Mort's Deli LA

This place is fantastic ! Sandwiches are piled so high with meat, soups and sides are all delicious ! I had the bacon cheeseburger today. It was awesome !They also serve breakfast all day, which I really like, because they make a really good breakfast burrito. I will definitely go back again, any time I'm in the area.

I actually had it delivered- and it was amazing! You see I have been on a Chinese Chicken Salad 🥗 binge but everyday is somewhere different - i have been trying to find the best Chinese Chick salad here in the valley and maybe in LA! Who woulda thought that Morts would have even come close! But yes it delivered (literally and figuratively) - I highly recommend if you want a classic delicious CCS! And there was enough for 2 meals !

I saw this Mort’s Deli around Tarzana. It turns out it has been an institution in that area for the last 60+ years! The restaurant has been renovated late last year 2024. What you see now is a nice, inviting restaurant that still kept a touch of nostalgia with the traditional booth seatings. Saturday lunch crowd filled up most of the booths. I had the lunch combo for $19 that came with a coleslaw salad. Add $1 gets you a matzo ball soup. The matzo ball has more of a silky consistency like mashed potato. It was not as flavorful or dense as the other matzo ball soup I had in LA, but it was still quite satisfying. The pastrami sandwich was not as big as the ones you’ll expect from say Langer’s. I was also hoping the cuts of pastrami I got will be richer (reads fattier) but it was more on leaner side which a lot of people probably prefer. There is abundant parking at the back.

The main reason I'm writing this is at the end...My wife and I were out for a drive and she wanted something from a deli. We haven't been to Mort's in decades and thought that would be a fond memory to relive. When we arrived we were surprised to see all the booths were empty! We thought it may have been because of the holiday, but didn't overthink it. We picked a booth and got immediate attention. We ordered what we wanted without opening a menu. Lox and cream cheese on a sesame bagel for me and a chopped liver sandwich for her. The orders arrived quickly and they looked like a painting. Each was garnished with super fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber and pickle slices, and a few olives, too. The garnish alone was a satisfying meal. We both loved what we ordered but my wife couldn't finish hers so I get leftovers for breakfast. Yea. Anyway, as we got back in the car, I noticed the owner locking the door we had just exited. It was a little after 5 so we thought they were closing early for the holiday. Just now, eight hours later, I glanced at their website and found that they close EVERY day at 5! They had been closing shop as we walked in, but as good hosts, never said a word. We enjoyed their hospitality, after hours and you can't put a price on that.

This was my first time visiting this place, so I can’t speak to their sandwiches or other menu items. However, I ordered the chicken noodle soup to go and it was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. The broth barely tasted like chicken and had no seasoning at all. The noodles were cheap and mushy (similar to instant ramen), and it only had a few pieces of carrot and small bits of chicken. For over $12, it was incredibly disappointing. Definitely skip the soup. I won’t be going back.

This place used to be great. Now the give you barely any meat on the sandwiches and side of macaroni was 2 bites .21.99 for a sandwich that is a ripoff.Been going there 25 years no more.Buyer beware they are skimping on the food.Terrible.Hadios.And no phone number to call back.Brents is the place now.Shame on them.I guess they have to pay for the reservations but not at the cost of the customer. They is way better places to spend your money. Shameful!!

MORT'S DELI, DOESN'T MATZ-O-ROUND!!!! I just had the BEST Ruben Sliders! I'm so happy, that my sister Gena and I, decided to try Mort's for lunch! Best service and good food! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because, I ordered the Mini Latke Rubens, from the Specials menu, what I got was Ruben sliders, minus the Latke's. (I didn't complain because we didn't have time to wait for the latkes) The other reason they didn't have 5 stars, was because the potato salad wasn't homemade or maybe it was homemade but tasted like the store bought potato salad in a container. Will I come back to Mort's? ABSOLUTELY! I'm dying to try the MATZO BALL SOUP!!!

May 21,2024 Their pastrami sandwich was better than I expected, the service was great. They give big portion. The staffs were very attentive specially the lady named Lucy. I will try more of their menu for sure.

Morts is the best I've known some of these people since I was a little boy. Closed for remodeling so calm before you go can't wait to come back!

It has changed. The corn beef sandwich was not close to as good as before and I have been coming many years. The table clean is the best part of this place. It is not the great deli it used to be. It just seems to of changed. There are better deli in Los Angeles now. It was ok. Not worth the long drive. If you are a local it good.

I looooove it here. The staff is so nice. The food is so good. They just remodeled and it is beautiful!

Very solid food, very nice staff, quintisential deli atmosphere. I was surprised to learn they are owned by the Nosh of Beverly Hills, though Mort's feels more authentically "close to the ground." Blintzes: the format was wider than what one normally sees, which actually makes it easier/neater to eat, and truly delicious. (The jam on the side had chunks of berries making it a standout.) Grilled Cheese: perfect balance of butter on the grilled bread and nicely melted cheese. Flavour: excellent. Fries: very nicely done. Tuna melt: I decided to go outside the lines and got jack cheese. Very good choice. Cucumber salad as a side... dream worthy. Coffee was solid. Friendly service. Definitely worth getting off the freeway to get a bite here.

This was next to the dry cleaners I use so finally decided to try this last Saturday. I ordered to go - pastrami corned beef sandwich and it comes with a side of either potato salad, coleslaw or fries. I got the coleslaw. Service was quick and I got my order in less than 10mins. The lady who took my order was really nice and answered all my questions. The sandwich was filling and ordered it to share with hubs at home. The pastrami and corned beef is not salty (as sometimes they can be) and just right. The bread held up well despite the humongous amount of meat. Coleslaw was good and not watery - loved it. I didn't dine in but I can tell that the place hasn't been renovated - but that can be part of its charm. I came around lunch time so the dining area is busy. I would come back for take out.

Morts is a historic Jewish deli. They have an extensive menu including many traditional Jewish deli items and sandwiches as well as American style items. They also have a butcher section where u can buy meat. The service varies, but most of the people are nice even when the service is just ok. They have traditional men's and women's restrooms that are clean. Their ranch dressing is custom made and very good with their fries with the sandwiches. They are connected to Bea's Bakery but they are separate businesses. Parking is in the back, but due to the market and other businesses that share the strip mall, parking can be challenging, but you can usually find a spot. We really like the Ruben and Club sandwiches, but other items on the menu are great. We recommend giving Morts a try. Check out the menu on line or Yelp photos and find something u might like to try.

Easily ordered for pick-up online. I got a quart of matzo ball soup and a corned beef sandwich. My order was packaged well and the person at the counter was kind enough to ask me if I wanted a side with my sandwich, since that wasn't an option to add when I ordered online. The sandwich was great, exactly what you want a corned beef sandwich to be. I got mine on rye! The matzo ball soup was good. It came packed with lots of noodles and bits of chicken and carrots. The chicken was a little overdone, and the matzo ball was a little too soft for my liking. The taste of the broth was yummy. I was feeling under the weather and it totally hit the spot! Also loved that they included pickles with my order. Mort's is a great spot for all of your classic Deli favorites. They have plenty of seating inside if you want to dine in, and a large deli counter at the front to order things to go. They also have special menus for holidays.

Oh my gosh, I LOVE this place! This is my go to place to get authentic Matzo Ball soup in the valley! I love this place even more because I placed a pick up order on the way here for 2x large Matzo Ball soups, 2x fries, and their most popular dish, which is the Ruben sandwich that also happens to come with fries. They said 15 minutes for it to be ready but I got there in 5mins and it was ready to go! Gotta love good quality service with great quality food. My favorite Jewish deli in the valley!

Can this place use a bit of an update? Sure. Are the prices kinda high? Maybe. But, there's something to be said for an institution that's been around almost 60 years! It's a Jewish deli, with all the classics you'd expect such as mile high corned beef sandwiches, piping hot matzo ball soup, fish salads, etc. The food is solid and definitely hits when you're craving a deli meal but for me, it's the no bs experience and service you get that makes you wanna go back. There are some old-timers and young servers but they are all attentive and nice, like they're really glad you're there. There's good energy there and that's good enough for me. Don't forget to stop by and grab a black & white cookie at Bea's bakery on the other side of the deli.

Service and food always excellent. Never had a problem with this restaurant. I would eat here again and again. First Deli I visited after moving from New York.

One of the few legit Jewish delis in LA. sandwiches are the most delicious and generous. I give their Breakfasts, Soups, Salads and main courses all five stars. Bagels are the best in town for sure.

Est. 1968- 55 years old and still going strong. Mort's is ideal for the 'pop in' lunch break. Can you ever go wrong with the Soup & Sandwich Combo? I had the Mushroom Barley Soup (delicious) and the half Corned Beef Sandwich with Muenster Cheese (delicious) and a side of Potato Salad (also delicious). The perfect lunch for that particular day, and the service was very friendly. Mort's Deli is great and I can't wait to go back. I only wish Tarzana wasn't so far out of my jurisdiction.

I have tried going here twice after reading reviews and wanted to give a fair shot. Both times have been disappointing. Both my orders were To-Go. For positives the service was friendly and quick. However, that does not outweigh the disappointment of the food and value for the money. I ordered a BLT for $18.95 with a side of cucumber salad. The sandwich was nothling special and had 3 slices of bacon so very disappointing for the price. The cucumber salad came in a 1/2 pint container and was delicious. Did not make up for the pricel Decided to try again and ordered the famous Reuben with macaroni salad for $19.99. The sandwich was good but the macaroni salad side came in a dressing cup that consisted of 2 bites! If I had ordered fries would I have received 5? Extremely disgusted with that. I don't think I will be trying again.

I stopped in here for a weekday breakfast and ordered the french toast. It was busy, but I was able to be seated immediately and received good service. I ordered the larger size, 3 slices, which goes for $14.49. It was a very large portion. It was very light and fluffy, and actually I think I would have preferred it to be a little heavier consistency. Nevertheless, it was cooked golden brown and tasted fine. This seems to be a solid deli, and you probably won't go wrong here whatever you order from the menu.

Ordered a corned beef sandwich and had postmates deliver it. The sandwich was sooo small for the price of $22.79! Very disappointed! Will calm morts to complain when they open the morning.

I ordered the turkey club sandwich and beef dip sandwich which was billed as a delicious and amazing by other reviews but tasted more like a cruel joke. The chef's idea of seasoning seemed to be a sprinkle of salt and a whole lot of regret. Each bite was a reminder that food can be both unappetizing and forgettable, like a one-hit-wonder you never wanted to hear in the first place. If bland were a crime, the entire menu would be serving a life sentence. The service was equally dismal. The waitstaff moved with the urgency of a sloth in a traffic jam, seemingly more interested in their phones than the diners they were meant to serve. When my drink finally arrived--after what felt like an eternity--I wondered if they had taken the scenic route through the kitchen. It was lukewarm, as if it had been poured straight from a bottle that had been sitting in the sun. If you're in the mood for disappointment wrapped in a lackluster atmosphere, then Morts deli is your place. Of precut meat that sits and waits until you order it or Otherwise, save your time and money. There are better ways to torture your taste buds. In the vast landscape of dining options, this one is best left unvisited, a cautionary tale for those seeking sustenance in a world filled with culinary treasures

I had the belly locks plate which was under $20 just in the lox was tasteless. Everything was tasteless. I had to add salt and pepper to my lox to taste anything. Very disappointed. I hope the new owner does better I went to the bakery. Very pricey The danish was not to my favorite The raspberry Mundle bread and it was very mediocre Two danish and six pieces of Mundle bread was $14. Very disappointing.

I ordered to go on this particular visit and my food was ready at the time promised ! Their Lotto machine was fully functioning as an added bonus and as such I made a small donation . My only issue is the baby size of the side dish the macaroni salad - it was the size of a sample you'd get in a supermarket. Other than that the tuna melt itself was very tasty. I'll be back soon.

I have not been to Mort's in years so while I was in the area I thought I'd stop in. I specifically asked for ONE pound of a salad and HALF pound of another. The bill came to more than that amount. The containers are not labeled with the weight and price. I asked them about the bill and the response was the amounts came to more than what I requested. Why would they do that when I specified what I wanted? Why isn't the weight and price noted on the container? The ONLY reason I didn't tell them to re-do the order was because I was late for an appointment. I will NOT return. I can't stand being nickeled and dimed.

The food is plentiful and the quality terrific!!! The staff is friendly and warm and attentive. I stop by every time I am on my way south!!! /

This place is great. The kind of classic deli/diner everyone loves. Very nice staff, very good food, and a good bakery next door. The food is the perfect mix between tasting home made and tasting like it was professionally made. Not too fancy, but very good! Will be returning, no doubt.

An overpriced diner. pastrami has half the meat of a good deli at 90% of the price. pretty good matzo ball soup, but insipid broth. ok service.

Service was great. Food was excellent Mort's is 1 hour away from. Otherwise I would be there once at least once a week. Our breakfast and lunch was soo tasty.

Another place charging more but not keeping the quality they use to have. Customer service did not explain that you had to ask for everything in your sandwich. And the bread is basic. . Spouts have a better sandwich and cost half. .

This little gem is absolutely amazing! The food is so delicious I got the turkey pastrami sandwich it was so good! You walk in and sit wherever, not super quick service but overall friendly and so yummy! Definitely recommend!

I really like their food, especially their matzo ball soup! Nothing fancy, just a typical neighborhood Jewish deli. People are always nice and just feels very "homey" everytime I"m there. The best part is that it's connected to the best bakery in the valley, Bea's bakery!

Wow. The food here is delicious! My grandmother and I happened to be in the neighborhood and found ourselves here at Mort's Deli to take a peak. It's a seat yourself kind of place. Plenty of booths ! The environment was cozy and not too loud! Depending on the hour. The sandwiches were just perfect. Nothing bad to say at all. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a yummy meal.

There is no Better deli in LA than Mort's. This is a very authentic and delicious Jewish deli with wonderful, classic ambiance. All the food we had was superb. The service was top notch. And then after lunch we went next door to Bea's Bakery and had the BEST Jewish cookies in LA. I highly recommend this restaurant! Thank you, Mort's for keeping your quality so high!

Chicken sandwich came with bread and that's it. No fixings or sauces. Dry and old. Phone order was completely wrong after repeating it 3 or 4 times to the person on the phone. They seem to have a staffing issue.

Food tasted good. Both my friend and I were ill about 6 hours later. Could have been a coincidence I guess.

The food is good but this is what a 5.89 order of steak fries looks like. I mean they didn't even fill the bag they sent it in.

We found this little neighborhood place while on our road trip. Our intentions were to find a snack at the connected bakery but we met someone in line who mentioned that Mortz had the best onion rings. We shared a roast beef dip with potato salad and onion rings. The sandwhich came with au jus and a pickle. The onion rings came out a little crispty but the waitress took notice and asked us if we wanted a new batch. The new batch was super yummy, crunchy and tasty. We were outnumbered by friends of the neighborhood, i loved it. The staff was welcoming and engaged. They had restroom, parking in the back and metered parking in the front except on sundays. And obviously they had a to go order deli, we will have to try next time.

Ordered the pastrami sandwich and the Rueben with sides of potato salad and a pickle. Pickle and potato salad were spot on. Rueben was good, but not the best I've ever had. It was smaller than what I expected, and more expensive than I'd like it to be. But, if I was craving one, I'd give it another try. Pastrami sandwich was fattier than I expected, but that's on me for not asking for it to be a lean cut- if that's even an option. Best part is Bea's bakery attached.

Yeah, I just adore a classic Jewish deli/diner. What's not to love with Beas bakery attached! Really low key style dining, no frills. I got a Turkey sandwich which was worth every penny. Sadly my current food restrictions limited me. Really wanted a Rueben or roads beef or French dip and matzo soup. Also a sucker for the sides I could not indulge in. I'll be back when in town

My client sent me to pick up some Muenster cheese and baked salmon. The deli wasn't busy so I was in and out fast. I recommend this place. I came here one time years ago and had their matzo ball soup. Parking is not a problem. Gender neutral restroom and it is for customers only. There are 2 entrances. From the Clark street or from the parking lot.

Morts is a hidden gem. Simple and basic. Nothing fancy. Just good food - Just good service. It's been here for years. I have been coming here for over 25 years and I still enjoy it. Prices are a bit high. Today it was 23.00 for 2 eggs, two slices of french toast and two sausages plus a soda. That being said, I liked my meal. Parking is free and somewhat easy to find in the large lot in back. Service was quick. The ambiance is simple and basic. Diner style. Check it out.

So good. I had the French dip with brisket. Sooo good ! Service was quick and amazing. Server was super sweet and I was in and out in 15mins. So this place is great if you are in a hurry. Loved it

Really great! You seat yourself. There's a front and back entrance. Plenty of parking in the back. Staff is extremely friendly. They have a deli and bakery in the front. They're quick to get your food. Would definitely come back again. Got the half pastrami sandwich and soup (or salad). It's worth the extra $1.95 to upgrade to matzo ball soup. Leave a little room for pastries or some challah. They will also slice the bread upon request.

You did it. You did the opposite of what people need. So tragic. I've been a fan since I was 10 when my folks moved to the valley. Imm 55 and have been going for my whole life. Yesterday was my last visit, ever. Brisket sandwich is BARELY HALF THE SIZE. and what's with the bright yellow challah? You suck. You brought your Beverly hills BU[[$H/7 TO AN ICONIC DELI, and ruined it. With the kitchy mensch t-shirts. Can you not get shirts and put the meat back on my sandwich. Sell it back. Sell it back today and go back to your finance or investment job you came from. TAKEN 50Y AND THREW IT IN THE TRASH. Best analogy I can give is that you buy a $1M brownstone in Brooklyn and rip out the hand carved fixtures and replace them with IKEA. Youre everything wrong with this industry. Nice job!!

We went with some friends and had a fantastic time. The safe was amazing and very personable. We had a variety of different things to eat and all 5 of us cleaned our plates. It was completely comfortable and we didn't feel rushed at all even though they were busy. I would absolutely go back!

Haven't been to Morts in a while; was in the area, decided to try their hot pastrami sandwich. I was totally blown away with what I got: total New York style with the black spice rub on it, very tender, good size sandwich, not giant, that you can't even get your mouth around. Was as good as any of the Westside deli's serving real New York style pastrami. I remember in the past, maybe with the previous owners, their pastrami being that bright red, all American style, and this is totally different ! Highly recommended- even the little side of potato salad was served freezing cold and very good. I would say check it out if you haven't been there for a while.

Been coming here for years. Ordered a Sky High Corn Beef Sandwich. $22.00 prices keep rising and portions keep shrinking. Its name needs to change. Knee high is more appropriate. Probably not coming back .

Who puts pineapple in cheese blintzes? Ordered 3 cheese blintzes "to go" and all 3 were burned black on the outside and had pineapple inside!?!? Disappointing!!!
