"Mothership Meat Company is from the same people behind John Brown Smokehouse, and it has some similarly solid barbecue. We particularly like the ribs and the sausage, and the brisket is pretty decent as well. But our favorite thing about this place is the back patio. It’s huge, and once you order at a counter inside, you claim a table there and camp out for a bit. If you have some time to kill on a weekend afternoon and you don’t happen to live in Long Island City, it’s worth a trip." - Bryan Kim

"The restaurant has a unique space-themed decor with a fenced-in side yard, picnic tables, and colorful umbrellas. It offers a variety of meats served in a Texas barbecue style, sliced, weighed, and charged by the pound. The brisket was praised for being fatty and delicious. The venue has a prominent bar specializing in craft beer and is organized efficiently with a large staff. Despite some shortcomings like forgettable sides, the chili con carne stands out as exceptional. The sausage is made by a German sausage maker and is very plain tasting. The barbecue sauces offered are unique, with plum and mustard flavors. The restaurant is seen as a valuable addition to the neighborhood, particularly for its outdoor dining options." - Robert Sietsema

"Owner Josh Bowen of John Brown Smokehouse recently opened his second, long-awaited barbecue restaurant Mothership Meat Company at 27-20 40th Ave., on 28th Street, and it comes with a large outdoor beer garden and an Austin, Texas-inspired menu, LIC Post reports. Dishes at the new restaurant include all the classics like brisket, ribs, and prime rib, though Bowen says “unique” options like goat ribs, frog legs, and Hawaiian-style sausage will also appear." - Carla Vianna

If you've been to nearby John Brown's Smokehouse then you more or less know what to expect from the food (it's delicious and selection varies day-to-day). The space itself is really where Mothership sets itself apart from John Brown's. The interior is stylish but not huge, with a food counter, a handful of tables, and a bar, but the outside is pretty large with big picnic tables. "Summertime is best spent outdoors with a cold drink and several pounds of meat." Someone said that once probably.

Google
Good beer prices and a lovely outdoor area. However the food is super expensive (plate photoed cost over $30!) - I do wonder if they will survive charging this much. The location is out the way and it's always been pretty empty on the few times I've visited even one weekend evening. Contrast to John Brown's which is always packed and cheaper (and I'm afraid much better). Certainly will go back for the beer and patio but likely to eat elsewhere

Google
Sister restuarant to John Brown's. Food is delicious and cooked similarly, although the rubs are completely different. This is salt and pepper vs. Brown sugar. The ribs and brisket are terrific and the Mac and cheese is a bit creamier/cheesier than at JBs. Overall would come back. FYI - Things can add up quickly in terms of ordering by the pound.

Google
There's really nothing to not like about this place. I got the ribs and brisket (asked for the fatty cuts) and both were very good. Ribs were extremely tender and had a great smokey taste. Brisket looked a little dry but it definitely wasn't. Both sauces (plum and mustard based) were legit. Everyone including the person cutting and serving the meat, the cashier, the bartender and the bus boy were genuinely friendly. Outdoor patio is pretty big, and one of the employees mentioned they'll be adding cornhole, a few other games, and eventually live music. Definitely worth checking out!

Google
Great new BBQ spot in the LIC area. All the meats are pay by the pound. Pork belly was my favorite. Also had the brisket, ham, prime rib and sausage. The sausage is the only thing I wouldn’t get again. It was a bit on the drier side, not enough fat or something. Don’t forget to also try the plum sauce!

Jay Singh

Google
I liked it, wouldn't say it's the best BBQ I've had but it was the one open and closest in this part of the area. Not sure if I'd go again but they are trying so credit to them. We had all the meats!

Google
The people made a decent bbq spot, but seen like they have some growing pains. The short rib was good with nice and juicy may that fell off the bone.they only left you order by whole rib and they charge you for the bone. The brisket was dry and fatty, skip this all together.

Google
Great flavor. Slightly pricey relative to other BBQ spots. Would love to see a lunch special. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
John Brown Barbecue is a fantastic neighborhood spot that nails the barbecue experience. They offer a great variety of options, from chicken to ribs, all served with friendly, counter-style service. I tried both the chicken and ribs, and they were absolutely delicious--cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I appreciated the self-serve sauces on the side, making it easy to customize your meal. The setup is super convenient, with plenty of napkins and paper towel rolls at the ready--just what you need for a true barbecue feast! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with that classic barbecue vibe. They also have cocktails and soft drinks to round out the experience. I'm so glad I came and can't wait to return for another amazing meal. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Tried their burnt ends--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The hot BBQ sauce had just the right amount of spice, with a satisfying lingering heat that made every bite delicious. The atmosphere was great, and I'm definitely looking forward to going back for more of their mouthwatering BBQ. Highly recommend it! Only gripe was that service was a bit slow for being 1 of 3 customers at the time...

Yelp
This is my favorite bbq place in NY. I moved away from LIC several years ago, but frequently cross the east river just to eat here. Burnt ends, ribs, and sausage are amazing here. The cornbread is next level. Be careful eating outside on nice days, there are wasps that look like bees buzzing around (not the restaurant's fault).

Irene C.

Yelp
This place is pretty relaxed, you order at the counter and sit wherever you like, and there's a game playing on the TV in the corner. I've definitely had better ribs elsewhere as it was kind of dry, and the brisket was better but still not amazing. Had to douse both in BBQ sauce just to taste something honestly. The corn bread wasn't bad but it was more of a sweet mushy texture with actual corn (not what I'm used to) though the mac and cheese was pretty good. It comes with a free slice of bread though that doesn't add much to the meal. For the portion and pricing, I think there's better out there.

Yelp
Fk this place. They gave the delivery guy the wrong order. I call them and this dumb b*tch is telling me there's nothing they can do other than reimburse the cars. Where's the manager? Oh no manager, she left a half hour ago. Really?!! So there is not management on staff and there is no one there to fix this problem. I don't want the food that was delivered, I want the food that was fkn ordered. If it was my establishment I would have gotten in my car and done the right thing. You have one job. To hand the correct order to the correct delivery guy. Fk this place!!!!

Yelp
Very good bbq spot in LIC. The inside is all decked out in Chiefs football team gear so it's a perfect place if you're a chiefs fan! Friendly and efficient staff. The meat is good and cooked just right. My favorite sauce is the ghost pepper bbq sauce. It's not too spicy but gives it a nice kick. Very casual place- you place your order and pay before getting your food. This is a self serve place. Unlimited self serve fountain drinks. I would say they're a bit on the pricier side.

Yelp
Decided I was in the mood for some ribs. Searched around and came upon Jb's in Astoria. Determined it was a good choice. Order half rack of ribs, baked beans and Cole Slaw. First sittings: lots of tables around and a back room with lots more seating. Comfortable atmosphere with music playing in the background and not too loud. Perfect for a date. The service from order taking to busing on target. Friendly staff making you very welcome. Especially the young lady busing tables very helpful if you needed something. Honorable mention: unisex bathrooms very clean. Onto the main event. Ribs fall off the bone top shelf. Spicy sweet sauce. Perfect. Beans were good with bits of brisket filling. The coleslaw not so much. Supposed to be vinegar, non mayonnaise version. Not so good. Very little taste other than raw cabbage taste. Next time I'll make and cheese it as the second side. Overall worth the trip. I will go back.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and it was an okay find Pros: + The number one place to go if you're a Kansas City Chief's Fans + Amazing BBQ Sauce - They have three different kinds and the standard BBQ is my favorite. + Friendly service and staff Cons: - Difficult to find parking nearby - Skip the Mac & Cheese - Mine was bone dry and lacked so much flavor IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
We were staying at a hotel in Queens and decided to order barbecue via DoorDash. I looked up the reviews for this place on Yelp, and everything sounded great. And it was! I ordered the half slab, cornbread, and mac & cheese. My husband had a whole slab, his own mac & cheese, and we split the cornbread. Everything was delicious. The only thing that was difficult to eat in a hotel room was the cornbread, which crumbles as you take it out of its dish. But it was still delicious, and worth the effort!

Yelp
Neat corner restaurant with a big outdoor patio. Part of the outdoor is enclosed (they've got a tv hooked up for football games!). I do wish they had some heaters for the outdoor tables when it gets chillier. Feels like a waste of the space if it's too cold to eat outside. Be wary of coming when there's a Kansas City Chiefs game. It will be packed with fans watching the game! They are huge on the Kansas City Chiefs, with tons of decor all over. Service is great. It is counter service, so you order at the register and they ring a bell when food is ready. If it's not picked up for a few minutes, a waitress will bring it to your table. There is self serve fountain drinks, water, condiments and utensils. Pork ribs are perfectly fall off the bone tender. One of the best I've had in Queens, and I will make my way out here just for the ribs. The brisket and the burnt ends are flavorful and tender. Goes great with the bbq sauce and/or hot mustard (which add a boost in flavor) and the soft white bread (wonderfully soaks up the condiments!) The coleslaw is vinegar based. It's crisp, not overly vinegary or liquid-y. Good balance to the meat! The baked beans are cooked well. They have chunks of meat in them, which adds to its deliciousness! I've been here several times and they are consistently good. One of the best BBQ spots I've been to in Queens.

Yelp
John Brown BBQ is a solid barbecue spot in Long Island City. There is plenty of room to sit inside close to the counter where you order and everything is prepared or further back in another air conditioned room or outside under the umbrellas in a courtyard. You order and pay, then take a seat where a nice lady will bring your food on trays. She is bussing all the tables, so please tip her kindly. People here are friendly and do their best to meet demand. I have been here a few times and this time seemed appropriate to review. I visited on the third of July to beat the crowd, but they were nearly out of everything. This is legit quality barbecue and the patronage is a good indicator. So I ate a pork belly sandwich with their version of vinegary coleslaw and it was delicious. The wheat beer they have on tap was on point in this heat. I arrived early on the Fourth to pick up my order of a rack of ribs, a pound each of prime rib and burnt ends. I had the corn bread, coleslaw, greens and baked beans with the burnt ends as sides. The sides were all good, with the cornbread and baked beans as the standouts. The prime rib was the least impressive, but the ribs and burnt ends were on point. The burnt ends are so tender and the ribs will have you cleaning the bones. I wish the burnt ends were a little more burnt. They might be rushing them to meet demand. While at John Brown on the Fourth, I ate their Reuben sandwich with their pastrami. As good as the pork belly sandwich is, the Reuben here is the sleeper, but don't you sleep on it. I inhaled that pastrami Reuben! It comes with a peppery and spicy kick, but that pastrami is worthy of ordering by the multiple pounds. It's so good, that I would think it would freeze well if you wanted to have some on hand whenever you want to make a delicious sandwich at home. That pastrami is so tender and flavorful. The pastrami may be the best thing I have had at John Brown BBQ. NYC is demonstrating a gradually elevated barbecue scene and John Brown is right there at the top among a few others. Things are a little overpriced and the diminutive size of the large sides will have you question their value proposition the most. It is far from the best value among the five boroughs, but there is no denying John Brown BBQ's stature in the local barbecue genre that has not been getting its due. If you are from Kansas City or Texas, this will not likely wow you. However, the barbecue sauce is appropriately sweet and John Brown BBQ is very much worthy of four stars among the five boroughs. You should pay attention to the pastrami, which itself garners at least four and a half stars.

Yelp
I've actually been here a few other times, however much closer to their closing time. This past Saturday, we went at lunch time, and there was such a difference. I love prime rib, so I had to try the prime rib in addition to my normal order of the Brisket. The prime rib (1/3 lbs) was a good amount, juicy and tender. Loved the brisket and smoked wings. As usual? The Mac & cheese was perfect sharing size (large) and the cornbread was deconstructed, which I preferred....didnt need to put any extra butter on it. We'll be back! Lunch time is where it's at

Yelp
Location: Long island City, NY Service: Great service--very polite and attentive, also food was served quicker than i thought. Ambiance- Normal, cool and has some ig worthy vibe to it as well. Food- Rib tip (oh m g, so so good, flavorful and you'll never feel full haha thats how good it was) Burnt sides/tip- same with other bbq restos I tried but still tasty. Pastrame- my hubby likes it since he has more salty palate than mine haha. Mac and cheese- too soft pasta though cheesy with soft bread and well cooked fries. Over all 9/10. Will DEF come back for the rib tips.

Rob G.

Yelp
One the best BBQ spots in the NYC area! I had the burnt ends which were just as tasty as places in the South and Midwest. Great sauces selections to compliment the meat - I especially liked the spicy options. Service was excellent - the staff answered all my questions and my food was ready in a flash. Finally great location in LIC. I enjoyed eating on their patio on a sunny afternoon.

Mike S.

Yelp
It's 2024 and the Kansas City Chiefs have made it into the Superbowl (GO CHIEFS!). I will tell you the last place I will be on Superbowl Sunday is John Brown's - not because they don't have excellent BBQ, or I hate the KC Chiefs. It's because this place is going to be absolutely packed with screaming fans (Chiefs and Taylor Swift ones) since this is an outpost for ex-pat KC fans and I'm not into big crowds. But I am into delicious BBQ and this place is my NYC go to for KC style BBQ. When you arrive you order at counter then grab yourself a table, when the food is ready they will call your name. There are 3 seating sections - inside, covered outside and outside outside - You usually can find a seat (unless it is a KC game day) I love the brisket and burnt ends here. The pork ribs are fall off the bone tender. The baked beans are smokey with nice chunks of tender bbq meat in them. The meat comes with slices of white bread so you make an informal sandwich or sop up some left over bbq sauce and drippings. I always forget to order the cornbread. There are free refills of fountain soda and a good beer selection. There is usually a friendly woman cleaning off the tables or making sure you have everything you need. This spot is a low key hang with a pretty big lot in LIC. It is worth the trip for me whenever I get in the mood for some top notch BBQ.

Robert K.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick lunch today at John Brown BBQ and it did not disappoint. Burnt Ends were darn near perfect. I also had their slaw and greens. Both were good, but I prefer a creamier slaw, still they did great. I wanted to try their sausage, but they sold out. Once again, really good Burnt Ends and the place had a respectable line up for lunch. I'll be back!

Emily G.

Yelp
Fun place in LIC that makes you feel like you're not in New York once you enter the establishment. You order at the front, very quick, and someone calls your name shortly after once your food is done. There are tables in the front and a more private dining area in the back. A lot of TVs throughout to watch sports. I ordered the Philippe deluxe - a Pulled Pork sandwich with fries and swiss cheese. The swiss cheese complimented the pork very well. The sandwich was packed with meat, and so I even took some off the sandwich just to try the pork on its own. I also got a side of coleslaw, which was a more dry version than I'm used to (the Jewish deli version can have a ton of mayo lol), but I did really like the coleslaw. It was quite refreshing, and acted as a good balance for the meat. This place is fast, efficient, good service, and even better food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I work in the area for a year now and finally got to give this BBQ Joint a try.... This review is totally based on my three meat candy choices.... Burnt Ends; 5 Stars, Winer winer for me just perfect & needs no sauce; Next Visit 1 Lb for me please !!! Brisket; 3 Stars, love to see that beautiful smoke ring, good flavor with no sauce, If you love lean brisket this cut is for you; I tend to favor my briskets with just a lil more fat to it and a lil more juicier. Sausage; 3 Stars very good grind of meat with good spices and love the jalapeños inside; I foud the sausage to me to be a bit on the dry side because in my opinion it's a leaner sausage could use a lil more fat ... But What do I know ... Their BBQ Sauce; 2 stars, my one negative and disappointment especially that I needed and wanted to add BBQ Sauce to my brisket & sausage; The Flavor is bold at best, No sweetness, in my opinion needs a lil molasses, even grape jelly melted down into. It would add another note to it and a Dash of cayenne pepper, again what do I know? I'm just a professional foodie for life !! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, the menu board in my opinion could be a lil rough on the eyes but like I said the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable... They have a nice size eat in dining room very relaxed and comfy as you would expect a BBQ Joint to have; I noticed this restaurant was very clean & well kept; FYI, I had to take out my meal because I was working ... I will definitely be back to try their ribs along with a pound of their burnt ends. I would absolutely recommend this BBQ Joint to all my friends, family & co workers ... Still For Me The Champion of BBQ is Hometown Bar-B- Que in Red Hook, Brooklyn If ya don't know y'all never know !!! Thanks, Greg D.

Yelp
Great option for BBQ if you're in NYC. There's a good amount of space and service was fast and attentive. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful, and the brisket was surprisingly tender, comparable to brisket I've had in Texas. In terms of sides, the Mac and Cheese was a standout. Collard Greens were pretty standard. Good sauce options too. I'll definitely be coming back.

Brian R.

Yelp
Good service and solid food. Not a 10 but I would go back if I was I the area. Worthy of 4.5 stars on these two factors alone. The ambiance is off putting. Kansas City chiefs regalia everywhere.

David C.

Yelp
Love the Food!!! Love the ambience!!! I haven't been here since 2016 when I left New York.... I know I know inflation but $30 dollars for 1/3lb brunt ends, 6oz M&C and, 6oz Cornbread is a little harsh. I know the area has become more high end since they were first located closer to the water but again the prices are a little crazy. I would give five stars but the high price cost 2 stars. I will reconsider coming here again... sad but honest.

Bobby I.

Yelp
Came here from the original location and the taste is exactly the same. We had a party, so special ordered and everything was perfect. The Brisket was moist, Ribs perfectly cooked and Burnt Ends a hit. If your looking for some good barbeque, this place will definitely hit the SPOT. It's not Texas BBQ, but the rubs were spot on and cooked perfectly. Service impeccable. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth a try!

Eric W.

Yelp
Had some great ribs and Mac and cheese, not what I expected in New York. Would highly recommend stopping by.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
This BBQ was so good, especially the ribs. The meat was so soft and tender. The bbq was delicious and I enjoyed the corn bread. I didn't care too much for the Mac n cheese, it was ok. The restaurant was very cool, I loved the design behind it, walls filled with beautiful artwork/tagging. The lighting in there is perfect and the restaurant was very clean. The staff was very kind and attentive, also our large Togo order was ready quickly.

Dana H.

Yelp
The BBQ was a gamechanger. Before this, I had only tried BBQ one other time and I just didn't enjoy it. But the burnt ends and the pulled pork blew me away. The burnt ends, even after I took some left over home, and reheated it the next day, was still so juicy and tender, the pulled pork but into the brad and with some beans on top? Amazing! I absolutely loved their beans- it had a nice tomato base to it, and had so much flavor. The chicken was also very good- it had a nice spice to it and was wonderful, however I recommend eating it immediately. It's located in LIC, kind of tucked away. If it weren't for the fact that I was looking for it, I would have missed it completely. The service was also amazing. The waitress(?) was so nice and was so attentive. They also got the food out so fast, it was actually pretty amazing. It had a nice vibe to it as well. I totally recommend this place to anyone looking for some good bbq.

J D.

Yelp
Come here solely for the burnt ends! Sometimes may be good, sometimes may be shit¯\(ツ)/¯ I've been chasing the 1st phenomenal experience ever since.

Zack G.

Yelp
Hidden Kansas City themed BBQ spot with delicious food! It looks like it is abandoned from the outside, it is actually very spacious inside and they even have a fenced in patio It is counter-service and our food was prepared very quickly Have a bunch of different options of both meat and sides. I got the rib tips, fries, and Mac 'n Cheese. It was all very solid 3 BBQ sauce options. One classic, one vinegar, and one hot. I liked the vinegar one the best.

Julie E.

Yelp
Personally I don't believe you can go wrong with KC Chiefs memorabilia hanging. I am not a huge meat eater, in fact I may be called a part time vegetarian. The beef sandwich I had was nothing but velvety goodness. Sadly they were out of chicken but that's ok. The cornbread is some sort of heavenly mixture of yumness, I would have preferred the Mac and cheese be baked a little bit more but minor details I just like a burnt topping. The coleslaw is vinegar based. Fantastic place.

Rob P.

Yelp
Look at your receipt. Last few visits a " custom" charge of 1.50 to 2.50 is added to total.. Not the same cashier either Receipt wasn't given until I requested.. And after I added to tip jar too! Hmnnnn ....

Kann T.

Yelp
One of the better bbq I had in nyc. Their corn bread is amazing. The burnt ends is a must get as well as the corn bread. Their cocktail on tap is strong, you been warm. This place is pretty much self service but they make sure we have everything when they walk around the restaurant. It is very homey and well ventilated place. There is an outdoor section as well.

Jan P.

Yelp
Burnt ends. Full stop. The bEST I've had. Recently had small hard yucky ends and was nervous. But these are outrageous. Great bark. Soft and flavorful meat. Just perfect!!! Brisket was good but somehow light in color. Corn bread is more of a dessert. Yummy. Coke slaw is the vinegar kind not the mayo kind. Just sayin'. Collards were delicious and hot. Nice staff and really friendly lady helping clear and bringing sauce. Look no further for excellent bbq.

Samantha C.

Yelp
When you have a native from Kansas open up a BBQ joint in LIC...you have a beautiful thing! I've been craving some burnt ends for quite a bit and this spot definitely hit, well the spot. Went in with my cousin kind of late but the food was just as delicious as it probably would've been earlier during the day. My cousin and I usually split everything so here's the rundown of what we had. Burnt ends - ON POINT Rib tips - MY FAV THING OF THE DAY Hot link - wasn't really my thing but I could see how people like it, also a little on the dry side (but again we went a bit before closing) Cornbread - so good we took another order home with us Mac and cheese - loved this spin in a classic. They used penne pasta and some awesome seasoning that definitely kicked this traditional dish up a notch. Cole Slaw - was the one thing I didn't try because I was so full. It looked a bit on the vinegary side, which isn't usually my taste. This spot is super cool with tables inside and a back outdoor patio area. This spot is counter service which is a good change of pace as well. And the two gentlemen behind the counter were super nice and friendly. Shout out to the cook/guy who prepped our food as he was super fun to chat with. Now get me some more of those rib tips and cornbread.

Joy S.

Yelp
Came here with friends who've been raving about John Brown for YEARS. Let me put it this way: I forgot to take photos of my food. I had the pork belly, the baked beans, the Jackson salad (I know I know) the cornbread (!!!!!!!!) tasted someone's burnt ends, and shared half a sandwich. Baked beans are not my thing but these were great. The cornbread- well I got some to go. The Reuben- like sandwich was a pleasant surprise: STACKED and delicious. The mustard sauce was good on everything- I wanted a bottle of that stuff to take home. The person at the counter was helpful and friendly, and the other person who brings the order and busses tables was friendly and efficient- love to see it. As someone with family in Kansas City and who are Chief's fans I would love to bring them here for a taste of home in NYC. Overall a very laid back atmosphere, order your food and drinks at the counter and wait for it to be brought to you- no one rushed us and we sat and talked for a bit. Will def be back!

Alan C.

Yelp
Used to be 4.5 at least. Not sure what happened but food definitely is lacking vs 5 years ago.

Neil H.

Yelp
We were here last week for ribs, BBQ chicken, and the atmosphere. I thought they would be a little larger, more like a sports bar, but basically, you would be crammed together, and I would like to be here for football or soccer games. Their premises are that of an old industrial warehouse from the heyday of manufacturing in LIC. We loved the cornbread, and the BBQ chicken was on point. They are close to both the Astoria dining scene and the subway lines to Queens and Manhattan. Would I come back? The answer is yes!

Harry X.

Yelp
Convenient place for serviceable bbq if you're in the LIC area, but not much more than that. What I tried: Brisket- a little dry. Though they did not give me any fatty cuts, so maybe that would have been better. Pork belly- good, but this is a forgiving cut to cook after all. Had a celery taste to it, which I liked. Burnt ends- nice and fatty, but again a hard cut to screw up. Pork ribs- the best meat option imo. Tender with just the right amount of chew. I'd definitely get the ribs again, and maybe give their fatty brisket a chance next time?

Annie C.

Yelp
Kansas City style BBQ decked out in Chiefs decor. Casual serving style but NOT to be underestimated! Smoked ends were super tender and the pork belly might have been the most flavorful I've ever had. Coleslaw was refreshing and wonderfully not drenched in dressing. Mac & cheese and cornbread were also fire.

Jason F.

Yelp
Some of the best burnt ends I ever had. The pastrami is a hit as well. Service was great. Once inside it didn't even feel like I was in queens. Reminds of a little down home bbq joint from the south.

Kent M.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to this place after reading the reviews. Perhaps I caught them on a bad night, but I was sadly disappointed. I ordered the rib tips and brisket. The rib tips were so dry I had a hard time getting them down the hatch. They had good flavor, but even loaded with sauce they were tough to eat. The brisket was mediocre, at best. I suck at making brisket and would take mine over what I experienced today. Any day. I also got a side of Mac and Cheese as well as cornbread. Both of which were really good. Equally as good is the sauce; sweet with a bit of a bite. Will I walk to this place again in the rain and snow? Meh.... Probably not.

Sean N.

Yelp
4 stars is for the meat. If you need a BBQ fix the pork ribs and pulled pork are divine. Only issue I had was with the sides. At $6 a pop they need to be hitting for me, but I guess it's KC style of cooking. I'm not a big fan of vinegar-based Cole slaw, so that was a loss and I like my baked beans sweet, ketchup, brown sugar and bacon-based. I will definitely be back, but I will only be getting meat and handling my own sides at home.

Yelp
Place is across the street from my job. I've been working here almost two years and only just went in this week. Food: ordered the brisket sandwich and the cornbread. Corn bread was different but amazing! I am not a meat person but the brisket sandwich had a great flavor. I don't love the texture of fatty parts of meat and there was a lot in there but the parts that were cooked meat were delicious. Price: decent price for quality and quantity of food. Service: the order was prepared very fast. I went with a group of 3 at around 12pm and we probably waited a little over 5 minutes for the food. Person at counter was patient with my questions about different types of meat options. Ambiance: i am actually upset that this place looked closed or I would have tried it a long time ago. There is picnic table style indoor seating. Not glamorous but welcoming.

Yelp
This place is pretty solid for NY bbq. There's some stuff they do really well and others that could probably be improved (as a staunch bbq critic). The burnt ends are delicious, chicken is solid, pulled pork is very tasty and not too fatty, ribs were good, and my buddy enjoyed his pork belly. The pastrami and brisket were a little dry to be honest, but had good flavor. The cornbread is amazing! The Mac and cheese was just ok, felt like something was missing but not awful by any means. Could probably do without the rib tips next time (more bone than meat on it). The bbq sauce is also pretty good, will def want to see about a spicy bbq next time if they have it. Overall, this is probably one of the better spots for bbq in Queens/NY. Would come back as it's walking distance from me.

Yelp
While spectating the NYC Marathon, my friend was reminiscing about John Brown BBQ during his LIC days. Hence, we made the trip to visit John Brown while in the area while with our friends. I LOVED the burnt ends & fries. It was the snack we needed to fuel our day as we chased our friends running the race throughout the city.

Yelp
I picked up my order for take out. The food was ready very quickly. The order included 1/2 chicken, burnt ends, baked beans, and corn bread. All were wonderful. The chicken was falling off the bone and the burnt ends were juicy and fell apart easily. Good smoke flavor. All really delicious. Definitely trying again.

Yelp
***Delicious, Quick service, Lots of seating*** The portions are surprisingly large and I would recommend sharing if you're eating with someone. There's a lot of selections for food and drinks. Lots of seating available.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Delicious local bbq spot in LIC with a Kansas City craze. Recently tried their burnt ends, their ribs and some fries. The burnt ends were tender and moist while the ribs were perfectly charred and flavorful. I also really enjoyed their spicy mustard dipping sauce. I will be back (but maybe not when a game is on). Sat next to some very rude and loud hipsters. Made the meal a bit less enjoyable.

Yelp
We were in the area and decides to eat here, but the smell in this place was a bit off. I was hoping to salivate and be excited to eat some delicious meats, but instead I became hesitant. We ordered one third of pulled pork, ribs and brisket. They cooked it long and well because it was soft to eat. The sauces were needed or else it was bland except for the ribs. The cole slaw and the mac and cheese were okay. There are plenty of seats and tables with restrooms (indoor and outdoor dining). This is a great place for those who enjoy meats. I personally wouldn't come back here. Ended up with a tummy ache after. :(

Yelp
I went to this place on a Saturday night and it was amazing the ambiance. The staff super friendly and the menu pretty straight forward. I shared my food but it was more than enough for two people. Love their beer menu. I had a beer with my food and it pair well. Will be back to try more stuff. Also, the service is pretty fast so I didn't wait long in getting the food. The food taste delicious and fresh.

Yelp
DELICIOUS. I traveled from NJ to come here, it's Kansas City BBQ right in Queens and I LOVED it. I had traveled to KC recently to see Bruce Springsteen on tour (WOOO!) and the food there was disappointing BUT this Kansas City themed spot made up for all of that AND more. Very good. I am VERY happy. The service was fast and the girl at the register was very polite. There's a woman constantly cleaning the tables and taking dirty trays away, she was very sweet and had a positive and happy demeanor. The bathrooms were clean and the place is nice and big, plenty of tables.
