Monsieur Bistro Restaurant

Spotted the XL Cookie on a reel and had to check it out! The cookie is huge, warm (baked fresh) and absolutely delicious. Also tried the profiteroles — flaky, creamy, and a total win. The staff were super warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even sweeter. The service is very European-style i.e no one’s rushing you out the door, which made the whole experience feel extra cozy.

Made our way up here after a Broadway show and it was the best decision - away from the Times Square madness we found this hidden gem that comes with top notch hospitality brought by the general manager Jacqueline. She made the best recommendations, including the Steak au Poivre and the delicious baked brie which was our favorite. We had martinis, carajillos, espresso martinis, and after a few drinks we knew we would always be back to this spot. The show we watched was called Maybe Happy Ending, it might not always be a happy ending in life, but here, in Monsieur Bistro is most certainly always is a happy ending. First the service. Wow how nice and welcoming can they be?? I felt at home and taken care of. Second the food. Everything was amazing. Specially the cookie for dessert. Is not all hype, it’s the real deal. At the end of our meal we met the chef and was very humble and sweet. Definitely going back to this one.

This is a beautiful space with a perfect ambience - the decor and lighting are lovely, the noise is very low, and the service the day I went was fantastic. There was only one waiter and he was seemingly everywhere but was not hurried. His attentiveness was pitch perfect. So, why only 3 Stars? Well, frankly, the food was the discordant note. My friend and I each ordered a chicken club sandwich on toast. Two halves of a sandwich on a barren plate. Surely the chef should know that guests “eat first with their eyes”. And, not only was the toast both cold and hard, it was the nastiest quality of cheap bread. I mean, this is a French restaurant - at the very least, one would expect great bread. In addition, there was only about 3 oz of chicken on the sandwich…. All this for $20. My friend had thought about the omelette for $15 but then learned that the price was just for the eggs. Every other filling was $1.50 each, except for cheese, which was $3. I have never been to a restaurant at which an omelette included no one filling. I felt such regret that such a beautiful restaurant was such a disappointment because of the quality (or lack thereof) of the food. Finally, I am temporarily disabled due to hip surgery, so noted upon entrance that the restrooms are down a long flight of stairs.

The food was delicious and the staff was knowledgeable and very attentive. My favorite dishes were the burger, Brussels sprouts salad, lentil salad, beef tartare, the cookie, and the French toast for brunch. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.

Monsieur Bistro is a cozy little French spot in NYC that totally hits the mark. The food is classic and delicious – think rich escargots, crispy duck confit, and a bouillabaisse that’s packed with flavor. The vibe is warm and intimate, perfect for a date or a chill night out. Great wine, amazing crème brûlée, and genuinely friendly service. Definitely one of those hidden gems you’re glad you found. Chole was the best!!!

I’ve tried almost every dish and loved it. The lamb Parmentier is perfect in this weather, the steak is great loved the sauces, the carpaccio was delicious. The club sandwiches are good quick and yummy choices for lunch. For dessert I’ve had the chocolate mousse which was to die for and I’m not the biggest dessert person. Such a great addition to the neighborhood, ive been coming with all of my friends all the way from downtown!

Monsieur Bistro brings the timeless charm of a Parisian bistro to the Upper East Side. It exudes a cozy yet refined ambiance, perfect for intimate dinners, catching up over classic French fare, or enjoying a drink at the bar. The space also features a small terrace, making it an inviting spot for any occasion. With French management and incredibly kind staff, the hospitality is as exceptional as the food. It also looks like a great spot for brunch, offering many delicious egg dishes! Must-try: the velvety soupe à l’oignon, indulgent lamb parmentier, and the XL chocolate hazelnut cookie, a dessert so decadent it’s worth every bite.

I cannot tell you how pleased o was to park my car right in front of monsieur bistro. My brother just drove my husband and I from Brooklyn to Manhattan so I told him his reward would be a cocktail. I've never been to Monsieur Bistro but saw the bar was cute- I then said, "let's go here." I walked in and everyone complimented my new jacket from Italy. I loved showing it off and shared it was my 33rd wedding anniversary. As I sat down the waitress and bar tender could not have been nicer. The bar tender made the best Bloody Mary and even gave us his secret. After finishing our drinks the two clients who complimented my jacket treated all three of us to champagne to celebrate our anniversary. This is such an adorable place, I can't wait to go back again. Might be awhile since I live in California. But next time I'll definitely go back to try their food.

Good food slow service... staff is overwhelmed! Worth the wait if not in a rush. Authentic french with a bistro feel.

Food was delicious. We sat in the front and watched the rain. Felt like we were sitting at a bistro in Paris..We left with full happy stomachs. The waiter was fantastic as well, wish I remembered his name...thank you!

My first time here, and we thought every aspect was spectacular. The hostess/server was great...the food was sublime (French onion soup, boeuf bourguignon, chocolate mousse)....the decor/ambiance/lighting was perfection. (Another reviewer here mentioned bright, fluorescent light? I've no idea what they may be referring to...at least, we saw nothing of the kind where we were seated...and, I'm normally very sensitive to fluorescent or bright lights...) I would definitely return!

The food is great, the ambience is fine.......except for the kitchen door which opens approximately every 3.5 seconds. BRIGHT fluorescent light is cast onto a third of the tables every few seconds. A creative fix is needed.

Went back a second time. The experience was terrific. The food as before, delicious, the atmosphere wonderful and the service outstanding. It's everything fantastic about a French bistro. Highly recommend.

Newly opened Monsieur Bistro is a 10/10 from food to service to ambiance. A welcome addition to e 65th, this restaurant will be hard to get a res but at least they have a sexy bar!

excellent food and service... atmosphere...as if you're on the banks of the Siene. The Brussels sprout salad and vegetable soup were good starters. The grilled salmon was perfectly done and nicely seasoned. For dessert the crème brûlée was perfection. Good wine list and cocktails. Extra bonus...the staff is French!!!

Monsieur Bistro is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The restaurant feels quintessentially French, with a younger crowd than many nearby spots, stunning decor, and excellent food - especially the Brussels sprout salad, avocado toast, and branzino. Like all great neighborhood places that keep you coming back, the staff makes you feel like family - and for us, that's all thanks to Chloe. See you soon!

Good food, but terrible, terrible service. Nobody to greet customers at the door, long wait between courses, bad attitude.

It was OK. I understand that it is new. It was very expensive for what it was. The menu was extremely boring, and there were no specials. The tables are very close together. I ordered the chicken paillard. There was not nearly enough mushroom sauce, and when I asked for more, got just a very little bit more. I left half the chicken because there was so much. It came with some roasted potatoes. And here is my problem: it was a beige brown dinner With no color. And that chicken was $38. I will not go back as there are too many tried and true restaurants. The service was very good. I also would've preferred a good French bread and good butter rather than the tiny oven dried baguette pieces with a bit of tapenade. There are only four seats at the tiny bar at the entrance.

The space is lovely; beautifully redone from what used to be there, with flattering lighting and an up-to-date appeal. But, the food is a bit bland and really not so great. My chicken was dry and required all the sauce they brought with it to make it edible - I still only ate half. My dinner companions said their entrees were also pretty mediocre. And while our waitress was attentive and friendly, the manager/hostess walked was less than charming and bumped into me several times while she rushed about and not once acknowledged it. At this price point there are way better options nearby.

there was nothing on the menu we wanted to order so ended up having the appetizer vitello tonato as a main course. It was good but the presentation made it look like balled up scraps of paper. The vegetable fritters are chips battered and deep fried. Tasteless. Some tables got bread But not us. Service was non-existent and it was soooooo noisy.
