Where To Go In And Around Mérida, Mexico

"A lovely yellow-walled courtyard in which to sip cocktails made table-side—think mezcal with kiwi and pineapple—and peruse a menu of traditional Yucatec fare. Try salbutes (tostadas) with octopus; brazo de reina (queen's roll, a corn tamale made of chaya, filled with hardboiled egg and pumpkin seed, steamed and topped with tomato sauce); and, with Lebanese influence, kibbeh—here with meat or vegetarian." - Sophie Friedman

The place is incredibly pretty and food isn’t as at all, but it’s not incredibly either. It is still a must go if you’re in Merida. A lot of traditional options and the service is great. You can get a good reference of what your experience in Merida will be like, by having food here on the first day of your trip.

A very nice establishment. Service is outstanding, English is limited. 4700 pesos for 7 of us so not too bad, but pricy for Mérida. Food was good but there is definitely better.

Food was good. But waiters need education if you want to advertise as your self as "restaurant of gastronomy". They are keep watching tables from behind of customer and keep waiting until they find an empty dish. This felt like very uncomfortable, and someone was keep watching me during my whole meal. Some of waiters were talking in the middle of tables. I understand they can have a rest but if you have nothing to do, just go back to your position and talk there. I couldn't focus on my meal during my whole dining. And even I was eating, waiters came to me and asked me if I want to remove those dishes bloody 4 times! Did they want me to leave as soon as possible? Idk, services of this place is almost same level of taquerias outside. I'll not come back here again.

If you want to try a wide variety of traditional Yucatecan dishes, this is a must-visit spot. The food here feels more high-quality and healthier compared to similar dishes at the market. Beyond the food, you can also watch how tortillas and *cochinita pibil* are made by hand in the backyard, which makes it a great place for an authentic experience. The staff are friendly, and the space itself is beautiful. If a friend were visiting Yucatán, this is definitely a place I'd want to take them to.

What a Gem! By far the best restaurant we have come across in our Mexico travels. The food was excellent and the restraunt was amazingl with a beautiful large courtyard and even an air conditioned dining area as well. The staff were very friendly and our waitress spoke English. She was able to understand any adjustments we needed with our meals.

Everything was amazing and I would even say that this restaurant has the potential to be Michelle recommended. The dishes were beautiful and the tasty. The tortillas chips could use some more love however. The servers explained the dishes in detail and were fast.

Unfortunately, the food is not to my liking. I was recommended Cochinita pibil enterrada but it’s served cold (plate was hot but meat was cold) too salty, and only lean meat was used (maybe it could be the traditional way but it was what made it too tough to chew). Service wasn’t exceptional, I was seated right in the center of the court yard but it’s hard to get the attention of the staff. Once I get hold of them, they’re nice.

This is not so much a museum, as an excellent restaurant, with a shop and display. The museum of Yucataca Is Gastronomy, is an excellent restaurant with typical Yucatan dishes that you will not find anywhere else. We found that the food was excellent, and the portions were very large. I made an entire meal of the shrimp appetizer, while my companions ate the negro relleno, pibil, a tasty Yucatan tamale, and other dishes. The food was good, and note that the prices match the quality of the food. Afterwards we hit the store / museum. It talks about different ingredients, how food is prepared, and they have artifacts from the time. The restaurant is worth visiting for the food!
