Where to Find Diwali Celebrations and Restaurant Specials Around the Twin Cities - Eater Twin Cities

"Chef Jyotiee Kistner is bringing back her Diwali thali specials this year in 'mini' form, with two or three fewer dishes compared to last year’s menu. The menu features Marathi dishes such as bright tomato saar, vegetable pulav, kothimbir vadi, beet root koshimbir, served with puri and saffron-infused shrikhand." - Justine Jones

The 15 Best Indian and South Asian Restaurants in the Twin Cities

"Specializing in the Marathi cuisine of central-western India (including Mumbai), the contemporary, casual dining room of Muddy Tiger drills down into the snacky worlds of chaat and street food, serving up dishes with considerable textural complexity and brightness of flavor. The menu is focused, with a small section of chaat and street food augmented by a handful of rice bowls and wraps. The restaurant’s kheema pav (spiced ground lamb served on dinner rolls, loose meat sandwich-style) is remarkably rich and satisfying. A recent special vegetarian thali meal featured a wide variety of flavors and textures, including pillowy puri tailor-made for stuffing." - James Norton, Justine Jones

Google
The best Indian Street food in the metro. Great variety. Easy sharable items. A must try. If you can't make it to the bistro, find their food truck around the city.

This place is pretty great. The kitchen is turning out some exceptional food. Not to be missed! So, the hours are tough. They are closed sometimes when advertised to be open. Please give them some grace. They are clearly working on how to run a successful business. This food though, is unique and delicious. I'm going to make an effort to go out of my way to support this place. I want to see them do well. I want to be able to continue to eat this amazing food!! Please, check them out. It is going to take some effort to make sure they stay in the community. Just look at the pictures. It tastes even better than it looks. The menu is far more complex than just street food. They are underselling themselves a bit, I think. The street food items are killer, but the curries are next level.

We were longing to have chaat food and based on the reviews, we were pretty excited to eat here. Unfortunately, the taste of the food items were mediocre at best. We ordered 4 items from the menu and not a single one tasted as expected. As an example, the bhel poori tasted heavy of mint and very little of tamarind flavor and was somewhat soggy.

Great food and ambience. story of the owner is pretty cool. Very pricey for the quantity but great chaat food in Minneapolis. New items get added every 2 weeks. Diwali festival has special thali which was decent taste. Ragda pattice was good but ragda was too big and peas gravy was less.

Great service for a casual eatery. First time having pani puri and was explained how to eat the snack - they were delicious and crispy! The spicy sauce for them was on the mild side. I have a sweet tooth so the sweet sauce was my favorite. Also had a chicken rice bowl and the meat was very tender with a nice fresh shredded veggie salad on the top. I don't live anywhere near this restaurant but was at the Walker Sculpture Garden Art Fair and the Muddy Tigger food truck was sold out of several items by early afternoon so drove to the actual restaurant.

Must try if you like Indian street food restaurant specializing in authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. The pav bhaji and vada pav were exceptionally delicious, truly capturing the essence of Mumbai's bustling streets. Highly recommend for a genuine taste of Maharashtra!

Been here twice and enjoyed it both times! The frankies really hit the spot for a quick and filling meal, the curry is great for a meal and a half. Plan to make this part of my regular rotation!

I went to the food truck and so this review is based on that. The experience at the restaurant might be different. Will review that again. As far as this goes, the items were limited. The food was good quality and tasted really nice. Had the vada pav and the chilli paneer rice bowl. Both were really good. However, portion sizes are not great at all for the price. Definitely on the expensive side. If you want quality street food and are okay with paying some extra dollars, this is a good choice.

Yelp
Was excited to try their retail space after a good experience with the food truck. Everything was wonderful, fresh and hot! Loved the Pau Bhaji the best! Looking forward to coming again and trying more!

Yelp
First western India regional cuisine in MN! Must go for maharashtrian food lovers. Has some times tested favorites, kothambir wadi, vada pav, pav bhaji, misal pav and sabudana vada. Everything was freshly prepared with authentic flavors. Kudos to the the team of Muddy Tiger to pay homage to their traditional cuisine.

Yelp
Great food. Appreciate clearly marked veg items. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Very clean dining area. I first was introduced to this great food at the 2023 veg fest.

Yelp
We went to this place on a friends recommendation, and the food we tried was really tasty. It was a small place with limited menu but were good. It's a self service place and no much of an ambiance. We tried their Bhel puri, SPDP, Pav Bhaji and Misal Pav and everything were tasting great.

Yelp
i tried muddy tiger at the art festival today and wow..!!!! i tried their tawa chicken taco and i was not mad at paying $5 for it. 100% worth every cent. the indian salad with the pickled onions brought the exact right amount of freshness to the mild heat of the chicken which just melted in your mouth. i will definitely be coming to their physical location to try out more of their menu items. AMAZING!

Yelp
You literally can't get this food anywhere else so you will be back! Dont come for the butter chicken because they don't have it. Come here to experience something delicious and different! The owners are fun to chat with and very helpful.

Yelp
The dhai puri was so yummy and also the falooda is a delicious dessert but too sweet at bottom. The pau bhaji was nothing special. We will have come back and try the other items. Too bad they have limited hours and only open some days of the week. They will only take orders put in by 8 pm.

Yelp
Food was amazing! We had the poha, pav bhaji and the pani puri chaat. I haven't had good Indian street food since moving to Minneapolis and this place definitely hit the spot.

Yelp
Finally tried Muddy Tiger after driving by so many times and now wish I'd gone sooner! I tried three things: Rugda Pattice, Keema Pav and the Peri Peri Chicken Frankie. To Muddy Tiger's credit their authenticity in terms of their Indian flavors are 100% and the Keema Pav was to die for, the Rugda Pattice was a veggie delight with the perfect mix of sweet, salty and spicy flavors, and the Frankie was absolutely stuffed with chicken albeit the least flavorful/spicy of the items I tried. The Keema Frankie will be the next thing I try here along with some of the other Chaat. Considering how good the food is, I'm surprised to see so few reviews here and I'm wondering if the menu is so authentic that our fellow non-Indian Yelpers have no idea what this place is about! It's not your typical Naan, Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer place but more street-foodie, quick eats. The menu is a vegetarian dream if you're tired of your cold salads and bland pasta dishes - and the flavors/spice/heat is a perfect antidote to winter! I'd highly recommend trying out a few dishes and getting a taste of Marathi street food!

Yelp
Tried the Muddy Tiger food truck at the St. Paul food truck festival since they had an item entered in the Veg Fest contest (Vada Pav). It's actually the only thing I ordered and my first time trying Vada Pav, it was pretty good! Lots of flavor. Soft potatoe-y texture. Deep-fried. What's not to like? Friendly staff too!

Yelp
Great Food! Great Service! Do yourself a favor and go get ya some Indian street food!

Yelp
I love this local restaurant and they also have a food truck that goes to a few breweries. Family owned and excellent service. The food is to die for.
