Best Brunch Restaurants in Durham, North Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"The donuts aren’t the only draw at family-friendly Monuts, although they are raison d’être for the whole establishment. There’s also a bagel bahn mi, a chicken and pickle biscuit, and a rotating selection of one of the best quiches in town. Though no meal at Monuts would be complete without one (or more) of the donuts that got it started, and the rotating selections of both yeasted and cake donuts often include flavors like apple cider, red velvet, toasted amaretto, and vanilla bean." - Matt Lardie

Monuts - Review - Old West Durham - Durham - The Infatuation

"If you have one breakfast in Durham, or you land at RDU any time before 2pm, the first place you should go to is Monuts. What started as a donut cart at the farmers market is now a bright, large space with tables and a wraparound coffee bar - and one of the best and most popular breakfast/lunch spots in the area. This means on weekends, there’s a line from morning until close (4pm), but it moves quickly and gives you more time to choose between the eight or so donut options. Get a few to share along with a BEC with maple sriracha or fried chicken biscuits with pickles and hot honey." - Christine Byrne

Not pictured the amazing Apple cider donut I inhaled. It was warm and the cinnamon flavor was out of this world. Small parking lot but easily accessible free street parking in adjacent neighborhoods. Went on a Friday morning and it was busy but the lines moved fast.

Monuts is an absolute gem in Old West Durham! The cafe is a perfect destination for breakfast, brunch, and lunch; and you can feel good supporting a local business that pays their employees a living wage! The food at Monuts is incredible with a focus on delicious baked goods, inventive sandwiches, and fantastic coffee drinks. Their menu changes on a seasonal and sometimes weekly basis, so it's easy to keep coming back to see what their current offerings are. In addition to sandwiches, you can also enjoy lunch items such as soup, salads, and quiche! Everything is made from scratch, in-house, no pre-made mixes here. if you're visiting on the weekend, come early and be prepared for the crowd, this place gets packed!

The pastries were moist and the fruit in them flavorful and fresh. Chicken was well seasoned. Overall a wonderful brunch

Google
Monuts is a Durham staple with delicious donuts and pastries, well made coffees, and teas, and a savory spread to meet any craving! We got a variety of donuts, two bagel, breakfast sandwiches, and some lattes. Everything was delicious. Sometimes the parking can be challenging, and the biggest downside would be that it’s very challenging to get a hot donut! But if you can… Yum!

Google
What a gem of a place! The food and coffee were absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. This was our first time dining in after always ordering takeout, and we realized just how much we’d been missing! The little touches, especially the sweets and extras, truly make the experience special. This spot has officially earned a place on our go-to breakfast list. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
This place might be my new favorite breakfast spot! My husband and I decided to try this place and loved everything about it! Everything is made fresh and the taste proves it! We loved their story about paying their employees a living wage. We tried a variety of things today and can’t wait to go back! The quiche was so delicious, definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. We tried many different pastries and enjoyed all of the flavors! My mocha topped it all off. The atmosphere is great and the customer service is too! We can’t wait to come back and bring friends.

Google
Duke students and Durham residents alike hype up Monuts, and it always lives up. Monuts is the place to go for unique and delicious sandwiches on amazing bread, gourmet pastries and donuts, and even great seasonal coffees. I’ve been here countless times and have never had anything I didn’t love! I will say it unfortunately doesn’t have quite as many vegan options as I would hope, so I found myself going much less often when I became vegan. However, the avocado toast & maple sriracha potatoes with an oat milk latte are go-tos for a breakfast or brunch with my non-vegan friends. Their vegan cookie is yummy as well and their rotating soups are occasionally vegan. If they added 1-2 more vegan menu items, like a seasonal sandwich offering, it would be an easy 5 stars from me! ⭐️

Google
We got a macchiato and a mocha latte. Both for ~$10. The taste is on the more sour side. I personally prefer a more mild taste. Overall still pretty good. The other breakfast items look very enticing. We went on a Saturday morning and definitely already had a full house. Vibe is chill. Nice place to spend a morning!

Yelp
The line was out the door on a Saturday morning, but for good reason. There is an extensive menu with lots of delicious sounding items. Also a really nice venue for sitting inside or outside. We got the apple of my eye sandwich with avocado as well as the avocado toast. Both were delicious. We also really loved the lattes. We tried the maple latte and the apple chaider. There is an option of ordering ahead if you want the food to go without the lines.

Yelp
Cool Durham Establishment that seems rather hip and trendy if you want donuts & coffee. Now the menu for donuts isn't super extensive or should you expect your typical strip mall donut shop. They have a limited pasty selection but you should find what you're looking for. They make coffee per order and it was a decent cup of joe. Service was fast and friendly. The place has ample seating inside with some outdoor seating that's not just bunched together, someone obviously put some thought into how the seating outdoors would look. Cool place, I'd come back.

Yelp
Simple yet delicious brunch Order at the counter and grab a table. Don't be intimidated by the crowd - there is high turnover. Their brunch items are simple but well done. I especially liked the avo toast and their Asiago bagel. Don't sleep on their donuts - they are fresh and handmade

Yelp
Monuts is one of my favorite breakfast spots in downtown Durham. They are normally packed if you go on a weekend but you can still expect quick service! They also have ample seating, so you can enjoy your meal or take it to go. While they are known for their donuts (the flavors rotate) they also have a full breakfast menu and coffee selection. Everything that I've gotten from monuts has always been great!

Yelp
this is a great, noisy hip breakfast place with a lot of fun bagel sandwich options. There was a line, but it moved quickly. I didn't try the donuts, but they looked delicious.

Yelp
My first visit to Monuts here in Durham. If you are like me and have never visited, know that they are EXTREMELY busy on a Saturday morning. Pro tip: Order ahead and pick up your food at the to go door on the side of the building. They have a large menu with plenty of brunch/lunch options. I selected the everything bagel w/ bacon and white cheddar. The bagel itself was decent, but what I appreciated most was the quality of the bacon on the bagel. Outside of their regular menu they also have a case filled with bake goods - it was difficult to pick just one thing because it all looked so good. Ultimately I went with the peach bun and let me tell you, it was delicious. I also got their iced chai latte but it was nothing to write home about - probably would skip next time. Inside the restaurant was very loud, so we opted to sit in their little outdoor garden area which was the perfect place to relax and enjoy breakfast.

Yelp
Always a fan of the people, the food, and the homey indoor/outdoor seating. I love coming back to try all of their seasonal donut flavors. The new chocolate mummy and pumpkin spice donuts did not disappoint!

Colleen R.

Yelp
My favorite place to get avocado toast. I love all of their food. The service is top notch, employees are kind. The ambiance is amazing, it is a very cool and unique place. I love Monuts!

Yelp
Amazing donuts -- crispy on the outside, fluffy and tasty on the inside, and always some new interesting flavor. We like the cinnamon buns too! And when you get a dozen donuts (or pastries and donuts combined), there is a discount. This time round we had apple cider donuts (standard and good), cranberry earl-grey donuts (one of the day's specials), and ginger hibiscus donut (another special). They were all good! We also had raspberry jam scones - delightful texture on the outside, full of jam on the inside - good, but very sweet, and not really a scone. More of a jam tart. And of course, we got a couple of the cinnamon buns -- they have a lot of sugar on them, but they're delicious. But what makes Monuts exceptional is really the donuts - both the unusual flavors (which are always changing) and the texture (crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside). It's clear that they really work hard at this, and the results are exceptional. I think they open at 7:00 am, and often there's a line at that hour. Come by at midday, and they may be out of almost everything. You'll see in the pictures I posted that it's dark out (as in not yet light) -- we got there early to get a good selection.

Yelp
The Turkish Egg and Avocado was well-seasoned and flavorful. The sandwich came out warm and the focaccia was crispy on the outside. The seasoning complimented the combination of kale, eggs, and avocado. Rating 5/5 I had the cider donut which was okay. Not the best I've had. Probably would have been better if it was served warm. Rating 4/5 Service was fast and efficient. Staff was nice. The atmosphere is casual. There were lots of seating but most were taken when I went around 10am on a Saturday.

Yelp
As a VERY long wait on a Friday mid morning. No tables to sit in and waited 30 min for bagels w lox and the bagel was cold and hard not worth $12! The latte was hot and came out quickly. The restaurant was very loud and you couldn't hear the cashier asking whatever questions. Wouldn't go here again.

Shelly D.

Yelp
Seriously the best breakfast sandwich I've ever far, hands down!! We also got some baked goods for the house. All things delightful!

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about Monuts that I had to go and try it myself! The one downside of Monuts is that it's pretty busy. The way it works is you line up and order at the counter, then take a number to the table. There is also an option for pickup ordering, so I might try that next time. I came to try the donuts, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a pretty large brunch menu. You could sandwiches, quiche, and other breakfast items. Everything looked really good. I ended up ordering half a dozen donuts, and I thought they were absolutely delicious. The donuts are rich and tasty with some unique flavors. I really liked the earl gray flavor. The half dozen donuts cost about $14-$15 dollars, so it's definitely a little bit more on the "treat-yo-self" spectrum. In terms of seating, they have a good number of tables indoors. We opted for their outdoor picnic table seating. They have a handful of tables reserved for them outside, which is in a really nice and relaxing space.

Yelp
Atmosphere: The inside of Monuts is quite spacious with pastries on display. It has a very "local" and welcoming feel! Service: The people at Monuts are super friendly and prompt with orders. When we went, Monuts was take-out only due to COVID and had options to order in store or online (and pickup outside).  Food: We've ordered several items from Monuts -- the Apple of My Eye Sandwich, The Usual with over easy eggs, Moroccan Chicken Soup, Avocado Toast, Grit Bowl, and a Build Your Own Bagel (everything bagel, over easy egg, bacon, avocado, red onion). Everything we've gotten has been fantastic! We especially loved the Grit Bowl, as it had a variety of unique flavors from the rich sausage and sweet/spicy potatoes, which we've never experienced with grits. The Build Your Own Bagel was also delicious and came at a reasonable cost for the freshness and quality of ingredients. Overall: Monuts is a Durham gem with quality service, atmosphere, and selection of items. We're always excited to see the seasonal additions and new rotations to the menu. We're looking forward to eating more at Monuts and hopefully in person soon!

Yelp
The name Monuts just tickles me for some reason. They have a small selection of both yeast and cake donuts with some very unique flavors. Yeast donut: orange pistachio and cake donut: chocolate chai. In addition to donuts, they have soups, quiche, salads and sandwiches. I went basic and ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel. The hubs went adventurous and ordered the Ooey Gooey Gouda which is your choice of bagel, roasted heirloom tomato jam, applewood smoked bacon, farm egg (prepared to your liking) and melty gouda cheese. He felt the tomato jam was good but was missing something but couldn't quite pinpoint what that something was. lol All in all, we both really enjoyed our sandwiches and will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Yelp
We came here specifically for donuts but you can also dine in for other breakfast items. The line was super long on a Friday and we were luckily about to just walk up to the donut counter to order. I got an Earl Grey donut and the earl grey was infused within the glaze. The donuts were perfectly round and super light and fluffy. You can taste a hint of the earl grey which goes really well with the sugar of the glaze. Wished the earl grey had more flavor in the actual donut itself.

Yelp
Monuts was packed on a random Wednesday morning so that should tell you how good it is! My friend and I both got seasonal specials- Bah Bah Bacon and Everyday I'm Brusselin. Both of these were SO GOOD, but I liked the latter more because of its pillowy flaky biscuit, sweet & savory contrast with apple butter, and my love for brussels sprouts. We also got donuts- red velvet and raspberry coffeecake- but these were a bit lackluster as the flavors could have been stronger. 7.5/10 would recommend!

Yelp
A great midday cafe for lunch - it has a complete sandwich menu with some other stuff like quiche available- light and airy inside - good choice!

Yelp
Monuts always hit the spot. Their breakfast burrito is hands down the best in town. The crispy bacon, smooth guacamole, and maple syrup glazed potatoes all combined together with some soft scrambled eggs just absolutely wakes up all your tastebuds. The chewy and soft tortilla is another texture enhancer that really brings the burrito over the edge. Personally, our family prefers yeast donuts and they always have new flavors. This time, the raspberry with custard was really really special. The custard is not too overwhelmingly sweet and brings a great balance to the semi tart raspberry glaze. You can't go wrong with the normal glazed donut. We've tried many cake donuts and it's a hit or miss for us, but that's just mostly bc we don't prefer cake donuts. I do remember their Earl Grey cake donuts giving me mouth so much joy ... long long ago haha. The only reason I am giving Monuts 4 stars is because not all their food will give this awesome experience. The menu changes often or has new dishes and we try to eat something different and some items are hit or miss - but overall Monuts is still a solid place to bet on. Taste: 4/5 Presentation: 3.5/5 Recommend to a friend?: Yes Consistent: 85% of the time Cost: $$ Parking: street parking - best of luck if it's during their busy hours.

Yelp
Fresh, farm-grown food where the taste truly reflects the quality. I got the avocado toast which was served on delicious focaccia bread. The maple sriracha home fries were my favorite and the espresso chocolate bar was decadent. Great breakfast spot.

Yelp
Monuts is hands down the best cake donut place in the Triangle. Although they do not only sell donuts, your tastebuds would be missing out if you go and don't at least get one for dessert. In all honesty though, everything on the menu is delectable. The shop's aesthetic is modern coffee shop sprinkled with, what I think of as, Durham culture. They sell coffee made from locally roasted coffee beans along with other food and food-related products (i.e. granola and cookbooks). The employees are compensated with livable wages, and the tables are roomy enough to bring some work or homework. I have included a photo of two donuts (chocolate with sprinkles and cinnamon sugar), but they have alternating seasonal and exciting flavors that keep you coming back for more!

Yelp
After exclusively getting takeout from Monuts for quite a while, I decided to dine in. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, and it was easy to find parking. They were in their 'coffee shop hours' so the menu was limited. When I reached the counter, I was greeted by the employee. I ordered a hot chocolate and then asked if they still had bagels (the menu said while supplies last). He said yes and then just stared blankly at me. Normally, you would expect to be told what options they have available, but after several more awkward moments of silence, I asked what bagels they have available. They had a couple of types left, so I ordered a plain bagel. Silence again. Then I asked what kind of cream cheese they had left. He listed the options, and I ordered scallion and chive. I mention all this because it's a very common occurrence for Monuts to run out of types of bagels/cream cheese on the weekend when ordering online, so I didn't want to assume what they still had at 2:30 on a Saturday. Also, it just was such an awkward interaction, and I felt like I was painfully extracting information from him. I also ordered an orange creamsicle donut. The donut came out to my table pretty quickly, and it was very good. The bagel followed soon after, and although it was barely toasted (I had opted for toasted), it tasted pretty good. When the bagel arrived, the employee took my table number away, which was weird to me because my hot chocolate still hadn't arrived. I went back to the counter and asked about my hot chocolate, and it turns out that the employee had never put the order for that in. Once that was finally ready, I was done with all of my food. The hot chocolate was 70% whipped cream, which while delicious, filled the majority of the already small mug. The hot chocolate underneath it was good but lukewarm. All in all, I had a pretty mixed experience. The food is not inexpensive here, so I was hoping for more in terms of consistency and customer service. I'm not sure if I will be back to dine in for a while.

Yelp
ONE OF MY FAVORITE BRUNCH PLACES IN DURHAM. Order early, as the wait can be up to 75-90 minutes on weekends, but worth it if you plan correctly. This cozy little spot serves up some of the most delicious and creative dishes around, all made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients that are bursting with flavor. The menu at Monuts is varied and offers something for everyone, from classic egg dishes to vegan and gluten-free options. My friends and I particularly love the Breakfast Burrito, which is packed with savory scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and fresh veggies, all wrapped up in a warm tortilla. And the donuts are obviously amazing - I always get the cinnamon apple and it's always perfect. What really sets Monuts apart, though, is the commitment to sustainability and community. The staff are friendly and kind, always happy to help. And the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, although indoor seating has been closed since covid (I believe it still is). Overall, I would highly recommend Monuts to anyone looking for a delicious and filling breakfast or brunch in Durham.

Yelp
Great donuts, no tips, and ethical wages! First of all, they pay their employees $16/hr, hence the no tip policy. Secondly, their donuts are great. While they aren't the cheapest in the world, the donuts are super dense and high quality. The first time I went, I got the blueberry basil and original glazed donuts, which were both amazing. Both are super fluffy yet dense yeast donuts. I would describe the texture as a more structured krispy kreme donut. And the flavors were great- neither was too sweet, and were just solid donuts. Going off of the krispy kreme comparison, the glaze doesn't "harden" like krispy kreme's does- it stays pretty shiny and wet, which isn't a problem either because they wrap it in paper. The second time around, I got their chocolate sprinkle donut and apple cider donut. The apple cider donuts sell out pretty early on the weekends, but it's really easy to score one during the weekdays. The apple cider donut is amazing, a perfect balance of fluffy, almost crispy, and a hint of salt. The chocolate sprinkle donut is really good as well. Like the other yeast donuts, it's super fluffy and dense, and the chocolate glaze isn't pure sugar, with legit chocolate flavor. Eating two of them in one sitting wasn't a great idea, and I felt pretty sick afterwards. Nonetheless, great donuts. I also love their takeout system.

Yelp
They do have some interesting takes on a number of food items and all I have tried have been okay...it is WAY noisy, so if it's anything more than a casual conversation and you need to get something done with others, this might not be the place...and wow, for a breakfast/brunch kind of joint, the coffee is really lacking.
google avatar

Yelp
Just moved to the area and I am so happy to have found Monuts - it's such a gem! The donuts are delicious, I have yet the have a flavor that I didn't like. The build your own breakfast sandwich option is great, especially the biscut. My favorite thing I have had so far is the heirloom summer breakfast sandwich which was absolutely amazing - the goat cheese, fresh tomato, salt, and pesto was a killer combination that I will definitely be coming back for. The space is cute and spacious, especially with the outdoor picnic tables. It gets super busy on Saturday (closed on Sunday) so make sure to factor in a little wait or to order online.
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
The absolute best Durham has to offer. This ain't your regular spot to grab breakfast or brunch. The menu is dynamically crafted....scratch made goodies...ridiculously delicious! Only one secondary flaw...Toast is the payment method for take out...it is a horrible payment process filled with errors (rejects legit debt/cc payments). Sidebar: Uber eats also erroneously indicates this business is closed on Saturday which is false (they're open). I typically order via pick up because the place is often busy with waiting lines (& for good reason...the food is way above par)
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
This place was so good! Our group had donuts, blts, pimento cheese and sausage biscuit, Turkish eggs and avocado and a variety of drinks! Our group left raving about this stop in our day! Would gladly go again.
google avatar

Caroline D.

Yelp
The best sourdough bread I have ever had. The staff were absolutely amazing and deserve the world. Wish I could've taken home a loaf of that bread. The eggs, ice coffee, and Avocado toast was so filling was the best meal I've had in months. Great atmosphere espically with good friends
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
They're running a pure takeout operation right now. You can walk up to a window and order as well as doing it online. While these are premium donuts, a box of a dozen was a good deal, and I got my pick of flavors. The variety was well-received by my audience of co-workers. I was excited for the apple cider donut myself, which was a thick cake-y variety. It was the only one I tried personally. The place had a menu of various breakfast dishes with options for special dietary needs as well. The donuts aren't exactly diet fare, but they are impressive.

Jl S.

Yelp
This was our favorite breakfast place on our visit to Durham. So many choices that all looked good. We ordered the "All You Avo Wanted" and the quiche with soup. Everything was so fresh and prepared well. Split a pistachio donut because how can you resist.
google avatar

Hannah E.

Yelp
Monuts achieved the unlikely in making a breakfast burrito actually interesting - they infused their pillowlike scrambled eggs with flavor on their own, made a little bacon-maple-cupcake-like taste sensation out of the mixture of home fries with sriracha and maple syrup a bacon, and generally just knocked it out of the park. I would almost never order a breakfast burrito on an interesting and unique menu like this, but they were out of the biscuit with pumpkin butter and house sausage, so here we were. While New Yorkers would probably hate Monuts' light and airy crunchy-crusted bagel, I liked it, and liked how heavy handed they were with the manchego and greens on the 'eggspanola'. As for the baked goods, the lemon curd on the scone was appropriately tart, and the pistachio fig blondie was more like an energy bar than a sugar bomb.

Yelp
Monuts is right near Duke's campus and I came after my friend from NC recommended it. Their parking lot is currently converted to a pickup/waiting station, but street parking is available. They're only open for takeout and I suggest placing an order online ahead of time since the wait can be quite long. I waited around 20min for my order when I placed it right when the store opened at 8am. The service was really friendly too. They had an employee check in and greet customers, and the person who handed me my order sincerely thanked me for supporting the business especially during COVID. My family and I loved their donuts! I tried the Ginger Hibiscus and Orange Poppy Seed and the texture was chewy yet fluffy. The flavors are also really distinct and not overly sweet. At $2 for one, it's reasonably priced and it's even cheaper if you buy it by the dozen. TLDR: Flavor packed donuts with amazing texture, but place an order ahead of time since this place gets busy!

Yelp
Came in for a quick brunch and I was very happy with the menu options. I tried the peanut butter and chocolate iced latte. I'm not a donut kind of person but I was so impressed with their Cake Donuts I loved them all. Can't go wrong with the apple cider donut I'm definitely coming back for more menu items!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in Durham and need a place to grab a small breakfast and great coffee, definitely stop at Monuts! My wife was giving me a tour of all her favorite spots in Durham and I can see why Monuts is on that list. I made my own breakfast sandwich (everything bagel, egg, bacon, and pear jam) and grabbed a latte. The bagel was delicious and the jam was a nice sweet touch that complimented the rich yolk and salty bacon. The latte was masterfully prepared and had the timeless rosetta latte art. We'll definitely be back to Monuts when we're in town again!
google avatar

Yelp
Can't believe I waited so long to visit. This place has a cult following for a reason!! RUN don't walk to @monutsdonuts in Durham for an epic meal! There's a reason 8 cars were already lined up for pickup at 7:30 in the morning * Mounts is a cafe + bakery offering breakfast & lunch sandwiches, soups and salad and DONUTS! Everything is made from scratch with seasonal, local ingredients * Order Online, by phone or at the walk-up window. On the week days text them when you arrive so they'll bring out your order, on busy weekends find a staff member

Yelp
The donuts are wonderful, they change up usually every month. We always love the regular glaze, whatever cake donut they have and my toddler is a huge fan of the sprinkles. Their online ordering website is so easy to use, if you are ordering donuts it's usually ready a little faster than the time listed. One day we'll order something else with our donuts but for now it's our special weekend breakfast treat. I also have to shout out their Christmas cookie kits, we got a box to decorate with our toddler and not only was it the easiest and most stress-free version of this activity, the cookies were also super delicious! I am usually a sugar cookie hater, especially a glazed one, but these were so good I tried to sneak a bite of my kid's cookie! There were 12 cookies, 6 sugar cookie trees and 6 gingerbread people, 3 colors of icing and some holiday sprinkles. They keep well for a few days so we've been able to stretch it out a to be an activity after dinner, will definitely be ordering these again!

Yelp
THE DONUTS!!! Excuse me while I drool in Homer Simpson. They are so good! The best ones I've had in the area! My only thing I wish they had more flavors to offer. But what they have is amazing! Lately when I go in they've only had 3 flavors. But they're still freaking amazing.

Yelp
This place was BUSY! Got here 5 minutes after they opened on Saturday morning and waited almost 30 minutes. The donuts are incredible though, probably the best glazed donut I've ever had - so soft!!

Lauren B.

Yelp
I love monuts! I order from them about weekly ever since i moved here two years ago! Some of my favorites are their avocado toast and lattes.

L H.

Yelp
Nicely organized except for the yelling of names for coffees that drive us outside. Decent coffee. Bagels a bit closer to a sourdough/parker house roll but tasty. Scone with lemon curd was meh

Yelp
Tl;dr: The perfect breakfast spot with great pastries/donuts, breakfast items, and coffee. Just moved to the area so I have been looking for a great place to sit down and put some online work in while having coffee. I was a little nervous after moving from Portland, OR but I found this place no problem one morning after a dentist appointment (because why not re-stain my teeth after my bi-annual cleaning??). It's counter service, so please be kind and order before sitting down. The menu is pretty straight forward, offering food and coffee on a single paged-menu. In the display case are fresh donuts that people can't seem to get enough of. I am not a donut person (sorry, I know) but I think it is obvious that this place does very well by their donuts. I love a bagel sandwich so I ordered an everything bagel with chive cream cheese, tomato, onions, and breakfast sausage with scrambled egg. The taste of everything was great! They make their own breakfast sausage. My only issue with this sandwich is that they don't wrap and cut the sandwich, which makes eating it difficult since you will be coming at it from the circumference instead of the delicate middle (i.e. everything will squish out the back/sides when you bite down). Worry not, just alternate bites or rearrange things as needed. The flavor was still great. As for coffee, I got their cardamom rose (seasonal) latte. Are. You. Kidding. Me. This will be my new go-to coffee order here for as long as they have it. It is a beautifully smooth drink and spiced perfectly. The table selection is spread out and wide so the space is used well. There are air vents throughout so there is a constant flow of air (may be an issue if you are against the tables along the front door and get cold easily). There are electrical outlets against the entrance wall so posting up to study is a non-issue when it comes to power. The people are friendly, so don't expect a quiet environment because people are talking and laughing and having a great time. And so will you. Eat here. Drink here. Be nice to the staff.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito is to die for however, it's only available during the week. It is worth rearranging your schedule or being late to the office - it's that good! The donuts are delicious and there are always interesting flavors. For lunch, I'd recommend getting their soup and some avocado toast. It is filling and they always have great vegetarian options. The service is wonderful you'll always get a smile with your order. The coffee is good but the food is really where monuts shines. I can't say enough about this place - it is my favorite restaurant in Durham.

Yelp
It is one of the most mid donuts I have ever tried. The employees are nice. The vibe was like that of a coffee shop, Not bad.

Yelp
Came for the donuts but was surprised by the drinks and food! Came in awhile ago with friends and really loved my experience. Knew I had to drop in before I graduated and I'm so glad I did. The donuts themselves were excellent. We got the chocolate and apple cinnamon and the flavors were great. Definitely moist and just right. I also got a chai latte that was delicious. Maybe a bit too spicy for my liking but still worth it. My friends really loved their food as well! Will be coming back before graduation:)

Yelp
Monuts is forever my comfort food place. Their chicken and pickle biscuit sandwich is flavorful, and I especially love how soft and perfectly crumbly the biscuit is. Another favorite of mine are their Maple Sriracha home fries, which are a little spicy and extremely tasty. I have also had their salted bagel before, and have found that no one does salted bagels like Monuts does. Their donuts are pretty good as well, especially if you like thicker and denser donuts. Finally, their interior decoration is adorable, with artsy graphics covering all of the walls. I can't wait for indoor seating to open back up! Will always be coming back to this place.
