"Much like students in their 20s, Moshimo knows how to have a good time and doesn’t really care about seating with back support. This is an izakaya-style Japanese restaurant where fun comes first and Asahi flows like a boozy sea ready to carry you right into the arms of the huge wooden sushi boats. In the red dining room, families celebrate birthdays and friends faux-commiserate the latest turns in their love lives over supersized maki. There’s a fun, novelty-act conveyor belt of gyoza, but our move is ordering a la carte to kick it with the classics like salmon nigiri and a plate of crunchy prawn tempura. Gather a group for an evening of saké margarita-sponsored silliness, and if the sun is shining, nab one of the big tables on the terrace out front. " - heidi lauth beasley

An outstanding establishment that consistently delivers high-quality, delicious food, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Every dish I’ve tried has been exceptional, and the attention to detail in both preparation and service is impressive. I’ve been here multiple times, and it never fails to impress. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. That said, a word of caution: the bill can add up quickly if you’re not paying attention. However, the pricing is clearly displayed, and the staff ensure everything is explained when you arrive, so there are no surprises. All in all, it’s well worth the visit, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ll absolutely be coming back again soon!

We had the pleasure of dining at Moshimo today and I couldn’t be more impressed by how well they accommodated our group of 13! Despite the size of our party, the staff was incredibly organised and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and quickly shown to our reserved table, which was spacious and perfect for our group. The staff worked together seamlessly to ensure our orders were taken promptly, and even though we had a variety of dietary preferences, they made sure each dish was tailored to our needs. It’s clear they are accustomed to handling large groups, and their ability to deliver such seamless service made the experience that much more enjoyable. Overall, Moshimo exceeded our expectations for a lunch outing with a large group. The food, service, and atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to host a larger group or just enjoy a fantastic meal!

Moshimo was lovely. We went as a huge 20-person group, and the staff accommodated that amazingly. I tried the sea-bass ceviche, which was only okay to me, it kind of tasted like cockles, like to the T, which wasn't awful and it was definitely fresh but not my cup of tea. However, a friend and I shared a £40 sushi boat, which more than made up for the mediocre ceviche. It was absolutely delicious, fresh, and looked beautiful. I was super full after sharing the sushi boat and the starter. It was an expensive meal if you're on a budget, definitely a once a month thing for me, but it was really enjoyable!

Alexandra Postar

Google
The food was tasteless. We ordered the boat for £100, it wasn’t worth the money. Wasabi didn’t have any taste, literally taste like water . Sushi filled with ginger, really? Omelette with rice which doesn’t even taste good. The staff was polite and nice, but definitely don’t recommend the food.

We ordered sushi, hot tapas and chicken bulgogi. I’ve eaten in the restaurant before and loved it so accepted it’s a little pricier for the quality. It was honestly so terrible. I’m not one to write a review but blimey it was bad. Half the sushi arrived disassembled, the aubergine had 2 pieces (???) and the bulgogi was so awfully spiced with terrible cheap chicken. The fish in the sushi was not fresh and flavourless. I’ve not ever had sushi that is filled with lettuce before??? What on earth was that. All round really disappointed and £80 worse off. Edited response to moshimo- I’m sorry that you believe it is a better use of your time to write a long catty response to me than it is to look at your own process, question what went wrong with this delivery and improve. You can see I’m not lying from the pictures and evidenced by the fact you’ve told me to lodge a formal complaint with Deliveroo. I don’t know why you are trying to both nullify my experience and also tell me it is true and I should’ve complained through a different medium. To tell a customer to use ai because you just don’t like their response isn’t going to get you anywhere. Deliveroo actually TOLD me to leave a review for you instead of taking it to them! Also- commenting that you have looked at my profile and assessed my other reviews is creepy as hell 🤢

Good service but overpriced and too noisy. Salmon and avocado rolls had very little avocado.

When someone does it good, they deserve praise. Moshimo is a hidden pearl in Brighton. We ordered from the menu card, and got amazing food all around. I dined with my husband and two kids, and although there was screaming from our baby and our toddler was making a mess and wanting to crawl all around, the staff was sweet and caring for us all. They were attentive, helpful, and just made the experience even better. Thank you to all who were catering to us on Thursday :)

The food here was adequate. One of our meals - the chicken katsu, was not great. The quality of the chicken was questionable. However, the waiter was very accommodating. The plant-based options are extensive, great to see.

Yelp
Worst EVER - so called - sushi we have ever eaten in. Beyond crude sushi was huge lumps of rolled cold rice lumped with slimy fish and whatever they put init. Gulps of mayonnaise stacked under the sushi as flavour lol - and considered a dish. Flavours = 0 Presentation = 0 Taste = 0 Waiters - 1 We have not been to a worse sushi in our lives... How do people rate this as a place to go?????

Romain L.

Yelp
Allow me to say that it was a disappointment. I'm talking here about the DELIVERY. I have no idea about the restaurant itself. I've been served rotten food. Rotten avocados, rotten salad which was dark and really soft (as soft as a rotten salad). Plus, the ashio (the yellow vegetable) wasn't ripe at all, very crunchy and tasteless. It was 7:30pm, so I guess they just served the rests of the day which is absolutely outrageous. I'll never order again to Moshimo, serving rotten avocado is the worst as it's a sensible fruit for the stomach.

Yelp
If you are allergic to certain ingredients best avoid Moshimo, well ... maybe just avoid them in general. Requirements for Food Safety standards are disregarded, staff not appropriately trained in handling allergen orders - a guest highly allergic to wheat was kicked out of the restaurant for enquiring WHY the soya bottle on the table lists in bold letters WHEAT as an ingredient yet being told by staff that it does not contain gluten because it gets refilled by a different bottle in the store room with gluten-free soya sauce. At this point it should be mentioned that 1. restaurants are required to provide a list of all allergens contained in their food which wheat was not listed in their allergens list as a separate allergen and 2. gluten and wheat are not one and the same, someone can be allergic to wheat but not to gluten - maybe educate your staff better instead of employing restaurant managers calling their clients "babe" after asking for a manager. Upon asking the staff at my table for a manager to speak to one had the audacity to tell me and I quote: "that's me, babe". Never ever in my life have I experienced such inappropriate, rude, and simply disrespectful staff. Let me repeat myself - we are talking about a guest being severely allergic to ingredients. It was clear that the manager, Mr. "Babe" was unable to provide an explanation and rather reverted to taking our food which had just arrived away and asking us to leave. It is astonishing how a restaurant can't answer simple questions and issues regarding allergies but rather simply kick out a guest. It is obvious by reading some of the restaurant's replies to negative reviews that nobody is prepared to take any responsibility let alone admit to any wrongdoing. You might not agree with the customer's complaint but swallow it, accept it do your best, and move on ... the customer is always right as in the good old days of customer service taught. Today's incident left me with no choice but to report the incident to the Food Standard Agency, the local Brighton Council as well as the Health & Safety Executive. I am sure I will receive one of the many malicious, non-apologetic and blame-shifting replies from Moshimos' management - do yourselves a favor and read these reviews, rather entertaining and highlighting the actual attitude and quality of the restaurant. This incident goes far beyond the absolutely ridiculous, inappropriate, rude, and incompetent staff - this incident affects legal aspects and the legal obligations restaurants have to provide safe food environments. To every other guest who experienced similar issues please do get in touch with me.

Yelp
Terrible service I visited with my two young children and their grandmother, who is in her seventies. The party at the table next to us had a large dog which kept invading our space, eventually jumping on my mother in law, who was terrified. When we asked the waiting staff for help they laughed and ignored our request. The manager told us that the table with the dog were regular customers and instead of helping, he was rude and disrespectful and didn't take our complaint seriously. There was no apology or offer of a discount on the bill. We will not be returning. What should have been a enjoyable family meal turned into a deeply unpleasant experience. I'm just thankful the dog didn't jump at my children. The dog was also obstructing the aisle and a customer in a wheelchair couldn't get through to access the toilets, and once again the restaurant staff refused to intervene or help. It seems that the staff at this restaurant are only interested in serving their friends rather than providing a welcoming environment for other paying customers.

Yelp
We visited for the first time as we are trying all the Sushi restaurants in Brighton. Sushi is our favourite thing. But I have to say we were very disappointed. It was an early evening booking so there was no excuse for the dry, stale, dismal, uninspired, tasteless food that was served up. The restaurant looks great but the food did not live up to its surroundings. Our waitress was very personable but overall service was very slow and our food came at different times so we weren't even eating together. Some Valentine's meal, huh!?

Annie G.

Yelp
The sashimis here were nasty. The fish was mushy and stinky. Also, the waiter was rude. I understand it's a stressful time but other places were still being civil. Will not support here again.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Moshimo. About a year ago, the first time, I was such a fan because I liked the location, setup, decore and especially the food. This time though, the cleanness was questionable, service slow, and the food was awful. What happened Moshimo?

Rachael H.

Yelp
This place is one of my favourite restaurants in the city. The food is absolutely top notch and the service is brilliant. Unlike certain other well known sushi restaurants, the food here is actually fresh. The food is so fresh that it tastes like it has come straight from the sea. I would say that after being to Japan, this is some of the best sushi outside of the country. The portion sizes are perfect and the selection is great. They have so many good dishes to choose from on the belt that you barely even have to order off the menu - although if you do, you will not be disappointed as the hot dishes are delicious. I would highly recommend getting a membership card for here. It cost £12 a year and gets you 50% off on a Monday and Tuesday - so you make it back on the first visit.

Chrystel K.

Yelp
Ordered the salmon teriyaki. The salmon was over-cooked and very dry. I have definitely tastes way better salmon teriyaki than this. I think the gimmick is the conveyor belt of sushi that travels around the room and the modern decor. In general it is ok ... but definitely not the best.

Georgina R.

Yelp
Amazing sushi. Hands down the best I've had in the UK. The nico nico roll was definitely the best thing on the menu alongside the dumplings. My new favorite restaurant in Brighton!

Guy T.

Yelp
This rating is just going based off the food. The ram fish is in big thick thunks and not worth the price. The sushi is not hand made to order. It's made some other time and put in the refrigerator so when you get it the rice is cold. Who wants cold sushi? Service is awesome ! Everyone is so nice but the food is just not.

Aisling B.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and have always really enjoyed it. Sushi can be tricky when it comes to gluten free eating. Soya sauce isn't gluten free, for example. Nor is anything with imitation crab, or anything deep fried. Moshimo do have gluten free soya sauce available if you ask, which is great. They do also have gluten free items on the fun conveyer belt... but I'd say you'll have a better time ordering something off the menu instead of staring it down trying to figure out if the thing passing you does indeed have a bread-like coating on the little thing inside the roll. Not as much fun, but much easier and safer! I love their outdoor area in the summer with the neat little picnic benches.

Essi S.

Yelp
I went for lunch in Moshimo on my day visit to Brighton. It's a fun place with the traditional conveyer belt squirming across the whole restaurant transporting small plates of sushi to hungry customers. It works both as an awesome decorative element as well as a practical food dispenser. You can compile your whole meal from the belt if you like or you can order food from the menu - or combine the both as I did. The belt is pretty great because you can immediately start eating and don't have to wait for anyone to serve you - this is particularly convenient if the wait staff is no where to be found or if you are really hungry like I was ;) I ended up ordering some nice scallop and tuna sashimi with a soft shell crab tempura. I also had some salmon and tuna nigiris and kimchi salad from the conveyer belt. Everything was good but nothing too special to be honest. I'd say the scallops were the highlight of the meal for me. The service was not very good as we had to wait to be served quite a while (thank god for the conveyer belt) and when we did get service it wasn't very polite or nice. What also brought the dining experience down was that we ordered some mineral water with lime and ended up with not only the totally wrong drinks, but they were really bad tasting too. I was actually told that the service is always bad there, but I can only base my opinion on my own experience and that left a lot to wish for.

Yelp
Usual Order: Matcha Iced Tea, Aubergine Dengaku or Seaweed Salad, Faroes (Assorted Vegetarian Sushi) A loyalty card will cost you 10£ but will enable you to get 50% off for you and a pal (less percentage per person if you bring more than 2 people) on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the year (and EVERYDAY in January). It pays for itself with ONE (two-person) meal so it makes no sense not to have one, really. The restaurant is decorated in a traditional Japanese style (tatami room). And in the summer has a lovely outdoor patio area. It also has a conveyor belt of assorted sushi but I rarely order from this as the other food on the extensive menu is so delicious!

Dominic H.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Brighton, as authentic as you will get without being in Japan. Seasonal menus with great choices. Good decor and service is always excellent. Must go for anyone who loves Japanese food.

Yelp
A rainy day by the sea. How very British. Empty stomachs and not a clue where to find what we were after with which to satisfy the rumbles we circled the lanes trying to find something other than a sandwich shop or an Italian restuarant. We were after something oriental. We asked a chef standing outside one of the numerous Italian joints (why so many in such s small area?) and he pointed across the road to this bizarre building saying 'well, there is that place, it's call Mish Mosh or something, I think it's chinese' Moshi Moshi was in fact serving sushi. Such a shame that after all that effort it turned out to be sadly disappointing. My girlfriend ordered (I have no knowledge of what's what on a sushi menu-) and I can't really remember what we had. I do remember the scottish salmon sushimi- we both agree that this was the best thing we'd ordered- and the thing that the restaurant had no hand in making. The staff were grumpy and deeply lacking in energy and enthusiasm which quickly rubbed off onto us. I did like their aprons though.

Rich M.

Yelp
It's been going since 1994 and looking at their site has the smug air of a company almost more concerned with it's eco-credentials than the food it serves. That combined with the fact it was owned by a certain Heather Mills and was known as being the perfect place to take your little organic food eating, no sweets allowed, organic cotton only, home schooled, able to have an adult conversation in a restaurant despite only being five rather than running round like normal horrors little Edmunds and Alices and I was really ready to bury it. So why were we there? Because the sushi, apparently, was to die for... We gave them a tough enough challenge, arriving mid afternoon after a busy Saturday lunch service with the vestiges of the lunch service still being cleared, and the last Alices and Edmunds were flinging their final maki roll at doting mum and dad. It's a conveyor restaurant, with a central preparation area and a hot kitchen though a hatch. The restaurant itself is a copper green cube sitting squat in Bartholemew Square. Despite having just finished lunch there were still a fair and reasonable selection of dishes rolling round. The fish on the nigiri was fresh and sweet, with a nice bite to the rice. A couple of thick shards of mackerel really stood out, still gleaming on the outside, straight from the sea. As well as your standard conveyor belt fare they also have a large hot food menu with some exciting seasonal treats on there. As well as the expected udon noodle dishes, several gzoya, the ubiquitous terriyaki and a pork tonkatsu there's also a marinated Korean pork bulgogi served with a spicy Korean sauce and a terrific sounding Cornish catch of the day (more of that lovely mackerel) dry fried in salt and sansho pepper. For me, there was only one call for an extra dish alongside the nigiri and sashimi and that was a whole softshell crab, sliced in two and cooked in a tempura batter. It was a great choice. A light greaseless batter coated the two halves of crab and the piquant thin chilli sauce offset the rich crab, cooked lightly enough to retain its taste of the sea. A perfectly reasonable, though unexceptional chocolate mousse finished us and we waddled out onto to the blustery seafront, leaving the staff the relax for a few hours before another onslaught of middle class Brighton media refugees and their offspring.

Alexandra B.

Yelp
I really, really like Moshimo. I've never had anything but super fresh sashimi, nigiri and handrolls here, in addition to piping hot meals ordered off the menu. This review is more of a cumulative one, rather than detailing a specific experience. This isn't haute cuisine, and the full experience is a completely different animal from, say, a Michelin-starred restaurant in London. However, for me, it really is as good as it gets for Brighton and Hove in the way of reliably good sushi plus overall affordability if you're a member, hence the 5 stars. I've been coming here for the past three years, and make wild use of the membership card. It's £10 to buy, and is only good for a year, but you get 50% of most food on the menu on Mondays and Tuesdays, and the way my partner and I eat, the card pays for itself twice over in a single meal. It gets really packed on these days though, so if you go at 6:30 on a Monday, be prepared to queue. The salmon sashimi is like buttah! Butter in delicious salmon form. I get really twitchy about fish that isn't fresh or has the slightest fishy flavour, and that's something I've never encountered here. We also tend to be really happy with the crab and avocado temaki, aubergine dengaku, chicken kara age, and the many rolls that come out on the conveyor belt. The menu changes seasonally, and there are quite a few vegetarian and vegan options, which I appreciate. There is a focus on sourcing the food locally and sustainably, so you can feel reasonably virtuous too. I wouldn't write home about the cocktail selection, but they have some refreshing matcha iced tea, as well as Kirin on draft. If we do opt for dessert, we go for the mochi, because they're small, satisfyingly sweet, but not rich. Most of the time, we're so stuffed with sushi, that it's difficult to even contemplate dessert! The service is good- not overly attentive, but they don't leave you high and dry either. Occasionally you might need to flag someone down for the bill or to order, but most of the time, waitstaff come by to check on you and are friendly. Going to Moshimo just feels really homey- it's not pretentious, but we know that when we go there, we'll leave very happy (and maybe go back the next day for a second round).

Kwok W.

Yelp
We always go for the Tonkatsu Ramen however it's really a hit or miss which is a shame. Normally the ramen dish is amazing, aromatic and tastes amazing with the pork belly and well dished servings. However the consistency with the dish is lacking, sometimes it's extremely salty which over powers the whole dish or the pork is overcooked to being chewy as hell. We know how it's suppose to taste like and sometimes the excuses the the saltiness is lacking. I was actually told once they don't season the broth and just boiled it up from its package from the waiter. As a idea, we go twice per 1/2 weeks and we are normally dissatisfied with the outcome. Shame as I wanted to give a better review.

Adam H.

Yelp
My partner and I visited Moshimo in June, and had a very mixed experience. First things first - the service was EXCELLENT throughout, and they did all they could to make us welcome and happy. The venue itself is nicely, and tastefully, decorated. So, the food. My partner, not vegetarian, ordered: Chicken gyoza, prawn tempura, and chicken teriyaki with rice, and pronounced them all excellent. I am vegetarian, and ordered differently. I had: tempura vegetables - which we appallingly overcooked; vegetable gyoza - which were completely oil-sodden and utterly flavourless; and yak udon noodles with vegetarian duck - which were excellent! Over all, I think it's probably worth another try, but I can't rave about it yet.

Gary S.

Yelp
As we turned the corner we were greeted by the striking Opticon in all it's glory with its open walls welcoming us in and were quickly shown to a good size table next to the sushi conveyor, which snakes its way round the open plan space. As you'd expect from any decent Japanese restaurant, Moshimo believe in Japanese culinary traditions and principles using only the freshest seasonal ingredients to create their exciting range of dishes and many of their vegetables come from Ikuko and Robin, who run a tiny farm outside of Lewes growing Japanese vegetables and herbs such as daikon and mizuna. The Seabass Ceviche was subtle but the quality of the fish shone through, the Butaniku Pork Ribs were fantastic in their tenderness, flavour and quality of sauce and the Cod Cheek Tempura were crispy, light and meaty all at the same time. This was our second visit to Moshimo (although the last time we came was about 6 years ago and back then it was called Moshi Moshi) and I feel like it could become a very regular dinner spot. I was surprised how reasonable the menu was priced and if you can take advantage of the 50% members offer then you'll struggle to find anywhere else you can have a meal of this quality at such good value.

Gemma G.

Yelp
The Brighton Moshi Moshi looks more like a modern art gallery than a restaurant from the outside, and the food inside also paints a pretty picture. The conveyor belt was constantly loaded with a good variety of dishes, stacked one on top of the other - Brilliant, you think, until one topples over the side spilling its oily contents all over my friends coat! In fairness to the staff, the situation was handled very professionally with the staff rushing over with clothes to sort out the mess and quickly summoning the manager who graciously agreed to foot the dry cleaning bill. All in all, the food was very good, both from the conveyor and from the al la carte menu. The only thing I would change with regards to the food: 1. the edamame beans should have been a bit fresher and 2. a free refill of miso soup (a la Yo Sushi). Unfortunately, Moshi Moshi have lost a star for their constant pestering over the loyalty card. We had two cards between four of us which entitled us to a 40% discount. Another friend arrived who just wanted a beer and nothing to eat, and three times the wait staff came over to insist that we wouldn't get any discount if he were to eat anything - we get it! He only wanted a beer but was unfortunately made to feel really uncomfortable in being there. Took the shine off the night a bit, but otherwise a good place to satisfy those sushi cravings.

Emily Z.

Yelp
Not good at all. Sushi was NOT fresh. I am pretty sure all the lunch/dinner menus are pre-made in the fridge and then brought out, all they need to do is take the cling film off of the plate. hands down the worst sushi I ever had. Service was good! nice people working there and cool venue but terrible sushi

Sara A.

Yelp
Been here twice now and was as impressed the second time round as the first time. Lovely typical Japanese sushi restaurant, a little bit more relaxed than some of the more popular sushi bars you find around! Great Menu has a wide range of dishes which from what i sampled are delicious! It also offers the conveyor belt that constantly runs different dishes round the restaurant which you just pick off and enjoy! All part of the experience at a restaurant like this. Only real complaint here is no teppanyaki table, i know its a sushi restaurant but i really wish i could find a teppanyaki restaurant in Brighton and this one would be very well suited for one!! Well worth visiting here if you haven't already.

Yelp
If words would be enough to describe my love of sushi... Moshimo has a great place in my heart for it combines two great loves of mine: boats and sushi! I get one of their boats for ANY occasion I can think of and I have attached a couple of photos to prove it. Their commitment to sustainable fishing and star studded Fishlove campaigns are ever so inspiring and the sushi school is an amazing way to learn a new skill. Moshimo, I love you! https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/16311_10151467108516043_785702056_n.jpg?oh=f09dccde7cc7b35732d10d031c4a7d69&oe=551D772B&__gda__=1426775384_97cd0ab217202d8fd1325606ae35b8e1

Yelp
Moshi Moshi can be found in Bartholomew Square just behind the Town Hall and is contained in a dynamic structure, full of glass and defining lines. They are very friendly here and the busy atmosphere gives an exciting buzz to the experience. After getting quite into eel lately I often come here just for that. Fried traditionally in soy sauce I really would encourage anyone to try it if they haven't before, another thing to venture here for is the Dragon rolls. And if you are member during January you get half price off your bill!

Edward G.

Yelp
Sushi is one of my favourite foods to eat out and Moshi Moshi never fails me. The food is great and the atmosphere is friendly. The service is fine but as most the food comes off the conveyor there's not a whole lot of interaction with them. Would recommend Moshi Moshi to anyone looking for a good sushi restaurant but I would advise them to go on Monday to take advantage of the 50% off offer or at least have a voucher to reduce the price.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Unfortunately I disliked this experience a lot. My main of Yaki Udon with faux duck was lovely, but the maki rolls etc kinda sucked, I have to say. I got the vegan cheese and sunblush tomato, which was so bland, and I don't know what the cheese was exactly, but it resembled uncooked tofu (and tasted like it too). The veg tempura was beyond average. The best vegetable tempura i've ever had was at the Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green. I also hated the setup of the whole restaurant- the seating makes you feel like you're sat on a friggin moped. But that's probably just me.

Pete L.

Yelp
The building certainly catches the eye with the Brighton Moshi Moshi, situated right in the centre of the town hall square. It really is a contrast between classical Greek inspired architecture and the Japanese influenced restaurant. The decor inside continues this theme and you may sit along the conveyor belt counter (I actually hate the concept of conveyor belt sushi) or in booths or modern styled tables. It certainly is a busy place and you get a bustling lively atmosphere with your dining experience. I have always found the staff to be very professional and friendly and cannot fault the service. Concerning the actual food, I wouldn't really rave about it. Nothing is particularly bad and ordering a sushi board is a nice way to eat. You get a good selection of sushi on a tasteful board with all the ginger, soy and wasabi you can handle. Call me a traditionalist, but I would have liked to see Japanese chefs in the kitchen. I only noted 20 something westerners clearly following base instructions sent down from the chain's head office. If you go for a full on meal with starter and sake to finish you will rack up a fairly pricey bill, but you can get away with eating at about £15 a head if you aren't famished. The place does somethings well, but I can never fully escape the feeling of stepping into a Japanese take on a restaurant franchise and would probably look elsewhere to the independent establishments in the city for my sushi needs.

Yelp
Fanciest sushi place I have seen in Brighton so far. I mean compared to pompoko or okinami, this place is like a palace. Got seated pretty quickly and the server was nice. I have a problem with the seats though. They are too close to the other table, so I kept bumping into the person behind me... which was awkward. I got the chicken katsu which was tender but didn't have enough curry. My friends got the taster(?) which gave them 12 small dishes and a drink. The first six were mostly veggies and the next six were meat & sushi. Seemed pretty good, but didn't try them, so I can't tell. Also got one of the sushi plates off the belt, but wasn't so good (too much rice & not so fresh). And a Snow Monkey which was all right, but overpriced. All in all, this is a pretty expensive place to eat at. I spent about 20 pounds for my meal. I wanted to try a lot of the dishes on the conveyor belt, but they were just too pricey for my own good. Lost a star because it's expensive and another because it's not very top notch for the price. I mean, 20 pounds? that's 4 pompoko meals! And I'd still have money left over :D

Yelp
I was very disappointed this time. I came here several years ago and had some fantastic food, which I still remember. But this time, I find the menu uninteresting. The food I got was absolutely average, unlike my last visit. I was disappointed by lack of flavor of food.

Yelp
Ah, sushi... You can eat so much, and not feel full until much, much later.... Which, I'm sure, is why they use those conveyer belt thingies: my eyes are always bigger than my stomach! Anyhow, Moshi Moshi is in a similar mold to Yo Sushi: conveyer belts supplying hungry patrons with plates of varying hues and designs. Moshi Moshi, however, also provides you with menus and expects you to order as well, allowing you to tailor your dining experience much more to your own likes and wants. While a little more expensive than Yo Sushi, Moshi Moshi is a much more upmarket, and definitely worth the slight price increase. Moshi Moshi dominates Bartholomew Square in Brighton, it's boxy rectangular shape another one of Brighton's architectural visiting points. While the outside is all glass and shine, the inside looks very much like a traditional restaurant, which is all the better to sit and enjoy the excellent sushi in. Yo Sushi enthusiasts beware: the prices are a step steeper, and you can rack up quite a bill relatively quickly on just the sushi plates. Here, they work better as an addition to a larger main meal, which are excellent value for money and very well made, in style closer to the food offered in Wagamama's or Pompoko. A main, with two or three sushi dishes to wet your appetite and mix it up throughout the meal is a perfect evening meal. The choice of different sushi and mains is very detailed, and a lot of delicacies, such as eel and roe, are on offer as well as tried and tested favourites such as chicken katsu and salmon rolls. The staff are happy to advise, which is good for a first time customer, and the tables perfect for chilled out meals with groups of friends, unlike Yo Sushi's long bars and Wagamama's strange cafeteria-esque tables. Moshi Moshi seems to take all of the best elements of the big Japanese chains and make them their own, with little fuss or effort. The quality of the food is truly outstanding, and every element of the meal, restaurant and service is impeccable. You do pay a pretty penny for all of this quality, making Moshi Moshi the perfect expensive counterpart to Pompoko's cheap and cheerful service. Let the tourists have the Yo Sushis and the Wagamamas, go for Moshi Moshi for a truly fantastic dining experience! ADDENDUM: I forgot to add that Moshi Moshi has a brilliant outdoor seating area as well; another heavenly summer seating spot!

Yelp
Rightly so, Moshi Moshi is hugely popular in Brighton. I love the location above all else, it stands so out of place amongest business looking structures, just propped up like it were a temporary tent. I've only recently come round to Sushi, all as a result of a visit to Nobu (check me out). Having started sushi at such a high end place, I wondered how I would feel about eating here, but I was really happy with what I received. Price wise, you'll be looking at about £12 per person, which is more than the likes of Yo Sushi, but then the food sold here is infinitely better. I actually think this is one of the most interesting places to eat in Brighton, regardless of food ethnicity.

Yelp
I love this restaurant and have never had a bad meal there at all. The service is impeccable from the moment you walk through the door until you leave. The seating is really comfortable whether you're sitting at the bar or in one of the little boothes. The sushi is top quality and there's some lovely marinated tuna sashimi that you can grab off the conveyor belt. Also, the pork gyoza are extremely morish. There's some really nice tables to sit outside when the weathers good and this part of Brighton is usually quite quiet. Great place for a big group of people too as there's loads of space and the whole experience is really good fun.

Yelp
The sushi here is fine, given Brighton is a long way from Japan. But what's with the service, do they care if people return? I had booked a table for a celebratory meal. My (well presented) friends who arrived early waited to be greeted. It was fairly busy, and one friend decided to pop to the loo - he was then intercepted by a waiter and told 'toilets were for customers only'. Not that busy then, evidently. When I arrived I wondered why my friends were loitering uncomfortably by the entrance - but before I had the chance to find out what had happened, or even mention I had booked we were rushed to a table. Throughout the meal the service was ok but they were clearly busy and customer service was not a priority. In true British style we didn't bother leaving a tip; you still have to earn our gratuity here! As I said the food was fine, but I'll be checking out some other Sushi places before I return.

Yelp
I just cant fault this place. Great Sushi, value for money, lovely staff and authentic yet modern décor and atmosphere. Its just a shame they don't do their 'eat for free on your birthday' offer any more.

Yelp
This place is pretty popular, especially at weekends. So if you're planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night make sure you book. We didn't and so at half past seven, my boyfriend and I found ourselves crammed onto two high stools with just a slim counter in front of us for all our food and little elbow room. We had to wait a long time to get a drinks order and a long time to sort out the bill. However, it was clear they were short staffed that night. The upside is that you've also got the conveyor belt in front of you with tons of yummy dishes. The plates are colour coded so you can keep an eye on what you're spending. And they range from about £2 to around £5. Highly recommend the seared tuna, but saying that the whole selection is delicious.

Yelp
I have mix experience in this sushi restaurant, the servers are very very good ! However, the sushi & sashimi are not fresh , especially the sushi rice . The rice is very hard and taste like uncooked . The tuna , salmon also not fresh , 40 pounds for a sushi boat only total 20 pieces of sushi with sashimi. The price & food are not equal! Hire a Japanese chief pls!!

Yelp
A perfect restaurant to go for a special occasion and if you love Japanese food. I would also recommend going during a warm day, when the restaurant opens outdoors too.

Yelp
My absolute favourite for sushi in Brighton. Although Moshi Moshi is a small chain, each one has a slightly different menu to allow for sourcing the best, local, fresh ingredients. A tip .. register on their website to become a free member, you get a card. with this any plate is only £2.10 on Sundays to Thursdays all day, and Friday lunchtimes.

Yelp
Previous review: Gone down hill massively, used to brilliant, Update: following contact from moshi moshi on the Qype site, after my previous comment, I returned for meal with friends recently, I was hoping that I had been wrong previously, but although there was an air of improvement, the poor service and rudeness of staff again was still there, Maybe it's a training issue, I don't know, So better, but still room for improvement.

Yelp
Moshi Moshi is the one of the best JP's restaurant in Brighton. I have been there couple of times. Although the food there are a little bit expensive, but if you have membership card, you will get 50% discount on Monday and Tuesday. The service is also perfect, I recommend to go there. Also, I want to recommend to try the "bubble tea". I found there is a bubble tea cafe in Lanes. I think many people haven't tried bubble tea before. it is actually a sort of drink with either a base of green or black tea, infused with a variety of creamy extracts or natural fruit flavors. I tried once before, that's really tasty. So Just wanna recommend everyone to try this special tea. And you can also find it on Yelp.

Yelp
This restaurant is a great idea in a fab pavilion building just off the Lanes. But it was just very disappointing. The sushi was not freshly made, the hot items were lukewarm and the service was slow. And its quite pricey.

Yelp
Great service from a team of well mannered, helpful staff. Always able to get us a table at minimal (or no) notice. Love the conveyer and being able to see the food being prepared. The only downside is that I could sit there all day and build a huge bill... but that's just me! They catered for a group of 14 people when we turned up at no notice and managed to get everyone seated together!

Yelp
Great sushi, nice atmosphere - far less corporate-feeling than Yo down the road. These guys also do Tamari - which might be meaningless to anyone but coeliacs, raw fish aficionados and Japanese people, but which makes a HUGE difference to me. Prices are reasonable, staff are nice, outside area is lovely. My first choice for conveyor belt sushi in Brighton.

Yelp
ah, this place is great. Had the first conveyor belt outside London, and it seems so much more 'Japanese' than Yo Sushi, and their puddings are far better. Always popular, I've never seen it empty, so book if you want to be sure. Good veggie stuff, and helpful staff if you've never had sushi before

Yelp
great sushi if not a little expensive but then I always think sushi is overpriced for something so tiny. Go there if you love sushi.

Yelp
I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here a few weeks back. I love Moshi Moshi`s atmosphere, a modernist glass block, Japanese simplicity and stylish interior is unique. The conveyor belt adds to the experience, interesting dishes pass you by and they are good conversation starters. I ordered zensai appetisers which included salted soy beans, seafood tempura, liver and bacon on skewers-all were amazing and we got tips on how to eat the soy beans which stopped me embarrassing myself. My husband had pork belly main and I had Cornish steamed fish on rice. I can highly recommend both. It's refreshing to see a restaurant with a local English wine on its menu and a policy on using sustainable fish.
