"Hip Italian cafe Monza offers hearty salads, filling pastas, and crisp, wood-fired pizzas — all without meat. Start with the beet salad with ricotta salata and then go into the vodka sauce pasta or the Campari pie with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, eggplant, roasted red pepper, olives, capers, and goat cheese." - Erin Perkins

"Newly renovated Monza Pizza Bar opened last night with twice the seating and pizza ovens as the previous version. Restaurateurs Tim Mink and Brooks Reitz (Leon’s, Melfi’s, and Little Jack’s Tavern) led the project. They tore down the walls between the two restaurants, rearranged the spaces, redesigned the dining room, and added a full bar. Executive chef Reid Henninger (formerly of Edmund’s Oast) and chef de cuisine Emily Hahn (formerly of the Getaway) added new dishes to the menu and tweaked a few of the classics — die-hard fans shouldn’t worry too much about drastic changes." - Erin Perkins

"Upper King favorite pizzeria Monza will reopen as Monza Pizza Bar, as early as next week. Restaurateurs Tim Mink and Brooks Reitz (Leon’s, Melfi’s, and Little Jack’s Tavern) lead the project. The duo began by shutting down beer bar/Monza neighbor Closed for Business to be able to tear down the walls between the two restaurants, rearrange the spaces, change up the menu, redesign the dining room, and add a full bar." - Erin Perkins

Located on the main drag (King Street) in downtown Charleston SC. Service was mediocre at best. Place was reasonably clean. In regards to the menu, there were limited choices and lacked even plain bread to go with their pasta meals. Dishes were expensive and no sides included. Had the Carbonara. It had decent flavor and was an adequate portion size. Not bad for a quick meal and/or a pizza pie. With just a little bit more attention from the staff and a few adjustments to the menu, this place could easily go above average.

Cute car theme, good service, just watch out for those left over pizza crumbs on the bench seats! Pizzas were okay, a bit on the salty side for my taste, carbonara was a little too heavy with the parmesan but at least not soupy with sauce. Best thing I had were the meatballs - great mix of meats with a hearty sauce served with a tasty white pizza.

My wife and I stopped for a late dinner. We sat at the bar and ordered the Ronnie Peterson, a pizza with pesto, ricotta, mozzarella, garlic, chicken and artichokes. It was phenomenal! A wonderful medley of flavors. We split the Boozy Tiramisu for dessert. The bartenders were great. I would definitely eat there again!

Awesome Pizza Restaurant - I had the Grand Prix pizza which was so good. Nice surroundings, welcoming and friendly staff with quick service. You can sit at the bar and watch the pizzas being made fresh to order.

Stopped in on a whim for dinner, on our quick 2-day trip to Charleston. So glad we did! Cool ambience. Wood-fired pizza. Great atmosphere. Anna, our waitress, was very nice, and the pizza was absolutely tasty! Highly recommend this spot on King St.

The service was excellent, the food just decent. At $120, incl tip for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, it was overpriced. Stay away from the beet "salad". It's literally a massive bowl of beets. A salad it is not.

Awesome Italian place. Came with family and shared a pizza (12"), bolognese, and my mother has a sausage chowder soup. All good. Service was excellent

Lacking any genuine customer service and care for guests, Monza will likely be an ephemeral pizza blight on upper King. My family were given an estimated 15 minute wait. After about 25 minutes, and seeing other parties of similar sizes be seated before us, we were seated in the back where there was ample room, however the existing guests had to move their belongings because we were sat at non-empty table when others existed. When asked why it took so long, Brandon, the "Manager," said it was our fault that we didn't tell him that we'd be holding onto our infant; no apology or "what can I do," simply putting fault on a guest when I did however tell the host, when checking in, that I had a baby and would be happy to sit anywhere. Upon leaving nobody, including Brandon, thanked a guest for coming or simply held a door for a person with a stroller. After leaving the restaurant I called to discuss with Brandon about my experience. After his rudeness I requested to talk to his manager I was told that he was hired into that position so the owner wouldn't be bothered. Southern hospitality does not exist at this establishment. The pizza crust was satisfying, however the sliced mozzarella was the thinnest I've seen on a "Neapolitan" pizza (and I've been to Naples). Overall, this is not a place I would venture back and clearly would not recommend. I am a proud Charlestonian, and it sincerely bothered me to have this experience and potentially to visitors of this City we hold dear.
