"Minced Pork And Beef Hot Dog Jiangbing While we were in Chinatown, we decided to check out another new place we heard good things about. Monkey King is a carryout-only spot that specializes in jiangbing. We ordered the minced pork version, a thin pancake wrapped around pork, a hot dog, pork floss, pickles, and crunchy wonton strips. It was absolutely delicious, and filled a meaty crepe-sized hole in our heart that we didn’t know needed filling. Plus, it came with plastic gloves which came in handy for eating this wonderfully messy sandwich in the car." - adrian kane

"Jianbing, a Chinese cousin of the crepe and one of the country’s most popular street breakfast foods, has made its way to suburban Chicago. Previously located in Chinatown, Monkey King Jianbing recently moved to Skokie and brought with it a tight menu of crispy, savory pancakes that are grilled on a flat top, slathered in sauce, and filled with ingredients (think meat floss with beef hot dogs, fried shrimp, or crab stick with ham). The pancakes are then delicately rolled on the grill before chefs stab its center with a spatula and fold the whole thing in half." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam

"This carryout spot is hidden on the second floor of an office building in Chinatown, and specializes in jiangbing that they make in their windowless suite. Our go-to order is the minced pork version, a thin pancake wrapped around minced pork, a beef hot dog, pork floss, pickles, and crunchy wonton strips. It fills a meaty crepe-sized hole in our heart that we didn’t know needed filling. Plus, it comes with plastic gloves that are handy if you’re eating this messy masterpiece in your car." - Adrian Kane

Google
Amazing food we always get this carry out. My brother and I usually get the fried chicken option. We haven’t tried the waffle stuff but the main items, the jianbings are very good and the prices are good.

If you drive too fast, you could miss it! The location is not obvious, the sign is pretty small! We decided to come for some authentic jianbing! The Egg and Hot Dog pancake had more flavor than the Fried Shrimp Jianbing! The texture of the egg and hot dog pancake was a little thicker and very tasty! The fried shrimp jianbing had too much crunch and not enough sauce! The chocolate bubble was pretty good, filled with enough chocolate that you can taste it, it was chewy and soft! The staff was very friendly and when she brought out the food, we got napkins and a pair of plastic gloves so our hands would not be greasy when we eat our food! Very smart indeed!

Google
Great casual spot for authentic Chinese "burritos" (jian bing). I got the triple egg and shrimp with spice. It was very fresh and the burrito/jianbing was very large and filling. The shrimp were nicely fried and the spice wasn't too hot but had an awesome peppercorn flavor.

Google
Wow. Get the ham and crab jian bing. It is outstanding. All the textures in one bite. Tender, crunchy, chewy, warm. Total mouthful. The veg is fresh, not droopy. It's made to order and ready fast. If you have to eat and go, they even give you a disposable glove. Fantastic.

Google
The food here is always so delicious, my favorites are the fried chicken steak jian bing and the crab sticks and ham jian bing. The flavor is great and the owners are very friendly.

Google
sooo delicious! took the ~30 minute trip from the city and it was very much worth the drive. my partner ordered the triple egg and fried shrimp jianbing, I ordered the fried chicken jianbing, and we shared a lemonade and salted egg yolk waffle. everything came out hot and crispy, portions were huge, and we left full and satisfied - with leftovers! the provided gloves were appreciated since it didn’t look like they had a bathroom for public use to wash your hands afterwards. my only tip would be that the “little spicy” option tasted close to no spice, so it seems like more spicy would be a safe bet for anyone interested. we would make the trip again anytime!!

Google
I’ve been craving jianbing ever since I first tried it in China for the first time last year. I’m happy to say this place did not disappoint and satisfied my craving ☺️. I recommend the hotdog and meat floss.

Google
The food is delicious and the service is great too. My friend ordered the Fried Chicken Jianbing and I got the Fried Shrimp Jianbing, both were delicious. It was so good and filling we went back to get another one to share with a friend. I recommend this place if you want to try something new, this something new and delicious. They are located in the second floor, there is also lots of parking in the second floor. 😁 Enjoy!!

Yelp
Oh my! This place is soooo fantastic! It reminds me of some little places you find in Chinatown with limited staff and a kiosk to order, but INCREDIBLE food! I came for lunch on a Monday (yes, open Monday! I think closed Tuesday though). FYI there is NO PUBLIC RESTROOM, so my friend and I drove to another local place and returned to order. We ordered one bubble waffle because honestly, you smell that sweet aroma and immediately want it after you walk in. I ordered the shrimp jiangbing, and my friend ordered a chicken steak jiangbing, both mildly spicy (you can adjust the spicy levels at the kiosk). We waited about 15 minutes and the lady working there brought everything out to us and instructed us to eat the waffle first (probably so it doesn't get soggy sitting there in the paper bag). Everything was soooo delicious, and we unfortunately corkscrew eat the whole thing, but good thing it arrives in a takeout container, so we just closed it up and took the leftovers home! I shared the leftovers with my kids and one is a huge fan, so I'll definitely return!

Yelp
Stopped in Saturday at around 11:30 and there was no line. There is a very limited parking in front however a free public lot right next to the building. If you are unfamiliar with Jiangbing, it's essentially like a crepe but burrito sized here. The outer crepe is cooked with an egg so you get great egg flavor as well as thin soft texture. You can choose what fillings to add to the base of fried wonton chips and lettuce. I went with the fried chicken steak which I believe is similar to the Taiwanese fried chicken steak where the breading is tapioca flour. Overall the jiangbing was pretty tasty. The different textures played well together from the soft crepe and egg contrasted with the crispy/crunchy fried wonton chips in addition to the fried chicken steak. I do wish the fried chicken steak had more flavor. The jiangbing was quite large and very filling.

Yelp
Nice combination of chicken, vegetables and sauce with wonton pieces for crunch. It is good and kids liked them. We got the original (vegetables only), chicken - the best I think, and got shrimps too. Store is located on the corner of a plaza. You can access the parking space from Archer street.

Yelp
Saw this place on Instagram from an influence and decided to give it a try. I am really surprised they don't have any socials to promote their work because the food is delicious and of great quality with the ingredients. My best friend and I came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and we were starving. Immediate service through the door. The cashier, while spoke little English, did an exceptional job answering our questions and being patient with us. We ordered one fried shrimp and one friend chicken jianbing. Mind you, I've never had or heard of a jianbing before coming to this place. The place does a bit of cabbage with lettuce for crunch and texture. This was a place. The amount of chicken was not overpowering - it was perfect and juicy with a bit of crunch. My favorite added piece to the dish was the fried wonton/ egg roll wrapper! Oh em geeeee. You must try this place. Definitely creative and the food is served quick. The menu has limited options which is really good - in my humble opinion. Not to much to the customer. I will be returning and encourage others to try!

Yelp
I never heard of Jianbing, as the part of China I'm from, we don't eat this. Boy, was I missing out! For the uninitiated, including myself, Jianbing is a traditional Chinese street breakfast food that originated in the northern regions of China. It's made from a thin batter primarily composed of wheat flour and sometimes mung bean flour and the batter is spread thinly and evenly onto a hot circular griddle. As it cooks, various fillings and condiments are added to the top surface and folded over. I got the friend chicken jianbing and it was really good. The crunchiness of the fried chicken, mixed with the softness of that egg-centric crust, was great. The store itself is somewhat small; I assume most of their business is carry out, as there were a few tables along the parameter of the store, maybe seating around no more than 10 people. The parking lot too, is really compact. It allows only 4 cars. Luckily we were able to get a parking spot. Food came out relatively quick, and once they brought out our food, we were kinda left to our own; we wanted some water, but no one was to be found. I guess they all retreating into the kitchen and didn't come out at all, during the time we were dining in. Bummer... good thing I had a water bottle in the car. BATHROOM REVIEW: Unfortunately none. I hope/assume there is one in the kitchen though for the employees ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yelp
This goes to show the power of Yelp's recommendations and algorithms! I saw this restaurant as a recommendation for places to try so I bookmarked it. I was searching for a place to go to lunch and realized I was nearby. I'm hooked! I had never heard of Jianbing before but I'm always interested in trying out new things. I ordered the veggie jianbing. It was the perfect mixture of flavor and crunchiness. I'm looking forward to going back and trying out the shrimp version.

Yelp
I pass by this place all the time and I finally got the chance to try it. Because it's part of a small strip mall, there's plenty of free parking. There is a kiosk as you enter so you can easily place your order. I've had other jianbing before but I was intrigued by the fried chicken steak that this place had on the menu. At first glance, it doesn't look like much but the jianbing is quite the meal by itself. I am not a fan of burritos but a jianbing is kind of like that. I don't like burritos because I'm not a fan of flour tortilla. However the pancake wrap that jianbing uses is thin and the flavor isn't super strong. The combination of the fried chicken and the veggies make this a filling meal. I really enjoyed it and would like to stop by next time to try their other jianbing flavors and bubble waffle as well.

Jane M.

Yelp
We ordered 2 combo beef floss hot dog with Thai ice tea, tripe egg fried shrimp and ham, waffle fries, and chocolate bubble waffles. Beef floss hot dog: flavorful and crunchy Tripe egg fried shrimp and ham: flavorful, shrimp was crunchy and the ham was a nice combo. Yummy! Chocolate bubble waffles: very chocolaty, soft and delicious! Thai ice tea was not too sweet. They also provided disposable gloves which was a nice touch. I am definitely going back.

Ritti T.

Yelp
The space was small but their food was huge and filled me up! This small little restaurant makes some amazing Chinese street food which is kind of like a stuffed pancake but with egg and meat inside, that was super crunchy. We got the chicken steak jianbing spicy which was delicious. They have other meats like hotdog, bacon and whatever meat floss is. Not that much seating inside so we got it to go. Definitely need to come back to try the other options!

Yelp
Finally, something unique in the suburbs. First time trying Jianbing, and it is good. Had the fried chicken. I am surprise to find it really crunchy in texture even when I brought it home. Not from the fried chicken but maybe a fried wonton. It's definitely a surprise to eat something and to think that I don't know what to compare this to, but it is good and original in its own right. I will come here if you want to try something new. Especially since I don't know where else you can get Jianbing

Monty W.

Yelp
Absolutely love Monkey King Jianbing. Been on my list for quite some time. It's more a quick takeaway place with a couple of counter seats. The decor is super cute. The food does take time since they make to order. The Jianbing is wonderful, savory, crunchy texture, chewy. It's all that I love - classic street food - perfect for say a breakfast or even a hangover haha. Just a few parking spots in the tiny parking lot. It's kind of easy to miss. But I'll definitely be back again!

Vikki Y.

Yelp
Jianbing is a type of Chinese breakfast which is similar to pan-fried dough or pan-fried pancakes. It is often found as local street food meaning there are vendors who make this to serve to people on their way to work. I was delighted to find Monkey King Jianbing in Skokie (instead of having to travel to Chinatown) and sent my mom to pick up some food. The Jianbing was tasty and filling. I loved the packaging. I ordered the original flavor and also purchased an egg waffle. Both were good. I would come back and try their other options. There is plenty of parking and everything is made to order.

Hannah H.

Yelp
Monkey King Jianbing offers a Chinese-style crepe called a jianbing, a type of street food. Prepared with eggs, this is usually eaten for breakfast. Besides jianbings, their menu offers bubble waffles, pancakes, and milk tea/beverages. We tried: +Cream Cheese Rangoons - because, I can never pass up on rangoons! +an Original Veggie Jianbing +Fried Shrimp Jianbing +Fried Chicken Steak Jianbing For the jianbings, you can customize it by substituting or adding extra proteins/ingredients, as well as making it your level of spiciness. Honestly, I thought these were just okay; I recommend in ordering in person, as these would not taste good when you're having it delivered or as a pickup; no one wants to eat lukewarm eggs... Staff were kind, and there's parking available on the adjacent lot. +order in-person for jianbings +kind service +parking available in lot

Yelp
I was intrigued to try this as I've never had jianbing before. I ordered the Combo B - Double Egg Bacon Jianbing and Thai iced tea. Jianbing is a traditional Chinese street food similar to crêpes, generally eaten for breakfast. I placed my order online and was able to indicate level of spiciness (for me, no spicy), items to omit, I.e., sesame seeds, etc. Monkey King is located on Dempster, with parking in front and a large parking lot adjacent. It's adorable inside, with an order kiosk inside and limited seating. My order was ready when I showed up and the counter person let me know there was a set of disposable gloves inside. The portion was enormous. It was still warm and has a very satisfying crunch. I took the remaining portion to my office and it still retained the amazing crunch. I think the crunch was my favorite part (of course, it's fried wonton wrappers). The crepe was thin, light (mix of eggs, flour?), had generous portion of bacon ( would prefer it more browned), lettuce, a sweet sauce, wontons, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. It was warm, nicely prepared and tasty, though if I had to say, fun to try but not something I would get regularly. The Thai iced tea was good but sweet. It would be great if they could offer two or three flavors of bubble tea, to go along with their bubble waffles.

Ellen W.

Yelp
Attentive cashier / server. Parking lot nearby that tends to have spaces. Unique and tasty food perfectly portioned and served quickly and with gloves! Somewhat small space with lots of ceramic and no carpeting or sound absorption. Somehow I overlooked the sign by the register that said there's a 10% discount for paying cash, which is an unusually large difference between cash and credit prices.

Moua Y.

Yelp
My second stop of my mini food tour. We ordered the shrimp tempura Jianbing. Surprising how big it is, it can feed two people. Customer service was great and food arrived fast. The even included some disposable gloves which was very nice and help keep your hands clean. The jianbing was very flavorful and had all the elements of soft and crunchy. The shrimp was season perfectly. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
I discovered Monkey King Jianbing off of a newly followed yelpers page, Karyn M, a yelper out of Highland Park Illinois who I continue to discover mutually shared restaurant interests with. It became an instant bookmark for me after I took a liking to its unique items featured on its menu, specifically jianbing, a traditional Chinese street food similar to crêpes. Now the restaurant itself sits within a small strip of businesses along Dempster Street. Parking is free, shared, and there is plenty of it including a spot directly outside of the restaurant. After walking in and up to the register to look at the menu, I was acknowledged shortly after. For your information, there is also a kiosk machine that sits off to the side for ordering and paying as well. I ended up ordering the Original Veggie Jianbing because its appearance looked satisfying on the menu. Likely on a different date, I will have to try either the Egg & Cheese or Egg & Veggie Pan Cake which caught my eye before selecting the Original Veggie Jianbing. Service: 5 (Great) Due to the restaurant being empty inside, it put me in the mood to dine-in in order to make this experience worthwhile. There is limited seating available inside of the dining area, so I would refrain from bringing a large group of individuals. During this visit, the mood was set with music by Rihanna - What's My Name? ft. Drake. Other than that, the restaurant gave off a peaceful vibe inside. And the restaurant itself has the appeal of a fast casual dining style of an ambiance in my opinion. Atmosphere: 5 (Great) As the employee brought out the Original Veggie Jianbing, I said to her "Oh my God, that is big! Sheesh!". I was given a pair of disposable gloves to eat with which alleviated the use of a napkin to wipe my hands. And I kid you not, I had a smirk on my face as I took each bite of the Jianbing which is typical when I enjoy something eaten; the jianbing was crunchy with a slight sweet taste that I enjoyed. Food: 5 (Great) Being that I had a great experience, I would gladly order from Monkey King Jianbing again when in the area. I must say that I felt very valued as a customer from the time I sat down post ordering to the time I got up to leave the restaurant after finishing my meal. Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5 | Food: 5 Recommendations: Vegetarian Jianbing, Fried Shrimp Jianbing, Egg & Veggie Crisp Pan Cake, and Egg & Cheese Crisp Pan Cake. ~ Yabba dabba doo! ~ Thomas G

Yelp
Ordered carryout. Super quick pickup and order was totally accurate. We tried the veggie and the fried shrimp varieties, both were so tasty - the tofu chip adds great texture and the Chinese pickles are a nice touch of acidity. Appreciate that you can order without egg (though it's more beautiful with the egg and sesame seeds for sure). Cute little place with a few seats, and you can order via kiosk if you prefer. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I was in Chicago for a week and suddenly began craving for comfort food. Then I came across this Jianbing spot! Their Jianbing has an amazing CRUNCH, a little TOO much as half of the filling is the crunchy cracker. The flavor is a more AMERICAN twist to the traditional Jianbing that I normally have. Fried Chicken Jianbing - This was alright Salted Egg Yolk Waffles - I do not recommend this one Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop by and tryout their Jianbing and other snacks!

Brianna P.

Yelp
I loved trying the egg waffle and Jianbing here! It's a little strip mall place but the decor is super cheerful and cute and the egg wrap was delicious and crispy crunchy with wonton inside. Limited seating, more of a carry out place, but no worries! That wonton will still be crispy when you get home!

Stacey W.

Yelp
A small store front right on the main road of Dempster. The store was not busy when we came, based on the layout and size I think most do carry out here. We opted to eat in as there was enough seating for about 10 people on bar like tables. We ordered 3 different kinds of Jianbing. The original veggie, the fried chicken steak and fried shrimp. They cut them and served them to us in half which was perfect for our situation. They also provide plastic gloves to wear to pick up and eat the jianbing with. They were all so delicious, with a crispy crunch on the inside from the deep fried dough. And then also some iceberg lettuce. The shrimp jianbing, was my favorite of the three. Will have to go and try some of the other ones someday.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Great place! My friend and I went today - we've never had jianbing before and wanted to check it out. I wish I took pictures of the food but we were hungry. The portions are big and filling! We felt full afterwards. We ordered two - the pork floss and hot dog and then the fried chicken steak. Both were great but we liked the fried chicken a little more. I'm glad we could share and have half of each! It's a pretty small place with limited seating but they did have a couple of seats with back support that were really great! I don't think I'll be a regular but this place is definitely staying on my list of places to go back to. :)

Kenneth K.

Yelp
We saw this as we drove by and decided to give them a try because we are a big fan of the legend of the Monkey King. It is Chinese street food. It is like Chinese burritos. We order several options and they were good but the best one was the spicy fried shrimp. Since this is their second week in operation and still working out the kinks, hence our order took a little bit longer than we expected but the staff was nice. It is a small place and are designed for carry out with only seven seats inside the store. Their lemonade drink is good but the Thai ice tea is a bit water down for me but perfect for my wife.

Kent B.

Yelp
I doubt I would have ever tried this restaurant had it not been for my son. He had visited their previous location in Chicago and was excited to learn Monkey King moved to Skokie. My son discovered Jianbing while visiting China and ate them for breakfast on the street. Jianbing consists of a crepe containing various meats and vegetables. I ordered the Fried Chicken Steak jianbing. It's a substantial sandwich--if you can call it a sandwich. You're given plastic gloves to eat it as it can become a bit messy, but in a good way. It is a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. There's some type of a crunchy cracker inside as well. I would have loved to watch them make a jianbing as I suspect it requires considerable skill. It's hard to consider this as fast food when you look at the complexity of the dish. We spoke with the owner briefly and she was friendly and all smiles. I feel fortunate to have discovered Monkey King and their jianbing. I will be returning to try other items. You don't have to be adventurous to enjoy a jianbing you just have to give it a try.

Roscoe N.

Yelp
My favorite new restaurant of 2023 (well that and the excellent, fancy Khmai Cambodian spot). Being able to get Jianbing delivered is incredible. I love the shrimp with meat floss added, but it is that great mix of textures and crunch that really takes this over the top. Has now replaced a lot of my burrito purchases. Just incredible. Personally would like the spicy option to be even more spicy or for there to be an extra spicy option, but that's just my love of spiciness. Bummed that they are temporarily closed but imagine that might be for Chinese New Year. Can't wait for them to be back at it again. Stunning food.

Eric K.

Yelp
Monkey King Jianbing offers some seriously tasty jianbing! The portions are generous, with just the right amount of crunch. It's a small cafe, so I'd recommend grabbing your order to go. Perfect for a quick, flavorful bite if you're in the area.

Yvonne Y.

Yelp
excellent jianbing, loved the original veggie, fried chicken and the hot dog ones. fried chicken might have been the favorite for some. quick, easy ordering. we asked them to cut each jianbing into 4 pieces and that really helps us try different flavors easily. Egg puffs are good but the jianbing is definitely the star. The crunch comes from the fried wonton wrapper inside which really sets it apart. Not much indoor seating so may better to do carryout. it'll stay crunchy for hours. their boxes are compostable which is a huge win! we asked for no gloves and no utensils.

Hannah X.

Yelp
The food is amazing, portions are pretty large and they even give disposable gloves so it doesn't get messy! I love jianbing and I'm really happy there's a place I can get it nearby, since it can be hard to find. The lemonade and salted egg yolk bubble waffle are also delicious! I'm not sure what's in the lemonade, but it tastes different from normal American lemonade (and in my opinion, a lot better).

Vu N.

Yelp
Good breakfast food. I recommend their shrimp and chicken Jian bing. They're good portion, brought for 2 people.

Chloe C.

Yelp
I haven't found many jianbing places in Chicago so I was excited to find out about Monkey King. The location is a bit hard to find, it's on the second story of an underdeveloped (but new feeling) mall west of chinatown. I'd definitely say it's worth it though! I had the hot dog + pork floss jianbing and also tried the chicken fried jianbing. I felt the prices were a bit high for what I usually have paid, but because of the lack of options I was willing to pay. The taste was great with a lot of contrasting textures which are key for me! The chicken in the chicken jianbing was seasoned really well. The hot dog and pork floss is a great combo, and definitely satisfied my craving. They also give you gloves and napkins to eat cleanly. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place to try out. They seemed to be really popular on Doordash too if you don't want to go all the way there!

Jenny S.

Yelp
I am absolutely thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem! It was truly an unexpected delight to stumble upon such an incredible dining experience. Originally nestled in the heart of Chinatown, this restaurant has now found its way to the suburbs, conveniently located just down the street from us. We ordered: 1- Minced Beef & Hot Dogs (My favorite!!) 1- Shrimp 1- Chicken 4- Egg Waffles 1- Thai Tea The entire family couldn't help but rave about the exceptional flavors and impeccable quality of the food. It's not often that we come across an experience that leaves us so thoroughly satisfied and longing for more. A must try!!!!

Cynthia N.

Yelp
Very savory and delicious! Satisfying fast, casual breakfast/brunch. We shared the minced pork and beef hot dog jiangbing and an original egg waffle. I'm glad we shared, it really filled us up. I have never had a jiangbing and am not usually a huge fan of eggs, so was a little nervous, but it surpassed my expectations. We get season it so we'll, there's so much umami flavor and the cabbage and crispy cracker thing inside is really nice- adds a wonderful texture. The egg waffle was also really good, not too sweet, just right. Eat it while it's warm! I would definitely go back and want to try the chicken fried steak jiangbing next! Of note, we didn't have any trouble finding the place. It is on the top floor of the building. There's an entrance to the first floor and a separate entrance to the second floor parking areas off of Archer. We parked on the second floor and entered through the back. It's essentially carry out only.

Elle M.

Yelp
Reminiscent of Chinese street food and definitely worth trying! Monkey King is a tiny unit on the second story of its building, which makes it hard to find and even harder to eat at (it has, quite literally, one folding table in the back that will seat max three people), so your best bet is to plan on doing takeout. They provide disposable gloves with every jianbang order, which is the definition of innovation that excites if I've ever seen it. We got the original jianbang and the fried chicken and cheese shou zhua bing. Jianbing is a egg crepe that tends to be on the crunchy, savory, salty side, depending on what fillings you choose, while shou zhua bing is a thinner version of a scallion pancake. It tastes great on its own, but even better with crispy fried chicken and cheese, and the shou zhua bing itself had the perfect chew, thickness, and flavor to it. Both dishes (larger than a snack, smaller than dinner) for when you could use a little more joy in your life, which, if we're being honest, could be every day, so on out and get yourself to Monkey King

Phoebe L.

Yelp
It's a small shop hidden inside a little mall/office-like building on the outskirts, but it's been one of my favorites in Chinatown! It reminds me of the jianbing I had in China, and we loved every bite. We got the original taste jianbing and the fried chicken jianbing. The original taste was super crispy and delicious! I loved all the sauces that were put on it, and it was the perfect breakfast. It was satisfying without being too large, so it was a nice start to the day. The chicken jianbing was just the original with some fried chicken tenders, but it had such a unique flavor that was perfect with all the sauces. That one was our favorite of the two, but it may be too large to eat as a breakfast. This place is definitely worth the trek, and we'd love to go back to try more of the menu!

Melanie T.

Yelp
A hidden gem. I mean that literally because it is kind of challenging to find, but absolutely worth it!! PARKING: there is free parking on the ground floor parking garage. I believe there's upstairs parking too but idk how to get there. From the ground floor parking garage, there's a set of double doors with a sign that says "Lobby Entrance". Enter those doors and you will see a stairwell. Take that stairwell to the second floor and you'll be in a long hallway with glass doors. Walk almost all the way to the end and on the left you'll see the restaurant! It's small and isn't really a sit down place (there's maybe one tiny table). It's more of a takeout place. Very cozy with some fun monkey king art and pictures on the walls! FOOD: If you look at my attached photos, you will see the GLORIOUS cross section of my giant burrito-sized jianbing. I got the fried shrimp and wow I'm drooling just thinking about it. If you haven't had a jianbing before, it is a magical blend of taste and textures. The jianbing is wrapped in what looks like a crepe made of egg, and inside is juicy, crunchy, and soft. An explosion of sweet and savory goodness in every bite. Definitely a food to eat with your hands and can get messy. Which is why I appreciate that they give you plastic gloves to eat with! They're packed in a cute little square wrapper. Seriously so delicious. Highly recommend. I will be back soon!!

Yelp
I ordered them on Ubereats and I think I'll probably have to check out the rest of the menu. The crepe was a good size and the jianbing are so filling. The popcorn chicken comes with a honey mustard. It's good but not very crispy. However, the order comes with plastic gloves and skewers to stab your chicken so you don't have to get your hands dirty. Thai tea was a little diluted but could've been from delivery.

Yelp
This was a fun find for us. Saw some photos, decided to try it out, and it was a huge success for us. We'll be back sometime. I've never had a jianbing like this before, so it was new and exciting. We parked at the top of the parking structure. If you turn too early like us (or too late, depending on which direction you are coming from), the parking garage is only the bottom level. You'll have to exit the garage and keep driving down the road. Less that a block later is another entrance which leads you to the top of the garage. The building is set up with stores that look like office rooms. Theres a few places open here, but it's not a very busy area. Some rooms haven't been rented out yet. The store was tiny with no place to sit, so we ate in the car. We got a fried chicken jianbing. It was HUGE. You could probably share with someone else and be satisfied. We watched them make it in front of us. There were these huge strips of some kind of crunchy snack rolled up inside that made the jianbing. Loved the crisp. Kinda tasted like the wonton skin crackers they serve at some Chinese take out restaurants with the sweet sauce. The jian bing was delicious, a great texture, and had a lot of things sin it. They packed it for us in a to go bag with a little cute pack of gloves to go too. We also tried the Zhua Bing. They showed us that this used a different type of wrap. It was more like a smaller green onion pancake as a wrap. It was much smaller. My husband ordered this with a hot dog and pork floss. Let's just say he ate the whole thing after I took a bite. ha. He liked it, but I'm not a huge of fan of hot dogs in my chinese food. I'd stick to the Jian Bings here size-wise. The best bang for your buck. We'll be back. And plan to bring some friends back to visit on our next food crawl. Thank you Monkey King Jianbing!

Yelp
I'm rating and uploading as I'm munching on this awesomeness. This is more like a hole in the wall. you could easily missed it because it's inside of a what seemed to be "closed down" building. Once you enter that building, go upstairs and to your left at the end of the hallway is where you can find this delicious jiangbing. I went for the Beef Hotdog and wow the taste was perfect. Good for those are vegetarian since they have the Original-no meat jiangbian. The price is okay because you can easily split them with someone else since 1/2 is already so filling. Come have a try when you visit Chinatown, Chicago!

Yelp
Although the prices may seem a little bit high, the jianbings are huge and could easily feed 2 people in my opinion. The Jian bings are tasty with a unique combo of a crispy component, fresh crunch from the lettuce/cabbage, and the savory protein component chicken or whichever one you choose. I like this place because it offers a unique breakfast food item that previously was not widely available in Chicago. Overall my opinion is that the Jianbing here is good, and worth at least a shot if you are in the area!

Yelp
Smelly like a Chinatown shindig, but oh so good when you bite into their wraps! Really unique stuff here. I had the vegan wrap

Yelp
We got the vegetarian/original jianbing and the triple egg meat jianbing along with wonton soup. First off I'm not a HUGE fan of jianbing but this really blew me away. The vegetarian one was surprisingly better than the meat heavy (sausage and chicken) one. The crunch factor of the jianbing!!! The crunch was delicious and whatever sauce they have I'll definitely be asking more to be put in! Sadly the sauce was not evenly applied to the jianbing making certain bites worse than others. I wish there was also more sauce in general as well. Overall must try! Would be delicious savory breakfast/lunch. The wonton soup was more... interesting. The wontons themselves were solid but the broth was surprisingly overwhelmingly smelled of peppercorn? The taste of it was more subtle but definitely present in the broth. The peppercorn just really threw me off resulting in me not liking this dish as much.

Yelp
we split a fried shrimp and a fried chicken jianbing, both items a journey in texture and each uniquely flavorful. chinese pickle was a tasty addition. can't wait to go back and try other flavors in different combinations!

Yelp
My partner and I got the friend shrimp jianbing which was delicious! It was so crispy on the inside! And they also gave us two pairs of plastic gloves with our takeout which was adorable. The Thai teas we got were also great. I was also curious about the traditional egg waffle, which was very light and fluffy! Overall highly recommend and can't wait to try more items off the menu in the future !

Yelp
Food was very tasty, a bit messy, but they give you gloves to eat with for dine in. No frills experience, but nice people, and yummy and unique food.

Yelp
This place was a pretty awesome find. Not the easiest to spot, but it sits on the 2nd floor of a fairly new plaza. This place reminds me of the good ole night markets in Taiwan, as they make the crispy, flaky Jianbing (kinda like a crispy scallion pancake for those unfamiliar) right in front of you and customized with things like meat floss/pork sung, sausage, shrimp, egg. These things are HUGE btw and can be split with another friend if you just want to try it. Although it's a bit further out from Chinatown and would require a dedicated drive to get it, I would definitely go again.

Yelp
Quaint place in the new Chinatown plaza building. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 9/10 Full of cutesy Monkey King themed, decor, this makes a nice little takeout spot. Too bad the rest of this building is still rather empty likely because of the pandemic halting business. Otherwise, this place is a ray of sunshine within the building. SERVICE: 10/10 Excellent, expeditious and courteous service. No issues at all! FOOD: 9/10 For takeout, the food was really cutely package! Pics included. Egg Waffle - 9/10 - Really good and fluffy with rich flavor and a light texture. It essentially is a lighter and fluffier version of a Belgian waffle with more 'egginess' to it. Hot Dog and "Rou Song" Pork Jian Bing - 8/10 - Essentially a 'jian bing' is a Chinese crepe, wrapped up and filled with a variety of fillings. Here, there is a mix of veggies and beef hot dog and 'rou song' a kind of tossed and spun pork so that it has a string texture. This was good and the flavor melded well together but was missing something in the way of a sauce to really bring everything together. The hot dog and 'rou song' is kind of a strange combination. Chicken Jian Bing - 9/10 - This 'jian bing' was fantastic, as was the accompanying sauce. This whole dish came together perfectly, and I feel this is more representative of the traditional experience. VALUE: 7/10 Prices are fair. Not absurdly cheap or overpriced. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 10/10 I definitely plan to com back here. TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Eat!!! OVERALL: 9/10

Yelp
TAKE MY MONEY! Never had anything like this, so delicious, would recommend 10/10. Nice little cozy spot, very good, very clean and super nice people. Had the shrimp and ham jianbing
