I went to Mothership directly from their sister restaurant Kindred. Both of them have quirky, moody vibes, but Mothership was more my jam. And IMHO way better overall. The food that we tried was inventive, tasty, and the combinations were alien to us (see what I did there). The food and drinks had an Asian flair. The whole place is set up like you're inside a spaceship or hanging out in a galaxy far, far away. You can watch the ceiling and see shooting stars, the bathroom is a must visit; It's like you're on the Death Star. You have to be 21 to get in, I believe. It's also fully vegan, which is out of this world!! I went with my husband and our two friends, all of which were not vegan but they enjoyed everything just the same as I did. We each got a drink. Things were priced pretty good. I really wish they would've had a menu for sale, as a keepsake and I wish they would've served the drinks in the cups shown in the pictures (that are for sale). The service was great. There is a hidden drink on the menu that creates an immersive experience; I can't remember the drink name, but I'm sure if you ask a server, they would know which one I'm talking about. It's a big drink and a little bit more pricey but worth it. I guess my favorite thing was the squash donuts (I forgot to take a photo of), and the potato dish. We also tried the pancakes which were okay but the other two dishes were superior. Noise level was good. It was easy to have conversations. If I ever go back to San Diego, I will definitely have Mothership on my must revisit list.
