18 Places to Eat and Drink in Old Town Fort Collins | Eater Denver

"At this fast-casual favorite, slightly south of Old Town, lunch is as simple as choosing your meat and choosing your heat. Included in the meal is a classic Southern side like coleslaw or potato salad as well as a sauce for dipping. Bonus points go to the full bar and weekend brunch menu." - Josie Sexton

Google
So nice to find a place to get gluten free chicken fingers! So delicious and nice to have choices in spice flavors. They also have amazing sweet potato fries.

Heather Julian

Google
Look how amazing this salad is and the chicken tenders can be made gluten-free! You can feel the love coming off the salad from whoever made it.

David Striker

Google
The chicken strips and sauce was good. We got the spicy sauce and it was just right.

Kristen Long

Google
I've loved Music City for a while, as a gluten free gal it's AMAZING to be able to have chicken tenders that aren't too bland! I typically get the southern style and often get it to go for work while I'm in town. Thanks for thinking of us gf peeps :)

Miriam Arensberg

Google
Fun chicken restaurant. There's something for everyone here. I especially liked the potato salad.

Todd Mendez

Google
Nice bar/grill atmosphere! Food was good and tasty! Green chili chicken was just the right amount of flavor and spice! The regular tenders are very tasty as well

Google
We decided to doordash to our hotel room due to music city hot chicken being highly recommended, however I had to immediately throw the meals away and request my money back due to the chicken itself being inedible and woody. Cheap chicken grown to increase meat production fast to offset costs is fine, but you need to marinate the chicken prior to cooking to avoid the woody texture.

Google
A great place if you're looking for some legitimately spicy chicken...The flammable solid level is impressively spicy. The mac n cheese is excellent, tastes like it was made with chile con queso... along with the rest of their sides! Tons of parking, the prices are reasonable and service is pretty good (be VERY clear when ordering an alcoholic drink at the cashier). In addition, they are very sticker-friendly, and openly LGBT+ inclusive, always appreciated!

Yelp
Amooooooo Food delicious Music good And good service too, Nashville hot chicken is so good and MAC N CHZZZZZ

Yelp
We've been coming to Music City for years and it's recently gotten too far out of our price range. $20 for a 4 piece tempeh plate with fries is unreasonable- especially when the tempeh pieces are always super thin and bland recently. Fries and sauce used to come with the tempeh plate but now you'll have to pay $2.25 for a small side of fries that are tasteless and $.75 per sauce- because even the sauce no longer comes with these plates anymore. We've seen these prices skyrocket in the last year or so and for what you get, it's definitely no longer worth it.

Yelp
As an update 3 years later, things have unfortunately gone downhill. Service up front is usually apathetic, and the food seems to take pretty long even with no real "rush" in the restaurant. Maybe getting dominated by online orders? Either way, the chicken seems to be a lot less spicy than in years past, and changing the recipe for the beans was a total curveball on our last trip. Overall, it's still a good option, but prices are inflated now and the service isn't what it used to be. Maybe it's time to get back to the roots a little bit...

Yelp
Best fried chicken in town. The hot chicken sandwich is what my family loves but I just get the quarter fried chicken and it is exceptional. Good sweet potato fries and waffles pretty good too.

Yelp
Ambiance: great for a group and chill place to get good food! Not really a 1st date place maybe 3-4 dates in lol because you will get messy! Service: great! It was quick! You order at the counter and you get a buzzer when your food is ready for pick up! Food: Fantastic! The chicken is crispy, juicy, tender, flavorful, and believe it or not it wasn't too greasy! The Nashville hot was spicy and seasoned well. Not salty. The white hot chicken was perfect! The spice level was perfect for me. But be warned it is spicy with consensus from the table lol. It was a nice mild burn for me while others tried mine and was sweating and coughing. Would highly recommend coming here!

Yelp
This place was hoppin on a weekday during lunch hour. We ordered the tenders - my teenager got medium spice but told me he wished he had gone even hotter. I went honey mustard (no spice for me thank you) - 3 pieces of chicken was more than enough for me. Honestly, I should have been cut off at 2. Music was outrageously loud but somehow fit the vibe. Just a cool place to great a filling meal.

Yelp
Excellent chicken, good selection of sides and beverages, fun ambiance for a night out in Fort Collins.

Yelp
Good flavor and not too much breading which is nice. Tenders a decent size and a wide variety of sauces and sides. Potato salad wasn't anything crazy but the fries were an interesting shape

Yelp
I tried both the hind chicken quarter and the catfish, delicious! The sauce I had was remoulade, very tasty. Staff was friendly and had tunes playing that I liked. Very clean!

Yelp
Holy shit hella Fort Collins. U know me I always look for food spots on the road and thank god this place was only a 8 min walk from the hotel. This place has an awesome vibe. Good music good staff good decor what else could I ask for? I ordered the chicken sandwich (hot level) with a side of fries with ranch and fireball syrup as my sauces. As you can see it is picture perfect. Glistening fries in a cool twisty shape. Two pieces of chicken with a spicy slaw. The chicken was juicy, crunchy and flavorful. The fries were crispy and not soggy at all. They had nice pieces of salt as well instead of a finer salt. They had home made ranch I believe and I'm usually not all for homemade stuff but this was very tasty! The maple fireball syrup was good taste-wise but I wish the consistency was a bit thicker instead of so runny. I poured it on top of the chicken and it made for a good combo of sweet/spicy. Huge props to this place. I hope we stay here next season so I can come back. My friend ordered the mac n cheese and it was solid. Wanna try the chicken and waffles and a number of other sauces. 10/10

Yelp
Pretty good. Service was great. Food was takeout this time and I think it would have been much better if I had eaten there.

Yelp
Nashville Hot chicken season is fantastic. Used to go here every week. Highly recommend.

Yelp
You want to eat some BOMB chicken? I was in a certain mood, no messing around just straight to it. My buddies and I wanted good chicken and this was the recommendation, so we took it. BOOM! Some BOMB chicken, and honestly the sweet potatoes fries were to die for (not literally but yes very good). I ate them and then kept eating them and then wanted more and kept eating them until I couldn't anymore because I had no on my plate. That is a sign of good food. My cousin is from the area and he took us here. He PAID for our meal, ALL OF IT. I am always very appreciative of a free meal and also very appreciative of him he is a great cousin to me and I am really happy to spend some time with him this week. He is usually funny but sometimes we mess with each other and wrestle which gets crazy. Regardless of that, at least he took me to Music City Hot Chicken. I honestly don't even remember what Music was being played, and I still loved the food. Have I eaten BOMB chicken? You tell me :)

Yelp
We stumbled across Music City because it was close to our hotel (Hilton). You order first and there's so many options! But don't be overwhelmed; it really seems like any choice you make will be a good one. I loooove spice but i also love green chili, so I got the chicken sandwich with green chili flavor. It's second to lowest on their spice levels and it is accurate. I could've have had more heat but the green Chile flavor was nice and sweet but not overpowering. My friend got the Nashville hot (the waitress recommend) and she said it was the perfect spice to where you want to keep eating it but it's not killing you. Their house sauce on the sandwich is really good too. Ask them what's in it..I forgot, but it's not a usual mayo/ketchup that's for sure. They give you a lot of whatever side you get. I got the sweet potato fries and they were perfectly warm, crisp and salty. I dipped them in their ranch and it was so good! The vibe is casual and seat yourself. I saw several people coworking and they have a bar to sit at as well. I bet this place is hopping in the evening!

Yelp
Staying at a nearby hotel and this was close. Takeout order of whitefish cake on salad greens with a side of sweet potato fries - all was so salty that it was inedible. Fish cake breading was so dark brown as to be burnt tasting. Staff was rude at pickup. Don't waste your time or money here. There is much, much better food in Fort Collins.

Nikolas C.

Yelp
The food is always great but the last couple times I've been their i ve been kinda shocked by the folks taking my order as their ways giving me some slight attitude and its very noticeable to not only me but I other people who i have gone their with that their attitude changes with what kinda tip u give them. I don't know but i just been hoping that when I walk in there I don't need a smile or any fake emotions but i want to be treated with some respect i dont know if its targeted or just because i choose the 18% tip and not the 20%

Gio M.

Yelp
Food is mediocre. The people Didn't make Me feel like I was at home. I should've been made feel at home but the clique is annoying. Get real!!! Fuck off. Employ better people. Get people That don't drink so much at your bar and stop serving people!! I've worked here and it used to be better.. make it good again! Come here if you want shitty service!! Cockroaches are everywhere! Don't eat here
google avatar

Yelp
Rolling through on summer vacation and our rafting guide recommended this place and we were so glad he did. Very relaxed vibe with bar seating, booths and tables. Greeted with a smile and the pricing was very reasonable for the economy we are in. The food was ready in a better than expected timeframe and after eating, if it would have taken a little longer it would be worth the wait.

Yelp
Holy moly their chicken pot pie is amazing. Best flavor in town. Suck it G&B you can't touch this.

Yelp
Tried Music City for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. Cashier was real friendly which was a good start to our meal. The food was great. Their chicken is obviously amazing, but I also really loved their mac n cheese with little red peppers in them. Restaurant itself was super clean, but also had fun art and walls filled with stickers which was cool. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town visiting my sister.

Yelp
Music City Hot Chicken? I'm in! This is a walk up and order establishment and they execute it so well. Once we ordered we took a small block so the servers would know what table to go to. Our food was out within 5 minutes which surprised me, but I love a fast casual restaurant. My sister and I both ordered the breast quarter with one side and one sauce for $10.50. It's not a bad price point, but I thought the size of the chicken would be a little bigger. Anyways, the food is quite good. The chicken was moist and the breading was crisp and thin with good flavor. For sides, we went with the fries and mac and cheese. I loved the fries as they were seasoned well and had a unique shape. The mac and cheese was decent with a southern twist. Quick. Casual. Good music. Good food. What more can ya want?

Yelp
This place is so fun! We ordered a couple of tenders, each with a different flavor, and sat down at a fully-themed table for a brief wait. The texture and temperature of the chicken was perfect--and with the variety of flavors, you can choose whichever tasty one suits your mood. Also, definitely get the mac'n'cheese. It may be my favorite EVER.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Really good chicken. I love spicy stuff. When I go to the local grocery store, I try to pick up one new bottle of hot sauce pretty often. With that in mind, I don't think Music City's chicken is "HOT" but actually more on the "flavorful" side, with a kick and delicious taste. The restaurant's environment is as kicked-back as it gets. Being located close to a university, that makes sense. A great place to get some good chicken with a chill vibe.
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
Wow! That Jerk chicken club sandwich that I just inhaled was FIRE! I totally love this place. They even have a locals bulletin board. Friendly. Good jams. Josh is dope! You should eat here.
google avatar

Anushka M.

Yelp
Definitely the best fried chicken in the area! Music City is always a fun vibe with delicious food. The spice levels are seriously hot. I usually order Nashville hot which isn't the spiciest it gets, but enough to taste the spice and still enjoy the flavors. Their Mac and cheese is also amazing, definitely my favorite side! So creamy and cheesy I love it. We usually stop here quite often and it's always busy. Employees are super fun and helpful. With Covid they were doing takeout only for a while so not sure if they've opened dine in again.

Molly R.

Yelp
I love this place! It's an awesome spot with tasty food that comes in all levels of spicy, chill vibe, and friendly staff. Perfect place for a casual meal with great food!

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I visit Fort Collins every other weekend and always drag mg boyfriend here to eat. The chicken. Ranch. Sweet potato fries. and everything is. Chef kiss. I am slightly Disappointed to see prices go up for simple things like asking for white meat instead of dark (white meat used to be standard but now cost an extra price) it is slightly reasonable because I know dark meat costs less. But I will spend that money in order to have a delicious meal. It's just THAT GOOD. Only critic is that the spicy level is all over the board depending on who is on the kitchen. Nashville hot has had me please but not fully satisfied with spicy level and then the next day I could be happy crying from the spicy. But despite that. The few cons are very very outshined by the good. This company has a lifelong fan.

Yelp
Very very happy with my lunch! Best chicken sando I've had in forever! The food was fantastic, and love the atmosphere. They have an open bar, that was so nice to enjoy with a cold beer. The staff was very friendly and gave tons of great recommendations.

Colin H.

Yelp
Look the food was fantastic, honestly the best hot chicken I've ever had. It just took forever to get our food as they were slammed. Cool restaurant and I bet if you choose a better time to get some it'll work for you but we had to wait an hour for a really simple order.

Jacob A.

Yelp
Great food, but the prices are too high for what you get in a meal - specifically their sides are portioned poorly.

Heather G.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in all of FoCo. Been going here for years. Great chicken, cool vibes, love this place.
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
Try it all! Best hot chicken I've ever had! I've traveled all over Tennessee and other southern states. This is better than anything I've tried outside of Colorado. The hottest seasoning is incredibly hot though. Do not underestimate the hottest option. Nice, friendly staff too and good local beer selections.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay...the place is growing on me. I don't know what it is, but each time I get chicken here I seem to enjoy it a little bit more. The service has been better in the last few visits so I can't fault them on that front. When you order your dipping sauce, be aware that they have a ranch option and a "franch" option. Franch is NOT the same as ranch! On my last visit, I was thinking that I wanted to make sure I did not order franch, and then I said "franch" when he asked me what sauce I wanted. I then had to correct myself in an embarrassing way make it right. The cashier thought it was hilarious, so I was happy to entertain. Also...I finally noticed all the skateboards on the ceiling at the bar - nice touch.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for something to crave... check this place out. Anytime I'm in foco you better bet this is my stop! Love love love the chicken tenders. Hubby gets them GF (hallelujah for gf fried chicken). I like to get all three tenders a different flavor because that's just how I role. Good beer, lively atmosphere, great service.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Husband liked the chicken. I went for the tempeh but couldn't finish it. First few bites were ok but it just had a weird texture and the breading aftertaste annoyed me. I should have tried their cauliflower. Their fries were really good! I realize this is a chicken place and appreciate a veg option, but there are so many meat alternatives and even tofu would have probably worked better (maybe I just hate tempeh?). I ordered my daughter a kids Mac and Cheese and they brought out a tiny side dish. They fixed the issue after I noticed (in to go bag), but I even confirmed with the guy as I ordered it, but it ended up on the ticket wrong. Mac and Cheese was pretty spicy for kids.
google avatar

Yelp
Always a hot time at music city. Though I typically opt for take out!!! This is the only fried chicken that still stays crispy after making it back to the house. Amazing flavors. I love the waffles and sweet potato fries as sides. House sauce, fireball maple syrup, and honey butter are a must!
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
The ambiance is for younger people as the sound system made conversation difficult. I may have misor the green Chile chicken but it was a tad dry and hard to eat.

Yelp
Music City is one of those places that is ALWAYS packed with people! With this nation wide shut-down, I was excited to hear that they're still offering takeout. We placed our order over the phone (they have an app if you're not a phone person) and picked up our meals to-go ten minutes later. The chicken here is ridiculously delicious! Always tender and the seasoning is something sent straight down from heaven - spicy and sweet with a perfect crunch. My standard order is the two piece tender, one Nashville hot and one green chili with a side of mac 'n cheese and baconnaise (trust me, if you like bacon, you'll love it). Plus, normally, a Montucky Cold Snack. I never stray from that order and I'm never disappointed. The staff is a fun bunch of wonderful humans with quick wit, friendly demeanors and fantastic sarcasm, and the beer list is always rotating with local Colorado craft. I plan on ordering more takeout and supporting as much as I can until this crazy time is over!

Rachel M.

Yelp
Service was fast, staff is awesome. Yummy chicken. Give it a shot. I need more to say so, go here!
google avatar

Erika J.

Yelp
I ordered a take out order the other day and I've never tried them before. I got a leg order with baked beans on the side so it was $10 range. I guess they aren't a fried chicken place and they cook on the stove top? I ask this because my chicken had some black burnt parts on one side so that didn't taste good. The rest of it wasn't bad i will say especially because of the skin, but it was pretty bland overall. Had to dip in sauce. Their baked beans are the worst I've ever tasted in my life. They're adding too much of an ingredient to make it be overpowered. It didn't taste like your typical baked beans. They also put it in a small sauce container and sell it for $2.99... pretty greedy to be calling that a side. I won't be bothering with this place again. Might as well go to Comet Chicken, Jim's Wings, KFC, or even the chicken wing selection at Safeway would be better...

Yelp
My daughter has been singing there praises so when we came up from ATX, had to try it out. Very pleased and did not diss appoint. I had the Nashville Hot, white meat, fried with waffle fries. Really nice heat, chicken done well , nice toasted bun and great slaw. Fries were crispy and house dipping sauce was nice. Only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is my wife's chicken was a bit chewy, but great taste. Really nice vibe, friendly staff, lots of locals on Sunday at opening for NFL and Bloody Mary's. Highly recommend and will come back!

Yelp
I don't know how these guys do it but they are providing delicious food at an incredible price! It gets even better if you come during their happy hour from 3-7pm when selected drinks are half price. The atmosphere is fun and funky and the service is excellent. My husband loves their fried chicken sandwich with fireball maple syrup and shoestring fries. The last time we were there, I was tempted to try their smoked trout sandwich but went with the fried tempeh instead with "franch" sauce and a side of mac n cheese. Yum! We also got 2 drinks a piece and our bill was less than $40! Thanks, guys!!

Yelp
I'm not kidding, this is the best chicken I think I've ever had. I came in today and got so much food that I may explode, or at least need larger pants. They have amazing chicken (I get the green chili tenders), Mac and cheese, and waffles. I have yet to get something that isn't phenomenal. The service is always great and everyone is super nice. Do yourself a favor and come in here. To clarify, I don't live in Ft Collins but come here every single time I'm over here. I dream about this place, and once you try it, you will too!
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Got the 2 piece tenders in Nashville Hot with mac 'n' cheese for my side and honey butter for my sauce. Definitely enjoyed the meal, I thought both the chicken and mac 'n' cheese tasted pretty good. You order up front and they'll bring the food to your table.
google avatar

Yelp
Was surprised to find a hot chicken place close by to where we were staying with great reviews so I was super excited to try it out. I ordered the leg and thigh with coleslaw and fries heat level hot. My friend went with the breast and leg with mac and cheese and fries. He got an LIT and I got the penta-colada. The chicken on the inside was moist and pretty tasty, but the skin, what makes fried chicken amazing, was utterly disappointing. It was so overloaded with a sugary rub, I could barely eat it. There was a hint of spice but the sugar was so overpowering and it wasn't that flaky, crispy, deliciousness either. The skin was soggy and the bread felt stale. The mac and cheese had a processed cheese sauce, like velveeta and was really disappointing. I was surprised to see as well that the chicken comes in one big connective piece instead of two. The drinks were pretty good, they came in cute classes although they were incredibly strong. It was a disappointment because the food looked and sounded amazing but just didn't live up to the photos or wonderful reviews.

Yelp
Crispy chicken glazed with varying levels of heat is the main draw at this relaxed tavern. I came here after a long day of hiking and boy did this hit the spot. I got the hot tenders and I normally don't heat well, but this was just the right amount of kick. Not only do you get to pick the heat level but there are also various types of sauce. I went with the ranch and it was delicious. I fries and mac and cheese were delicious as well. Would definitely revisit when im in Fort Collins again! Pro: -Crispy juicy chicken by itself but the sauce always takes it to another level -Big menu of entrees and appetizers to choose from Cons: -Kind of took them a while to make our order and it wasn't that busy either Tips: -If you come with friends try to get get different sauces and share them to see which is he best cause they have so many options

Kevin M.

Yelp
We have gone here several times...always carry out. Excellent food (VERY flavorful) and pricing! Ordering ahead is recommended as the line otherwise can be quite long,
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Great chicken and fast service! Enjoyed the Nashville hot chicken tenders and potato salad. Did not disappoint.
google avatar

Angelo W.

Yelp
They have good chicken tenders but he have always found this place just slow on execution... if you want slow casual then this is the place for you.
