The service is so great here! The waiters are always quick to top off your drink & check in often. The food is pretty good, however, nothing that totally “wows” me.

Grade 95: Mistral should mean dependable in French, This restaurant has been excellent since we first started going here more than 10 years ago. The John Dory came as a huge portion and it was prepared so well that I enjoyed they morsel. While I don't like Escargot, this one I ate 2 pieces because it looked so good and the taste didn't disappoint. Desserts, While the Bread Pudding was downright the winner, the Creme Brullee was a close second. We also had the Steak Frites, Med-Rare, amazing. No wonder we keep coming back.

Our favorite French restaurant! The managers and staff are top notch and know how to serve at a perfect pace and style. They skillfully flow around the restaurant ensuring every guest is taken care of- which makes it a fantastic experience overall. You can’t go wrong with their snails, French onion soup 🤤and fish!

Excellent service, the owner is almost always there and he is very friendly with the visitors. Very good French food, great selection of meat, fish, appetisers. Beautiful classic interior. I Recommend.

Tonight was my first time dining in but it won’t be my last. I’m a big French Bistro fan and have been to most in town and would consider this one of the better ones. In the valley my favorite two are here and Petit Trois a few blocks away. The inside is well done and cozy, but not too crowded. Service was a bit slow tonight, but the meal was still very good overall. We started off with the Steak Tartare and it was great. A healthy sized portion with tons of flavor, and the toasted bread with it was very nice. Next we ordered the Tomato, Cucumber, & Sweet Onions and we really loved this dish. The tomatoes are always great in California and the lemon dressing was the perfect choice. For my entree I chose the John Dory, which was panko crusted and not a usual choice for me, but I did like it on this dish. It was another healthy sized portion, of fish this time, so overall I enjoyed how shareable and large each dish was. We had an event after dinner so we passed on the chocolate soufflé but I plan to order that next time. Overall it was a really delicious meal and I plan to return in the near future.

Mistral is a no thrills outdated bistro. The service was a bit slow at points and the restaurant was very dark and noisy. It is definitely past its glory days. Prices are steep and food is mediocre at best...

Took my wife's father there for his birthday. We sat in the patio section which was great because I was able to easily take our baby for a stroll when he got fussy. Food was pretty good. Pricier that other French restaurants that we frequent because Mistral gives slightly more food. For example, I ordered angel hair pasta and fries for my 3-year old, and they brought servings good for the whole table. I ordered duck confit, which at other places would be one piece of leg. However, they have 2 nice sized portions. We bought of bottle of their wine because bringing our own would have been a $40 corkage fee. We brought a small birthday cake and they do charge a $4 cutting fee per slice. Good service although my wife pointed out to me that there were no females on staff at all anywhere inside the restaurant on this pretty busy night. I don't know if that was just for that night or what. Good experience overall and would make another visit if I'm ever craving French food in the Valley.

If you are looking for a classy, welcoming, and absolutely stunning dining experience, Mistral is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an ambiance that was both elegant and inviting. The food was nothing short of incredible. We started with the escargot, which was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, and the beef tartare, which was equally delightful. The beet salad was another standout - fresh, vibrant, and simply fantastic. For our mains, I had the John Dory, and let me tell you, it was so delicious I practically licked the plate clean! My husband had the duck confit, and it was a perfect balance of sweet and savory - tender, rich, and absolutely divine. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Mistral is truly a gem, and we can't wait to come back for another unforgettable meal. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed a nice brisket with some wine. It was a mountain of beef on my plate with some vegetable garnish. Awesome meal, delicious and filled up. I also tasted their fries and steak, and if you like fries, hot damn! I'll be returning. A gem in disguise. Amazing service, attention to detail, spectacular, delicious food. So it really is tough because it's between a 3 and a 4 for review. The food is good, but it isn't as good as the prices would make you think. Some of the service is great, but our server was just okay. I tried to ask questions about wine and he just said it's good. Had to ask to learn soup du jour, etc. I had the mussels. Good, not great. Fries were great though. Started with the crab cake and it was good though the sauce is a bit too mustardy so it took away from the crab. Really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad. The soufflé was something I wouldn't waste time on again. For me not to finish a dessert is unheard of, but I left some behind. It's very very loud but it's fun. Overpriced though.

First things first, food was exceptional and every dish was on point! We visited with a party of 4 and between the four of us we managed to enjoy reasonable mix of items on the menu and having shared most of the items, I can confidently say it doesn't matter what you order, you'll be satisfied (side note on pricing, both food and wine menus are very very reasonably priced for such a sit down restaurant). As far as service, you can tell everyone works as a team! Very rare to come across down a days. Everyone is paying attention to every table, not like other places where servers concentrate on their tables and can care less what happens on other tables. Also, attention to details, to make sure everyone has a great experience was exceptional. At one point, a staff member approached to adjust our wobbling table, which was so little that we had not even noticed. These things are small and unnoticed gestures but must be pointed out to show that customers do appreciate and they do notice! The dining areas was very warm and welcoming. Thank you for a great night and an exceptional dinner experience!

A cozy Chicago/European bistro feel to this classic & beloved L.A. eatery with black & white tile floors, and cozy tables. Fine white tablecloth dining and fine service at reasonable prices. No tiny-taste portions here, and it never disappoints. Be sure to try the green soup. You can tell that Ownership has its eyes on every detail up to and including the wonderful whimsical artwork on the big wall by the bar. Had the grilled salmon done perfectly with mixed vegetables that were sauteed and tasty and the broccoli soup. Delicious.

We went for dinner for the first time and absolutely love this place. Food is amazing, service is great, wine selection is great, and you feel like you're in Paris or New York with the cozy vibes of this restaurant. We had the escargot-best we've had since Paris. Chocolate soufflé is a must, and for entree's we tried the NY steak, pappardelle beef stroganoff, and branzino. We were with a party of four and we each got different entrees to try and we loved it all. Needless to say we left super stuffed yet satisfied with our yummy meals. We'll definitely be coming back!

All the classic French menu options available at Mistral to transform you into a spacious elegant restaurant in Paris. From French onion soup to the Steak au Poivre with a delectable serving of fries, you can count on all the popular favorites to be on the menu. The service is amicable which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. I deeply appreciate the full bar knowing how to make a French Connection and French 75 just right and serving them in the proper glass. We ordered the burrata salad (not French, especially since the cheese came from Puglia, Italy) which was nicely dressed. The parpadella mushroom pasta was not seasoned correctly and therefore lacked flavor; however, the rich flavors of various mushrooms wrapped in perfectly prepared pasta made this dish delectable. Our New York Steak au Poivre was overcooked (we ordered medium and served medium-well) which was surprising for a restaurant claiming to be a steakhouse. The fries were truly the star item on our plate. We finished our meal with a chocolate soufflé which was the BEST item we ordered to make our dining experience special.

Special occasion family dinner. Ambience can not be beat. Transports you to a lovely upscale bistro in Paris. That is worth something. We have been coming to Mistral for years and the food/service has always been consistent. However on this latest experience, the food had declined just a bit. All of our entrees lacked enough sauce. Steak au poivre, steak with garlic butter sauce, chicken in mustard sauce, they were all a bit dry. The veggies with the chicken were unfortunate. Squash, turnips, etc ... they were mealy and dry. Hard to mess up a side of veg. Service was professional and friendly, but missed a little bit of the personal touch that we remembered. It was hubby's birthday and he has chosen Mistral as his special occasion restaurant for years. After the dinner, he said - I think we'll go to *** instead next year.

Service was attentive and friendly; unfortunately everything food wise was hovering well below par. The atmosphere is dark and moody, maybe European feeling until you notice the giant tv screen at the bar playing a Dodgers game. As your eyes adjust to the darkness, you notice everyone looks past 50 and heavily disfigured from plastic surgery. Food was uninspired completely all the way down to the ice cream on the dessert. Vanilla ice cream should be an easy win but it was the nail in the coffin for me.

Food, service, ambiance: 100/10 WOW! We were blown away when we came here for a date night. My husband and I were greeted with the warmest welcome, seated right away, and tended to like no other restaurant we've been to in Los Angeles, or any place ever in fact! For appetizers we started with the Imported from Puglia Burrata dish which came with arugula, peaches, and tomatoes and it was the perfect way to start the evening. We followed that up with the escargot: mind you we have only eaten escargot at one other place, and we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious theirs were, will for sure order again! For dinner we split the crispy skin Branzino and some potatoes au gratin and it did not disappoint. For dessert we had an affogato and the chocolate soufflé. The perfect evening, the best food, and a romantic date night. Our server Luis H. went above and beyond, and we are so grateful he made our dining experience one to remember. If you are in the valley, this little hidden gem is a must! We will most definitely be back :)

In my opinion one of the best restaurants in the valley. They have been open since the late 80s and it is truly a gem. Reservations are hard to get especially on the weekends but they are very accommodating. Owner is present everyday and makes sure that his business works like a very well oiled machine. Steak au poivre and john dory are top notch and the fries are to die for. Cocktails are amazing too. Dont forget to order a chocolate soufflé.

Amazing! It's truly an amazing restaurant with even better food than I had expected. No offense to the restaurant, I guess I wasn't prepared for everything to taste so great. From the hostess sitting us down at our table, to our stellar waiter who took our order, to being served an exceptional plate of delicious food, my experience was definitely a 10+! I had the Burgundy Escargot and the Crispy Skin Imported Branzino with Lemon-Olive Oil. I was throughly impressed with the food, I mean throughly and extremely impressed with the quality and taste of my food. I wish you could grade my experience with 100 Stars. I was not expecting my meal to rock my world like it did. The bread, the drinks from the bar, the fabulous service from all and the attention to detail, nothing was missed. To the owner of Mistral, you are a genius! Well done sir. That was the best meal I've had in years, thank you!

I went a couple of weeks ago with a friend and this was such an amazing spot! The tuna tartar is amazing, it comes with lettuce that makes every bite taste like a wave of freshness, our amazing server Joe recommended we tried it with bread and let me tell you I did not regret it, we had the pappardelle pasta and the angel hair pasta for the entree and it they were both delicious, I'm not a fan of mushrooms so I would normally not go close to anything that has any but I decided to try it and I finished the whole plate in one sitting, it was amazing and I was already getting full! The angel hair pasta was also delicious, I decided to add the chicken breast and it only made it better. When we were done Joe brought us a chocolate soufflé that was astonishing, I could not eat anymore yet I found myself bot being able to stop, Joe definitely made the experience better with an amazing service and I hope to come back soon!

We came here on a whim on a random Thursday night and I think I just found my new favorite restaurant. The service was the best I've had in my 10+ years in LA, and the food was truly phenomenal. I had the risotto and we split one of the best chocolate souffles I've ever had. We'll definitely be back!

Mistral is our number one choice for dining out for a variety of reasons... First of all... the food here is EXCEPTIONAL! ... which explains why making a reservation is best if you want to get a table. The service here is OUTSTANDING! The Ambiance in the main dining room feels like you are in a beautiful luxury restaurant in Paris. They also have an outdoor patio in the back that we have also enjoyed. The menu is a delight for the senses and while i have tried almost everything on it (because we come a lot) my personal favourites are #1 the John Dory & #2 the Brisket. Trust me.. I know you can get this in so many restaurants around LA, however, you have never had it like they prepare it.. it's off the chain good!!! The newest edition to this crown jewel is their private dining room! We hosted a large birthday dinner in there and everyone was blown away! We were able to play our own music as it is completely separate from the main restaurant so we had total privacy & we could laugh, dance, sing etc! What is also incredible is that despite the enormous popularity & success of Mistral, it's like coming to dine with friends/family in a place that is regularly frequented by celebs. The owner, Henri, is always warm & welcoming... as is Raul who also makes everyone feel special. Their love of what they do truly comes from the heart and you really do feel that. I truly love Mistral.. everything about this place is an absolute delight

I'm absolutely blown away!! First of all, I worked in hospitality for many years, and the service here was top quality. The level of attentiveness, while never feeling overly invasive was perfection. Everyone was kind and made the night incredibly special. The atmosphere is perfect as well. The vibe is Gatsby classy, yet comfortable. I loved it. And now to the food and drinks... I had the French Onion Soup, Linguini with Clams, and we shared the Chocolate Soufflé. Everything was truly stunning! Even the blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini stood out in quality. We will definitely be adding this into our regular rotation for special nights out and I highly recommend you stop by!

*****UPDATE MAY 2024:***** Since my last time going here the restaurant has decided to add 20+ dollars to all their menu items for the exact same menu. It would be one thing if there were new offerings to the menu but it is literally the exact same menu as before with everything costing an extra 20 dollars on top. The food was lackluster at best especially for the increased price, and service was absolutely horrendous. I've never seen a staff be so inattentive that they mixed sparkling and still water in a water cup, realize that they did so, and hope that no one noticed them. I am so throughly disappointed with the turn this restaurant has decided to take with cutting corners and hiking prices.

This place is absolutely amazing! My wife and I went for her birthday. At the beginning of the meal they asked if I was interested in a soufflé but I said no because we already had cake waiting for us at home. To our surprise upon hearing that it was my wife's birthday, they prepared & served us a soufflé gratis. We were so delighted! We were already planning on coming back, but after that we will keep Mistral as one of our absolute favorites

Mistral never fails us. We get take out from here every week and it is always delicious and perfectly presented. Take out service is easy and they are very accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant. First class establishment with amazing food!!!

First time dining at Mistral! Came here for dinela cause the menu looked so good. I got the beet/orange/goat cheese salad, brisket with mashed potatoes and Brussels, and the chocolate mousse. My husband got the mussels with fries and an onion soup. I loved the salad so much! The brisket was good, a little fatty and there was too much sauce on the plate for my liking. But it was still tender and tasty! My husbands mussels were teeny tiny, and the broth was more like a butter sauce which was delicious to dip the bread in. Fries were perfectly crispy too. The onion soup was thick and cheesy just as you would expect. The chocolate mousse was perfection! For my husbands birthday they brought out a little crème brûlée with a candle in it which was appreciated. The crisp top of the crème brûlée was delicious, but the actual crème was a little on the thin side, I guess I'm used to having it a slightly more thick consistency. The service was phenomenal, very nice waiters and they kept coming over to fill our water glasses and give us fresh warm bread. Exactly the type of service you would expect from an upscale restaurant. We sat in the back patio which was a little loud and you could smell cigarettes from people smoking in the alley, but they had nice lighting and heaters available. The inside was definitely a vibe and would prefer to dine there next time. I would totally come back to try more items on the menu! I think this is a great place to come for a special occasion or romantic date night.

We use to go to Mistral quite often before the Pandemic. We have forgotten how great the food is. We have also forgotten how noisy it gets too. It is still worth it not only the food but also the service is fantastic. I also liked that they give you a little breather in between courses. We went to celebrate my birthday and my mother-in-law's. Delicious desserts. Love their Chocolate Soufflé. I am glad to hear that they are expanding. Thanks Henry and Raul.

What an amazing place. Lots of room including a new space with more comfortable seating. The waiters are outstanding. The food, especially the steaks are marvelous. Prime steaks include potato and salad. But, there's more choices like fish cooked to perfection and their lamb shank is to die for. It's a great evening, don't. Is it. Jack Gold

My hubby and I were craving good French food and found this place on Yelp. It was rated really well so we decided to come here. Made a reservation on Open Table. We were able to find street parking, but they do have valet available. Got there and checked in with the host, who was very friendly but a bit loud. He sat us and we looked over the menu to see what we wanted to order. It was dark and intimate with candles but I will say the big TV playing sports at the bar kinda ruins the ambiance. My hubby was looking over the wine menu but the reflection from the TV made it hard for him to see the menu. In the end we just ordered individual glasses of red and white. Our waiter was nice and friendly. We ordered the french onion soup to start, escargots and beef tartare to share, as well as the Mussels and duck confit as our mains. He asked if we wanted the chocolate Souffle as that took a while to prepare, so we said yes. Soup was delicious and came with bread to dip. I will say this was pretty heavy! The escargots, which we were most excited for were just ok, but beef tartare was tasty. The Mussells and Duck Confit were decent but lacked sauce. Chocolate Souffle came out and we were stuffed but it was nice. Overall it was a decent, slightly disappointing experience.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving/Anniversary lunch at Mistral today. Fantastic food; fantastic staff; terrific atmosphere. Thank you Raoul and all the staff for making our day and meal special. Can't wait to return and enjoy the regular menu.

I've been here a few times now, and I've always enjoyed the experiences coming here to the Mistral. The food is incredible, very delicious, and everything tasted so fresh. The service was extremely friendly, not just to our table, but everyone there at the restaurant was having a nice time and chatting with their servers. It looked like some folks were regulars by how warm and open they were chatting with the staff. The ambiance was also very nice and overall it was a great experience. Would love to come back again and try more on their menu.

If you want amazing quality, French cuisine then Mistral is the place to go! Went on a late Friday night with a reservation. Great wine selection! We went with a bottle of the 2015 Margaux. We sat in the back patio that was well lit and quiet, very intimate. They give you a tasty cheese puff pastry to begin. Great way to start those taste buds off. The bread was a bit hard but some good butter always helps. Their escargot was great! Well cooked and very tasty. French fries were standard. For the mains we started with the Crisp Duck Confit, the orange sauce really paired well and those creamy mash potatoes with yummy Brussel sprouts! Then we had the lamb chops that were seasoned and cooked to perfection! Absolutely bone-licking good! Veggies were yummy and potatoes au gratin were standard. We ended with the angel hair pasta with shrimp because if you're full, there's always room for some good pasta :) we ended with their chocolate lava cake and we savored every last morsel. Overall it was a great experience. Only thing is it was a bit hard to communicate with the servers. The service was still on point but the masks make it difficult to understand them at times.

10 of us for our annual family dinner. One of our sons recommended this restaurant due to its Yelp reviews. None of us had been here before. The reviews were spot on. The food was excellent and every employees was friendly and polite. The service was exceptional. We never had to ask for anything. We all said when leaving that we would definitely return and recommend.

The restaurant is adorable! Very unexpected and so pleasant. The indoor eating area is moody and great for a nice dinner and the outdoor patio is lovely, especially on a nice day. The service was impeccable! The servers work so great as a team and were kind, quick, & knowledgeable. Five stars for them! The food was only okay. We had the escargots appetizer (my first time and thought it was cool), bread was nice, NY steak garlic-parsley-butter + fries - cooked to a great medium and decent sear but not a lot of flavor, fries were nice and crispy. The duck confit was probably our favorite dish- crispy skin, succulent and juicy, the sauce was reminiscent of thanksgiving though and the Brussels and mash were bland. My favorite part was the service cute spot but food is only okay.

Walking in you can see that the restaurant is absolutely charming and beautiful, the food was wonderful too! We started with the onion soup, had grilled salmon and chicken paillard for lunch and finished with the most perfect chocolate soufflé! Everything was delicious, and our sever, Joe, was incredible! Very knowledgeable about the menu and was super attentive. We were lucky enough to meet the sweet owner, Henry and his darling sister. What a treat that was!! We loved our lunch, can't wait to go back! Thank you so much!

I have been going to Mistral for many years now, and have never once been disappointed. My group of friends and I usually save it for special occasions, but sometimes we go just because we love being there. For those of you who love the intimacy of smaller New York restaurants, you'll find that same atmosphere at Mistral. The food is always the best, as is the service---never disappointing. Definitely a 5-Star experience.

Alex Martinez our waiter was great! It was my 88th birthday that I celebrated with my friend and he brought two desserts and we had terrific service and food! The best time. I had Caesar salad and she had the hamburger it was great! This is my favorite restaurant!

What I recommend: the steak and chicken Dijon. The drinks are great! the bartender knows what he is doing. The lemon drop he made was so good No complaints. Come here for date night or a fun celebration. They have a cool outdoor area in the back that's really cute!

If there was less than one star, I would happily give it to this restaurant. We went there to celebrate my brother's birthday expecting an enjoyable time. We ordered drinks ... took the waiter one hour to bring. We ordered another round of drinks but ended up cancelling after another looooong wait. The food was shabby with no taste, just texture. On top of this, an over crowded small patio with people crammed in. In all, they basically ruined our occasion. A terrible experience. Will never patronize this place again.

We had dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary. Food was stellar, the reception was warm and inviting, wait staff friendly and efficient. Not inexpensive, so for most people a "special occasion " restaurant, but not crazy prices for this quality either.
