Tucked away in the bustling Original Farmers Market, Monsieur Marcel is a charming French bistro and gourmet market offering delectable dishes and a cozy ambiance perfect for a casual stop or a lingering meal.
"Part gourmet grocery, part French restaurant, Monsieur Marcel’s is the most pleasant corner of the Original Farmers Market. The tourist crowds might put a damper on whatever Euro-fantasy you’re stepping into, but Marcel’s is still a nice place to let a weekday afternoon drift by. You can shop for funky cheeses and apricot preserves, or meet up with a friend for midday oysters, steak frites, and a gooey quiche lorraine. And if you really want to make a statement, order the $44 cheese fondue service. " - brant cox, sylvio martins
"Monsieur Marcel has been open for over 25 years and is one of the largest and most well-known tenants at the Original Farmers Market at The Grove. The space contains several different concepts including a grocery store with its own cheese shop, a seafood market perfect for picking up fish to cook at home, and a sit-down bistro. It’s certainly a useful spot to hang out with a wine and cheese flight and dodge the manic afternoon crowds, but try and come to Monsieur Marcel for breakfast. Enjoying a cappuccino and a perfectly gooey quiche lorraine while watching the market come alive at 9am is something we never get tired of." - brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore
"Monsieur Marcel has been open for over 25 years and is one of the largest and most well-known tenants at the market. The space contains several different concepts, including a full gourmet grocery with its own cheese shop and patisserie, a seafood market perfect for picking up fresh fish to cook later at home, and a sit-down bistro. It’s certainly a great spot to hang out with a wine and cheese flight and dodge the manic weekend crowds, but we like Monsieur Marcel best for weekday lunch. It’s still lively (with particularly good people-watching), but calm enough that the friend or client you invited will feel immediately comfortable. We’re big fans of the perfectly gooey quiche lorraine or steak-frites, but if you really want to make a statement, do the $39 fondue service." - brant cox
"Far more than just a specialty grocery store in the Original Farmer’s Market, Monsieur Marcel is also a full-service restaurant. With a plentiful wine list, oysters, cheeses, and all the classics, there may be no better way to refuel from an arduous day shopping at the Grove than at this friendly spot." - Rebecca Roland, Eater Staff
"Located in The Original Farmer’s Market attached to The Grove, Monsieur Marcel is an upscale French restaurant that’s been serving excellent bistro-style food for over 25 years. When it comes to building a great picnic basket though, head to their marketplace next door. Filled with thousands of imported goods, you’ll find every kind of cheese board, charcuterie, cracker, sauce, and spread to complete your picnic masterpiece. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation
