"Mixtape is a bar that looks like a middle school boy’s dream living room. There are bean bag chairs, a giant projection TV, and a board game selection rivaling Toys-R-Us (RIP). All of this would be great on its own, but Mixtape also serves some of the best drinks in the city. There’s nowhere else we know where you play Guess Who while sipping cocktails this good. This is our go-to spot for impressing visitors who aren’t yet convinced that Pittsburgh is cool, and you can expect to see people in sweatpants on their laptops taking advantage of the free wifi right next to groups pregaming for a night out." - Madeline Quigley

Merry Mingling🎄 This place is absolutely amazing with pop-ups! My husband and I recently attended the “A Very Merry Mixtape” and were blown away! As we entered, we were brought into Santa’s workshop full of toys. Once through the next door, you were transported to a Winter Wonderland of fun! Tons of garland and shimmery ball ornaments hung from the ceiling, light up Christmas characters around each corner, trees galore…it was wonderful! We received a drink with our ticket which was so tasty! Popcorn was available for purchase along with other drinks including cocoa for the kids or non-drinkers. After relaxing with our drinks, we began our quest to find all the QR codes in the establishment to answer questions with changes to win some cute little prizes. Other games available too. It was a relaxing night away from the kids with great photo ops! Would definitely return for another pop-up! Casual and Cozy. Dancing, food and drinks at bar, pinball machines. Credit/Debit cards accepted. *wheelchair accessible entrance, seating and restroom. Free street parking, somewhat difficult to find a spot.

Incredibly fun bar with great vibes and possibly the best espresso martini I've had in Pittsburgh. They have a bunch of different themed events with live DJs and an open space to dance. There's a good amount of seating but the tables get filled pretty fast so if you're with a group is can be hard to find somewhere to settle down on a busy night. Definitely recommend going for an event and treating yourself to a specialty cocktail. Usually a $10 cover from what I've seen for events.

This place is awesome! Last night I attended their event "Nightmare Before Mixtape" which essentially was fully decorating the place in everything Tim Burton related. Not only were the decorations and themed drinks great but there was a girl dressed as Wednesday Addams and interacting in character with you as you completed challenges around the place such as trivia and games. After the event was over at 9, the place had a DJ spinning New Wave 80's music. Everyone there was having a good time just enjoying the vibe. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for something unique in the Burgh this Halloween, and it appears they redecorate and have other events all year. I'm looking forward to coming back soon.

Took my daughter to The Nightmare before Mixtape Tim Burton themed event. The hosts were wonderful!!! Beetlejuice and Lydia absolutely nailed it. The decor was super cute and very well done and the mocktails were perfect. The games were also a nice touch. I think the time slot was the perfect amount of time for the price!

Google
This place seems to be highly rated, so I’m not sure whether I visited at a wrong time or something was off that day because I did not think that this place was very interesting. We had a 40 mins wait at Apteka, so we wanted to kill some time with couple of drinks in the neighbourhood. This was a Friday evening at around 9 PM, and the bar was completely empty. The aesthetics are unique to put it that way, but not necessarily my vibe. The staff were extremely friendly and nice. The cocktail menu is not extensive, and you can only choose from a couple of cocktails. We went with the recommendation from the bartender and both of us chose the same drink, and it was really tasty. I was disappointed with the food choice because I wanted to not drink empty stomach and the only thing they had food wise was popcorn, which tasty wasn’t anything particularly interesting. We sat for maybe half an hour finished drinks and then left. Maybe we need to visit at another time when there is a party or something going on.

Google
Love this place! Great food, and great drinks! If you are looking for a cozy spot to take a partner or just unwind with some music this is the place. The volume isn't too loud, so you can carry a conversation, which is perfect for me.

Bill Urbanic

Google
Had a delicious cocktail here with rye whiskey and ginger beer. Most of the signature cocktails are classics with a small twist, but the two I tried were balanced and tasty. The vibe was fun, with pinball machines and a plethora of disco balls.

This place is vibrant! Beautiful alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a new food menu. They support Pittsburgh artists and great Dj’s! And kid friendly!!! Grab some food and drinks and relax in the top neighborhood bar in the Burgh!

Yelp
We went to A Very Merry Mixtape on Thursday for one of their family friendly sessions. It was awesome! 1) the place was amazingly decorated. Not a space unfilled 2) you get a free drink with your ticket and then the bar is available with a variety of cocktails and mocktails 3) the hosts- aunt merry and krampus were so great! They even let my daughter be a judge 4) they had fun trivia and other games available during our 90 minute stay. They mentioned they would be gutting the place in January and then will reopen with a brand new theme. We can't wait! Will definitely be back.

Karen H.

Yelp
We checked out the A Very Merry Mixtape pop up and as usual, their decorations were gorgeous! There were so many beautiful photo ops and fun games you can play to make it an immersive experience! Krampus and Gay the Elf did a great job of setting the tone and running the games. Reminder (because I forgot) all the time slots before 7pm are kid friendly so be sure to plan around that. Each ticket comes with a welcome drink and 90 minute time slot and there are other drinks available to purchase.

Zabrina H.

Yelp
Mixtape Christmas pop up bar is the best in town! Decorated to perfection and a fun game night led by the staff. I'm also sober so appreciated the N/A drink options.

Angie C.

Yelp
I really appreciate how Mixtape puts thought into their holiday pop-ups. I've been here for Halloween and Christmas events, most recently A Very Merry Mixtape. Tickets are sold as 90-minute event experiences to avoid the experience you have at some other pop-ups where it's so overwhelmingly crowded that you just can't enjoy yourself. Here, they are managing the crowd appropriately and during your session you have access to staff -- a couple of themed hosts running trivia and games -- and the bar, which is busy but not completely overrun. Drinks are largely on the sweet side as you would expect at these types of pop-ups but offer a good mix of flavors and are thoughtfully crafted. There are endless photo opportunities and I can't even begin to imagine what all goes into setting up the decor here. It is a LOT but somehow it is segmented into sections so that each one works within itself, and they all work together. It's a lot of fun and a fantastic stop on your holiday pop-up circuit.

Jessica F.

Yelp
I've been here several times, most recently for the Tinseltown holiday pop-up. Unlike other holiday bars in the area, you buy tickets for a specific time. This is good because the bar isn't overly crowded, but we did feel sort of rushed and the advertised drink including with the ticket price is definitely not full size... only a few sips. That being said, the elves were hilarious and the cocktail list was inventive. I had the hot cider drink and it was delicious! Decorations were so fun and there was plenty of space to sit with friends and chat. Service was very friendly here too!

Milo B.

Yelp
This Illy Philly needed some culture in her life as she hasn't had some in a while... books, school and work...smh... I saw the information for the art installation of Alice in Wonderland at Mixtape and thought, YES!!!! I love Mixtape and their wonderfully crafted drinks and service. The Bartenders are always phenomonal, the drinks are absolutely lovely and good, and I've never been disappointed by their music. I also love that there's an extremely diverse crowd at Mixtape that adds to the atmosphere. I ordered the Looking Glass, which was a light, bubbly drink of Elderflower Liqueur, Brut, Orange Blossom, and mint, and it was refreshing and oh so light. They had pastries, so I ordered their cookie and a lovely and artistic cake that featured Absolem the hookah smoking caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland and prepared myself for a lovely evening.... this is easy to have at Mixtape....

Victoria G.

Yelp
Loved my 1st holiday popup at Tinseltown. We got tickets in advance. I had a great time with friends doing the trivia and getting hints from the elves. I enjoy the immersive experience and had many laughs from the pony to the naught and nice chair. It's a must see if you have not been.

Karla D.

Yelp
Woohoo!!! They're back and dare I say better than ever, even after a soft opening visit? I loved, loved, loved this neighborhood spot and was so sad to see them go. New owners are bringing life back to this amazing venue. For a soft opening, I'll say they're doing it right. Gonna be a few more ticketed dodge opening nights before they have a grand opening. I'm sure there are kinks to work out but as a customer I didn't experience any issues. Super cool, inclusive environment. I always gauge places with this phrase, "I'd totally come here if I were in NYC, London, or Chicago". It's got the big city club scene hype with the heart of a small city. It's really just wonderful. So lucky to have lots of great places in and around my neighborhood. The quintessential neighborhood establishment to be shared with out-of-town guests. Owners are so incredibly kind too. I give them 25,000 thumbs up!!

Ken L.

Yelp
We were here on a Thursday night and it was not crowded at all. We were able to just chill and talk here. There was ample seating and the bartenders were nice. The vibe is pretty fun and airy in here. There are so many disco balls! It definitely seems like it would be a fun time coming here for a theme night. They have some board games that you can go and play while having drinks too. They have a nice drink menu with fun names. The drinks are not bad! I had the Thin Red Duke and it was good. It was interesting though that they spray the rose water on top of the drink. I think I would've liked more rose flavor since I love rose flavored things. Nice place to go and grab a drink and chill on the weekdays. On weekends, we tried to go once but it was too crowded for us. Depends on the vibe you're going for! They do have a garage door at the front of the place and it was opened so people could smoke, so it was a little cold inside.

Ashlyn W.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go here for a while so I'm glad I finally got to. It was cool inside they had like an 80s night going on which was cool but because of it we had to pay a $10 cover charge which I didn't want to do but the drink I got, the woo woo was so good and the prices were cheap for that so that was good. The staff was really nice and the music was good, we really wanted food tho and they didn't have any but it was late so that's understandable they have a cool vibe with the pin ball machines right when you come in

Dani J.

Yelp
We like anywhere we can drink and play games. It was a cozy atmosphere that wasn't crazy crowded and good drinks.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Drove all the way into town for a nightmare before Christmas themed bar they had and got turned away at the door saying they were full and not taking walkins as we watched 10's or people just walk in with no problems

Maddie B.

Yelp
I had my wedding afterparty here and it was so much fun! I adore all of the disco balls and pinball machines -- the overall ambiance and music was incredible. If I lived in a Pittsburgh again I'd come here all the time: they even made me and my husband a custom drink to celebrate our marriage! Great service too--everyone I talked with had great energy. I want to thank everyone at Mixtape for making my wedding day one of the best days of my life--nothing like dancing under tons of disco balls surrounded by great people to make you feel happy.

Bill K.

Yelp
We went to Mixtape for the Tinsel Town pop up bar. They did a great job with this special ticketed event. It limited the people in the space so it wasn't too crowded. It was nicely decorated. The elves, Gay and Tiny, were great friendly, funny and festive.

Sabrina T.

Yelp
Such a cool little spot! We attended the Tim Burton pop-up last evening. We were blown away by the decor! The staff were amazing as well. It was very crowded. There was nowhere to sit and even the sparse high top tables were occupied. The line to the bar extended the entire length of the venue at one point. The drinks were ok but nothing too special- just gimmicky. Honestly, they were quite expensive, too. I paid $16 for a drink that was mostly seltzer water. We never even got our free drinks. We ordered off the drink menu thinking that our first drink would be covered. Nope. Surprise. Would have been nice to know that before we ordered. The bar line was so long that it was not worth the wait to go back for a second drink. Would I go back to Mixtape? Possibly, but not for another event like this one. I'm sure the vibe is much different on a regular night. Like I said, cool little place. I think the biggest issue was there were way too many people in such a small space.

George M.

Yelp
Cool place that just falls a bit short in all categories but still solid. Very excellent d j s for great music. Beer and cocktails a little pricey or at least they should have some less expensive options. Sound was great and bartenders making great cocktails but not always perfectly friendly. Turned off for $5 price of popcorn or at lease let customers know what the charge is before serving.

Adam A.

Yelp
I am not familiar with this place's prior incarnation but had heard good things. However, I had the distinct honor of being the very first paying customer for the 2023 re-master of this classic mix. Under new post-pandemic ownership, this place is solid, and it was a delight to be witness to the bottle-breaking ceremony (not literally, that would be messy) of its maiden voyage. The bartenders seemed overwhelmed by the crowd that almost immediately swarmed in, but managed a cheery demeanor and helpful suggestions and were more than eager to negotiate with customers if they weren't able to find or mix a specific drink. (My compliments in particular to the bartender with the butcher's-knife earrings, who seemed very much to be a take-charge personality and a more than competent server). The DJ setlist resembled a "Best of" album of the Retro nights at nearby local venues in the East End of Pittsburgh - think a bit of George Michael, Yazoo, Pet Shop Boys, et al. Despite the small space people were up and dancing which was a great sign. The lounge areas and the existing groups that showed up there had me slightly concerned that the format was best suited to people who already came there with a posse. However, having showed up solo I had no problem engaging in pleasant chats with strangers and with other people I had seen out and about elsewhere in Pittsburgh. As it is almost directly in my neighborhood, I am hoping to have more opportunities to go here when I want a night out but don't feel like using public transit or rideshare services, and would love to reach out to the owners about events in which I might have the opportunity to participate. Delightful space and highly recommended!

Fran G.

Yelp
Quirky place, but a lot of fun. We stopped by to check it out while waiting for a table at a local restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. The theme was Alice in Wonderland with decorations and people in costumes. The drinks may be a bit higher priced than I'd expect but the experience makes up for it. The best way I can describe the place is that it has a distinctive old school vibe. There's not rows of Internet-connected TVs and people sitting around on phones. Instead you see people talking to each other amidst the unusual surroundings while the Smiths play in the background. It's refreshing to leave all the modern nonsense behind for a few moments to live something real for a change, even as you're doing it with a 6 foot guy dressed as the Mad Hatter.

Matthew U.

Yelp
I'm in love with Mixtape. It is quite possibly the best bar in the Pittsburgh area. I know some people would disagree with me, but hear me out why this is the best bar in the Pittsburgh area. First and foremost, the simple menu and pricing. What you see on the menu is what you get. That goes for what you order and the price of that item. No figuring out what tax is going to be, how much to tip, all that stuff. The price you see is what you pay. Why, you may ask. Because this establishment pays their employees a wage that does not depend on tipping. This establishment cares about it's employees. This establishment should be your destination spot when you want to support local. Second, it is such a chill atmosphere, no need to be stressed when you can have a nice rest. It is a very laid back area to relax in. Seating of every variety in here (the only thing I could ding them on, not all seating is the most comfortable), some great music that you will catch yourself singing along to at some point, and the artwork is pretty killer. Third, play a board/card game to take your mind off of whatever is troubling you. Need to distract yourself, pull one of many games from their shelves and dive in. Pull your whole group into the game and forget about life outside for a little bit. Fourth, the employees. I loved the employees in here. They were so attentive. From the moment you walk in you are greeted at the door (they card everyone that walks in), placing your order at the bar or just sitting there you are constantly checked on. They are some of the best conversationalists in the city. Fifth, the drinks. No matter what you might be looking for, whether it be coffee or something harder, they got you covered. If you go with the Mojito, add the berries. I will say that again, ADD THE BERRIES! Those berries are fresh and amazing and give that drink a nice taste. I also like watching them make the drinks. It's like a mini show, so intricate. Sixty, the artwork. They really embraced the mixtape motif in here, and it is a bit like a time warp. All those cassettes on the wall reminds you of making a mixtape while hiding in your bedroom. Then the paintings on the wall transports you back to a time in pop culture where the songs were poppier and the music videos were actually played on MTV. If a painting on the wall catches your fancy, you may be able to purchase it. Come for a drink, leave with some artwork for your home. I really shouldn't have to list anymore, I think you get the point. Oh, yeah, one HUGE tip here. If you are sitting at one of the areas, use your menu effectively. If you come in off the street, pay attention to this. the one page on the menu is a seat saver. You read that right, it's like the Pittsburgh Chair for your table. If the table appears to be free, check the menu first. If this page is face up, don't steal somebody else's seat. That is Mixtape's PITTSBURGH CHAIR!

Francis G.

Yelp
Enjoyable place with good drinks and music. The atmosphere was unusual but cool, offering a fun time.

Anokhy D.

Yelp
We came during happy hour on a weekday and were pleased to have plenty of seating options and our pick of card games (there's a bookshelf of games). I appreciated that the happy hour options weren't just mixed well-drinks, but two pages of discounted creative craft cocktails, all music-themed. Drinks we got: -kiwi do you love me (subtle kiwi flavor but nice to see it in any drink since it's such a rare add in) -back to black (like another version of a blackberry bramble) -mocha chocalata (chocolate cold brew but drunk) -cantaloop (see note for kiwi) TLDR: place is funky, drinks are tasty, bartenders were friendly and approachable. Don't forget to grab a bowl of the movie theater style popcorn!

Catherine L.

Yelp
Great cocktails...very inventive and they change up the menu every so often to keep it fresh. Highly recommend a staple shot: lemon beat drop. This is a no tipping establishment which I think is fantastic. All of their employees are paid a living wage and thus they treat it like a real job and BUST their butts. Everyone from the owner down to the busers are all smiling, friendly, and care about what they so. Vibe is really comfortable and fun. They have a bunch of board games for you to play and have a big screen they show old movies, music videos, or ironic TV shows. No food (other than free popcorn and a few chips/snacks) but they do allow outside food. Overall...great place to hang out with friends and enjoy some wonderful cocktails!

Zaneta F.

Yelp
I've only been to mixtape once before but had such a great experience I look forward to going back many more times :) Where to start? First of all, the drinks are interesting, absolutely beautiful and delicious (and price includes tip which is convenient). Aside from the quality of the drinks and bonus free popcorn, what sets mixtape apart is the undeniably welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. From the fun background music to the comfy seating arrangements, mixtape has the perfect evening cafe vibe where you can come and do work, catch up with friends, or just relax with a book or board game :)

Adelina M.

Yelp
What a fun place to come to for a late night, ok it was 9:30, drink. Again making our way down Penn Ave because of First Fridays and Mixtape was a place we did not want to miss. The idea is cool. A bar that does coffee and board games. Sounds fun, right? They also do not allow tipping for their staff, but if you do tip it goes to a charity that they have listed on the bar. Pretty amazing right? When we were there it was packed, but by the time we ordered our drinks we were able to find a seat on the beanbags that faced the makeshift stage. It was a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and to listen to some music. I would like to come back to try their coffee! But the drink that I had was pretty delicious, so I was not disappointed. ALSO, if you download the SRVD app you get a free Dos Equis on a daily basis. You can also order you drink from the app so you do not have to wait in line. I downloaded the app, and if you use my code ADELM752 you will get a $5 credit!! I referred my friend to the app in the bar and we both got a $5 credit! I had never even hear about that. Super interesting and neat!! The art on the wall was also really beautiful. There were a few pieces that I would love to have hanging in my house. I was impressed by the art in the place because it was neat and unusual but also mixed so well with the decor. The staff was also super nice. We were asking questions and being indecisive and our bartender was so nice. I don't care if he was growling in his head, he was just a really nice guy to work with and answered everything we needed to know. He made our decision on drinks easier. Ok so then the drink. Blind Melon: Faber craft gin, lillet, soda water, and fresh basil over house made basil-melon ice cubes. Yum! I will say that this drink was a bit heavy. As in, the basil was powerful and heavy in the tummy. Very fresh, very good, but it left me full. Yes, I only had one. I mean it was 9:30! Yeah, I am a bit of a grandma, and not a cool one, a grumpy want to be in bed early one. But it was great. I was able to sit down, drink my well made cocktail and listen to some live music. It was a perfect end to my Friday and a great way to start my weekend. I urge everyone to try them out!

Cayla S.

Yelp
This is one of the coolest places I've discovered in Pittsburgh! I actually have to give credit to a friend who asked: is there any coffee cocktail bar or board game bar? Lo and behold, using the power of Google, we happened upon this place: the coffee cocktail board game bar does exist! The vibe is so cool with modern furniture and bean bags placed throughout. The menu features multiple cocktails including those that happily marry coffee and alcohol. Even better, this restaurant provides fair wages and paid sick days to their employees so it's proudly a no-tipping business; the drink prices are scaled effectively. I tried the Breakfast at Tiffany's which is a joyful blend of Irish cream, two types of liqueur, coffee, and whipped cream. My friend ordered the Mint Condition made of peppermint mocha syrup, Kahlua, coffee, whipped cream and dark chocolate espresso beans. There's a series of questions that your barista will ask you like: do you want it caffeinated or boozy? These questions help to personalize your drink, and it's all worth it. We both thought our drinks were delicious! The flavors in my drink just worked so well together; I'm pretty sure I saw fireworks with each sip. We sat down on a spacious sectional and played a game. It was such a fun, chill time I can't wait to return with more friends!

Yelp
We thought the concept of this place was cool and wanted to try it during our trip to Pittsburg. Not only are they open late, you can order or bring in outside food. The inside is dark, comfortable and causal. The decorum is eclectic and interesting. Upon walking in, we were told there would be a 10-15 minutes wait. It wasn't packed, but it seems they want to make sure all guest have a place to sit and relax, which I appreciate. Our wait ended up being about a minute! The cocktail list is great, with cool names like "the darker the berry." All music themed. The mixologist were friendly and the cocktails were yummy! This is a really cool place to play some awesome games, hang out with friends and eat whatever you want. Would def come back if in the area!

Jenny H.

Yelp
I've only been here twice but I have plans to go back after my experiences! This place is a great little location with a plethora of board games to choose from (with a great selection of your modern "adult" games), funky seating, and a unique bar for drinks. We arrived early evening and the place was pleasantly busy. There remained plenty of seating, which can be very hard to come by as it gets later into the evening, and Titanic was playing on the screen in front of us. Classic. We ordered beers from the bar, although their selection of mixed drinks is wide. Each is named after some kind of music icon/song, which adds to the already fun atmosphere. We ordered some food as well, however they bring around complimentary popcorn for you if you aren't prepared to try one of their small bites. We had the hummus and pretzel and both were delish. If you're into cool places with a relaxed vibe, definitely try it out. Just be aware that it fills up FAST and they stop letting people in at capacity.

Christopher B.

Yelp
The Mixtape is absolutely my favorite bar in the Pittsburgh area. The space is all about making the customer feel right at home, and building an intimate environment for interactions. The furniture, games, and projector really make the atmosphere comfortable. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Bartenders are skilled in mixology, and watching them create signature drinks is really a treat. Friendly, kind, and understanding of customers needs. (Free popcorn is also great.) The drinks themselves are spectacular. My go to is Nutty by Nature. A smoky, nutty, scotch/whiskey infused, flavorful drink. The same reason Mixtape is great is the same is the same I have one knock. With capacity control and home feel, sometimes the line can get a bit long. The one in one out model can cause long wait times to get in. During the summer that's not a problem, but in the winter people can be standing in the cold for a while. Investing in an outdoor heat lamp could help. PS: The bathrooms are gender neutral which adds to the inclusivity. Love it!

Anjalie F.

Yelp
Great spot for drinks! I love how they are a no-tips establishment. The menu prices include both tax and gratuity so you pay what you see. They have a nice happy hour from 5-7: $2 off signature cocktails, which leaves you with upscale drinks for a cool $7 (including tip!) On a Thursday evening we had no trouble finding seats and helping ourselves to the pleasant supply of board games. Our night included Exploding Kittens and several rounds of foosball - it's been a awhile since I've been somewhere with a table! They also had Bring It On playing on a projector, quite the throwback To drink I had the Thyme After Thyme, a gin based cocktail. It was good but not quite as refreshing as I expected and not particularly strong. Still a great deal for $7 but next time I would order something else The bartenders were are very friendly. I will definitely be back!

Ed L.

Yelp
Mixtape is one of the most unique bars in Pittsburgh. They have amazing, inventive cocktails and the friendliest staff around. With a chill environment and maybe the best selection of board and card games around, Mixtape has become one of my go-to places to relax and have fun. I highly recommend checking it out.

Nena U.

Yelp
Very unique.. My best friend and I checked it out on Saturday night (90s) night and we had a great time. The venue is small but don't let that fool you.. plenty of goodness in this place!! It was crowded but not at the point where you couldn't move.. plenty of areas to sit and it was so fun to break it down on the dance floor.. to Nelly and all the great tunes from the 90s. I love the specialty drink menu a lot of fun and different drinks to choose from. The basement - where the restrooms are located.. clean. The staff was friendly and it was a nice crowd late 30's and 40's .. .. I will definitely be back again .. thanks Mixtape.

Lucy C.

Yelp
I've only been here once and I can say it is already one of my favorite spots to hang out in Pittsburgh. Drinks and board games? Count me in. They have tables, couches and very comfortable bean bags for you and your friends to sit on. I went during their Happy Hour ($2 off cocktails) and their drinks were amazing. With their no-tip policy, the drinks were cheaper than other bars in Pittsburgh. I tried 4 different drinks (my friend and I got 2 drinks each) and I would say my favorite so far is the Walk On Watermelon. If you love anything watermelon flavored, I definitely suggest ordering this. It wasn't too sweet or too strong and it definitely had the right amount of alcohol in it! They had a variety of board games such as Monopoly, Connect 4, Cards Against Humanity, Scrabble and Jenga. It won't be hard to find something you enjoy playing. I will definitely be coming back to this place!

Stephen K.

Yelp
Great vibes with good drinks (tip your bartender). Crowd is always chill. Pinball, DJs and dancing.

Eva R.

Yelp
A really cool bar with tons of board games, a big screen, and bean bags. We came on a Tuesday night and there were a decent amount of people. We ordered at the bar and all cocktails were $2 off since it was their happy hour! I had the twist on them haters, which was delicious. It had rosemary, pink lemonade, and hits of pink peppercorn. Another nice feature is that they have free popcorn to munch on. The only thing that was pretty limiting was their food menu. We ordered some pretzels, hummus, and pepperoni rolls for the table. The hummus platter was a lot and great to share. Overall, this place has a really cool vibe and is definitely unique for Pittsburgh. A great place to come hang with friends and play some board games!

Yelp
Love it love it love it! Bartenders/servers here are super friendly Drinks are always awesome each one I try. Vegan options and its laid back low key chill spot to kill time and hang. Furniture is THE BEST The bean bags are recycled and soooooo cozy I love stopping here to get a quick bite or to get a drink.

Yelp
There are so many things to love about this place: -They allow outside food if you're a paying customer, so we brought our Spak Bros. meal in and they even offered to give us plates and silverware! -Their happy hour started at 7pm on Monday and the drinks were only $6.50 - $7. Given the quality of the drinks, that's a steal. -Once happy hour starts, they give you a tray of free popcorn! -This is a no-tip establishment, meaning that they actually pay their employees enough! -The interior is lovely, with ample seating, plenty of natural light at the front, with a softer light in the back. -The drinks are innovative (some with infused coffee) and delicious. One reviewer called their drinks watery, but I'd actually call them well-mixed, meaning that you're not getting punched in the face by the alcohol, but you can still taste it. -The bartenders were very friendly and inviting. -Coffee, booze, AND board games! If you haven't checked this place out yet, I highly recommend going on a random weeknight, when it's not packed.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful time when we came here on a double date. It almost feels like being in a friend's basement during college. It's a little dark. You're really not sure what you're getting yourself into when you walk in. You kind of look around for something to do, find a game on a random shelf, and turn it into a drinking game! Then it becomes a night with friends to remember. I look forward to getting back here soon.

Yelp
Yes! Mixtape was a great venue for a nonprofit fundraiser I attended. The space is cozy and fun at the same time and the staff was very friendly. Who could resist giant jenga, board games, and great music. They are a very inclusive and welcoming business and I very much appreciated the signage that stated that all were welcome! We arrived in time to put in a food order and had a surprisingly good panini and a soft pretzel. (I say surprisingly, solely based on the fact that their grill is behind the bar and that usually isn't a great sign... they did this right though!) Another plus - they pay a livable wage to employees so all tips are donated to nonprofit fundraisers... that's a straight shot to my "love it" list!! Responsible business practices, inclusive atmosphere, good drinks, and yummy food... yeah, I'll be back! The only downside is things take a bit longer than other places, given the craft cocktails. There ended up being a long line at the bar. When I go back, I'll certainly get the app for ordering and paying to make it easier on everyone!

Yelp
I cannot get enough of this place!!! If you love the 90s (who doesn't), bean bag chairs, board games, creative drinks, delicious beer, and awesome staff this is your place! GAH! It's so comfy and inviting. They often work with local non profits, too, which is amazing. The first time I went there I thought I died and went to heaven! 90s music and even 90s commercials being projected on the wall! Fantastic. It hasn't been overly crowded the two times I have been there. Which is good for me, I just don't think enough people have discovered this hidden gem yet. So I'm going to only share this with you guys for now! ;) The prices were great as well. The last trip I got a Weyerbacher IPA (they donate some of their proceeds to animal charities) and a vegan cookie (less than $10)! YUM. This place is tip free, they pay their staff wages, so that's pretty cool, too. They also serve Zeke's coffee, which I discovered through a Yelp event and promptly fell in love with. If you love the 90s you will love this place, no doubt in my mind! I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Love coming here for the laid-back vibe, quality mixed drinks, and awesome board game selection! Bonus: gratuities are built into the price of drinks!

Yelp
Pretty chill spot, great drinks and customer service. They played fun 90s-2000s music, offered free popcorn and had a very nice ambiance. Lots of board games for entertainment as well. They had a few peculiarities though... they took a photo of my ID - I did not like this at all, it felt like invasion of my privacy. They had a "no tipping" policy, which was cool. They also had no waitresses, you pick up from the bar, pretty cool. Over all, good time. Check them out

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe of this place. Several comfy seating options - table with chairs, sleek couches, oversized bean bags. There were all sorts of games available for play, including a jumbo Jenga! Operation is a little harder than I remember, but then again, I did have few cocktails! All of the staff that I encountered we very helpful and friendly. This is a no-tipping establishment, maybe that has something to do with it?! It was happy hour when I went, it is from 7-9 PM. My hubby got $2 off his beer. I tried the drink special of the day which was a Blueberry Daquri for $5. It was delicious! I didn't order any food, but the bartender brought popcorn around to all the patrons which hit the spot. I really enjoyed this place, I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Adore this place! Female owned and operated, always in demand, amazing ambiance, expertly mixed and poured drinks. They have games you can play, a projector to watch, the best music playing. Can't rave highly enough! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
-Great Drinks -Every board game/card game you could possibly want -Perhaps the friendliest staff I've encountered at a bar (My friend accidentally broke his glass because he sucks at Jenga - they could not have handled the situation any better). *One of my favorite parts, they have the SRVD app, so when the bar gets busy or you're in the middle of a game you can order your drinks from the table. *They also pay their employees a fair wage and donate tips to charity It's very hard not to like this place. A new favorite hangout.

Yelp
This is the only bar I have ever been to here in the US where I didn't have to tip, and am hoping that the employees get paid very well here. Everyone I interacted with was so pleasant and friendly. $7 minimum on card. Good selection of canned beer, and complimentary popcorn!

Yelp
Cool: - open wall to enjoy fresh air in warm months - cheaaap drinks :-) - staff gets paid enough so tips are unnecessary (so progressive!) - calm atmosphere, can have conversation without yelling if away from the speakers - very LGBT-friendly

Yelp
Their home page says don't bring groups of more than 6. I wouldn't bring more than 2. Lots of tables for 2 that you are not permitted to bring together for 4, or 6. Extremely unaccommodating, "The answer is no, what's the question" kind of attitude throughout. They make a big deal out of no tipping here and it clearly reflects in the attitude of the staff who are not interested in the grand experiment and have no motivation whatsoever to be friendly or helpful. I'm not exaggerating when I say at one point we were sneered at. They make some "classic" drinks but they don't make them well and their wine list would only do well in a high-schoolers basement when their parents were away. So, if you want to lounge in a bean bag and play Clue with you roommate while not having to tip (you know who you are) this is the place for you.

Yelp
What a fun place! This place took me way back, and in a good way. We stopped in early on a Friday night, just as they were changing over from an "all are welcome" sign to a "21+" sign. The place wasn't busy yet, but I can definitely see how it could get that way quick. For atmosphere, it's a nice little setup, with a few tables and several lounge/conversation areas decked out with sofas, love sacs, and tape deck coffee tables. Reminded me of those video game lounges that were popular for about a minute when I was a teenager. The music mix was awesome. There was no table service when we went, so we ordered at the bar. The staff were all super-friendly. They knew their cocktails and were able to make an adjustment around an ingredient I don't love. Oh...and this is a no tipping place, which is a concept that I love. They brought around a little boat of popcorn after a while, which was a nice touch. Loved it and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Came here for the first time on a Friday evening with some friends and stayed for several hours. I ordered their Ginger Spice mocktail. What's Hot - Menu variety. They have their own in-house created cocktails, traditional cocktails, beers, and mocktails (nonalcoholic drinks). There's a small food menu, popcorn, and a little water cooler. - Quality. Their ginger spice mocktail was delicious. There's even a splash of cinnamon on the top of my mocktail. Their drinks, including mocktails, are clever and well put together. - You can bring your own food! They have a policy that allows customers to bring their own food, which is really rare, but hella cool. For example, we started with a group of 5 and then became a group of 9. We ordered 2 rounds of pizza, which came out to 4 pizzas total. The staff were accommodating and gave us paper plates and napkins. When we finished our pizzas, they cleared away our trash, including the takeout boxes for the pizza. - Service. Their staff is excellent. Nice and helpful. They offer free popcorn and there's a small water cooler, by the bar, where you can get cups of water. I like being able to get my own water, rather than having to always get it from the staff. Additionally, the staff bring around and offer plates of free popcorn to their customers, which is awesome. - Price. I arrived at their happy hour time, which begins at 6pm. My mocktail's original price is $6, but I was charged $4 (and some change). - No tipping. It's rare to find a shop that has a no tipping policy. This place pays their staff a decent/living wage (I was told $15/hr), so they do not ask their customers to tip their staff. I'm impressed. Common sense and a good policy where the staff don't have to rely on tips. Observation - Space. It's not a bad layout and this is a decent space. However, be aware that this place can get busy fast, which means it can be easy to run out of room. Depends on when you come here. Final Answer Definitely recommend the place and would come again.
