"If you want to have a classy dinner around the lake and you didn’t just run in sweatpants among the parents pushing children or corgis in strollers, go to Mkt. It’s an Italian spot with great little plates like burrata with prosciutto and tuna crudo. Come here on a date, and if the weather’s warm, you can opt to sit outside at the front window facing inside the restaurant. You can make a lot of passersby jealous this way. " - aimee rizzo

"Winner of Eater’s So Hot Right Now award in 2013, this intimate Italian restaurant from Ethan Stowell Restaurants has just 18 seats inside. But when the weather is nice, the front window opens onto the sidewalk patio, which can host up to 24 more people (thankfully, reservations are available). mkt is in Tangletown, which is technically Wallingford but is Green Lake in spirit. The menu focuses on simple, ingredient-driven dishes — think green beans grilled over a wood fire or ravioli stuffed with porcini mushrooms and drizzled with olive oil. It’s everything you’d expect from an Ethan Stowell Restaurant: elevated, unpretentious, and delicious." - Sarah Engstrand

"Ethan Stowell’s intimate Wallingford restaurant serves well-crafted Italian dishes. Appetizers include yeasted polenta fritters served with honey and sage. Pasta dishes include pappardelle with beef cheek ragu and mint. And there are a few classic meat and fish entrees, like seared duck breast with blackberry, fennel, and hazelnut." - Matthew Lombardi, Jade Yamazaki Stewart

"Mkt is a Tangletown spot where you can eat an upscale Italian meal involving crudo, homemade pasta, and/or a steak. In the summer, the front window opens up revealing a two-sided counter, and you can sit on the street facing in - making everyone who walks by on the sidewalk extremely jealous of your charcuterie." - Aimee Rizzo

The beef papardelle was excellent! We tried the crispy ravioli appetizer - it was interesting but very salty. The cocktails are pretty good too, but they turned out to be $25 each. We didn’t see the price on the menu. When we asked about it during check out, the host offered to take a few bucks off the drinks. Appreciated that.

First time trying this place and hapilly surprised with the overall quality, drink was excellent (Bennett) food was delicious , fresh and not too heavy (one of the item was new on the menu and was overcooked but we did not had to Pay for it and got offered something else on the menu ) . Overall very satisfied with the experience and will most certainly come back .. ( this time without the kids )

Google
An amazing experience! I came from Brazil and this was the best restaurant I’ve been in the Pacific Northwest. The portions were very generous, the gnocchi and the sungold salad are a must. For desert, I had a homemade semifreddo, it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Loved it! 🫶🏻

Google
The two of us shared the steak dinner for two take out (July 10, 2021), and it was perfect. The beef tenderloin with maitake mushrooms was sublime! The beef was so tender and juicy (even after being heated in the microwave for 30 sec), the mushrooms had such a subtle smoked flavor, and the sauce enhanced everything. We were so glad to have gotten the set that included the burrata and the baby beet salad - both were so good and accompanied the steak well. The baguette was superb as well. Portion size was on point. Will definitely return to try other things! Pickup process was smooth, clear, and safe. Bravo bravo bravo!

Google
Good food let down by the rest of the restaurant. Bill was $350 for 3 people. (2 adults and 1 kid). Cons: - Skip the Shania Twain and Kylie minogue playlist? Music was awful all night and didn't match the surroundings or food. - Service wasn't welcoming. Asked the server how their night was going when we entered the restaurant and they said "Fine. *Pause* I'm here." Also they were dressed really sloppy in a slouchy hoody. Again... didn't really match the food or prices. - Scallops were great, but didn't enjoy the beet sauce. I get it - it looks striking, but didn't compliment the scallops at all and I actually like cooking/eating beet components for meals. Pros: Gnocchi alla Romana was fantastic. Overall there are way stronger Italian choices in Seattle at this price point so I don't think we'll be back.

Had a great time in our first time visiting mkt. Atmosphere was cozy and romantic, service was attentive and kind, and food was 10/10. We ordered the Mozzarella di Bufala, which brought such a creative flavorful twist to your classic mozzarella. We then had the Muscovy Duck Confit which was amazing (the cherries added so much flavor to the dish!) and the Campanelle was without a doubt the best pasta I’ve had in Seattle. Thank you so much for a great dinner. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Always a great meal here. The green beans are a perennial favorite. Had the duck which was new to the menu but absolutely outstanding. If you haven’t tried the teas, they blend their own. They are really good. Staff is kind and chef is awesome. Love mkt

Google
Really a lovely meal and great service in these weird times. The scallops were fantastic- negroni was perfectly balanced, and the fritters were the best I’ve had. Enjoyed chatting with the chefs briefly too- very considerate and friendly!

Yelp
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the host and servers have a good attitude. However, they seem to be shorthanded as the service was lackluster. Our empty appetizer plates lingered in the table for ages while we waited, for a very long time, for our entrees. When our entrees finally arrived, the tenderloin we ordered was cold and overcooked. My pasta was ok but heavily over peppered.

Yelp
One last hurrah before they close. Mkt has been a favorite of mine for years and years. They have delicious takes on Italian food in an intimate setting. The waitstaff are always incredibly warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. This has been a real gem! The duck confit is incredible and don't skip the pastas-- they're all delicious.

Lena A.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Service was amazing and friendly. Food was good. Sad to hear that they will be closing at the end of the month.

Tiffany Z.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a romantic date night! There's around 10 tables so it's quite a small restaurant with an open kitchen. I would recommend ordering the kale salad, polenta fritters, duck confit, seared scallops and tiramisu. Those dishes stood out to me the most, especially the polenta fritter and tiramisu! I've never had anything like it! Service was phenomenal, food was delicious, I couldn't ask for a better date night!

Brad O.

Yelp
The Duck Confit Rustico is the best duck dish I've ever had! Savory and substantive with a subtle sweetness. The duck is savory and tender. The beet tops add acid. And the cherry gastrique adds a subtle sweetness. I'm already hungry again describing it! Loved the hot toddy to drink on a cold and damp Seattle evening. The blueberry panna cotta was the perfect way to end too! Would recommend and return. Make reservations because the place is small. We sat at the counter and it was great!

Yelp
I finally grabbed the opportunity to try Mkt. during Seattle Restaurant Week as I probably won't pay full price for it. Overall I like the freshly baked focaccia and duck confit. Pappardelle was a bit too salty and the tiramisu was dry. It was nice to sit on the patio because the restaurant inside is very hot and stuffy. Staff can articulate well about the food and service was very attentive.

Yelp
Man, Mkt. has been on our bucketlist for quite some time now and looks like a pretty sweet place to grab a delicious meal. However, after checking out Mkt's for restaurant week, I left with a pretty sour taste in my mouth. We made reservations for restaurant week and my wife and I were both excited. Upon being seated, we were told that our meal, due to restaurant week and their capacity, had to be shrunken from 2 hours to 1.5 hours. No biggie at all. But after ordering our dishes, I'm not exaggerating, we waited 1 hour to get our first two appetizers. With two more appetizers, both of our entrees, and our dessert remaining. The appetizers were plated beautifully, but at the end of the day, they seemed very copy-paste. The bruschetta and one of the salads comprised of burrata, basil, tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar. The cod and fritter dish were basically fried balls that lacked flavor. So after waiting an additional 15 minutes, we were given our entrees: my wife got the seared scallops and I ordered lamb. So after watching a lot of Hell's Kitchen, I was always wondering why Gordon Ramsay got mad and yelled that a dish was dying at the window. I get it now. My lamb died at the window today. And I was so upset. It was so lukewarm and dry, and either 1. It was microwaved (which I kinda doubt), or 2. It sat on the counter for a long time. There wasn't any heat! There was barely any meat, and the lukewarm nature of the dish ruined my appetite to the point that I didn't want to eat it. The rice/risotto tasted weird and it was just an unpleasant dish that just made me mad. The seared scallops were good. The desserts were the best part! Tiramisu was great, and the panna cotta was delicious. But at this point, these desserts couldn't save this meal, and I was already upset and disappointed. Ok, sure, it's the beginning of restaurant week and mkt. may just need to adjust things a bit. And they NEED to adjust, because the entire time, we were just waiting for our food and becoming hangrier by the minute, only to be served lukewarm and lackluster food. All for $65 a person. Jus thinking about it, being served a bony, sad, meatless lamb shank, plates of tomatoes and fried appetizers, and a (pretty great) tiramisu doesn't equate nearly to $65. Sorry if this sounds mean, but I expected more. I'm still pretty disappointed with this experience, and I won't be coming back anytime soon or referring this place to our friends. 3 stars that's (barely) saved by great desserts.

Yelp
While visiting Seattle, I went for a walk looking for a late lunch. Stumbled upon Mkt and decided to try it out. Took a seat on the patio just as they opened. I was not disappointed!!! Ordered the papardelle with GF noodles & it was delicious!!! It's hard finding good GF noodles & these were fantastic!

Yelp
Took a brief detour after a personal photoshoot to try out the restaurant. I was eager to try this spot and already had plans to come even if I didn't go in today. Service was really good, the environment seemed to be very laxed but a bit dark lighting wise. Originally wanted to try the Gnundi but it was unfortunately not available so I decided on the Conchiglie which wasn't too bad but felt it was lacking more. Possibly a added protein that would pair well with the pasta. My drink was the Snappy Nectar Zero Proof which was very tasty and refreshing. I plan on coming back and trying more of the specialty dishes and the chef tasting menu. I give this place a 3.75/5 stars because again it was still good but I feel I need to come back and try something else to give it another shot.

Gabby S.

Yelp
Cute spot with a few nice outdoor tables. Inside has a good ambiance. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and didn't rush our experience. The food however is what gives Mkt a 2.. The Mozzarella di Bufala was lackluster and underseasoned. The Gnocchi was also a disappointment. The dish was dry and had too much grated cheese. The mozzarella within the gnocchi dish was chewy. The food was a complete miss. Portions were standard but the price did not match the quality of the food.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and want to love this place, but unfortunately, I will not be going back or recommending it to others. I should have known because how can a restaurant be around for 11 years and only have ~300 reviews? It's because it's not that good and no one wants to take the time to say it. Overall, I love what Ethan Stowell does, but it seems like he might have sold this place and it's not the quality of other restaurants in Seattle. Food: * Focaccia - Very dense and not light. If you want good focaccia, checkout Ben's Bread. The fennel + honey butter with sea salt was interesting but didn't quite go with the flavors focaccia. * Mozzarella di Bufala - Was dense, not oozy and delicious. It was topped with hibiscus poached apples and hazelnuts, that oddly added no flavor. Fresh mozzarella, herbs, salt and maybe more balsamic and olive oil would have helped. * Seared Scallops - These were meaty and cooked perfectly. Beet puree was a nice touch, but also did not add much flavor, but did look beautiful on the plate. The price was a little high for 4, but overall the best thing we had. * Campanelle - I love cacio e pepe. We added the soft egg, however we watched the dish sit on the counter for a least 5 minutes. When the dish arrived, it was almost hardboiled and the was no creaminess of the egg to blend into the dish. The sauce was also too sticky and creamy, like old mac and cheese, the pancetta was a bit overpowering, the dish seemed to also lack salt. Drinks: * Kiss in the Dark - It's hot so I went for this Spritz. The flavor was not bad, but it wasn't very spritzy and not served in traditional spritz large wine glass. * Wine - Selection ok and reasonably priced. Atmosphere: * Small an intimate. We sat at the bar, which was a little uncomfortable because the stools are too high for the counter, but overall, it was clean and well decorated. Service: * The host/waitress was pleasant in the beginning, however throughout the meal she became distracted and inattentive. When we arrived, there was one other couple in the restaurant. About an hour later there was another couple, so the place was not busy. The 3 staff members in the kitchen were mostly standing around, however the 4 items above took about 2 hours with odd long pauses in-between each service. We ordered a second round of drinks in-between the main course, and if we didn't remind the waitress, we would have received them after our main course or not at all. * We requested new share plates for our main course, but they never came so we just took ones from the seats next to us. * When we raised the concern of the experience regarding the service and food to the waitress, she simply said "ok" and gave no apology.

Karla B.

Yelp
Overall, enjoyed the experience. Highlights are definitely the flavors and thoughtful plating of the food. we got 1) cod arancini and burrata 2) Papardelle ragu 3) lamb osso bucco 4) Campanelle carbonara 5) duck confit and 6) tiramisu. Every dish was flavorful and worth it. It's rare to find a restaurant that has perfected every dish that comes out of the kitchen. This is one of them. However, the restaurant itself is extremely small, the tables are small, the walkways are small, we could hardly fit any food on the table without having to constantly move stuff around to make space. The kitchen was also an open kitchen, which is something I usually enjoy but this time, because the restaurant was so small, it was very LOUD, you have no personal space so the table next to you can hear your entire conversations and it just could be a bigger space.

Janessa R.

Yelp
Our favorites were the duck and both desserts (blueberry panna cotta and tiramisu). Such great quality! Service was fast. Will recommend to anyone

Maria G.

Yelp
Phenomenal food!! The kale salad, the burrata! My hubby had the lamb (the smells coming from that plate were out of this world) and I had the parpadelle. So many yums. And chef Dave was so sweet. Great experience! I'll be back!

Rona L.

Yelp
Honestly, this is still one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. The food is always delicious, the service is always great, and I love their new outdoor seating situation. Even before Covid, my husband and I would eat at mkt. for a night out, and when they would offer takeout for special occasions during the pandemic, he continued to order from them and bring it home as a surprise. Such a reliable place to eat. You can't go wrong with anything you order.

Mani Q.

Yelp
It's OK. Not getting the value of what you pay for. Pasta was lukewarm; taste good but not spectacular. Cozy environment.

Stacy S.

Yelp
I'm an ESR fan, so I fully recognize some bias. However, I'm a fan because the food and service is consistently great. Dinner at Mkt last night was delightful and delicious. The six of us shared the buratta, olives, polenta fritters and bread with our starter drinks. Loved both the fritters and the burrata!! While we ordered our own dishes for dinner, we were given plates so we could share, which was wonderful. We enjoyed the Frank the Tank wine with dinner... three bottles worth! This spot isn't as convenient for us to get to, so we may stick to the ESR moccasins which are close to home. But if we're in this neighborhood, we'll definitely pop in!

Tara S.

Yelp
Excellent food, great ambiance, good time. Overall highly recommend. I need to enter more characters so I will. This is them

Michael P.

Yelp
My friends and I had a very nice dinner dining experience at Mkt! While we dined outside (perhaps not the greatest move during the hotter summer days), Mkt's location offers easy parking, a quiet neighborhood, and is within walking distance to Greenlake. The staff was friendly and quick, food was served in a timely manner. In regards to food, I highly recommend the Polenta Fritters, which sticks out the most from our meal. The outside has an incredible fry, which combines well with the savory of the Polenta and sweet of the honey drizzle over the top. We ordered both the Pappardelle and Carbonara (w/o duck egg), which both come in large portions (which perhaps makes up for the relatively high price point). The Pappardelle was the favored of the two dishes, with the mild mint flavor making the dish unique. Carbonara was a denser version and comes with a heavy serving of cheese, which seemed to dominate the flavor compared to a more yolk based approach. Nice little gem in the Greenlake area, would recommend for either a special occasion or just dinner night out.

Ben S.

Yelp
Nothing but love for this place we are lucky to have in the 'hood. Cramped seating? Yep. Matches the cramped kitchen. It can be a little loud. But delicious bites the whole way. From grilled green beans to lovely homemade pasta with pesto. Friendly and helpful servers.

Paula L.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the server was charming. However, the restaurant did not have any heat so we ate with our jackets on and what was disconcerting they had blankets available? So go when the temperatures are not freezing level and be sure to try the polenta fritters!

Kyle W.

Yelp
This is a modern American, Italian inspired restaurant that features a rotating selection of dishes based on season. We made somewhat last minute reservations for Saturday 7pm, but don't get fooled by the large amount of available reservations as they're full house at least throughout the duration of our meal. We ordered 4 dishes to share: 1) Burrata: we love burrata and I do enjoy the fruit and honey they come alongside the dish, but they somewhat overpowered the light burrata taste. 2) Yeasted Polenta Fritters: an interesting take on polenta! It was rich, and the ricotta is quite creamy, much creamier than the burrata, and it made a relatively filling appetizer. 3) Camapelle: the pork cheeks are so tender and juicy, which worked really well with the pasta. This emphasizes that Italian food is not just pizza and spaghetti and meatballs, as the pasta is shaped uniquely to hold well any small amount of sauce and flavor inside. However, that made some pieces of the pasta overly salty as the salt did not mix adequately. The butternut squash was nice but gave a weird texture combo with the al dente pasta. 4) Parsnip Ricotta Ravioli: I really enjoyed this dish. 10 pieces of ravioli with a light amount of oil that fills you up. There's a nice balance of savory and sweet. The cheese inside is also very rich, which made this the perfect dish to finish the dinner. The ravioli is cooked al dente but there were a few small parts that are slightly undercooked, but it did not ruin the dish. I also got a cocktail, the Negroni, which is a great complement to the pasta dishes. Although it tastes a little watery due to the large ice block, it was strong and refreshing. Service was decent and as expected in such restaurants, and the timing of each dish was perfect. I really enjoyed the food here, though there were some minor misses.

Prashant K.

Yelp
We accidentally found this place as we waited for a table at at a sushi restaurant nearby. The folks were very welcoming and the place has a very limited menu, but a great choice on cocktails and wine. The waitress Catherine, was very hospitable and patient. We enjoyed a bottle of Nebbiolo and some appetizers. It was very nice. Coming here again to try out the dinner menu for sure.

Karen B.

Yelp
My husband and recently I dined at MKT for Seattle Restaurant Week and we had a fantastic meal! We had green beans, polenta fritters, burrata crostini, and cod arancini starters, seared scallops main, and panna cotta for dessert. Every dish was truly delicious - perfectly prepared and served very promptly. We booked an outside table and although it was a cold night, the provided blankets and under-table heater kept us very comfortable - along with our warm coats!

Ange N.

Yelp
Amazing dinner! Romantic vibes. Appetizers were sooooo delicious. The pasta is the best we have had in a while in Seattle. The pesto in particular was fresh, herby, and zesty. Highly recommend.

lily f.

Yelp
Yes it's been awhile since I've come in but I live in the neighborhood. The consistent businesses and full tables speak for themselves. Good local northwest fair! Great location.

Caitlin H.

Yelp
Had an amazing birthday dinner at Mkt last night. While the food was great (we ordered one of every entree) it was the wonderful service that really made the night. Andrew our server went above and beyond and provided five star service ensuring we all had a perfect night. The cocktails and spritz were all crowd favorites along with the scallops. Will definitely be returning!

Paul R.

Yelp
Mkt is such a jewel. There's not a bad Ethan Stowell restaurant, but if I could only keep one it would be mkt. Though tiny by any measure, it's not too difficult to get a reservation. The Covid changes have been positive and I feel good eating here, inside or out. The menu is small but always tasty and flexes to meet most dietary needs. Steak tartare here is wonderful so get it when it's on the menu. The green bean fries are a delight and a better way to share than typical potato fries. Pastas are always winners with just enough to share a bit with your date. I recently ordered takeout and the halibut was excellently packaged and delicious. The burrata was out of this world. Just wish they could staff up again and be once more open seven nights a week!

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Visiting Seattle and came across this gem, we had burrata to start, Pappardelle & gnocchi. Everything was amazing! It's a small place but they have some outside seating and the service was perfect. If I'm ever in town I will be dinning here again.

Wanda L.

Yelp
The service and ambiance were very nice. The restaurant serves typical Italian food but I didn't find it flavorful or unique. We ordered focaccia as an appetizer which ended up the best of what we ordered: it was fresh warm and soft. The entrees we had were the lamb osso buco, bucatini and pappardelle. The portion sizes were huge and definitely something you want to share family style rather than eat by yourself. The lamb was served over risotto that didn't have a creamy consistency and had a big pile of flat leaf parsley on top and lacked flavor. We all agreed the dishes weren't bad; they just were a bit bland and there are a lot of better Italian restaurants in Seattle for the same price range.

Rachel S.

Yelp
We were actually trying to go to the sushi place across the street but it had an hour wait (on a Sunday night?!?). So we were very grateful when mkt had room at an outdoor table. We didn't know anything about the place, which is funny because we like Staple and Fancy (another Ethan Stowell restaurant) a lot . Service was great. We got the beet salad, the gnocchi and some marinated olives. While I wouldn't say anything was spectacular, it was perfectly tasty, and a nice sized meal for the two of us. I like the neighborhood vibes that this place has, but whoa is it tiny. I basically had to climb over a dude to get to the bathroom (although that was party the fault of the diner--pull in your seat, guy!). So if you are a bigger person (like I am) or have mobility issues, this might not be the best fit for you. All in all, a nice surprise, and I would definitely come back.

Debbie R.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner at mkt for the first time. It was absolutely delicious! We had the baguette, confit eggplant, gnocchi, the bucatini and the polenta fritters and all were perfectly seasoned and cooked. But our absolute favorite was the green beans cooked over a wood fired grill and absolutely bursting with flavor from lemon and herbs. The service was exceptional. Great wine. We will be back.

Debbie D.

Yelp
Have been coming here since I moved to Seattle 7 years ago and continues to blow me away with great food, super friendly staff and excellent service. Although the space is extremely small, it is cozy and the staff create a super nice ambiance. We had the duck, polenta fritters, burratta salad, ricotta ravioli and pear tart and all were delicious. Definitely make reservations since it is such a small space. Will continue to come back to this little gem of a restaurant.

Yen D.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week. The outstanding dishes was the burrata with cured ham on bread as well as the chocolate panna Cotta and lemon tart. The texture of the panna Cotta was unique and the lemon tart wasn't too sweet. For the entree, we ordered the scallops and lasagna. Tbh the lasagna was definitely sitting around for a bit. Reminded me of grade school lasagna with a reheated cheese top. The scallops were executed well but the way it was seasoned wasn't outstanding, rather simple. The appetizers at the beginning were plentiful lots of greens. We had a salad, green beans in a cup as well as a cold pea soup and hamachi crudo. Definitely felt like we were getting a good amount for the $35 price per person.

Jayde M.

Yelp
Something to note about me is that I take Seattle Restaurant Week very very seriously.. This is probably my 3rd or 4th year partaking and after scouring menus and consulting yelp reviews and photos, my friend and I decided on mkt. for our first visit of this round. This was my first time at mkt., and I was happy upon arriving that parking was incredibly easy to find. mkt. is super cute inside, but pretty tiny! They fit a lot of tables in the space and you have to be super careful while getting in/out of your seat to not bump into the tables next to you. For SRW, mkt. does "for the table" appetizers, meaning everyone at your table gets a small individual portion of each option. I love this idea because there is no decision-making and no possibility of order regret (the worst). Each appetizer was tasty and was brought out at a nice pace. For the entree, I chose the steak which was cooked perfectly and the tempura-style fried mushrooms that came with were really yummy. I chose the chocolate panna cotta for dessert, which I liked despite not being a huge sweets person. I also have to commend the service. We overheard a table near us being really difficult with the servers, and I was impressed at how calmly and gracefully they reacted to the situation.

Helena H.

Yelp
Fresh food. Lovely ambiance. Delicious cocktails. Can get a bit warm on summer days. Tables are close together, which can be a bonus if you enjoy small talk with other table guests (or eavesdropping- lol!). It has a European vibe.

B M.

Yelp
Great for a dinner date or drinks/small plates after a long work week. Has a very relaxed ambiance and wonderful customer service! Been dreaming about the Bucatini Carbonara and Eye of Prim Rib ever since!

Marie B.

Yelp
It had been over four years since I last visited mkt. in Seattle's Tangletown neighborhood (4/5/18). Intrigued by the posted Seattle Restaurant Week (SRW) offerings, I called at 550pm for a solo reservation and got seated (=shoehorned in) at 620pm in between two couples at the front window counter. Three courses for $33, plus tax and automatic 20% gratuity added in, where there are 19 choices to select from for the starter and dinner entree. Great variety! I looked at their SRW menu online, so I was able to place my entire order pronto to the wait person. Unlike JuneBaby, where it is frequently condusive to strike up a conversation with total strangers. Definitely felt the notorious Seattle freeze here. Whatever, I'm anticipating the food, being warm (kept my coat on), and out of the squall I had just driven in. View, unfortunately, was of a telephone pole blocking Mr. Maximo's condo complex. No slouching here, as I kept being nudged or brushed upon with this teeny tiny space. Definitely not the place for sumo wrestlers to casually dine...besides that's better suited for Kisaku across the street, another Tangletown SRW favorite. No idle chit chat or lingering over a cocktail (stuck with water), I received my well paced courses in good time. First course was the fresh, creamy burrata with copious English peas and mint puree. Because of my recent dental mishap, I broke off pieces of crostini eating it very carefully. Definitely, the bright flavors epitomized spring on a plate. Seasonally sublime! Second course was totally spot on...ribbons of fresh al dente paparadelle with sliced asparagus, generous Dungeness crab, taken to the next level flavor wise with lemon and thyme. Made me think of my late dad, who prepared mass quantities of sweet, tender Dungeness crab when I was growing up. I liked checking the crab pots we'd hoist from the pier. My brother shared his Puget Sound catch a few years back...simply the best! We are blessed in the Pacific Northwest. Dessert had a simple presentation, but was packed full of flavor, the dense amaretto and ganache chocolate cake atop creme anglaise (or as the menu referred to as Madagascar vanilla bean custard). Excellent quality ingredients and preparation nailed the exclamation point to this evening's meal. Sure, I'd prefer dining with others for the company and conversation. But solo allows for absolute focus and unobtrusive service. Fantastic meal that uplifted my tired, borderline hangry demeanor. SRW at mkt. was outstanding and definitely highly recommended!

Yelp
Holy cow. This was 1000x better than I expected and I came in with high expectations. Came here during restaurant week on a double date. Made a reservation - definitely necessary because it's packed and a smaller interior. We got seats by the chef so we had a glimpse into the kitchen - front row seats to some yummy cooking! During restaurant week, we could choose two items each from the appetizer and main course section and a dessert. You're encouraged to dine family style and share. My partner and I decided to share one appetizer and three pastas. All of the options looked so good so it took us a while to make this decision. We ordered the English Pea and Mint Burrata - if you've been to one of Ethan Stowells restaurants you'll know the burrata is AMAZING. This was a seasonal combo- and delicious. I've never known English peas and mint to taste so good together. We ate every last bit up and even got extra crostini to finish it up. I would go back for this burrata. The first pasta we got was the Rigatoni w/ Pork Cheek and Snap Peas. Basically we saw pork cheek and knew we had to have it. This ended up being our favorite of the night. It's beautifully cooked, and snap peas are such a lovely addition. Per usual, the pork cheek was so soft and melts in your mouth. SO. GOOD. Would 100% come back for this, and I have a new found respect for snap peas in pasta. Next we got the Gnocchi with Pork Shoulder. I personally love all gnocchi's I've ever gotten at an Ethan Stowell so naturally I had to order this one. It didn't disappoint. Gnocchi were so light and pillowy. Our last pasta was the Paperdelle with Dungeness Crab. I didn't love this as much as I thought - maybe because it came out after the heavier dishes. It was a very light dish with a good serving of crab. I think next time I would definitely get the other pastas, and try something else instead of this (we were initially between this pasta and the truffle ravioli). We typically don't order dessert, but for restaurant week, it comes with your meal. We were pleasantly surprised and pleased with how thoughtful the desserts were here. We got the Seasonal Sorbet with Shortbread Cookie (Coconut and Lemon Sorbet) and the Chocolate Ganache Cake. The sorbet was delicious. Overall - awesome experience. I can't wait to come back and try more food here. This may be my new favorite of the ESRs, but I'll have to come back a few more times to really know ;-).

Yelp
Spaghetti Nero: dive into the dark depths of this squid ink pasta, taste the brine of clams, and surface for some juicy, burst tomatoes. Potato gnocchi: you fell asleep on a ricotta pillow and woke up to the crunch of the forest floor- chanterelles! Walnuts! Polenta Fritters: you get home after a long day, open the door, and get a whiff of fresh corn bread. Today our check was served by Wilbur.

Yelp
I was finally able to get a reservation here but didn't realize until it was too late that restaurant week doesn't apply to Friday and Saturday dinners! But the upside is that I was still able to order the one thing I was looking forward to most on the SRW menu - Dungeness crab pappardelle! I skipped the appetizer and was pleased with my good portion of pasta and dungeness crab for dinner. My friend and I shared the chocolate cake dessert (a must!) and were happy we finally made it in. That being said we were a foot away from the couple next to us and 2 feet from the table on the other side. There was barely room to get out at the end of the meal without my rear end being right up on someone else's dinner plate. They really need a new space that isn't quite so claustrophobic! My friend wanted some bread before the meal and was charged $4 for a hunk of bread from a bakery. I felt guilty leaving so much of it behind at the end of the meal but I didn't know they were going to charge for it until after! I love ES and his unique menus so I will likely be back here again soon - I'll just have to request a seat at the counter so I'm not up in someone else's personal space!

Yelp
Returned recently to try out their lovely patio seating. Food was excellent as always, specific highlights being the beets and the gnocchi.

Yelp
Wonderful and a must! I have been patiently waiting for Seattle to open back up so I could finally dine here and I was so happy when I secured my reservation. Although they do offer the option to dine outside, the weather can be so unpredictable so I booked inside and I am glad I did, because it rained (no surprise) and it was cold although it was June. The inside is not much to write home about but it is very small and because of that, I strongly suggest you make reservations. Upon being seated, I was promptly greeted by Sarah F. who was just lovely throughout my dining experience. I started with the cucumber margarita which is off the menu and it was refreshing and delicious. The baby beet salad was so pretty I almost did not want to eat it, but alas, I did and it was yummy! The seared duck breast and malted chocolate budino came next and they too were equally as delicious. I am definitely looking forward to trying more Ethan Stowell restaurants.

Yelp
We had not been back after covid, but went for our wedding anniversary dinner and we remembered why this place has always been a favorite. We love the atmosphere, the exquisite and delicious food, and the fun cocktails. Mkt REMAINS a hidden treasure in the Tangletown neighborhood and we will absolutely be returning more often now. The appetizers are new to the menu, seasonal tomatoes, melons, herbs, with unique combinations of flavors, cheeses and textures- and our main course pasta dishes were delicious. I loved the casual elegance, the attentiveness, getting to meet and watch the chef in action, and the prices are good value for the quantity and quality!! We will have our dinner tonight from the generous portion size. Because of the restaurant's small size, at times reservations can be important- but sometimes spontaneous works also. WE would HIGHLY recommend

Yelp
Happy hour made this place VERY affordable! We ordered 11 items and 3 alcoholic beverages (not all on the happy hour menu) for $266 which includes the 20% tip and 10% tax. We were looking for a nice seat down to celebrate a birthday with friends. All food is family style to be with people you don't mind sharing with. I really enjoyed the green beans, halibut, Wagyu beef, and beet salad the most. I felt the pasta was only "ok" but we had just visited a phenomenal pasta place the day before (we're doing a "food tour" through Seattle so we've been eating out a lot). For Ethan Stowell restaurants, I prefer Staple + Fancy.

Yelp
Just delicious. This and How to Cook a Wolf are my favorite Ethan Stowell restaurants. Went here on Weds for a birthday dinner... ordered the bread, green beans, beets, polenta fritters and olives to start. The beets and polenta fritters were out of this world!! Both were on top of what looked like a whipped feta/goat cheese. I still dream about those beets. For dinner, I had the ricotta ravioli. It had sage and brown butter, which gave it a nice herby and deep flavor. My husband got the papardelle - which was FANTASTIC. I kept stealing bites because the sauce was so flavorful! We had date cate and chocolate pot de creme for dessert. The date cake was spectacular - I don't bake and now I am looking for recipes to replicate it. I should probably just go back!!

Yelp
One of my new favorite Italian places in Seattle. Definitely a bit pricier, but certainly worth the bill. We were deeply appreciative of the staff and food quality as late-night walk-ins. Cannot wait to come again for their seasonal menu!

Yelp
A tiny gem with great service and very delicious food. It is not cheap but totally worth it. If you plan to dine inside, highly recommend to make reservations. Everything on their menu is to share, so order multiple plates to try a little bit of everything. That said, there was nothing I have tried that I didn't like.

Yelp
Honestly incredible. The chef gave us complementary blueberry agua fresca which was delicious. I particularly loved the clams with beer sauce and papardelle with squash, ricotta, and hazelnuts. The wagyu beef was good too, but not a standout for me, as well as the quail. The staff was so friendly, the granache wine was delicious, and I will certainly be going back as soon as my wallet can handle it. Addendum: Went to restaurant week in April 2018 and had a similarly lovely experience. Super friendly staff, warm cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. The golden beets, whole trout, chicken liver bruschetta, and coconut lemon sorbetto were highlights. Only the pasta was disappointing. The noodles themselves were great (pappardelle) but the crab-asparagus-thyme sauce was flavorless. Gotta up the game on that MKT - I was a bit disappointed that the pasta fell flat considering the last pasta I had at MKT blew my mind.
