannot believe I barley came to Mis Raices Salvadoran Cuisine. My brother, Marvin R. recommended this restaurant. The pupusas are really good. They are not oily, taste good and are a good portion. You are able to order different types of pupusas. beans and cheese, beans, cheese and pork, cheese, only beans etc. The restaurant is small but the delicious pupusas and good service make up for it. What I like is that the menu is visible with pictures so you are able to see what the food dishes look like. I would like to come in again and try other items on the menu and give an updated review but as far as the pupusas go they are great.

Kiki S.

Yelp
Love this place !! they have variety of delicious Salvadoran foods the empanadas are the customer service is excellent this is our favorite place to relax and enjoy !! We're loyal customers!!

Tracie N.

Yelp
I usually order food online for delivery. I'm a big fan of the pupusas here. The pupusas are always delicious and fresh. The food always arrives hot. Highly recommend.

Sylvia N.

Yelp
I ordered beef soup, and meat was hard and dried out, like it was in the freezer for days. The vegetables were raw, hard uncooked. I told the cashier about the food and told me that everything is cooked separated. That's why the soup was awful. Pupusas are OK, people are nice but soups are terrible. In another occasion I had ordered beef soup to take home and it didn't have any meat. Same experience, vegetables raw, uncooked but no meat in the soup.
google avatar

Anonymous A.

Yelp
It hurts to leave a bad review. The staff is kind, but it does not make up for the bad food. The taste is decent, but not a Salvadorian taste is ain't popping out- everything they cook is reheated from the previous day or reused - because they get busy on Pupusa-Day (Tuesday special) they don't cook them through and prefer quantity over quality!
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Not bad of a spot, really good food if you're looking for home cooked meals. Las pupusas revueltas are my family's favorite. They usually don't take too long to make your food but if you catch them at their busiest it can take up to one hour so call ahead. The dinning is small I don't recommend sitting there if you're trying to keep safe from Covid. However overall very good food.
